اَللَّهُمَّ اجْعَلْهُ لَنَا سَلَفًا وَّفَرَطًا وَّأَجْرًا
Transliteration
Allahum-maj'alhu lanaa salafan, wa faratan, wa 'ajran
Translation
O Allah, make him for us a precursor, a forerunner and a cause of reward.
Hasan Basri (R), a well-known Tabi'i, would read Surah Fatiha at a child's janaza. Then he would make this dua:
اَللَّهُمَّ اجْعَلْهُ لَنَا سَلَفًا وَّفَرَطًا وَّأَجْرًا
Transliteration
Allahum-maj'alhu lanaa salafan, wa faratan, wa 'ajran
Translation
O Allah, make him for us a precursor, a forerunner and a cause of reward.
In times of loss, this janaza prayer gives comfort. It asks Allah to turn the child into a reward and a reason for hope. Parents keep their faith strong even when hearts are broken.
A: We say Inna Lillahi wa Inna Ilayhi Raji'un. Then we ask Allah to forgive the dead person, be kind to them, make their grave big, and give them Jannah.
A: We don't say rest in peace. We say May Allah forgive them and grant them Jannah or we say Raheemullah. These are real prayers for forgiveness and Paradise.
A: Face Qibla and stand. Say four Takbirs. Read Surah Al-Fatiha. Send blessings on the Prophet. Make dua for the child. End with Salam. This is how Islam teaches us to pray for children.
A: Be patient. Trust Allah in hard times. Allah gives help and kindness to those who say Inna Lillahi wa Inna Ilayhi Raji'un when they lose someone. This is in Quran 2, verses 155-156.
A: Tell them: May Allah make your child a path to forgiveness and Jannah. Pray for Allah to give them patience and kindness. Ask Allah to let them meet their child again in Jannah.
