Narrated Uthman ibn Affan: Whenever the Prophet (ﷺ) became free from burying the dead, he used to stay at him (i.e. his grave) and say: Seek forgiveness for your brother, and beg steadfastness for him, for he will be questioned now. Abu Dawud said: The full name of the narrator Buhair is Buhair b. Raisan. [Sahih (Albani). Abu Dawud: 3221]
Families in pain find peace through this janaza prayer. It asks Allah to forgive the dead and make them strong when they face the grave's questions. Muslims remember Allah's mercy in every loss.
We ask Allah to forgive them, put them with those who are guided, and fill their grave with mercy and light. This is the special prayer for the dead.
We ask Allah to forgive, show mercy, make them strong, and pardon them. We also ask for kindness, a wide entry, and for their soul to be washed clean like white cloth.
When someone dies, we say Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji'un. It means we are Allah's and we go back to Him. This shows our trust in times of loss.
A famous prayer is: O Allah, forgive the living and the dead among us, those here and those far, young and old, men and women. This asks for mercy on all Muslims.
We say: O Allah, forgive them, have mercy, make them strong, and wash away their sins. This is part of the Islamic funeral prayer for the dead.
