40:2تَنزِيلُTañzeelul(The) revelationٱلۡكِتَٰبِKitaabi(of) the Bookمِنَminal(is) fromٱللَّهِlaahilAllahٱلۡعَزِيزِʻAzeezilthe All-MightyٱلۡعَلِيمِʻAleem,―the All-Knower٢
40:3غَافِرِG̣aafiriẓ(The) ForgiverٱلذَّنۢبِẒambi(of) the sinوَقَابِلِwa-Q̣aabilitand (the) AcceptorٱلتَّوۡبِTawbi(of) [the] repentanceشَدِيدِShadeedilsevereٱلۡعِقَابِʻIq̣aabi(in) the punishmentذِيẒiṭOwner (of) the abundanceٱلطَّوۡلِۖṬawl.Owner (of) the abundanceلَآLaaa(There is) noإِلَٰهَʹilaahagodإِلَّاʹillaaexceptهُوَۖHoo:Himإِلَيۡهِʹilayhilto HimٱلۡمَصِيرُMaṣeer.(is) the final return٣
40:4مَاMaa-NotيُجَٰدِلُyujaadiludisputeفِيٓfeeeconcerningءَايَٰتِʹAayaatil(the) Versesٱللَّهِlaahi(of) Allahإِلَّاʹillalexceptٱلَّذِينَlaẓeenathose whoكَفَرُواْkafaroodisbelieveفَلَاfalaaso (let) notيَغۡرُرۡكَyag̣rurkadeceive youتَقَلُّبُهُمۡtaq̣allubuhumtheir movementفِيfilinٱلۡبِلَٰدِbilaad!the cities٤
40:5كَذَّبَتۡKaẓẓabatDeniedقَبۡلَهُمۡq̣ablahumbefore themقَوۡمُQ̣awmu(the) peopleنُوحٖNooḥiñw(of) Nuhوَٱلۡأَحۡزَابُwal-ʹAḥzaabuand the factionsمِنۢmimafter themبَعۡدِهِمۡۖbaʻdihim;after themوَهَمَّتۡwa-hammatand plottedكُلُّkullueveryأُمَّةِۭʹummatimnationبِرَسُولِهِمۡbirasoolihimagainst their Messengerلِيَأۡخُذُوهُۖliyaʹkhuẓoohuto seize himوَجَٰدَلُواْwa-jaadalooand they disputedبِٱلۡبَٰطِلِbilbaaṭiliby falsehoodلِيُدۡحِضُواْliyudḥiḍooto refuteبِهِbihiltherebyٱلۡحَقَّḤaq̣q̣athe truthفَأَخَذۡتُهُمۡۖfaʹakhaẓtuhum!So I seized themفَكَيۡفَFakayfaThen howكَانَkaanawasعِقَابِʻIq̣aab!My penalty٥
40:6وَكَذَٰلِكَWa-kaẓaalikaAnd thusحَقَّتۡḥaq̣q̣athas been justifiedكَلِمَتُKalimatu(the) WordرَبِّكَRabbika(of) your Lordعَلَىʻalalagainstٱلَّذِينَlaẓeenathose whoكَفَرُوٓاْkafarooodisbelievedأَنَّهُمۡʹannahumthat theyأَصۡحَٰبُʹAṣḥaabun(are) companionsٱلنَّارِNaar!(of) the Fire٦
40:7ٱلَّذِينَʹAllaẓeenaThose whoيَحۡمِلُونَyaḥmiloonalbearٱلۡعَرۡشَʻArshathe Throneوَمَنۡwa-manand whoحَوۡلَهُۥḥawlahoo(are) around itيُسَبِّحُونَyusabbiḥoonaglorifyبِحَمۡدِbi-Ḥamdi(the) praisesرَبِّهِمۡRabbihim(of) their Lordوَيُؤۡمِنُونَwa-yuʹminoonaand believeبِهِۦbiheein Himوَيَسۡتَغۡفِرُونَwa-yastag̣firoonaand ask forgivenessلِلَّذِينَlillaẓeenafor those whoءَامَنُواْۖʹaamanoo:believeرَبَّنَاRabbanaaOur LordوَسِعۡتَwasiʻtaYou encompassكُلَّkullaallشَيۡءٖshayʹirthingsرَّحۡمَةٗRaḥmatañw(by Your) Mercyوَعِلۡمٗاwa-ʻilmañand knowledgeفَٱغۡفِرۡfag̣firso forgiveلِلَّذِينَlillaẓeenathose whoتَابُواْtaaboorepentوَٱتَّبَعُواْwattabaʻooand followسَبِيلَكَSabeelakaYour Wayوَقِهِمۡwaq̣ihimand save them (from)عَذَابَʻAẓaabal(the) punishmentٱلۡجَحِيمِJaḥeem!(of) the Hellfire٧
