(of) his brother

he brought it out

ʹakheeh.

كَذَٰلِكَ
Kaẓaalika
Thus
كِدۡنَا
kidnaa
(did) We plan
لِيُوسُفَۖ
li-Yoosuf.
for Yusuf
مَا
Maa-
He could not
كَانَ
kaana
He could not
لِيَأۡخُذَ
liyaʹkhuẓa
take
أَخَاهُ
ʹakhaahu
his brother
فِي
fee
by
دِينِ
deenil
the law
ٱلۡمَلِكِ
maliki
(of) the king
إِلَّآ
ʹillaaa
except
أَن
ʹañy
that
يَشَآءَ
yashaaaʹal
Allah willed
ٱللَّهُۚ
laah.
Allah willed
نَرۡفَعُ
Narfaʻu
We raise
دَرَجَٰتٖ
darajaatim
(in) degrees
مَّن
man
whom
نَّشَآءُۗ
nashaaaʹ:
We will
وَفَوۡقَ
wa-fawq̣a
but over
كُلِّ
kulli
every
ذِي
ẓee
possessor
عِلۡمٍ
ʻilmin
(of) knowledge
عَلِيمٞ
ʻAleem.
(is) the All-Knower
٧٦
12:77
۞قَالُوٓاْ
Q̣aalooo
They said
إِن
ʹiñy
If
يَسۡرِقۡ
yasriq̣
he steals
فَقَدۡ
faq̣ad
then verily
سَرَقَ
saraq̣a
stole
أَخٞ
ʹakhul
a brother
لَّهُۥ
lahoo
of his
مِن
miñ
before
قَبۡلُۚ
q̣abl.
before
فَأَسَرَّهَا
Faʹasarrahaa
But Yusuf kept it secret
يُوسُفُ
Yoosufu
But Yusuf kept it secret
فِي
fee
within
نَفۡسِهِۦ
nafsihee
himself
وَلَمۡ
wa-lam
and (did) not
يُبۡدِهَا
yubdihaa
reveal it
لَهُمۡۚ
lahum.
to them
قَالَ
Q̣aala
He said
أَنتُمۡ
ʹañtum
You
شَرّٞ
sharrum
(are the) worse
مَّكَانٗاۖ
makaanaa;
(in) position
وَٱللَّهُ
wallaahu
and Allah
أَعۡلَمُ
ʹaʻlamu
knows best
بِمَا
bimaa
of what
تَصِفُونَ
taṣifoon!
you describe
٧٧
12:78
قَالُواْ
Q̣aaloo
They said
يَٰٓأَيُّهَا
yaaaʹayyuhal
O
ٱلۡعَزِيزُ
ʻAzeezu
Aziz
إِنَّ
ʹinna
Indeed
لَهُۥٓ
lahooo
he has
أَبٗا
ʹabañ
a father
شَيۡخٗا
shaykhañ
old
كَبِيرٗا
kabeerañ
[great]
فَخُذۡ
fakhuẓ
so take
أَحَدَنَا
ʹaḥadanaa
one of us
مَكَانَهُۥٓۖ
makaanah;
(in) his place
إِنَّا
ʹinnaa
Indeed we
نَرَىٰكَ
naraaka
[we] see you
مِنَ
minal
of
ٱلۡمُحۡسِنِينَ
Muḥsineen.
the good-doers
٧٨

12:79
قَالَ
Q̣aala
He said
مَعَاذَ
maʻaaẓal
Allah forbid
ٱللَّهِ
laahi
Allah forbid
أَن
ʹan
that
نَّأۡخُذَ
naʹkhuẓa
we take
إِلَّا
ʹillaa
except
مَن
mañw
(one) who
وَجَدۡنَا
wajadnaa
we found
مَتَٰعَنَا
mataaʻanaa
our possession
عِندَهُۥٓ
ʻiñdahooo
with him
إِنَّآ
ʹinnaaa
Indeed we
إِذٗا
ʹiẓal
then
لَّظَٰلِمُونَ
laz̤̣aalimoon.
surely (would be) wrongdoers
٧٩
12:80
فَلَمَّا
Falammas
So when
ٱسۡتَيۡـَٔسُواْ
tayʹasoo
they despaired
مِنۡهُ
minhu
of him
خَلَصُواْ
khalaṣoo
they secluded themselves
نَجِيّٗاۖ
najiyyaa.
