40:2تَنزِيلُtanzilu(The) revelationٱلۡكِتَٰبِal-kitabi(of) the Bookمِنَmina(is) fromٱللَّهِal-lahiAllahٱلۡعَزِيزِal-'azizithe All-Mightyٱلۡعَلِيمِal-'alimithe All-Knower٢
40:3غَافِرِghafiri(The) Forgiverٱلذَّنۢبِal-dhanbi(of) the sinوَقَابِلِwaqabiliand (the) Acceptorٱلتَّوۡبِal-tawbi(of) [the] repentanceشَدِيدِshadidisevereٱلۡعِقَابِal-'iqabi(in) the punishmentذِيdhiOwner (of) the abundanceٱلطَّوۡلِۖal-tawliOwner (of) the abundanceلَآla(There is) noإِلَٰهَilahagodإِلَّاillaexceptهُوَۖhuwaHimإِلَيۡهِilayhito Himٱلۡمَصِيرُal-masiru(is) the final return٣
40:4مَاmaNotيُجَٰدِلُyujadiludisputeفِيٓficoncerningءَايَٰتِayati(the) Versesٱللَّهِal-lahi(of) Allahإِلَّاillaexceptٱلَّذِينَalladhinathose whoكَفَرُواْkafarudisbelieveفَلَاfalaso (let) notيَغۡرُرۡكَyaghrur'kadeceive youتَقَلُّبُهُمۡtaqallubuhumtheir movementفِيfiinٱلۡبِلَٰدِal-biladithe cities٤
40:5كَذَّبَتۡkadhabatDeniedقَبۡلَهُمۡqablahumbefore themقَوۡمُqawmu(the) peopleنُوحٖnuhin(of) Nuhوَٱلۡأَحۡزَابُwal-ahzabuand the factionsمِنۢminafter themبَعۡدِهِمۡۖba'dihimafter themوَهَمَّتۡwahammatand plottedكُلُّkullueveryأُمَّةِۭummatinnationبِرَسُولِهِمۡbirasulihimagainst their Messengerلِيَأۡخُذُوهُۖliyakhudhuhuto seize himوَجَٰدَلُواْwajadaluand they disputedبِٱلۡبَٰطِلِbil-batiliby falsehoodلِيُدۡحِضُواْliyud'hiduto refuteبِهِbihitherebyٱلۡحَقَّal-haqathe truthفَأَخَذۡتُهُمۡۖfa-akhadhtuhumSo I seized themفَكَيۡفَfakayfaThen howكَانَkanawasعِقَابِiqabiMy penalty٥
40:6وَكَذَٰلِكَwakadhalikaAnd thusحَقَّتۡhaqqathas been justifiedكَلِمَتُkalimatu(the) Wordرَبِّكَrabbika(of) your Lordعَلَىalaagainstٱلَّذِينَalladhinathose whoكَفَرُوٓاْkafarudisbelievedأَنَّهُمۡannahumthat theyأَصۡحَٰبُashabu(are) companionsٱلنَّارِal-nari(of) the Fire٦
40:7ٱلَّذِينَalladhinaThose whoيَحۡمِلُونَyahmilunabearٱلۡعَرۡشَal-'arshathe Throneوَمَنۡwamanand whoحَوۡلَهُۥhawlahu(are) around itيُسَبِّحُونَyusabbihunaglorifyبِحَمۡدِbihamdi(the) praisesرَبِّهِمۡrabbihim(of) their Lordوَيُؤۡمِنُونَwayu'minunaand believeبِهِۦbihiin Himوَيَسۡتَغۡفِرُونَwayastaghfirunaand ask forgivenessلِلَّذِينَlilladhinafor those whoءَامَنُواْۖamanubelieveرَبَّنَاrabbanaOur Lordوَسِعۡتَwasi'taYou encompassكُلَّkullaallشَيۡءٖshayinthingsرَّحۡمَةٗrahmatan(by Your) Mercyوَعِلۡمٗاwa'il'manand knowledgeفَٱغۡفِرۡfa-igh'firso forgiveلِلَّذِينَlilladhinathose whoتَابُواْtaburepentوَٱتَّبَعُواْwa-ittaba'uand followسَبِيلَكَsabilakaYour Wayوَقِهِمۡwaqihimand save them (from)عَذَابَadhaba(the) punishmentٱلۡجَحِيمِal-jahimi(of) the Hellfire٧
