And testified
شَاهِدٞ

a witness
مِّنۡ

أَهۡلِهَآ

her family
إِن

كَانَ

قَمِيصُهُۥ
q̣ameeṣuhoo
his shirt
قُدَّ
q̣udda
(is) torn
مِن
miñ
from
قُبُلٖ
q̣ubuliñ
the front
فَصَدَقَتۡ
faṣadaq̣at
then she has spoken the truth
وَهُوَ
wa-huwa
and he
مِنَ
minal
(is) of
ٱلۡكَٰذِبِينَ
kaaẓibeen!
the liars
٢٦
12:27
وَإِن
Wa-ʹiñ
But if
كَانَ
kaana
[is]
قَمِيصُهُۥ
q̣ameeṣuhoo
his shirt
قُدَّ
q̣udda
(is) torn
مِن
miñ
from
دُبُرٖ
duburiñ
(the) back
فَكَذَبَتۡ
fakaẓabat
then she has lied
وَهُوَ
wa-huwa
and he
مِنَ
minaṣ
(is) of
ٱلصَّٰدِقِينَ
ṣaadiq̣een!
the truthful
٢٧
12:28
فَلَمَّا
Falammaa
So when
رَءَا
raʹaa
he saw
قَمِيصَهُۥ
q̣ameeṣahoo
his shirt
قُدَّ
q̣udda
torn
مِن
miñ
from
دُبُرٖ
duburiñ
(the) back
قَالَ
q̣aala
he said
إِنَّهُۥ
ʹinnahoo
Indeed it
مِن
miñ
(is) of
كَيۡدِكُنَّۖ
kaydikunna!
your plot
إِنَّ
ʹInna
Indeed
كَيۡدَكُنَّ
kaydakunna
your plot
عَظِيمٞ
ʻaz̤̣eem!
(is) great
٢٨
12:29
يُوسُفُ
Yoosufu
Yusuf
أَعۡرِضۡ
ʹaʻriḍ
turn away
عَنۡ
ʻan
from
هَٰذَاۚ
haaẓaa
this
وَٱسۡتَغۡفِرِي
wastag̣firee
And ask forgiveness
لِذَنۢبِكِۖ
liẓambiki
for your sin
إِنَّكِ
ʹinnaki
Indeed you
كُنتِ
kuñti
are
مِنَ
minal
of
ٱلۡخَاطِـِٔينَ
khaaṭiʹeen!
the sinful
٢٩
12:30
۞وَقَالَ
Wa-q̣aala
And said
نِسۡوَةٞ
niswatuñ
women
فِي
fil
in
ٱلۡمَدِينَةِ
Madeenatim
the city
ٱمۡرَأَتُ
raʹatul
The wife of
ٱلۡعَزِيزِ
ʻAzeezi
Aziz
تُرَٰوِدُ
turaawidu
(is) seeking to seduce
فَتَىٰهَا
fataahaa
her slave boy
عَن
ʻan
about
نَّفۡسِهِۦۖ
nafsih:
himself
قَدۡ
q̣ad
indeed
شَغَفَهَا
shag̣afahaa
he has impassioned her
حُبًّاۖ
ḥubbaa:
(with) love
إِنَّا
ʹinnaa
Indeed we
لَنَرَىٰهَا
lanaraahaa
[we] surely see her
فِي
fee
in
ضَلَٰلٖ
ḍalaalim
an error
مُّبِينٖ
mubeen.

فَلَمَّا
Falammaa
So when
سَمِعَتۡ
samiʻat
she heard
بِمَكۡرِهِنَّ
bimakrihinna
of their scheming
أَرۡسَلَتۡ
ʹarsalat
she sent
إِلَيۡهِنَّ
ʹilayhinna
for them
وَأَعۡتَدَتۡ
wa-ʹaʻtadat
and she prepared
لَهُنَّ
lahunna
for them
مُتَّكَـٔٗا
muttakaʹañw
a banquet
وَءَاتَتۡ
waʹaatat
and she gave
كُلَّ
kulla
each
وَٰحِدَةٖ
waaḥidatim
one
مِّنۡهُنَّ
min-hunna
of them
سِكِّينٗا
sikkeenañw
a knife
وَقَالَتِ
waq̣aalatikh
and she said
ٱخۡرُجۡ
ruj
Come out
عَلَيۡهِنَّۖ
ʻalayhinn.