(in) private consultation
قَالَ
Q̣aala
Said
كَبِيرُهُمۡ
kabeeruhum
the eldest among them
أَلَمۡ
ʹalam
Do not
تَعۡلَمُوٓاْ
taʻlamooo
you know
أَنَّ
ʹanna
that
أَبَاكُمۡ
ʹabaakum
your father
قَدۡ
q̣ad
has taken
أَخَذَ
ʹakhaẓa
has taken
عَلَيۡكُم
ʻalaykum
upon you
مَّوۡثِقٗا
maws̤iq̣am
a promise
مِّنَ
minal
by
ٱللَّهِ
laahi
Allah
وَمِن
wamiñ
and before
قَبۡلُ
q̣ablu
and before
مَا
maa-
that
فَرَّطتُمۡ
farraṭtum
you failed
فِي
fee
concerning
يُوسُفَۖ
Yoosuf?
Yusuf
فَلَنۡ
Falan
So never
أَبۡرَحَ
ʹabraḥal
will I leave
ٱلۡأَرۡضَ
ʹarḍa
the land
حَتَّىٰ
ḥattaa
until
يَأۡذَنَ
yaʹẓana
permits
لِيٓ
leee
me
أَبِيٓ
ʹabeee
my father
أَوۡ
ʹaw
or
يَحۡكُمَ
yaḥkumal
Allah decides
ٱللَّهُ
laahu
Allah decides
لِيۖ
lee;
for me
وَهُوَ
wa-huwa
and He
خَيۡرُ
khayrul
(is) the Best
ٱلۡحَٰكِمِينَ
ḥaakimeen.
(of) the judges
٨٠
12:81
ٱرۡجِعُوٓاْ
ʹIrjiʻooo
Return
إِلَىٰٓ
ʹilaaa
to
أَبِيكُمۡ
ʹabeekum
your father
فَقُولُواْ
faq̣ooloo
and say
يَٰٓأَبَانَآ
yaaaʹabaanaaa
O our father
إِنَّ
ʹinnab
Indeed
ٱبۡنَكَ
naka
your son
سَرَقَ
saraq̣!
has stolen
وَمَا
Wa-maa
and not
شَهِدۡنَآ
shahidnaaa
we testify
إِلَّا
ʹillaa
except
بِمَا
bimaa
of what
عَلِمۡنَا
ʻalimnaa
we knew
وَمَا
wa-maa
And not
كُنَّا
kunnaa
we were
لِلۡغَيۡبِ
lilg̣aybi
of the unseen
حَٰفِظِينَ
ḥaafiz̤̣een!
guardians
٨١
12:82
وَسۡـَٔلِ
Wasʹalil
And ask
ٱلۡقَرۡيَةَ
q̣aryatal
the town
ٱلَّتِي
latee
where
كُنَّا
kunnaa
we were
فِيهَا
feehaa
[in it]
وَٱلۡعِيرَ
walʻeeral
and the caravan
ٱلَّتِيٓ
lateee
which
أَقۡبَلۡنَا
ʹaq̣balnaa
we returned
فِيهَاۖ
feehaa,
[in it]
وَإِنَّا
wa-ʹinnaa
And indeed we
لَصَٰدِقُونَ
laṣaadiq̣oon.
surely (are) truthful
٨٢
12:83
قَالَ
Q̣aala
He said
بَلۡ
bal
Nay
سَوَّلَتۡ
sawwalat
have enticed
لَكُمۡ
lakum
you
أَنفُسُكُمۡ
ʹañfusukum
your souls
أَمۡرٗاۖ
ʹamraa.
something
فَصَبۡرٞ
Faṣabruñ
so patience
جَمِيلٌۖ
jameel.
