Yusuf
عَن

نَّفۡسِهِۦۚ
nafsih?

قُلۡنَ
Q̣ulna
They said
حَٰشَ
Ḥaasha
Allah forbid
لِلَّهِ
lillaahi
Allah forbid
مَا
maa-
Not
عَلِمۡنَا
ʻalimnaa
we know
عَلَيۡهِ
ʻalayhi
about him
مِن
miñ
any
سُوٓءٖۚ
soooʹ!
evil
قَالَتِ
Q̣aalatim
Said
ٱمۡرَأَتُ
raʹatul
(the) wife
ٱلۡعَزِيزِ
ʻAzeezil
(of) Aziz
ٱلۡـَٰٔنَ
ʹaana
Now
حَصۡحَصَ
ḥaṣḥaṣal
(is) manifest
ٱلۡحَقُّ
ḥaq̣q̣:
the truth
أَنَا۠
ʹana
I
رَٰوَدتُّهُۥ
raawattuhoo
sought to seduce him
عَن
ʻan
from
نَّفۡسِهِۦ
nafsihee
himself
وَإِنَّهُۥ
wa-ʹinnahoo
and indeed he
لَمِنَ
laminaṣ
(is) surely of
ٱلصَّٰدِقِينَ
Ṣaadiq̣een.
the truthful
٥١
12:52
ذَٰلِكَ
Ẓaalika
That
لِيَعۡلَمَ
liyaʻlama
he may know
أَنِّي
ʹannee
that I
لَمۡ
lam
not
أَخُنۡهُ
ʹakhunhu
[I] betray him
بِٱلۡغَيۡبِ
bilg̣aybi
in secret
وَأَنَّ
wa-ʹannal
and that
ٱللَّهَ
laaha
Allah
لَا
laa-
(does) not
يَهۡدِي
yahdee
guide
كَيۡدَ
kaydal
(the) plan
ٱلۡخَآئِنِينَ
khaaaʹineen.
(of) the betrayers

۞وَمَآ
Wa-maaa
And not
أُبَرِّئُ
ʹubarriʻu
I absolve
نَفۡسِيٓۚ
nafsee:
myself
إِنَّ
ʹinnan
Indeed
ٱلنَّفۡسَ
nafsa
the soul
لَأَمَّارَةُۢ
laʹammaaratum
(is) a certain enjoiner
بِٱلسُّوٓءِ
bissoooʹi
of evil
إِلَّا
ʹillaa
unless
مَا
maa-
[that]
رَحِمَ
raḥima
bestows Mercy
رَبِّيٓۚ
Rabbee:
my Lord
إِنَّ
ʹinna
Indeed
رَبِّي
Rabbee
my Lord
غَفُورٞ
G̣afoorur
(is) Oft-Forgiving
رَّحِيمٞ
Raḥeem.
Most Merciful
٥٣
12:54
وَقَالَ
Wa-q̣aalal
And said
ٱلۡمَلِكُ
malikuʹ
the king
ٱئۡتُونِي
toonee
Bring him to me
بِهِۦٓ
biheee
Bring him to me
أَسۡتَخۡلِصۡهُ
ʹastakhliṣhu
I will select him
لِنَفۡسِيۖ
linafsee.
for myself
فَلَمَّا
Falammaa
Then when
كَلَّمَهُۥ
kallamahoo
he spoke to him
قَالَ
q̣aala
he said
إِنَّكَ
ʹinnakal
Indeed you
ٱلۡيَوۡمَ
yawma
(are) today
لَدَيۡنَا
ladaynaa
with us
مَكِينٌ
makeenun
firmly established
أَمِينٞ
ʹameen!
