بِسۡمِ
Bismil
In (the) name
ٱللَّهِ
lahir
(of) Allah
ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنِ
Raḥmaanir
the Most Gracious
ٱلرَّحِيمِ
Ra-ḥeem
the Most Merciful
١
1:2
ٱلۡحَمۡدُ
Al-Ḥamdu
All praises and thanks
لِلَّهِ
Lillaahi
(be) to Allah
رَبِّ
Rabbil
the Lord
ٱلۡعَٰلَمِينَ
ʻAalameen;
of the universe
٢
1:3
ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنِ
ʹAr-Raḥmaanir
The Most Gracious
ٱلرَّحِيمِ
Raḥeem;
the Most Merciful
٣
1:4
مَٰلِكِ
Maaliki
(The) Master
يَوۡمِ
Yawmid
(of the) Day
ٱلدِّينِ
Deen!
(of the) Judgment
٤
1:5
إِيَّاكَ
ʹIyyaaka
You Alone
نَعۡبُدُ
naʻbudu
we worship
وَإِيَّاكَ
wa-ʹiyyaaka
and You Alone
نَسۡتَعِينُ
nastaʻeen.
we ask for help
٥
1:6
ٱهۡدِنَا
ʹIhdinaṣ
Guide us
ٱلصِّرَٰطَ
Ṣiraaṭal
(to) the path
ٱلۡمُسۡتَقِيمَ
Mustaq̣eem.
the straight
٦
1:7
صِرَٰطَ
Ṣiraaṭal
(The) path
ٱلَّذِينَ
laẓeena
(of) those
أَنۡعَمۡتَ
ʹanʻamta
You have bestowed (Your) Favors
عَلَيۡهِمۡ
ʻalayhim
on them
غَيۡرِ
G̣ayril
not (of)
ٱلۡمَغۡضُوبِ
mag̣ḍoobi
those who earned (Your) wrath
عَلَيۡهِمۡ
ʻalayhim
on themselves
وَلَا
wa-laḍ
and not
ٱلضَّآلِّينَ
ḍaaalleen.
(of) those who go astray

الٓمٓ
ʹAlif-laaam-meeem.
Alif Laam Meem
١
2:2
ذَٰلِكَ
Ẓaalikal
That
ٱلۡكِتَٰبُ
Kitaabu
(is) the book
لَا
laa -
no
رَيۡبَۛ
rayba
doubt
فِيهِۛ
feeh.
in it
هُدٗى
Hudal
a Guidance
لِّلۡمُتَّقِينَ
lil-Muttaq̣een;
for the God-conscious
٢
2:3
ٱلَّذِينَ
ʹAllaẓeena
Those who
يُؤۡمِنُونَ
yuʹminoona
believe
بِٱلۡغَيۡبِ
bil-G̣aybi
in the unseen
وَيُقِيمُونَ
wa-yuq̣eemoonaṣ
and establish
ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ
Ṣalaata
the prayer
وَمِمَّا
wa-mimmaa
and out of what
رَزَقۡنَٰهُمۡ
razaq̣naahum
We have provided them
يُنفِقُونَ
yuñfiq̣oon;
they spend
٣
2:4
وَٱلَّذِينَ
Wallaẓeena
And those who
يُؤۡمِنُونَ
yuʹminoona
believe
بِمَآ
bimaaa
in what
أُنزِلَ
ʹuñzila
(is) sent down
إِلَيۡكَ
ʹilayka
to you
وَمَآ
wa-maaa
and what
أُنزِلَ
ʹuñzila
was sent down
مِن
miñ
from
قَبۡلِكَ
q̣ablik,
before you
وَبِٱلۡأٓخِرَةِ
wa-bilʹAakhirati
and in the Hereafter
هُمۡ
hum
they
يُوقِنُونَ
yooq̣inoon.
firmly believe
٤
2:5
أُوْلَٰٓئِكَ
ʹUlaaaʹika
Those
عَلَىٰ
ʻalaa
(are) on
هُدٗى
Hudam
Guidance
مِّن
mir
from
رَّبِّهِمۡۖ
Rabbihim,
their Lord
وَأُوْلَٰٓئِكَ
wa-ʹulaaaʹika
and those
هُمُ
humul
they
ٱلۡمُفۡلِحُونَ
Mufliḥoon.