(is) beautiful
عَسَى
ʻAsal
Perhaps
ٱللَّهُ
laahu
Allah
أَن
ʹañy
will bring them to me
يَأۡتِيَنِي
yaʹ-tiyanee
will bring them to me
بِهِمۡ
bihim
will bring them to me
جَمِيعًاۚ
jameeʻaa.
all
إِنَّهُۥ
ʹInna-Hoo
Indeed He
هُوَ
Huwal
He
ٱلۡعَلِيمُ
ʻAleemul
(is) the All-Knower
ٱلۡحَكِيمُ
Ḥakeem.
All-Wise
٨٣
12:84
وَتَوَلَّىٰ
Wa-tawallaa
And he turned away
عَنۡهُمۡ
ʻanhum
from them
وَقَالَ
wa-q̣aala
and said
يَٰٓأَسَفَىٰ
yaaaʹasafaa
Alas my grief
عَلَىٰ
ʻalaa
over
يُوسُفَ
Yoosufa
Yusuf
وَٱبۡيَضَّتۡ
wabyaḍḍat
And became white
عَيۡنَاهُ
ʻaynaahu
his eyes
مِنَ
minal
from
ٱلۡحُزۡنِ
ḥuzni
the grief
فَهُوَ
fahuwa
and he (was)
كَظِيمٞ
kaz̤̣eem.
a suppressor
٨٤
12:85
قَالُواْ
Q̣aaloo
They said
تَٱللَّهِ
tallaahi
By Allah
تَفۡتَؤُاْ
taftaʹu
you will not cease
تَذۡكُرُ
taẓkuru
remembering
يُوسُفَ
Yoosufa
Yusuf
حَتَّىٰ
ḥattaa
until
تَكُونَ
takoona
you become
حَرَضًا
ḥaraḍan
fatally ill
أَوۡ
ʹaw
or
تَكُونَ
takoona
become
مِنَ
minal
of
ٱلۡهَٰلِكِينَ
haalikeen!
those who perish
٨٥
12:86
قَالَ
Q̣aala
He said
إِنَّمَآ
ʹinnamaaa
Only
أَشۡكُواْ
ʹashkoo
I complain
بَثِّي
bas̤s̤ee
(of) my suffering
وَحُزۡنِيٓ
waḥuzneee
and my grief
إِلَى
ʹilal
to
ٱللَّهِ
laahi
Allah
وَأَعۡلَمُ
wa-ʹaʻlamu
and I know
مِنَ
minal
from
ٱللَّهِ
laahi
Allah
مَا
maa
what
لَا
laa-
not
تَعۡلَمُونَ
taʻlamoon.
you know
٨٦

12:87
يَٰبَنِيَّ
Yaa-baniyyaẓ
O my sons
ٱذۡهَبُواْ
haboo
Go
فَتَحَسَّسُواْ
fataḥassasoo
and inquire
مِن
miñy
about
يُوسُفَ
Yoosufa
Yusuf
وَأَخِيهِ
wa-ʹakheehi
and his brother
وَلَا
wa-laa
and not
تَاْيۡـَٔسُواْ
tayʹasoo
despair
مِن
mir
of
رَّوۡحِ
Rawḥil
(the) Mercy of Allah
ٱللَّهِۖ
laah:
(the) Mercy of Allah
إِنَّهُۥ
ʹinnahoo
Indeed
لَا
laa-
none
يَاْيۡـَٔسُ
yayʹasu
despairs
مِن
mir
of
رَّوۡحِ
Rawḥil
(the) Mercy of Allah
ٱللَّهِ
laahi
(the) Mercy of Allah
إِلَّا
ʹillal
except
ٱلۡقَوۡمُ
q̣awmul
the people
ٱلۡكَٰفِرُونَ
Kaafiroon.