before them
فَلَمَّا
Falammaa
Then when
رَأَيۡنَهُۥٓ
raʹaynahooo
they saw him
أَكۡبَرۡنَهُۥ
ʹakbarnahoo
they greatly admired him
وَقَطَّعۡنَ
wa-q̣aṭṭaʻna
and cut
أَيۡدِيَهُنَّ
ʹaydiyahunna
their hands
وَقُلۡنَ
wa-q̣ulna
they said
حَٰشَ
ḥaasha
Forbid
لِلَّهِ
lillaahi
Allah
مَا
maa-
not
هَٰذَا
haaẓaa
(is) this
بَشَرًا
basharaa!
a man
إِنۡ
ʹIn
not
هَٰذَآ
haaẓaaa
(is) this
إِلَّا
ʹillaa
but
مَلَكٞ
malakuñ
an angel
كَرِيمٞ
kareem!
noble
٣١
12:32
قَالَتۡ
Q̣aalat
She said
فَذَٰلِكُنَّ
faẓaalikunnal
That
ٱلَّذِي
laẓee
(is) the one
لُمۡتُنَّنِي
lumtunnanee
you blamed me
فِيهِۖ
feeh!
about him
وَلَقَدۡ
Wa-laq̣ad
And certainly
رَٰوَدتُّهُۥ
raawattuhoo
I sought to seduce him
عَن
ʻan
[from]
نَّفۡسِهِۦ
nafsihee
[himself]
فَٱسۡتَعۡصَمَۖ
fastaʻṣam!
but he saved himself
وَلَئِن
Wa-laʹil
and if
لَّمۡ
lam
not
يَفۡعَلۡ
yafʻal
he does
مَآ
maaa
what
ءَامُرُهُۥ
ʹaamuruhoo
I order him
لَيُسۡجَنَنَّ
layusjananna
surely he will be imprisoned
وَلَيَكُونٗا
wa-layakoonam
and certainly will be
مِّنَ
minaṣ
of
ٱلصَّٰغِرِينَ
ṣaag̣ireen!
those who are disgraced
٣٢
12:33
قَالَ
Q̣aala
He said
رَبِّ
Rabbis
My Lord
ٱلسِّجۡنُ
sijnu
the prison
أَحَبُّ
ʹaḥabbu
(is) dearer
إِلَيَّ
ʹilayya
to me
مِمَّا
mimmaa
than what
يَدۡعُونَنِيٓ
yadʻoonaneee
they invite me
إِلَيۡهِۖ
ʹilayh:
to it
وَإِلَّا
wa-ʹillaa
And unless
تَصۡرِفۡ
taṣrif
You turn away
عَنِّي
ʻannee
from me
كَيۡدَهُنَّ
kaydahunna
their plot
أَصۡبُ
ʹaṣbu
I might incline
إِلَيۡهِنَّ
ʹilayhinna
towards them
وَأَكُن
wa-ʹakum
and [I] be
مِّنَ
minal
of
ٱلۡجَٰهِلِينَ
jaahileen.
the ignorant
٣٣
12:34
فَٱسۡتَجَابَ
Fastajaaba
So responded
لَهُۥ
lahoo
to him
رَبُّهُۥ
Rabbuhoo
his Lord
فَصَرَفَ
faṣarafa
and turned away
عَنۡهُ
ʻanhu
from him
كَيۡدَهُنَّۚ
kaydahunn:
their plot
إِنَّهُۥ
ʹinnahoo
Indeed [He]
هُوَ
Huwas
He
ٱلسَّمِيعُ
Sameeʻul
(is) All-Hearer
ٱلۡعَلِيمُ
ʻAleem.