40:8رَبَّنَاRabbanaaOur Lordوَأَدۡخِلۡهُمۡwa-ʹadkhilhumAnd admit themجَنَّٰتِJannaati(to) GardensعَدۡنٍʻAdninil(of) EdenٱلَّتِيlateewhichوَعَدتَّهُمۡwaʻattahumYou have promised themوَمَنwa-mañand whoeverصَلَحَṣalaḥa(was) righteousمِنۡminamongءَابَآئِهِمۡʹaabaaaʹihimtheir fathersوَأَزۡوَٰجِهِمۡwa-ʹazwaajihimand their spousesوَذُرِّيَّٰتِهِمۡۚwa-ẓurriyyaatihim!and their offspringإِنَّكَʹInnakaIndeed YouأَنتَʹAñtalYouٱلۡعَزِيزُʻAzeezul(are) the All-MightyٱلۡحَكِيمُḤakeem.the All-Wise٨
40:9وَقِهِمُWaq̣ihimusAnd protect themٱلسَّيِّـَٔاتِۚsayyiʹaat;(from) the evilsوَمَنwa-mañAnd whoeverتَقِtaq̣isyou protectٱلسَّيِّـَٔاتِsayyiʹaati(from) the evilsيَوۡمَئِذٖYawmaʹiẓiñthat Dayفَقَدۡfaq̣adthen verilyرَحِمۡتَهُۥۚraḥimtah:You have bestowed mercy on himوَذَٰلِكَwa-zaalikaAnd thatهُوَhuwal[it]ٱلۡفَوۡزُFawzul(is) the successٱلۡعَظِيمُʻaz̤̣eem.the great٩
40:10إِنَّʹInnalIndeedٱلَّذِينَlaẓeenathose whoكَفَرُواْkafaroodisbelievedيُنَادَوۡنَyunaadawnawill be cried out to themلَمَقۡتُlamaq̣tulCertainly Allah's hatredٱللَّهِlaahiCertainly Allah's hatredأَكۡبَرُʹakbaru(was) greaterمِنmimthanمَّقۡتِكُمۡmaq̣tikumyour hatredأَنفُسَكُمۡʹañfusakum(of) yourselvesإِذۡʹiẓwhenتُدۡعَوۡنَtudʻawnayou were calledإِلَىʹilaltoٱلۡإِيمَٰنِʹeemaanithe faithفَتَكۡفُرُونَfatakfuroon.and you disbelieved١٠
40:11قَالُواْQ̣aalooThey (will) sayرَبَّنَآRabbanaaaOur LordأَمَتَّنَاʹamatYou gave us deathٱثۡنَتَيۡنِtanas̤nataynitwiceوَأَحۡيَيۡتَنَاwa-ʹaḥyaytanas̤and You gave us lifeٱثۡنَتَيۡنِnataynitwiceفَٱعۡتَرَفۡنَاfaʻtarafnaaand we confessبِذُنُوبِنَاbiẓunoobinaaour sinsفَهَلۡfahalSo is (there)إِلَىٰʹilaatoخُرُوجٖkhuroojimget outمِّنmiñanyسَبِيلٖsabeel?way١١
40:12ذَٰلِكُمẒaalikum̃Thatبِأَنَّهُۥٓbiʹannahooo(is) becauseإِذَاʹiẓaawhenدُعِيَduʻiyalAllah was invokedٱللَّهُlaahuAllah was invokedوَحۡدَهُۥwaḥdahooAloneكَفَرۡتُمۡkafartum,you disbelievedوَإِنwa-ʹiñybut ifيُشۡرَكۡyushrak(others) were associatedبِهِۦbiheewith Himتُؤۡمِنُواْۚtuʹminoo!you believedفَٱلۡحُكۡمُFal-ḤukmuSo the judgmentلِلَّهِlillaahil(is) with AllahٱلۡعَلِيِّʻAliyyilthe Most HighٱلۡكَبِيرِKabeer!the Most Great١٢