(and) trusted
٥٤
12:55
قَالَ
Q̣aalaj
He said
ٱجۡعَلۡنِي
ʻalnee
Appoint me
عَلَىٰ
ʻalaa
over
خَزَآئِنِ
khazaaaʹinil
(the) treasuries
ٱلۡأَرۡضِۖ
ʹarḍ:
(of) the land
إِنِّي
ʹinnee
Indeed I
حَفِيظٌ
ḥafeez̤̣un
(will be) a guardian
عَلِيمٞ
ʻaleem.
knowing
٥٥
12:56
وَكَذَٰلِكَ
Wa-kaẓaalika
And thus
مَكَّنَّا
makkannaa
We established
لِيُوسُفَ
li-Yoosufa
[to] Yusuf
فِي
fil
in
ٱلۡأَرۡضِ
ʹarḍi
the land
يَتَبَوَّأُ
yatabawwaʹu
to settle
مِنۡهَا
minhaa
therein
حَيۡثُ
ḥays̤u
where ever
يَشَآءُۚ
yashaaaʹ.
he willed
نُصِيبُ
Nuṣeebu
We bestow
بِرَحۡمَتِنَا
bi-Raḥmatinaa
Our Mercy
مَن
man
(on) whom
نَّشَآءُۖ
nashaaaʹu
We will
وَلَا
wa-laa
And not
نُضِيعُ
nuḍeeʻu
We let go waste
أَجۡرَ
ʹajral
(the) reward
ٱلۡمُحۡسِنِينَ
Muḥsineen.
(of) the good-doers
٥٦
12:57
وَلَأَجۡرُ
Wa-laʹajrul
And surely (the) reward
ٱلۡأٓخِرَةِ
ʹAakhirati
(of) the Hereafter
خَيۡرٞ
khayrul
(is) better
لِّلَّذِينَ
lillaẓeena
for those who
ءَامَنُواْ
ʹaamanoo
believe
وَكَانُواْ
wa-kaanoo
and are
يَتَّقُونَ
yattaq̣oon.
God conscious

12:58
وَجَآءَ
Wa-jaaaʹa
And came
إِخۡوَةُ
ʹikhwatu
(the) brothers
يُوسُفَ
Yoosufa
(of) Yusuf
فَدَخَلُواْ
fadakhaloo
and they entered
عَلَيۡهِ
ʻalayhi
upon him
فَعَرَفَهُمۡ
faʻarafahum
and he recognized them
وَهُمۡ
wa-hum
but they
لَهُۥ
lahoo
knew him not
مُنكِرُونَ
muñkiroon.
knew him not
٥٨
12:59
وَلَمَّا
Wa-lammaa
And when
جَهَّزَهُم
jahhazahum̃
he had furnished them
بِجَهَازِهِمۡ
bijahaazihim
with their supplies
قَالَ
q̣aalaʹ
he said
ٱئۡتُونِي
toonee
Bring to me
بِأَخٖ
biʹakhil
a brother
لَّكُم
lakum
of yours
مِّنۡ
min
from
أَبِيكُمۡۚ
ʹabeekum:
your father
أَلَا
ʹalaa
Do not
تَرَوۡنَ
tarawna
you see
أَنِّيٓ
ʹanneee
that I
أُوفِي
ʹoofil
[I] give full
ٱلۡكَيۡلَ
kayla
[the] measure
وَأَنَا۠
wa-ʹana
and that I am
خَيۡرُ
khayrul
(the) best
ٱلۡمُنزِلِينَ
muñzileen?
(of) the hosts
٥٩
12:60
فَإِن
Faʹil
But if
لَّمۡ
lam
not
تَأۡتُونِي
taʹtoonee
you bring him to me
بِهِۦ
bihee
you bring him to me
فَلَا
falaa
then (there will be) no
كَيۡلَ
kayla
measure
لَكُمۡ
lakum
for you
عِندِي
ʻiñdee
from me
وَلَا
wa-laa
and not
تَقۡرَبُونِ
taq̣raboon.
you will come near me
٦٠
12:61
قَالُواْ
Q̣aaloo
They said
سَنُرَٰوِدُ
sanuraawidu
We will try to get permission
عَنۡهُ
ʻanhu
for him
أَبَاهُ
ʹabaahu
(from) his father
وَإِنَّا
wa-ʹinnaa
and indeed we
لَفَٰعِلُونَ
lafaaʻiloon.
