فَلَيۡسَ
falaysa
So not
لَهُ
lahu
for him
ٱلۡيَوۡمَ
al-yawma
today
هَٰهُنَا
hahuna
here
حَمِيمٞ
hamimun
any devoted friend
٣٥
so today he has no real friend here

69:36
وَلَا
wala
And not
طَعَامٌ
ta'amun
any food
إِلَّا
illa
except
مِنۡ
min
from
غِسۡلِينٖ
ghis'linin
(the) discharge of wounds
٣٦
and the only food he has is the filth

لَّا
la
Not
يَأۡكُلُهُۥٓ
yakuluhu
will eat it
إِلَّا
illa
except
ٱلۡخَٰطِـُٔونَ
al-khatiuna
the sinners
٣٧
that only sinners eat.’

فَلَآ
fala
But nay
أُقۡسِمُ
uq'simu
I swear
بِمَا
bima
by what
تُبۡصِرُونَ
tub'siruna
you see
٣٨
So I swear by what you can see

وَمَا
wama
And what
لَا
la
not
تُبۡصِرُونَ
tub'siruna
you see
٣٩
and by what you cannot see

69:40
إِنَّهُۥ
innahu
Indeed it (is)
لَقَوۡلُ
laqawlu
surely (the) Word
رَسُولٖ
rasulin
(of) a Messenger
كَرِيمٖ
karimin
noble
٤٠
this [Quran] is the speech of an honoured messenger

وَمَا
wama
And not
هُوَ
huwa
it
بِقَوۡلِ
biqawli
(is the) word
شَاعِرٖۚ
sha'irin
(of) a poet
قَلِيلٗا
qalilan
little
مَّا
ma
(is) what
تُؤۡمِنُونَ
tu'minuna
you believe

not the words of a poet- how little you believe

69:42
وَلَا
wala
And not
بِقَوۡلِ
biqawli
(it is the) word
كَاهِنٖۚ
kahinin
(of) a soothsayer
قَلِيلٗا
qalilan
little
مَّا
ma
(is) what
تَذَكَّرُونَ
tadhakkaruna
you take heed
٤٢
nor the words of a soothsayer- how little you reflect

69:43
تَنزِيلٞ
tanzilun
(It is) a revelation
مِّن
min
from
رَّبِّ
rabbi
(the) Lord
ٱلۡعَٰلَمِينَ
al-'alamina
(of) the worlds
٤٣
This [Quran] is a message sent down from the Lord of the Worlds

69:44
وَلَوۡ
walaw
And if
تَقَوَّلَ
taqawwala
he (had) fabricated
عَلَيۡنَا
alayna
against Us
بَعۡضَ
ba'da
some
ٱلۡأَقَاوِيلِ
al-aqawili
sayings
٤٤
if [the Prophet] had attributed some fabrication to Us

69:45
لَأَخَذۡنَا
la-akhadhna
Certainly We (would) have seized
مِنۡهُ
min'hu
him
بِٱلۡيَمِينِ
bil-yamini
by the right hand
٤٥
We would certainly have seized his right hand

69:46
ثُمَّ
thumma
Then
لَقَطَعۡنَا
laqata'na
certainly We (would) have cut off
مِنۡهُ
min'hu
from him
ٱلۡوَتِينَ
al-watina
the aorta
٤٦
and cut off his lifeblood

69:47
فَمَا
fama
And not
مِنكُم
minkum
from you
مِّنۡ
min
any
أَحَدٍ
ahadin
one
عَنۡهُ
anhu
[from him]
حَٰجِزِينَ
hajizina
(who could) prevent (it)
٤٧
and none of you could have defended him

69:48
وَإِنَّهُۥ
wa-innahu
And indeed it
لَتَذۡكِرَةٞ
latadhkiratun
(is) surely a reminder
لِّلۡمُتَّقِينَ
lil'muttaqina
for the Allah-fearing
٤٨
This [Quran] is a reminder for those who are aware of God