40:8رَبَّنَاrabbanaOur Lordوَأَدۡخِلۡهُمۡwa-adkhil'humAnd admit themجَنَّٰتِjannati(to) Gardensعَدۡنٍadnin(of) Edenٱلَّتِيallatiwhichوَعَدتَّهُمۡwa'adttahumYou have promised themوَمَنwamanand whoeverصَلَحَsalaha(was) righteousمِنۡminamongءَابَآئِهِمۡabaihimtheir fathersوَأَزۡوَٰجِهِمۡwa-azwajihimand their spousesوَذُرِّيَّٰتِهِمۡۚwadhurriyyatihimand their offspringإِنَّكَinnakaIndeed YouأَنتَantaYouٱلۡعَزِيزُal-'azizu(are) the All-Mightyٱلۡحَكِيمُal-hakimuthe All-Wise٨
40:9وَقِهِمُwaqihimuAnd protect themٱلسَّيِّـَٔاتِۚal-sayiati(from) the evilsوَمَنwamanAnd whoeverتَقِtaqiyou protectٱلسَّيِّـَٔاتِal-sayiati(from) the evilsيَوۡمَئِذٖyawma-idhinthat Dayفَقَدۡfaqadthen verilyرَحِمۡتَهُۥۚrahim'tahuYou have bestowed mercy on himوَذَٰلِكَwadhalikaAnd thatهُوَhuwa[it]ٱلۡفَوۡزُal-fawzu(is) the successٱلۡعَظِيمُal-'azimuthe great٩
40:10إِنَّinnaIndeedٱلَّذِينَalladhinathose whoكَفَرُواْkafarudisbelievedيُنَادَوۡنَyunadawnawill be cried out to themلَمَقۡتُlamaqtuCertainly Allah's hatredٱللَّهِal-lahiCertainly Allah's hatredأَكۡبَرُakbaru(was) greaterمِنminthanمَّقۡتِكُمۡmaqtikumyour hatredأَنفُسَكُمۡanfusakum(of) yourselvesإِذۡidhwhenتُدۡعَوۡنَtud'awnayou were calledإِلَىilatoٱلۡإِيمَٰنِal-imanithe faithفَتَكۡفُرُونَfatakfurunaand you disbelieved١٠
40:11قَالُواْqaluThey (will) sayرَبَّنَآrabbanaOur LordأَمَتَّنَاamattanaYou gave us deathٱثۡنَتَيۡنِith'nataynitwiceوَأَحۡيَيۡتَنَاwa-ahyaytanaand You gave us lifeٱثۡنَتَيۡنِith'nataynitwiceفَٱعۡتَرَفۡنَاfa-i'tarafnaand we confessبِذُنُوبِنَاbidhunubinaour sinsفَهَلۡfahalSo is (there)إِلَىٰilatoخُرُوجٖkhurujinget outمِّنminanyسَبِيلٖsabilinway١١
40:12ذَٰلِكُمdhalikumThatبِأَنَّهُۥٓbi-annahu(is) becauseإِذَاidhawhenدُعِيَdu'iyaAllah was invokedٱللَّهُal-lahuAllah was invokedوَحۡدَهُۥwahdahuAloneكَفَرۡتُمۡkafartumyou disbelievedوَإِنwa-inbut ifيُشۡرَكۡyush'rak(others) were associatedبِهِۦbihiwith Himتُؤۡمِنُواْۚtu'minuyou believedفَٱلۡحُكۡمُfal-huk'muSo the judgmentلِلَّهِlillahi(is) with Allahٱلۡعَلِيِّal-'aliyithe Most Highٱلۡكَبِيرِal-kabirithe Most Great١٢