(are) the successful ones

إِنَّ
ʹInnal
Indeed
ٱلَّذِينَ
laẓeena
those who
كَفَرُواْ
Kafaroo
disbelieve[d]
سَوَآءٌ
sawaaaʹun
(it) is same
عَلَيۡهِمۡ
ʻalayhim
to them
ءَأَنذَرۡتَهُمۡ
ʹaʹañẓartahum
whether you warn them
أَمۡ
ʹam
or
لَمۡ
lam
not
تُنذِرۡهُمۡ
tuñẓirhum
you warn them
لَا
laa
not
يُؤۡمِنُونَ
yuʹminoon.
they believe
٦
2:7
خَتَمَ
Khatamal
Has set a seal
ٱللَّهُ
laahu
Allah
عَلَىٰ
ʻalaa
on
قُلُوبِهِمۡ
q̣uloobihim
their hearts
وَعَلَىٰ
wa-ʻalaa
and on
سَمۡعِهِمۡۖ
samʻihim,
their hearing
وَعَلَىٰٓ
wa-ʻalaaa
and on
أَبۡصَٰرِهِمۡ
ʹabṣaarihim
their vision
غِشَٰوَةٞۖ
g̣ishaawah;
(is) a veil
وَلَهُمۡ
wa-lahum
And for them
عَذَابٌ
ʻaẓaabun
(is) a punishment
عَظِيمٞ
ʻaz̤̣eem.
great
٧
2:8
وَمِنَ
Wa-minan
And of
ٱلنَّاسِ
naasi
the people
مَن
mañy
(are some) who
يَقُولُ
yaq̣oolu
say
ءَامَنَّا
ʹaamannaa
We believed
بِٱللَّهِ
billaahi
in Allah
وَبِٱلۡيَوۡمِ
wa-bil-Yawmil
and in the Day
ٱلۡأٓخِرِ
ʹAakhiri
[the] Last
وَمَا
wa-maa
but not
هُم
hum̃
they
بِمُؤۡمِنِينَ
bimuʹmineen.
(are) believers (at all)
٨
2:9
يُخَٰدِعُونَ
Yukhaadiʻoonal
They seek to deceive
ٱللَّهَ
laaha
Allah
وَٱلَّذِينَ
wallaẓeena
and those who
ءَامَنُواْ
ʹaamanoo:
believe[d]
وَمَا
wa-maa
and not
يَخۡدَعُونَ
Yakhdaʻoona
they deceive
إِلَّآ
ʹillaaa
except
أَنفُسَهُمۡ
ʹañfusahum
themselves
وَمَا
wa-maa
and not
يَشۡعُرُونَ
yashʻuroon.
they realize (it)
٩
2:10
فِي
Fee
In
قُلُوبِهِم
q̣uloobihim
their hearts
مَّرَضٞ
maraḍuñ
(is) a disease
فَزَادَهُمُ
fazaadahumul
so has increased them
ٱللَّهُ
laahu
Allah
مَرَضٗاۖ
Maraḍaa.
(in) disease
وَلَهُمۡ
Wa-lahum
and for them
عَذَابٌ
ʻaẓaabun
(is) a punishment
أَلِيمُۢ
ʹaleemum̃
painful
بِمَا
bimaa
because
كَانُواْ
Kaanoo
they used to
يَكۡذِبُونَ
Yakẓiboon.
[they] lie
١٠
2:11
وَإِذَا
Wa-ʹiẓaa
And when
قِيلَ
q̣eela
it is said
لَهُمۡ
lahum
to them
لَا
laa-
(Do) not
تُفۡسِدُواْ
tufsidoo
spread corruption
فِي
fil
in
ٱلۡأَرۡضِ
ʹarḍi
the earth
قَالُوٓاْ
q̣aalooo
they say
إِنَّمَا
ʹinnamaa
Only
نَحۡنُ
naḥnu
we
مُصۡلِحُونَ
muṣliḥoon.