All-Knower
٣٤
12:35
ثُمَّ
S̤umma
Then
بَدَا
badaa
(it) appeared
لَهُم
lahum
to them
مِّنۢ
mim
after
بَعۡدِ
baʻdi
after
مَا
maa-
[what]
رَأَوُاْ
raʹawul
they had seen
ٱلۡأٓيَٰتِ
ʹAayaati
the signs
لَيَسۡجُنُنَّهُۥ
layasjununnahoo
surely they should imprison him
حَتَّىٰ
ḥattaa
until
حِينٖ
ḥeen.
a time
٣٥
12:36
وَدَخَلَ
Wa-dakhala
And entered
مَعَهُ
maʻa
with him
ٱلسِّجۡنَ
hussijna
(in) the prison
فَتَيَانِۖ
fatayaan.
two young men
قَالَ
Q̣aala
Said
أَحَدُهُمَآ
ʹaḥaduhumaaa
one of them
إِنِّيٓ
ʹinneee
Indeed I
أَرَىٰنِيٓ
ʹaraaneee
[I] see myself
أَعۡصِرُ
ʹaʻṣiru
pressing
خَمۡرٗاۖ
khamraa.
wine
وَقَالَ
Wa-q̣aalal
And said
ٱلۡأٓخَرُ
ʹaakharu
the other
إِنِّيٓ
ʹinneee
Indeed I
أَرَىٰنِيٓ
ʹaraaneee
[I] see myself
أَحۡمِلُ
ʹaḥmilu
[I am] carrying
فَوۡقَ
fawq̣a
over
رَأۡسِي
raʹsee
my head
خُبۡزٗا
khubzañ
bread
تَأۡكُلُ
taʹkuluṭ
(were) eating
ٱلطَّيۡرُ
ṭayru
the birds
مِنۡهُۖ
minh.
from it
نَبِّئۡنَا
Nabbiʹnaa
Inform us
بِتَأۡوِيلِهِۦٓۖ
bitaʹweelih:
of its interpretation
إِنَّا
ʹinnaa
indeed we
نَرَىٰكَ
naraaka
[we] see you
مِنَ
minal
of
ٱلۡمُحۡسِنِينَ
Muḥsineen.
the good-doers
٣٦
12:37
قَالَ
Q̣aala
He said
لَا
laa-
Not
يَأۡتِيكُمَا
yaʹteekumaa
(will) come to both of you
طَعَامٞ
ṭaʻaamuñ
food
تُرۡزَقَانِهِۦٓ
turzaq̣aaniheee
you are provided with
إِلَّا
ʹillaa
but
نَبَّأۡتُكُمَا
nabbaʹtukumaa
I will inform both of you
بِتَأۡوِيلِهِۦ
bitaʹweelihee
of its interpretation
قَبۡلَ
q̣abla
before
أَن
ʹañy
[that]
يَأۡتِيَكُمَاۚ
yaʹtiyakumaa:
[it] comes to both of you
ذَٰلِكُمَا
ẓaalikumaa
That
مِمَّا
mimmaa
(is) of what
عَلَّمَنِي
ʻallamanee
has taught me
رَبِّيٓۚ
Rabbee.
my Lord
إِنِّي
ʹInnee
Indeed I
تَرَكۡتُ
taraktu
[I] abandon
مِلَّةَ
millata
(the) religion
قَوۡمٖ
q̣awmil
(of) a people
لَّا
laa
not
يُؤۡمِنُونَ
yuʹminoona
they believe
بِٱللَّهِ
billaahi
in Allah
وَهُم
wa-hum̃
and they
بِٱلۡأٓخِرَةِ
bil-ʹAakhirati
in the Hereafter
هُمۡ
hum
[they]
كَٰفِرُونَ
kaafiroon.