40:13هُوَhuwaHeٱلَّذِيalladhi(is) the One Whoيُرِيكُمۡyurikumshows youءَايَٰتِهِۦayatihiHis Signsوَيُنَزِّلُwayunazziluand sends downلَكُمlakumfor youمِّنَminafromٱلسَّمَآءِal-samaithe skyرِزۡقٗاۚriz'qanprovisionوَمَاwamaBut (does) notيَتَذَكَّرُyatadhakkarutake heedإِلَّاillaexceptمَنman(one) whoيُنِيبُyunibuturns١٣
40:14فَٱدۡعُواْfa-id'uSo invokeٱللَّهَal-lahaAllahمُخۡلِصِينَmukh'lisina(being) sincereلَهُlahuto Himٱلدِّينَal-dina(in) the religionوَلَوۡwalaweven thoughكَرِهَkarihadislike (it)ٱلۡكَٰفِرُونَal-kafirunathe disbelievers١٤
40:15رَفِيعُrafi'uPossessor of the Highest Ranksٱلدَّرَجَٰتِal-darajatiPossessor of the Highest RanksذُوdhuOwner (of) the Throneٱلۡعَرۡشِal-'arshiOwner (of) the Throneيُلۡقِيyul'qiHe placesٱلرُّوحَal-ruhathe inspirationمِنۡminofأَمۡرِهِۦamrihiHis CommandعَلَىٰalauponمَنmanwhomيَشَآءُyashauHe willsمِنۡminofعِبَادِهِۦibadihiHis slavesلِيُنذِرَliyundhirato warnيَوۡمَyawma(of the) Dayٱلتَّلَاقِal-talaqi(of) the Meeting١٥
40:16يَوۡمَyawma(The) Dayهُمhumtheyبَٰرِزُونَۖbarizunacome forthلَاlanotيَخۡفَىٰyakhfais hiddenعَلَىalafromٱللَّهِal-lahiAllahمِنۡهُمۡmin'humabout themشَيۡءٞۚshayonanythingلِّمَنِlimaniFor whomٱلۡمُلۡكُal-mul'ku(is) the Dominionٱلۡيَوۡمَۖal-yawmathis DayلِلَّهِlillahiFor Allahٱلۡوَٰحِدِal-wahidithe Oneٱلۡقَهَّارِal-qaharithe Irresistible١٦
40:17ٱلۡيَوۡمَal-yawmaThis Dayتُجۡزَىٰtuj'zawill be recompensedكُلُّkullueveryنَفۡسِۭnafsinsoulبِمَاbimafor whatكَسَبَتۡۚkasabatit earnedلَاlaNoظُلۡمَzul'mainjusticeٱلۡيَوۡمَۚal-yawmatodayإِنَّinnaIndeedٱللَّهَal-lahaAllahسَرِيعُsari'u(is) Swiftٱلۡحِسَابِal-hisabi(in) Account١٧
40:18وَأَنذِرۡهُمۡwa-andhir'humAnd warn themيَوۡمَyawma(of the) Dayٱلۡأٓزِفَةِal-azifatithe Approachingإِذِidhiwhenٱلۡقُلُوبُal-qulubuthe heartsلَدَىlada(are) atٱلۡحَنَاجِرِal-hanajirithe throatsكَٰظِمِينَۚkaziminachokedمَاmaNotلِلظَّٰلِمِينَlilzzaliminafor the wrongdoersمِنۡminanyحَمِيمٖhamiminintimate friendوَلَاwalaand noشَفِيعٖshafi'inintercessorيُطَاعُyuta'u(who) is obeyed١٨
40:19يَعۡلَمُya'lamuHe knowsخَآئِنَةَkhainata(the) stealthy glanceٱلۡأَعۡيُنِal-a'yuni(the) stealthy glanceوَمَاwamaand whatتُخۡفِيtukh'ficoncealٱلصُّدُورُal-suduruthe breasts١٩