(are) reformers
١١
2:12
أَلَآ
ʹAlaaa
Beware
إِنَّهُمۡ
ʹinnahum
indeed they
هُمُ
humul
themselves
ٱلۡمُفۡسِدُونَ
mufsidoona
(are) the ones who spread corruption
وَلَٰكِن
wa-laakil
[and] but
لَّا
laa
not
يَشۡعُرُونَ
yashʻuroon.
they realize (it)
١٢
2:13
وَإِذَا
Wa-ʹiẓaa
And when
قِيلَ
q̣eela
it is said
لَهُمۡ
lahum
to them
ءَامِنُواْ
ʹaaminoo
Believe
كَمَآ
kamaaa
as
ءَامَنَ
ʹaamanan
believed
ٱلنَّاسُ
naasu
the people
قَالُوٓاْ
q̣aalooo
they say
أَنُؤۡمِنُ
ʹanuʹminu
Should we believe
كَمَآ
kamaaa
as
ءَامَنَ
ʹaamanas
believed
ٱلسُّفَهَآءُۗ
sufahaaaʹ?
the fools
أَلَآ
ʹAlaaa
Beware
إِنَّهُمۡ
ʹinnahum
certainly they
هُمُ
humus
themselves
ٱلسُّفَهَآءُ
sufahaaaʹu
(are) the fools
وَلَٰكِن
wa-laakil
[and] but
لَّا
laa
not
يَعۡلَمُونَ
yaʻlamoon.
they know
١٣
2:14
وَإِذَا
Wa-ʹiẓaa
And when
لَقُواْ
laq̣ul
they meet
ٱلَّذِينَ
laẓeena
those who
ءَامَنُواْ
ʹaamanoo
believe[d]
قَالُوٓاْ
q̣aalooo
they say
ءَامَنَّا
ʹaamannaa,
We believe[d]
وَإِذَا
wa-ʹiẓaa
But when
خَلَوۡاْ
Khalaw
they are alone
إِلَىٰ
ʹilaa
with
شَيَٰطِينِهِمۡ
Shayaaṭeenihim
their evil ones
قَالُوٓاْ
q̣aalooo
they say
إِنَّا
ʹinnaa
Indeed we
مَعَكُمۡ
maʻakum
(are) with you
إِنَّمَا
ʹinnamaa
only
نَحۡنُ
naḥnu
we
مُسۡتَهۡزِءُونَ
mustahziʹoon.
(are) mockers
١٤
2:15
ٱللَّهُ
ʹAllaahu
Allah
يَسۡتَهۡزِئُ
yastahziʹu
mocks
بِهِمۡ
bihim
at them
وَيَمُدُّهُمۡ
wa-yamudduhum
and prolongs them
فِي
fee
in
طُغۡيَٰنِهِمۡ
ṭug̣yaanihim
their transgression
يَعۡمَهُونَ
yaʻmahoon.
they wander blindly
١٥
2:16
أُوْلَٰٓئِكَ
ʹUlaaaʹikal
Those
ٱلَّذِينَ
laẓeenash
(are) the ones who
ٱشۡتَرَوُاْ
tarawuḍ
bought
ٱلضَّلَٰلَةَ
ḍalaalata
[the] astraying
بِٱلۡهُدَىٰ
bilhudaa:
for [the] guidance
فَمَا
famaa
So not
رَبِحَت
Rabiḥat
profited
تِّجَٰرَتُهُمۡ
tijaaratuhum
their commerce
وَمَا
wa-maa
and not
كَانُواْ
Kaanoo
were they
مُهۡتَدِينَ
Muhtadeen.
guided-ones

مَثَلُهُمۡ
Mas̤aluhum
Their example
كَمَثَلِ
Kamas̤alil
(is) like (the) example
ٱلَّذِي
laẓis
(of) the one who
ٱسۡتَوۡقَدَ
tawq̣ada
kindled
نَارٗا
Naaraa;
a fire
فَلَمَّآ
falammaaa
then when
أَضَآءَتۡ
ʹaḍaaaʹat
it illuminated
مَا
maa-
what
حَوۡلَهُۥ
ḥawlahoo
(was) around him
ذَهَبَ
ẓahabal
took away
ٱللَّهُ
laahu
Allah
بِنُورِهِمۡ
binoorihim
their light
وَتَرَكَهُمۡ
wa-tarakahum
and left them
فِي
fee
in
ظُلُمَٰتٖ
z̤̣ulumaatil
darkness[es]
لَّا
laa
(so) not
يُبۡصِرُونَ
Yubṣiroon.
(do) they see
١٧
2:18
صُمُّۢ
Ṣummum
Deaf
بُكۡمٌ
bukmun
dumb
عُمۡيٞ
ʻumyuñ
blind
فَهُمۡ
fahum
so they
لَا
laa-
not
يَرۡجِعُونَ
yarjiʻoon.
[they] will not return