69:49
وَإِنَّا
wa-inna
And indeed We
لَنَعۡلَمُ
lana'lamu
surely know
أَنَّ
anna
that
مِنكُم
minkum
among you
مُّكَذِّبِينَ
mukadhibina
(are) deniers
٤٩
We know that some of you consider it to be lies

69:50
وَإِنَّهُۥ
wa-innahu
And indeed it
لَحَسۡرَةٌ
lahasratun
(is) surely a regret
عَلَى
ala
upon
ٱلۡكَٰفِرِينَ
al-kafirina
the disbelievers
٥٠
this will be a source of bitter regret for the disbelievers

69:51
وَإِنَّهُۥ
wa-innahu
And indeed it (is)
لَحَقُّ
lahaqqu
surely (the) truth
ٱلۡيَقِينِ
al-yaqini
(of) certainty
٥١
but it is in fact the certain Truth

فَسَبِّحۡ
fasabbih
So glorify
بِٱسۡمِ
bi-is'mi
(the) name
رَبِّكَ
rabbika
(of) your Lord
ٱلۡعَظِيمِ
al-'azimi
the Most Great
٥٢
So [Prophet] glorify the name of your Lord, the Almighty

سَأَلَ
sa-ala
Asked
سَآئِلُۢ
sailun
a questioner
بِعَذَابٖ
bi'adhabin
about a punishment
وَاقِعٖ
waqi'in
bound to happen
١
A man [mockingly] demanded the punishment

لِّلۡكَٰفِرِينَ
lil'kafirina
To the disbelievers
لَيۡسَ
laysa
not
لَهُۥ
lahu
of it
دَافِعٞ
dafi'un
any preventer
٢
It will fall on the disbelievers––none can deflect it––

مِّنَ
mina
From
ٱللَّهِ
al-lahi
Allah
ذِي
dhi
Owner
ٱلۡمَعَارِجِ
al-ma'ariji
(of) the ways of ascent
٣
from God, the Lord of the Ways of Ascent

70:4
تَعۡرُجُ
ta'ruju
Ascend
ٱلۡمَلَٰٓئِكَةُ
al-malaikatu
the Angels
وَٱلرُّوحُ
wal-ruhu
and the Spirit
إِلَيۡهِ
ilayhi
to Him
فِي
fi
in
يَوۡمٖ
yawmin
a Day
كَانَ
kana
[is]
مِقۡدَارُهُۥ
miq'daruhu
its measure
خَمۡسِينَ
khamsina
(is) fifty
أَلۡفَ
alfa
thousand
سَنَةٖ
sanatin
year(s)
٤
by which the angels and the Spirit ascend to Him, on a Day whose length is fifty thousand years

فَٱصۡبِرۡ
fa-is'bir
So be patient
صَبۡرٗا
sabran
a patience
جَمِيلًا
jamilan
good
٥
So be patient, [Prophet], as befits you

70:6
إِنَّهُمۡ
innahum
Indeed they
يَرَوۡنَهُۥ
yarawnahu
see it
بَعِيدٗا
ba'idan
(as) far off
٦
The disbelievers think it is distant

70:7
وَنَرَىٰهُ
wanarahu
But We see it
قَرِيبٗا
qariban
near
٧
but We know it to be close
Translation 1260
70:8
يَوۡمَ
yawma
(The) Day
تَكُونُ
takunu
will be
ٱلسَّمَآءُ
al-samau
the sky
كَٱلۡمُهۡلِ
kal-muh'li
like molten copper
٨
On a Day when the heavens will be like molten brass

70:9
وَتَكُونُ
watakunu
And will be
ٱلۡجِبَالُ
al-jibalu
the mountains
كَٱلۡعِهۡنِ
kal-'ih'ni
like wool
٩
and the mountains like tufts of wool

70:10
وَلَا
wala
And not
يَسۡـَٔلُ
yasalu
will ask
حَمِيمٌ
hamimun
a friend
حَمِيمٗا
hamiman
(about) a friend
١٠
when no friend will ask about his friend