the disbelievers
٨٧
12:88
فَلَمَّا
Falammaa
So when
دَخَلُواْ
dakhaloo
they entered
عَلَيۡهِ
ʻalayhi
upon him
قَالُواْ
q̣aaloo
they said
يَٰٓأَيُّهَا
yaaaʹayyuhal
O Aziz
ٱلۡعَزِيزُ
ʻAzeezu
O Aziz
مَسَّنَا
massanaa
Has touched us
وَأَهۡلَنَا
wa-ʹahlanaḍ
and our family
ٱلضُّرُّ
ḍurru
the adversity
وَجِئۡنَا
wa-jiʹnaa
and we have come
بِبِضَٰعَةٖ
bibiḍaaʻatim
with goods
مُّزۡجَىٰةٖ
muzjaatiñ
(of) little value
فَأَوۡفِ
faʹawfi
but pay (in) full
لَنَا
lanal
to us
ٱلۡكَيۡلَ
kayla
the measure
وَتَصَدَّقۡ
wa-taṣaddaq̣
and be charitable
عَلَيۡنَآۖ
ʻalaynaa:
to us
إِنَّ
ʹinnal
Indeed
ٱللَّهَ
laaha
Allah
يَجۡزِي
yajzil
rewards
ٱلۡمُتَصَدِّقِينَ
Mutaṣaddiq̣een.
the charitable
٨٨
12:89
قَالَ
Q̣aala
He said
هَلۡ
hal
Do
عَلِمۡتُم
ʻalimtum
you know
مَّا
maa
what
فَعَلۡتُم
faʻaltum̃
you did
بِيُوسُفَ
bi-Yoosufa
with Yusuf
وَأَخِيهِ
wa-ʹakheehi
and his brother
إِذۡ
ʹiẓ
when
أَنتُمۡ
ʹañtum
you were
جَٰهِلُونَ
jaahiloon?
ignorant
٨٩
12:90
قَالُوٓاْ
Q̣aalooo
They said
أَءِنَّكَ
ʹa-ʹinnaka
Are you indeed
لَأَنتَ
laʹañta
surely you
يُوسُفُۖ
Yoosuf?
Yusuf
قَالَ
Q̣aala
He said
أَنَا۠
ʹana
I am
يُوسُفُ
Yoosufu
Yusuf
وَهَٰذَآ
wa-haaẓaaa
and this
أَخِيۖ
ʹakhee;
(is) my brother
قَدۡ
q̣ad
Indeed
مَنَّ
mannal
Allah has been gracious
ٱللَّهُ
laahu
Allah has been gracious
عَلَيۡنَآۖ
ʻalaynaa.
to us
إِنَّهُۥ
ʹInnahoo
Indeed he
مَن
mañy
who
يَتَّقِ
yattaq̣i
fears Allah
وَيَصۡبِرۡ
wa-yaṣbir
and (is) patient
فَإِنَّ
faʹinnal
then indeed
ٱللَّهَ
laaha
Allah
لَا
laa-
(does) not
يُضِيعُ
yuḍeeʻu
let go waste
أَجۡرَ
ʹajral
(the) reward
ٱلۡمُحۡسِنِينَ
Muḥsineen.
(of) the good-doers
٩٠
12:91
قَالُواْ
Q̣aaloo
They said
تَٱللَّهِ
tallaahi
By Allah
لَقَدۡ
laq̣ad
certainly
ءَاثَرَكَ
ʹaas̤arakal
Allah has preferred you
ٱللَّهُ
laahu
Allah has preferred you
عَلَيۡنَا
ʻalaynaa
over us
وَإِن
wa-ʹiñ
and indeed
كُنَّا
kunnaa
we have been
لَخَٰطِـِٔينَ
lakhaaṭiʹeen!
sinners
٩١
12:92
قَالَ
Q̣aala
He said
لَا
laa-
No
تَثۡرِيبَ
tas̤reeba
blame
عَلَيۡكُمُ
ʻalaykumul
upon you
ٱلۡيَوۡمَۖ
yawm.
today
يَغۡفِرُ
Yag̣firul
Allah will forgive
ٱللَّهُ
laahu
Allah will forgive
لَكُمۡۖ
lakum
you
وَهُوَ
wa-Huwa
and He
أَرۡحَمُ
ʹArḥamur
(is) the Most Merciful
ٱلرَّٰحِمِينَ
raaḥimeen!
