After every meal or drink, the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) would say:
اَلْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي أَطْعَمَ وَسَقَى وَسَوَّغَهُ وَجَعَلَ لَهُ مَخْرَجًا
Transliteration
Alhamdu lillahilladhi at'ama wasaqa wasawwagahu waza'ala lahu makhrazaa
Translation
Praise be to Allah Who has given food and drink and made it easy to swallow, and provided an exit for it.
حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ صَالِحٍ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ، أَخْبَرَنِي سَعِيدُ بْنُ أَبِي أَيُّوبَ، عَنْ أَبِي عَقِيلٍ الْقُرَشِيِّ، عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ الْحُبُلِيِّ، عَنْ أَبِي أَيُّوبَ الأَنْصَارِيِّ، قَالَ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم إِذَا أَكَلَ أَوْ شَرِبَ قَالَ " الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي أَطْعَمَ وَسَقَى وَسَوَّغَهُ وَجَعَلَ لَهُ مَخْرَجًا " .
Translation
Narrated AbuAyyub al-Ansari: When the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) ate or drank, he said: "Praise be to Allah Who has given food and drink and made it easy to swallow, and provided an exit for it. Sunan Abi Dawud 3851 [Sahih (Albani). Abu Dawood 3851]
Say O Allah, bless us in it and give us better food. Or just say alhamdulillah to thank Allah for the meal. These words show you are grateful.
The dua is alhamdulillah alladhee atamana wa saqana, waja'alana muslimin. It means praise to Allah who fed us, gave us drink, and made us Muslims.
Say alhamdulillah. The Prophet taught us to thank Allah after every meal. This simple dua brings blessings and helps us remember Allah's gifts.
The Prophet would lick his fingers clean. He said don't waste food. Every bite has blessings. Eat halal food, remember Allah, and finish your plate.
Say O Allah, bless this food and give us better food in the future. This dua asks for barakah now and more blessings later.