(are) disbelievers
٣٧

12:38
وَٱتَّبَعۡتُ
Wattabaʻtu
And I follow
مِلَّةَ
Millata
(the) religion
ءَابَآءِيٓ
ʹaabaaaʹeee
(of) my forefathers
إِبۡرَٰهِيمَ
ʹIbraaheema
Ibrahim
وَإِسۡحَٰقَ
wa-ʹIsḥaaq̣a
and Isaac
وَيَعۡقُوبَۚ
wa-Yaʻq̣oob;
and Yaqub
مَا
maa-
Not
كَانَ
kaana
was
لَنَآ
lanaaa
for us
أَن
ʹan
that
نُّشۡرِكَ
nushrika
we associate
بِٱللَّهِ
billaahi
with Allah
مِن
miñ
any
شَيۡءٖۚ
shayʹ:
thing
ذَٰلِكَ
ẓaalika
That
مِن
miñ
(is) from
فَضۡلِ
faḍlil
(the) Grace
ٱللَّهِ
laahi
(of) Allah
عَلَيۡنَا
ʻalaynaa
upon us
وَعَلَى
wa-ʻalan
and upon
ٱلنَّاسِ
naasi
the mankind
وَلَٰكِنَّ
wa-laakinna
but
أَكۡثَرَ
ʹaks̤aran
most
ٱلنَّاسِ
naasi
(of) the men
لَا
laa-
(are) not
يَشۡكُرُونَ
yashkuroon.
grateful
٣٨
12:39
يَٰصَٰحِبَيِ
Yaa-ṣaaḥibayis
O my two companions
ٱلسِّجۡنِ
sijni
(of) the prison
ءَأَرۡبَابٞ
ʹaʹarbaabum
Are lords
مُّتَفَرِّقُونَ
mutafarriq̣oona
separate
خَيۡرٌ
khayrun
better
أَمِ
ʹamil
or
ٱللَّهُ
laahul
Allah
ٱلۡوَٰحِدُ
Waaḥidul
the One
ٱلۡقَهَّارُ
Q̣ahhaar?
the Irresistible
٣٩
12:40
مَا
Maa-
Not
تَعۡبُدُونَ
taʻbudoona
you worship
مِن
miñ
besides Him
دُونِهِۦٓ
dooniheee
besides Him
إِلَّآ
ʹillaaa
but
أَسۡمَآءٗ
ʹasmaaaʹañ
names
سَمَّيۡتُمُوهَآ
sammaytumoohaaa
which you have named them
أَنتُمۡ
ʹañtum
you
وَءَابَآؤُكُم
wa-ʹaabaaaʹukum
and your forefathers
مَّآ
maaa
not
أَنزَلَ
ʹañzalal
(has) sent down
ٱللَّهُ
laahu
Allah
بِهَا
bihaa
for it
مِن
miñ
any
سُلۡطَٰنٍۚ
sulṭaan:
authority
إِنِ
ʹinil
Not
ٱلۡحُكۡمُ
Ḥukmu
(is) the command
إِلَّا
ʹillaa
but
لِلَّهِ
lillaah:
for Allah
أَمَرَ
ʹamara
He has commanded
أَلَّا
ʹallaa
that not
تَعۡبُدُوٓاْ
taʻbudooo
you worship
إِلَّآ
ʹillaaa
but
إِيَّاهُۚ
ʹiyyaah:
Him Alone
ذَٰلِكَ
ẓaalikad
That
ٱلدِّينُ
Deenul
(is) the religion
ٱلۡقَيِّمُ
Q̣ayyimu
the right
وَلَٰكِنَّ
wa-laakinna
but
أَكۡثَرَ
ʹaks̤aran
most
ٱلنَّاسِ
naasi
[the] men
لَا
laa-
(do) not
يَعۡلَمُونَ
yaʻlamoon.
know
٤٠
12:41
يَٰصَٰحِبَيِ
Yaa-ṣaaḥibayis
O my two companions
ٱلسِّجۡنِ
sijni
(of) the prison
أَمَّآ
ʹammaaa
As for
أَحَدُكُمَا
ʹaḥadukumaa
one of you
فَيَسۡقِي
fayasq̣ee
he will give drink
رَبَّهُۥ
rabbahoo
(to) his master
خَمۡرٗاۖ
khamraa:
wine
وَأَمَّا
wa-ʹammal
and as for
ٱلۡأٓخَرُ
ʹaakharu
the other
فَيُصۡلَبُ
fayuṣlabu
he will be crucified
فَتَأۡكُلُ
fataʹkuluṭ
and will eat
ٱلطَّيۡرُ
ṭayru
the birds
مِن
mir
from
رَّأۡسِهِۦۚ
raʹsih.
his head
قُضِيَ
Q̣uḍiyal
Has been decreed
ٱلۡأَمۡرُ
ʹamrul
the matter
ٱلَّذِي
laẓee
about which
فِيهِ
feehi
about which
تَسۡتَفۡتِيَانِ
tastaftiyaan.
