69:3وَمَآwamaAnd whatأَدۡرَىٰكَadrakawill make you knowمَاmawhatٱلۡحَآقَّةُal-haqatu(is) the Inevitable Reality٣
69:4كَذَّبَتۡkadhabatDeniedثَمُودُthamuduThamudوَعَادُۢwa'adunand Aadبِٱلۡقَارِعَةِbil-qari'atithe Striking Calamity٤
69:5فَأَمَّاfa-ammaSo as forثَمُودُthamuduThamudفَأُهۡلِكُواْfa-uh'likuthey were destroyedبِٱلطَّاغِيَةِbil-taghiyatiby the overpowering (blast)٥
69:6وَأَمَّاwa-ammaAnd as forعَادٞadunAadفَأُهۡلِكُواْfa-uh'likuthey were destroyedبِرِيحٖbirihinby a windصَرۡصَرٍsarsarinscreamingعَاتِيَةٖatiyatinviolent٦
69:7سَخَّرَهَاsakharahaWhich He imposedعَلَيۡهِمۡalayhimupon themسَبۡعَsab'a(for) sevenلَيَالٖlayalinnightsوَثَمَٰنِيَةَwathamaniyataand eightأَيَّامٍayyamindaysحُسُومٗاۖhusuman(in) successionفَتَرَىfataraso you would seeٱلۡقَوۡمَal-qawmathe peopleفِيهَاfihathereinصَرۡعَىٰsar'afallenكَأَنَّهُمۡka-annahumas if they wereأَعۡجَازُa'jazutrunksنَخۡلٍnakhlin(of) date-palmsخَاوِيَةٖkhawiyatinhollow٧
69:9وَجَآءَwajaaAnd cameفِرۡعَوۡنُfir'awnuFiraunوَمَنwamanand (those)قَبۡلَهُۥqablahubefore himوَٱلۡمُؤۡتَفِكَٰتُwal-mu'tafikatuand the overturned citiesبِٱلۡخَاطِئَةِbil-khati-atiwith sin٩
69:10فَعَصَوۡاْfa'asawAnd they disobeyedرَسُولَrasula(the) Messengerرَبِّهِمۡrabbihim(of) their Lordفَأَخَذَهُمۡfa-akhadhahumso He seized themأَخۡذَةٗakhdhatan(with) a seizureرَّابِيَةًrabiyatanexceeding١٠
69:11إِنَّاinnaIndeed Weلَمَّاlammawhenطَغَاtaghaoverflowedٱلۡمَآءُal-mauthe waterحَمَلۡنَٰكُمۡhamalnakumWe carried youفِيfiinٱلۡجَارِيَةِal-jariyatithe sailing (ship)١١
69:12لِنَجۡعَلَهَاlinaj'alahaThat We might make itلَكُمۡlakumfor youتَذۡكِرَةٗtadhkiratana reminderوَتَعِيَهَآwata'iyahaand would be conscious of itأُذُنٞudhununan earوَٰعِيَةٞwa'iyatunconscious١٢
69:13فَإِذَاfa-idhaThen whenنُفِخَnufikhais blownفِيfiinٱلصُّورِal-surithe trumpet نَفۡخَةٞnafkhatuna blastوَٰحِدَةٞwahidatunsingle١٣
69:14وَحُمِلَتِwahumilatiAnd are liftedٱلۡأَرۡضُal-arduthe earthوَٱلۡجِبَالُwal-jibaluand the mountainsفَدُكَّتَاfadukkataand crushedدَكَّةٗdakkatan(with) a crushingوَٰحِدَةٗwahidatansingle١٤
69:15فَيَوۡمَئِذٖfayawma-idhinThen (on) that Dayوَقَعَتِwaqa'atiwill occurٱلۡوَاقِعَةُal-waqi'atuthe Occurrence١٥
69:16وَٱنشَقَّتِwa-inshaqqatiAnd will splitٱلسَّمَآءُal-samauthe heavenفَهِيَfahiyaso itيَوۡمَئِذٖyawma-idhin(is on) that Dayوَاهِيَةٞwahiyatunfrail١٦
69:17وَٱلۡمَلَكُwal-malakuAnd the Angelsعَلَىٰٓala(will be) onأَرۡجَآئِهَاۚarjaihaits edgesوَيَحۡمِلُwayahmiluand will bearعَرۡشَarsha(the) Throneرَبِّكَrabbika(of) your Lordفَوۡقَهُمۡfawqahumabove themيَوۡمَئِذٖyawma-idhinthat Dayثَمَٰنِيَةٞthamaniyatuneight١٧
69:18يَوۡمَئِذٖyawma-idhinThat Dayتُعۡرَضُونَtu'radunayou will be exhibitedلَاlanotتَخۡفَىٰtakhfawill be hiddenمِنكُمۡminkumamong youخَافِيَةٞkhafiyatunany secret١٨
69:19فَأَمَّاfa-ammaThen as forمَنۡman(him) whoأُوتِيَutiyais givenكِتَٰبَهُۥkitabahuhis recordبِيَمِينِهِۦbiyaminihiin his right handفَيَقُولُfayaquluwill sayهَآؤُمُhaumuHereٱقۡرَءُواْiq'raureadكِتَٰبِيَهۡkitabiyahmy record١٩
69:20إِنِّيinniIndeed Iظَنَنتُzanantuwas certainأَنِّيannithat Iمُلَٰقٍmulaqin(will) meetحِسَابِيَهۡhisabiyahmy account٢٠
69:24كُلُواْkuluEatوَٱشۡرَبُواْwa-ish'rabuand drinkهَنِيٓـَٔۢاhanian(in) satisfactionبِمَآbimafor whatأَسۡلَفۡتُمۡaslaftumyou sent before youفِيfiinٱلۡأَيَّامِal-ayamithe daysٱلۡخَالِيَةِal-khaliyatipast٢٤
69:25وَأَمَّاwa-ammaBut as forمَنۡman(him) whoأُوتِيَutiyais givenكِتَٰبَهُۥkitabahuhis recordبِشِمَالِهِۦbishimalihiin his left handفَيَقُولُfayaquluwill sayيَٰلَيۡتَنِيyalaytaniO! I wishلَمۡlamnotأُوتَutaI had been givenكِتَٰبِيَهۡkitabiyahmy record٢٥