(of) those who show mercy
٩٢
12:93
ٱذۡهَبُواْ
ʹIẓhaboo
Go
بِقَمِيصِي
biq̣ameeṣee
with this shirt of mine
هَٰذَا
haaẓaa
with this shirt of mine
فَأَلۡقُوهُ
faʹalq̣oohu
and cast it
عَلَىٰ
ʻalaa
over
وَجۡهِ
wajhi
(the) face
أَبِي
ʹabee
(of) my father
يَأۡتِ
yaʹti
he will regain sight
بَصِيرٗا
baṣeeraa.
he will regain sight
وَأۡتُونِي
Waʹtoonee
And bring to me
بِأَهۡلِكُمۡ
biʹahlikum
your family
أَجۡمَعِينَ
ʹajmaʻeen.
all together
٩٣
12:94
وَلَمَّا
Wa-lammaa
And when
فَصَلَتِ
faṣalatil
departed
ٱلۡعِيرُ
ʻeeru
the caravan
قَالَ
q̣aala
their father said
أَبُوهُمۡ
ʹaboohum
their father said
إِنِّي
ʹinnee
Indeed I
لَأَجِدُ
laʹajidu
[I] find
رِيحَ
reeḥa
(the) smell
يُوسُفَۖ
Yoosufa
(of) Yusuf
لَوۡلَآ
Laaa-law
if not
أَن
ʹañ
that
تُفَنِّدُونِ
tufannidoon.
you think me weakened in mind
٩٤
12:95
قَالُواْ
Q̣aaloo
They said
تَٱللَّهِ
tallaahi
By Allah
إِنَّكَ
ʹinnaka
indeed you
لَفِي
lafee
surely (are) in
ضَلَٰلِكَ
ḍalaalikal
your error
ٱلۡقَدِيمِ
q̣adeem.

12:96
فَلَمَّآ
Falammaaa
Then when
أَن
ʹañ
[that]
جَآءَ
jaaa
arrived
ٱلۡبَشِيرُ
ʹalbasheeru
the bearer of glad tidings
أَلۡقَىٰهُ
ʹalq̣aahu
he cast it
عَلَىٰ
ʻalaa
over
وَجۡهِهِۦ
wajhihee
his face
فَٱرۡتَدَّ
fartadda
then returned (his) sight
بَصِيرٗاۖ
baṣeeraa.
then returned (his) sight
قَالَ
Q̣aala
He said
أَلَمۡ
ʹalam
Did not
أَقُل
ʹaq̣ul
I say
لَّكُمۡ
lakum.
to you
إِنِّيٓ
ʹinneee
indeed I
أَعۡلَمُ
ʹaʻlamu
[I] know
مِنَ
minal
from
ٱللَّهِ
laahi
Allah
مَا
maa
what
لَا
laa-
not
تَعۡلَمُونَ
taʻlamoon?
you know
٩٦
12:97
قَالُواْ
Q̣aaloo
They said
يَٰٓأَبَانَا
yaaaʹabaanas
O our father
ٱسۡتَغۡفِرۡ
tag̣fir
Ask forgiveness
لَنَا
lanaa
for us
ذُنُوبَنَآ
ẓunoobanaaa
(of) our sins
إِنَّا
ʹinnaa
Indeed we
كُنَّا
kunnaa
have been
خَٰطِـِٔينَ
khaaṭiʹeen.