surely will do
٦١
12:62
وَقَالَ
Wa-q̣aala
And he said
لِفِتۡيَٰنِهِ
lifityaanihij
to his servants
ٱجۡعَلُواْ
ʻaloo
Put
بِضَٰعَتَهُمۡ
biḍaaʻatahum
their merchandise
فِي
fee
in
رِحَالِهِمۡ
riḥaalihim
their saddlebags
لَعَلَّهُمۡ
laʻallahum
so that they
يَعۡرِفُونَهَآ
yaʻrifoonahaaa
may recognize it
إِذَا
ʹiẓañ
when
ٱنقَلَبُوٓاْ
q̣alabooo
they go back
إِلَىٰٓ
ʹilaaa
to
أَهۡلِهِمۡ
ʹahlihim
their people
لَعَلَّهُمۡ
laʻallahum
so that they may
يَرۡجِعُونَ
yarjiʻoon.
return
٦٢
12:63
فَلَمَّا
Falammaa
So when
رَجَعُوٓاْ
rajaʻooo
they returned
إِلَىٰٓ
ʹilaaa
to
أَبِيهِمۡ
ʹabeehim
their father
قَالُواْ
q̣aaloo
they said
يَٰٓأَبَانَا
yaaaʹabaanaa
O our father
مُنِعَ
muniʻa
Has been denied
مِنَّا
minnal
to us
ٱلۡكَيۡلُ
kaylu
the measure
فَأَرۡسِلۡ
faʹarsil
so send
مَعَنَآ
maʻanaaa
with us
أَخَانَا
ʹakhaanaa
our brother
نَكۡتَلۡ
naktal
(that) we will get measure
وَإِنَّا
wa-ʹinnaa
And indeed we
لَهُۥ
lahoo
for him
لَحَٰفِظُونَ
laḥaafiz̤̣oon.
(will) surely (be) guardians
٦٣

12:64
قَالَ
Q̣aala
He said
هَلۡ
hal
Should
ءَامَنُكُمۡ
ʹaamanukum
I entrust you
عَلَيۡهِ
ʻalayhi
with him
إِلَّا
ʹillaa
except
كَمَآ
kamaaa
as
أَمِنتُكُمۡ
ʹamiñtukum
I entrusted you
عَلَىٰٓ
ʻalaaa
with
أَخِيهِ
ʹakheehi
his brother
مِن
miñ
before
قَبۡلُ
q̣abl?
before
فَٱللَّهُ
Fal-laahu
But Allah
خَيۡرٌ
khayrun
(is) the best
حَٰفِظٗاۖ
ḥaafiz̤̣aa,
Guardian
وَهُوَ
wa-Huwa
and He
أَرۡحَمُ
ʹArḥamur
(is the) Most Merciful
ٱلرَّٰحِمِينَ
raaḥimeen!
(of) the merciful
٦٤
12:65
وَلَمَّا
Wa-lammaa
And when
فَتَحُواْ
fataḥoo
they opened
مَتَٰعَهُمۡ
mataaʻahum
their baggage
وَجَدُواْ
wajadoo
they found
بِضَٰعَتَهُمۡ
biḍaaʻatahum
their merchandise
رُدَّتۡ
ruddat
returned
إِلَيۡهِمۡۖ
ʹilayhim.
to them
قَالُواْ
Q̣aaloo
They said
يَٰٓأَبَانَا
yaaaʹabaanaa
O our father
مَا
maa-
What
نَبۡغِيۖ
nabg̣ee?
(could) we desire
هَٰذِهِۦ
Haaẓihee
This
بِضَٰعَتُنَا
biḍaaʻatunaa
(is) our merchandise
رُدَّتۡ
ruddat
returned
إِلَيۡنَاۖ
ʹilaynaa:
to us
وَنَمِيرُ
wa-nameeru
And we will get provision
أَهۡلَنَا
ʹahlanaa
(for) our family
وَنَحۡفَظُ
wa-naḥfaz̤̣u
and we will protect
أَخَانَا
ʹakhaanaa
our brother
وَنَزۡدَادُ
wa-nazdaadu
and get an increase
كَيۡلَ
kayla
measure
بَعِيرٖۖ
baʻeer.