40:13هُوَHuwalHeٱلَّذِيlaẓee(is) the One Whoيُرِيكُمۡyureekumshows youءَايَٰتِهِۦʹAayaatiheeHis Signsوَيُنَزِّلُwa-yunazziluand sends downلَكُمlakumfor youمِّنَminasfromٱلسَّمَآءِsamaaaʹithe skyرِزۡقٗاۚRizq̣aa:provisionوَمَاwa-maaBut (does) notيَتَذَكَّرُyataẓakkarutake heedإِلَّاʹillaaexceptمَنmañy(one) whoيُنِيبُyuneeb.turns١٣
40:14فَٱدۡعُواْFadʻulSo invokeٱللَّهَlaahaAllahمُخۡلِصِينَmukhliṣeena(being) sincereلَهُlahudto Himٱلدِّينَdeena(in) the religionوَلَوۡwa-laweven thoughكَرِهَkarihaldislike (it)ٱلۡكَٰفِرُونَkaafiroon.the disbelievers١٤
40:15رَفِيعُRafeeʻudPossessor of the Highest RanksٱلدَّرَجَٰتِdarajaatiPossessor of the Highest RanksذُوẒulOwner (of) the ThroneٱلۡعَرۡشِʻArsh:Owner (of) the Throneيُلۡقِيyulq̣irHe placesٱلرُّوحَrooḥathe inspirationمِنۡminofأَمۡرِهِۦʹAmriheeHis CommandعَلَىٰʻalaauponمَنmañywhomيَشَآءُyashaaaʹuHe willsمِنۡminofعِبَادِهِۦʻibaadiheeHis slavesلِيُنذِرَliyuñẓirato warnيَوۡمَYawmat(of the) DayٱلتَّلَاقِTalaaq̣,―(of) the Meeting١٥
40:16يَوۡمَYawma(The) Dayهُمhum̃theyبَٰرِزُونَۖbaarizoon:come forthلَاlaa-notيَخۡفَىٰyakhfaais hiddenعَلَىʻalalfromٱللَّهِlaahiAllahمِنۡهُمۡminhumabout themشَيۡءٞۚshayʹ.anythingلِّمَنِLimanilFor whomٱلۡمُلۡكُMulkul(is) the DominionٱلۡيَوۡمَۖYawm?this DayلِلَّهِLillaahilFor AllahٱلۡوَٰحِدِWaaḥidilthe OneٱلۡقَهَّارِQ̣ahhaar!the Irresistible١٦
40:17ٱلۡيَوۡمَʹAl-YawmaThis Dayتُجۡزَىٰtujzaawill be recompensedكُلُّkullueveryنَفۡسِۭnafsimsoulبِمَاbimaafor whatكَسَبَتۡۚKasabatit earnedلَاlaaNoظُلۡمَz̤̣ulmalinjusticeٱلۡيَوۡمَۚYawm.todayإِنَّʹInnalIndeedٱللَّهَlaahaAllahسَرِيعُSareeʻul(is) SwiftٱلۡحِسَابِḤisaab.(in) Account١٧
40:18وَأَنذِرۡهُمۡWa-ʹañẓirhumAnd warn themيَوۡمَYawmal(of the) DayٱلۡأٓزِفَةِʹAazifatithe Approachingإِذِʹiẓilwhenٱلۡقُلُوبُq̣uloobuthe heartsلَدَىladal(are) atٱلۡحَنَاجِرِḥanaajirithe throatsكَٰظِمِينَۚkaaz̤̣imeen;chokedمَاmaa-Notلِلظَّٰلِمِينَliz̤̣z̤̣aalimeenafor the wrongdoersمِنۡminanyحَمِيمٖḥameemiñwintimate friendوَلَاwalaaand noشَفِيعٖshafeeʻiñyintercessorيُطَاعُyuṭaaʻ.(who) is obeyed١٨
40:19يَعۡلَمُYaʻlamuHe knowsخَآئِنَةَkhaaaʹinatal(the) stealthy glanceٱلۡأَعۡيُنِʹaʻyuni(the) stealthy glanceوَمَاwa-maaand whatتُخۡفِيtukhfiṣconcealٱلصُّدُورُṣudoor.the breasts١٩