sinners
٩٧
12:98
قَالَ
Q̣aala
He said
سَوۡفَ
sawfa
Soon
أَسۡتَغۡفِرُ
ʹastag̣firu
I will ask forgiveness
لَكُمۡ
lakum
for you
رَبِّيٓۖ
Rabbee:
(from) my Lord
إِنَّهُۥ
ʹinna-Hoo
Indeed He
هُوَ
Huwal
He
ٱلۡغَفُورُ
G̣afoorur
(is) the Oft-Forgiving
ٱلرَّحِيمُ
Raḥeem.
the Most Merciful
٩٨
12:99
فَلَمَّا
Falammaa
Then when
دَخَلُواْ
dakhaloo
they entered
عَلَىٰ
ʻalaa
upon
يُوسُفَ
Yoosufa
Yusuf
ءَاوَىٰٓ
ʹaawaaa
he took
إِلَيۡهِ
ʹilayhi
to himself
أَبَوَيۡهِ
ʹabawayhi
his parents
وَقَالَ
wa-q̣aalad
and said
ٱدۡخُلُواْ
khuloo
Enter
مِصۡرَ
Miṣra
Egypt
إِن
ʹiñ
if
شَآءَ
shaaa
Allah wills
ٱللَّهُ
ʹallaahu
Allah wills
ءَامِنِينَ
ʹaamineen.
safe
٩٩
12:100
وَرَفَعَ
Wa-rafaʻa
And he raised
أَبَوَيۡهِ
ʹabawayhi
his parents
عَلَى
ʻalal
upon
ٱلۡعَرۡشِ
ʻarshi
the throne
وَخَرُّواْ
wa-kharroo
and they fell down
لَهُۥ
lahoo
to him
سُجَّدٗاۖ
sujjadaa.
prostrate
وَقَالَ
Wa-q̣aala
And he said
يَٰٓأَبَتِ
yaaaʹabati
O my father
هَٰذَا
haaẓaa
This
تَأۡوِيلُ
taʹweelu
(is the) interpretation
رُءۡيَٰيَ
ruʹyaaya
(of) my dream
مِن
miñ
(of) before
قَبۡلُ
q̣ablu
(of) before
قَدۡ
q̣ad
Verily
جَعَلَهَا
jaʻalahaa
has made it
رَبِّي
Rabbee
my Lord
حَقّٗاۖ
ḥaq̣q̣aa!
true
وَقَدۡ
Wa-q̣ad
And indeed
أَحۡسَنَ
ʹaḥsana
He was good
بِيٓ
beee
to me
إِذۡ
ʹiẓ
when
أَخۡرَجَنِي
ʹakhrajanee
He took me out
مِنَ
minas
of
ٱلسِّجۡنِ
sijni
the prison
وَجَآءَ
wa-jaaaʹa
and brought
بِكُم
bikum
you
مِّنَ
minal
from
ٱلۡبَدۡوِ
badwi
the bedouin life
مِنۢ
mim
after
بَعۡدِ
baʻdi
after
أَن
ʹan
[that]
نَّزَغَ
nazag̣ash
had caused discord
ٱلشَّيۡطَٰنُ
shayṭaanu
the Shaitaan
بَيۡنِي
baynee
between me
وَبَيۡنَ
wa-bayna
and between
إِخۡوَتِيٓۚ
ʹikhwatee.
my brothers
إِنَّ
ʹInna
Indeed
رَبِّي
Rabbee
my Lord
لَطِيفٞ
Laṭeeful
(is) Most Subtle
لِّمَا
limaa
to what
يَشَآءُۚ
yashaaaʹ.
He wills
إِنَّهُۥ
ʹInna-Hoo
Indeed He
هُوَ
Huwal
He
ٱلۡعَلِيمُ
ʻAleemul
(is) the All-Knower
ٱلۡحَكِيمُ
Ḥakeem.
the All-Wise