(of) a camel's (load)
ذَٰلِكَ
Ẓaalika
That
كَيۡلٞ
kayluñy
(is) a measurement
يَسِيرٞ
yaseer.
easy
٦٥
12:66
قَالَ
Q̣aala
He said
لَنۡ
lan
Never
أُرۡسِلَهُۥ
ʹursilahoo
will I send him
مَعَكُمۡ
maʻakum
with you
حَتَّىٰ
ḥattaa
until
تُؤۡتُونِ
tuʹtooni
you give to me
مَوۡثِقٗا
maws̤iq̣am
a promise
مِّنَ
minal
by
ٱللَّهِ
laahi
Allah
لَتَأۡتُنَّنِي
lataʹtunnanee
that surely you will bring him to me
بِهِۦٓ
biheee
that surely you will bring him to me
إِلَّآ
ʹillaaa
unless
أَن
ʹañy
that
يُحَاطَ
yuḥaaṭa
you are surrounded
بِكُمۡۖ
bikum.
you are surrounded
فَلَمَّآ
Falammaaa
And when
ءَاتَوۡهُ
ʹaatawhu
they had given him
مَوۡثِقَهُمۡ
maws̤iq̣ahum
their promise
قَالَ
q̣aalal
he said
ٱللَّهُ
laahu
Allah
عَلَىٰ
ʻalaa
over
مَا
maa-
what
نَقُولُ
naq̣oolu
we say
وَكِيلٞ
Wakeel!
(is) a Guardian
٦٦
12:67
وَقَالَ
Wa-q̣aala
And he said
يَٰبَنِيَّ
yaa-baniyya
O my sons
لَا
laa-
(Do) not
تَدۡخُلُواْ
tadkhuloo
enter
مِنۢ
mim
from
بَابٖ
baabiñw
one gate
وَٰحِدٖ
waa-ḥidiñw
one gate
وَٱدۡخُلُواْ
wadkhuloo
but enter
مِنۡ
min
from
أَبۡوَٰبٖ
ʹabwaabim
gates
مُّتَفَرِّقَةٖۖ
mutafarriq̣ah.
different
وَمَآ
Wa-maaa
And not
أُغۡنِي
ʹug̣nee
I can avail
عَنكُم
ʻañkum
you
مِّنَ
minal
against
ٱللَّهِ
laahi
Allah
مِن
miñ
any
شَيۡءٍۖ
shayʹ:
thing
إِنِ
ʹinil
Not
ٱلۡحُكۡمُ
ḥukmu
(is) the decision
إِلَّا
ʹillaa
except
لِلَّهِۖ
lillaah:
with Allah
عَلَيۡهِ
ʻalayhi
upon Him
تَوَكَّلۡتُۖ
tawakkalt:
I put my trust
وَعَلَيۡهِ
wa-ʻalayhi
and upon Him
فَلۡيَتَوَكَّلِ
fal-yatawakkalil
let put (their) trust
ٱلۡمُتَوَكِّلُونَ
Mutawakkiloon.
the ones who put trust
٦٧
12:68
وَلَمَّا
Wa-lammaa
And when
دَخَلُواْ
dakhaloo
they entered
مِنۡ
min
from
حَيۡثُ
ḥays̤u
where
أَمَرَهُمۡ
ʹamarahum
ordered them
أَبُوهُم
ʹaboohum;
their father
مَّا
maa-
not
كَانَ
kaana
it
يُغۡنِي
yug̣nee
avail(ed)
عَنۡهُم
ʻanhum
them
مِّنَ
minal
against
ٱللَّهِ
laahi
Allah
مِن
miñ
any
شَيۡءٍ
shayʹin
thing
إِلَّا
ʹillaa
but
حَاجَةٗ
ḥaajatañ
(it was) a need
فِي
fee
of
نَفۡسِ
nafsi
Yaqub's soul
يَعۡقُوبَ
Yaʻq̣ooba
Yaqub's soul
قَضَىٰهَاۚ
q̣aḍaahaa.
which he carried out
وَإِنَّهُۥ
Wa-ʹinnahoo
And indeed he
لَذُو
laẓoo
(was) a possessor
عِلۡمٖ
ʻilmil
(of) knowledge
لِّمَا
limaa
because
عَلَّمۡنَٰهُ
ʻallamnaahu
We had taught him
وَلَٰكِنَّ
wa-laakinna
but
أَكۡثَرَ
ʹaks̤aran
most
ٱلنَّاسِ
naasi
(of) the people
لَا
laa-
(do) not
يَعۡلَمُونَ
yaʻlamoon.