40:20وَٱللَّهُwal-lahuAnd Allahيَقۡضِيyaqdijudgesبِٱلۡحَقِّۖbil-haqiin truthوَٱلَّذِينَwa-alladhinawhile those (whom)يَدۡعُونَyad'unathey invokeمِنminbesides Himدُونِهِۦdunihibesides Himلَاlanotيَقۡضُونَyaqdunathey judgeبِشَيۡءٍۗbishayinwith anythingإِنَّinnaIndeedٱللَّهَal-lahaAllah هُوَhuwaHeٱلسَّمِيعُal-sami'u(is) the All-Hearerٱلۡبَصِيرُal-basiruthe All-Seer٢٠
40:21۞أَوَلَمۡawalamDo notيَسِيرُواْyasiruthey travelفِيfiinٱلۡأَرۡضِal-ardithe earthفَيَنظُرُواْfayanzuruand seeكَيۡفَkayfahowكَانَkanawasعَٰقِبَةُaqibatu(the) endٱلَّذِينَalladhina(of) those whoكَانُواْkanuwereمِنminbefore themقَبۡلِهِمۡۚqablihimbefore themكَانُواْkanuThey wereهُمۡhum[they]أَشَدَّashaddasuperiorمِنۡهُمۡmin'humto themقُوَّةٗquwwatan(in) strengthوَءَاثَارٗاwaatharanand (in) impressionsفِيfiinٱلۡأَرۡضِal-ardithe landفَأَخَذَهُمُfa-akhadhahumubut Allah seized themٱللَّهُal-lahubut Allah seized themبِذُنُوبِهِمۡbidhunubihimfor their sinsوَمَاwamaand notكَانَkanawasلَهُمlahumfor themمِّنَminaagainstٱللَّهِal-lahiAllahمِنminanyوَاقٖwaqinprotector٢١
40:22ذَٰلِكَdhalikaThatبِأَنَّهُمۡbi-annahum(was) because [they]كَانَتkanatused to come to themتَّأۡتِيهِمۡtatihimused to come to themرُسُلُهُمrusuluhumtheir Messengersبِٱلۡبَيِّنَٰتِbil-bayinatiwith clear proofsفَكَفَرُواْfakafarubut they disbelievedفَأَخَذَهُمُfa-akhadhahumuSo Allah seized themٱللَّهُۚal-lahuSo Allah seized themإِنَّهُۥinnahuIndeed Heقَوِيّٞqawiyyun(is) All-Strongشَدِيدُshadidusevereٱلۡعِقَابِal-'iqabi(in) punishment٢٢
40:23وَلَقَدۡwalaqadAnd certainlyأَرۡسَلۡنَاarsalnaWe sentمُوسَىٰmusaMusaبِـَٔايَٰتِنَاbiayatinawith Our Signsوَسُلۡطَٰنٖwasul'taninand an authorityمُّبِينٍmubininclear٢٣
40:24إِلَىٰilaToفِرۡعَوۡنَfir'awnaFiraunوَهَٰمَٰنَwahamanaHamanوَقَٰرُونَwaqarunaand Qarunفَقَالُواْfaqalubut they saidسَٰحِرٞsahirunA magicianكَذَّابٞkadhabuna liar٢٤
40:25فَلَمَّاfalammaThen whenجَآءَهُمjaahumhe brought to themبِٱلۡحَقِّbil-haqithe truthمِنۡminfromعِندِنَاindinaUsقَالُواْqaluthey saidٱقۡتُلُوٓاْuq'tuluKillأَبۡنَآءَabnaa(the) sonsٱلَّذِينَalladhina(of) those whoءَامَنُواْamanubelieveمَعَهُۥma'ahuwith himوَٱسۡتَحۡيُواْwa-is'tahyuand let liveنِسَآءَهُمۡۚnisaahumtheir womenوَمَاwamaAnd notكَيۡدُkaydu(is the) plotٱلۡكَٰفِرِينَal-kafirina(of) the disbelieversإِلَّاillabutفِيfiinضَلَٰلٖdalalinerror٢٥
