of them
أَن

that
يُؤۡتَىٰ
yu'ta
he may be given
صُحُفٗا
suhufan
pages
مُّنَشَّرَةٗ
munasharatan
spread out

Each one of them demands that a scripture be sent down to him and unrolled before his very eyes

كـَلَّاۖ
kalla
Nay
بَل
bal
But
لَّا
la
not
يَخَافُونَ
yakhafuna
they fear
ٱلۡأٓخِرَةَ
al-akhirata
the Hereafter
٥٣
No! Truly they have no fear of the life to come

كـَلَّآ

Nay
إِنَّهُۥ
innahu
Indeed it
تَذۡكِرَةٞ
tadhkiratun
(is) a Reminder
٥٤
but truly this is a reminder

فَمَن
faman
So whoever
شَآءَ
shaa
wills
ذَكَرَهُۥ
dhakarahu
(may) pay heed to it

Let whoever wishes to take heed do so

وَمَا
wama
And not
يَذۡكُرُونَ
yadhkuruna
will pay heed
إِلَّآ
illa
except
أَن
an
that
يَشَآءَ
yashaa
wills
ٱللَّهُۚ
al-lahu
Allah
هُوَ
huwa
He
أَهۡلُ
ahlu
(is) worthy
ٱلتَّقۡوَىٰ
al-taqwa
to be feared
وَأَهۡلُ
wa-ahlu
and worthy
ٱلۡمَغۡفِرَةِ
al-maghfirati
to forgive
٥٦
they will only take heed if God so wishes. He is the Lord who should be heeded, the Lord of forgiveness