know
٦٨
12:69
وَلَمَّا
Wa-lammaa
And when
دَخَلُواْ
dakhaloo
they entered
عَلَىٰ
ʻalaa
upon
يُوسُفَ
Yoosufa
Yusuf
ءَاوَىٰٓ
ʹaawaaa
he took
إِلَيۡهِ
ʹilayhi
to himself
أَخَاهُۖ
ʹakhaahu
his brother
قَالَ
q̣aala
He said
إِنِّيٓ
ʹinneee
Indeed I
أَنَا۠
ʹana
[I] am
أَخُوكَ
ʹakhooka
your brother
فَلَا
falaa
so (do) not
تَبۡتَئِسۡ
tabtaʹis
grieve
بِمَا
bimaa
for what
كَانُواْ
kaanoo
they used (to)
يَعۡمَلُونَ
yaʻmaloon.

فَلَمَّا
Falammaa
So when
جَهَّزَهُم
jahhazahum̃
he had furnished them
بِجَهَازِهِمۡ
bijahaazihim
with their supplies
جَعَلَ
jaʻalas
he put
ٱلسِّقَايَةَ
siq̣aayata
the drinking cup
فِي
fee
in
رَحۡلِ
raḥli
the bag
أَخِيهِ
ʹakheehi
(of) his brother
ثُمَّ
s̤umma
Then
أَذَّنَ
ʹaẓẓana
called out
مُؤَذِّنٌ
Muʹaẓẓinun
an announcer
أَيَّتُهَا
ʹayyatuhal
O you
ٱلۡعِيرُ
ʻeeru
(in) the caravan
إِنَّكُمۡ
ʹinnakum
Indeed you
لَسَٰرِقُونَ
lasaariq̣oon!
surely (are) thieves
٧٠
12:71
قَالُواْ
Q̣aaloo
They said
وَأَقۡبَلُواْ
wa-ʹaq̣baloo
turning towards
عَلَيۡهِم
ʻalayhim
them
مَّاذَا
maaẓaa
What (is it)
تَفۡقِدُونَ
tafq̣idoon?
you miss
٧١
12:72
قَالُواْ
Q̣aaloo
They said
نَفۡقِدُ
nafq̣idu
We are missing
صُوَاعَ
ṣuwaaʻal
(the) cup
ٱلۡمَلِكِ
maliki
(of) the king
وَلِمَن
wa-limañ
And for (one) who
جَآءَ
jaaaʹa
brings
بِهِۦ
bihee
it
حِمۡلُ
ḥimlu
(is) a load
بَعِيرٖ
baʻeeriñw
(of) a camel
وَأَنَا۠
waʹana
and I
بِهِۦ
bihee
for it
زَعِيمٞ
zaʻeem.
(is) responsible
٧٢
12:73
قَالُواْ
Q̣aaloo
They said
تَٱللَّهِ
tallaahi
By Allah
لَقَدۡ
laq̣ad
certainly
عَلِمۡتُم
ʻalimtum
you know
مَّا
maa
not
جِئۡنَا
jiʹnaa
we came
لِنُفۡسِدَ
linufsida
that we cause corruption
فِي
fil
in
ٱلۡأَرۡضِ
ʹarḍi
the land
وَمَا
wa-maa
and not
كُنَّا
kunnaa
we are
سَٰرِقِينَ
saariq̣een.
thieves
٧٣
12:74
قَالُواْ
Q̣aaloo
They said
فَمَا
famaa
Then what
جَزَٰٓؤُهُۥٓ
jazaaaʹuhooo
(will be the) recompense (of) it
إِن
ʹiñ
if
كُنتُمۡ
kuñtum
you are
كَٰذِبِينَ
kaaẓibeen?
liars
٧٤
12:75
قَالُواْ
Q̣aaloo
They said
جَزَٰٓؤُهُۥ
jazaaaʹuhoo
Its recompense
مَن
mañw
(is that one) who
وُجِدَ
wujida
it is found
فِي
fee
in
رَحۡلِهِۦ
raḥlihee
his bag
فَهُوَ
fahuwa
then he
جَزَٰٓؤُهُۥۚ
jazaaaʹuh.
(will be) his recompense
كَذَٰلِكَ
Kaẓaalika
Thus
نَجۡزِي
najziz̤̣
(do) we recompense
ٱلظَّٰلِمِينَ
z̤̣aalimeen!
the wrongdoers
٧٥