40:20وَٱللَّهُWallaahuAnd Allahيَقۡضِيyaq̣ḍeejudgesبِٱلۡحَقِّۖbil-Ḥaq̣q̣:in truthوَٱلَّذِينَwallaẓeenawhile those (whom)يَدۡعُونَyadʻoonathey invokeمِنmiñbesides Himدُونِهِۦdooniheebesides Himلَاlaa-notيَقۡضُونَyaq̣ḍoonathey judgeبِشَيۡءٍۗbishayʹwith anythingإِنَّʹInnalIndeedٱللَّهَlaahaAllah هُوَHuwasHeٱلسَّمِيعُSameeʻul(is) the All-HearerٱلۡبَصِيرُBaṣeer.the All-Seer٢٠
40:21۞أَوَلَمۡʹAwalamDo notيَسِيرُواْyaseeroothey travelفِيfilinٱلۡأَرۡضِʹarḍithe earthفَيَنظُرُواْfayañz̤̣urooand seeكَيۡفَkayfahowكَانَkaanawasعَٰقِبَةُʻAaq̣ibatul(the) endٱلَّذِينَlaẓeena(of) those whoكَانُواْkaanoowereمِنmiñbefore themقَبۡلِهِمۡۚq̣ablihim?before themكَانُواْKaanooThey wereهُمۡhum[they]أَشَدَّʹashaddasuperiorمِنۡهُمۡminhumto themقُوَّةٗq̣uwwatañw(in) strengthوَءَاثَارٗاwaʹaas̤aarañand (in) impressionsفِيfilinٱلۡأَرۡضِʹarḍithe landفَأَخَذَهُمُfaʹakhaẓahumulbut Allah seized themٱللَّهُlaahubut Allah seized themبِذُنُوبِهِمۡbiẓunoobihim:for their sinsوَمَاwa-maaand notكَانَkaanawasلَهُمlahumfor themمِّنَminalagainstٱللَّهِlaahiAllahمِنmiñwanyوَاقٖwaaq̣.protector٢١
40:22ذَٰلِكَẒaalikaThatبِأَنَّهُمۡbiʹannahum(was) because [they]كَانَتkaanatused to come to themتَّأۡتِيهِمۡtaʹteehimused to come to themرُسُلُهُمrusuluhum̃their Messengersبِٱلۡبَيِّنَٰتِbilbayyinaatiwith clear proofsفَكَفَرُواْfakafaroobut they disbelievedفَأَخَذَهُمُfaʹakhaẓahumulSo Allah seized themٱللَّهُۚlaah:So Allah seized themإِنَّهُۥʹinnahooIndeed HeقَوِيّٞQ̣awiyyuñ(is) All-StrongشَدِيدُShadeedulsevereٱلۡعِقَابِʻiq̣aab.(in) punishment٢٢
40:23وَلَقَدۡWa-laq̣adAnd certainlyأَرۡسَلۡنَاʹarsalnaaWe sentمُوسَىٰMoosaaMusaبِـَٔايَٰتِنَاbiʹAayaatinaawith Our Signsوَسُلۡطَٰنٖwa-Ṣultaanimand an authorityمُّبِينٍmubeen,clear٢٣
40:24إِلَىٰʹIlaaToفِرۡعَوۡنَFirʻawnaFiraunوَهَٰمَٰنَwa-HaamaanaHamanوَقَٰرُونَwa-Q̣aaroonaand Qarunفَقَالُواْfaq̣aaloobut they saidسَٰحِرٞsaaḥiruñA magicianكَذَّابٞkaẓẓaab!a liar٢٤
40:25فَلَمَّاFalammaaThen whenجَآءَهُمjaaʹahum̃he brought to themبِٱلۡحَقِّbil-Ḥaq̣q̣ithe truthمِنۡminfromعِندِنَاʻiñdinaaUsقَالُواْq̣aaluq̣they saidٱقۡتُلُوٓاْtuloooKillأَبۡنَآءَʹabnaaaʹal(the) sonsٱلَّذِينَlaẓeena(of) those whoءَامَنُواْʹaamanoobelieveمَعَهُۥmaʻahoowith himوَٱسۡتَحۡيُواْwastaḥyooand let liveنِسَآءَهُمۡۚnisaaaʹahum.their womenوَمَاWa-maaAnd notكَيۡدُkaydul(is the) plotٱلۡكَٰفِرِينَkaafireena(of) the disbelieversإِلَّاʹillaabutفِيfeeinضَلَٰلٖḍalaal!...error٢٥
