Note
Sa'eed Ibn Musayyib (R) said: "I prayed janaza for a child behind Abu Hurairah (RA). The child never did any sin." There I heard Abu Huraira (RA) say: (The dua is mentioned above)
Short but powerful. Ask Allah to save the dead from grave pain. This dua brings hope and mercy to the soul. The family feels comfort in their hard time.
One well-known dua is: O Allah, whoever of us You let live, let him live as a Muslim. Whoever of us You let die, let him die with faith. This asks Allah to forgive and show mercy to the dead.
A famous prayer is: O Allah, forgive our living and our dead. Those here and those not here. Our young and our old. Our men and our women. This asks for mercy and help for all Muslims.
At a funeral, Muslims say: O Allah, forgive him and have mercy on him. Make him strong and forgive him. Be kind and clean him from his mistakes. Make his place wide for him.
The prayer is: O Allah forgive (say the name here). Raise his place with good people. Make his grave big. Give him light. Give his family a good one to follow him.
Janazah prayer has Surah Al-Fatiha. Then prayers for Prophet Muhammad. Then special duas for the one who died. There is no bowing or prostration in this prayer.