you both inquire
٤١
12:42
وَقَالَ
Wa-q̣aala
And he said
لِلَّذِي
lillaẓee
to the one whom
ظَنَّ
z̤̣anna
he thought
أَنَّهُۥ
ʹannahoo
that he
نَاجٖ
naajim
(would be) saved
مِّنۡهُمَا
minhumaẓ
of both of them
ٱذۡكُرۡنِي
kurnee
Mention me
عِندَ
ʻiñda
to
رَبِّكَ
rabbik.
your master
فَأَنسَىٰهُ
Faʹañsaahush
But made him forget
ٱلشَّيۡطَٰنُ
Shayṭaanu
the Shaitaan
ذِكۡرَ
ẓikra
(the) mention
رَبِّهِۦ
rabbihee
(to) his master
فَلَبِثَ
falabis̤a
so he remained
فِي
fis
in
ٱلسِّجۡنِ
sijni
the prison
بِضۡعَ
biḍʻa
several
سِنِينَ
sineen.
years
٤٢
12:43
وَقَالَ
Wa-q̣aalal
And said
ٱلۡمَلِكُ
maliku
the king
إِنِّيٓ
ʹinneee
Indeed I
أَرَىٰ
ʹaraa
[I] have seen
سَبۡعَ
sabʻa
seven
بَقَرَٰتٖ
baq̣araatiñ
cows
سِمَانٖ
simaaniñy
fat
يَأۡكُلُهُنَّ
yaʹkuluhunna
eating them
سَبۡعٌ
sabʻun
seven
عِجَافٞ
ʻijaafuñw
lean ones
وَسَبۡعَ
Wasabʻa
and seven
سُنۢبُلَٰتٍ
sumbulaatin
ears (of corn)
خُضۡرٖ
khuḍriñw
green
وَأُخَرَ
waʹukhara
and others
يَابِسَٰتٖۖ
yaabisaat.
dry
يَٰٓأَيُّهَا
Yaaaʹayyuhal
O
ٱلۡمَلَأُ
malaʹu
chiefs
أَفۡتُونِي
ʹaftoonee
Explain to me
فِي
fee
about
رُءۡيَٰيَ
ruʹyaaya
my vision
إِن
ʹiñ
if
كُنتُمۡ
kuñtum
you can
لِلرُّءۡيَا
lirruʹyaa
of visions
تَعۡبُرُونَ
taʻburoon.

قَالُوٓاْ
Q̣aalooo
They said
أَضۡغَٰثُ
ʹaḍg̣aas̤u
Confused
أَحۡلَٰمٖۖ
ʹaḥlaam:
dreams
وَمَا
Wa-maa
and not
نَحۡنُ
naḥnu
we
بِتَأۡوِيلِ
bitaʹweelil
(are) in the interpretation
ٱلۡأَحۡلَٰمِ
ʹaḥlaami
(of) the dreams
بِعَٰلِمِينَ
biʻaalimeen.
learned
٤٤
12:45
وَقَالَ
Wa-q̣aalal
But said
ٱلَّذِي
laẓee
the one who
نَجَا
najaa
was saved
مِنۡهُمَا
minhumaa
of the two
وَٱدَّكَرَ
waddakara
and remembered
بَعۡدَ
baʻda
after
أُمَّةٍ
ʹummatin
a period
أَنَا۠
ʹana
I
أُنَبِّئُكُم
ʹunabbiʹukum̃
[I] will inform you
بِتَأۡوِيلِهِۦ
bitaʹweelihee
of its interpretation
فَأَرۡسِلُونِ
faʹarsiloon.
so send me forth
٤٥
12:46
يُوسُفُ
Yoosufu
Yusuf
أَيُّهَا
ʹayyuhaṣ
O
ٱلصِّدِّيقُ
Ṣiddeeq̣u
the truthful one
أَفۡتِنَا
ʹaftinaa
Explain to us
فِي
fee
about
سَبۡعِ
sabʻi
(the) seven
بَقَرَٰتٖ
baq̣araatiñ
cows
سِمَانٖ
simaaniñy
fat
يَأۡكُلُهُنَّ
yaʹkuluhunna
eating them
سَبۡعٌ
sabʻun
seven
عِجَافٞ
ʻijaafuñw
lean ones
وَسَبۡعِ
Wasabʻi
and seven
سُنۢبُلَٰتٍ
sumbulaatin
ears (of corn)
خُضۡرٖ
khuḍriñw
green
وَأُخَرَ
waʹukhara
and other
يَابِسَٰتٖ
yaabisaatil
dry
لَّعَلِّيٓ
laʻalleee
that I may
أَرۡجِعُ
ʹarjiʻu
return
إِلَى
ʹilan
to
ٱلنَّاسِ
naasi
the people
لَعَلَّهُمۡ
laʻallahum
so that they may
يَعۡلَمُونَ
yaʻlamoon.
know
٤٦
12:47
قَالَ
Q̣aala
He said
تَزۡرَعُونَ
tazraʻoona
You will sow
سَبۡعَ
sabʻa
(for) seven
سِنِينَ
sineena
years
دَأَبٗا
daʹabaa:
as usual
فَمَا
famaa
and that which
حَصَدتُّمۡ
ḥaṣattum
you reap
فَذَرُوهُ
faẓaroohu
so leave it
فِي
fee
in
سُنۢبُلِهِۦٓ
sumbuliheee
its ears
إِلَّا
ʹillaa
except
قَلِيلٗا
q̣aleelam
a little
مِّمَّا
mimmaa
from which
تَأۡكُلُونَ
taʹkuloon.
you (will) eat
٤٧
12:48
ثُمَّ
S̤umma
Then
يَأۡتِي
yaʹtee
will come
مِنۢ
mim
after
بَعۡدِ
baʻdi
after
ذَٰلِكَ
ẓaalika
that
سَبۡعٞ
sabʻuñ
seven
شِدَادٞ
shidaaduñy
hard (years)
يَأۡكُلۡنَ
yaʹkulna
(which will) consume
مَا
maa-
what
قَدَّمۡتُمۡ
q̣addamtum
you advanced
لَهُنَّ
lahunna
for them
إِلَّا
ʹillaa
except
قَلِيلٗا
q̣aleelam
a little
مِّمَّا
mimmaa
of what
تُحۡصِنُونَ
tuḥṣinoon.
you (will) store
٤٨
12:49
ثُمَّ
S̤umma
Then
يَأۡتِي
yaʹtee
will come
مِنۢ
mim
after
بَعۡدِ
baʻdi
after
ذَٰلِكَ
ẓaalika
that
عَامٞ
ʻaamuñ
a year
فِيهِ
feehi
in it
يُغَاثُ
yug̣aas̤un
will be given abundant rain
ٱلنَّاسُ
naasu
the people
وَفِيهِ
wa-feehi
and in it
يَعۡصِرُونَ
yaʻṣiroon.
they will press
٤٩
12:50
وَقَالَ
Wa-q̣aalal
And said
ٱلۡمَلِكُ
malikuʹ
the king
ٱئۡتُونِي
toonee
Bring him to me
بِهِۦۖ
bih.
Bring him to me
فَلَمَّا
Falammaa
But when
جَآءَهُ
jaaaʹahur
came to him
ٱلرَّسُولُ
rasoolu
the messenger
قَالَ
q̣aalar
he said
ٱرۡجِعۡ
jiʻ
Return
إِلَىٰ
ʹilaa
to
رَبِّكَ
rabbika
your lord
فَسۡـَٔلۡهُ
fasʹalhu
and ask him
مَا
maa-
what
بَالُ
baalun
(is the) case
ٱلنِّسۡوَةِ
niswatil
(of) the women
ٱلَّٰتِي
laatee
who
قَطَّعۡنَ
q̣aṭṭaʻna
cut
أَيۡدِيَهُنَّۚ
ʹaydiyahunn?
their hands
إِنَّ
ʹInna
Indeed
رَبِّي
Rabbee
my Lord
بِكَيۡدِهِنَّ
bikaydihinna
of their plot
عَلِيمٞ
ʻAleem.
(is) All-Knower
٥٠
