74:48
فَمَا
fama
Then not
تَنفَعُهُمۡ
tanfa'uhum
will benefit them
شَفَٰعَةُ
shafa'atu
intercession
ٱلشَّٰفِعِينَ
al-shafi'ina
(of) the intercessors
٤٨
No intercessor’s plea will benefit them now

74:49
فَمَا
fama
Then what
لَهُمۡ
lahum
(is) for them
عَنِ
ani
(that) from
ٱلتَّذۡكِرَةِ
al-tadhkirati
the Reminder
مُعۡرِضِينَ
mu'ridina
they (are) turning away
٤٩
What is the matter with them? Why do they turn away from the warning

كَأَنَّهُمۡ
ka-annahum
As if they (were)
حُمُرٞ
humurun
donkeys
مُّسۡتَنفِرَةٞ
mus'tanfiratun
frightened
٥٠
like frightened asses

74:51
فَرَّتۡ
farrat
Fleeing
مِن
min
from
قَسۡوَرَةِۭ
qaswaratin
a lion
٥١
fleeing from a lion

74:52
بَلۡ
bal
Nay
يُرِيدُ
yuridu
Desires
كُلُّ
kullu
every
ٱمۡرِيٕٖ
im'ri-in
person
مِّنۡهُمۡ
min'hum
of them
أَن
an
that
يُؤۡتَىٰ
yu'ta
he may be given
صُحُفٗا
suhufan
pages
مُّنَشَّرَةٗ
munasharatan
spread out
٥٢
Each one of them demands that a scripture be sent down to him and unrolled before his very eyes

74:53
كـَلَّاۖ
kalla
Nay
بَل
bal
But
لَّا
la
not
يَخَافُونَ
yakhafuna
they fear
ٱلۡأٓخِرَةَ
al-akhirata
the Hereafter
٥٣
No! Truly they have no fear of the life to come

74:54
كـَلَّآ
kalla
Nay
إِنَّهُۥ
innahu
Indeed it
تَذۡكِرَةٞ
tadhkiratun
(is) a Reminder
٥٤
but truly this is a reminder

74:55
فَمَن
faman
So whoever
شَآءَ
shaa
wills
ذَكَرَهُۥ
dhakarahu
(may) pay heed to it
٥٥
Let whoever wishes to take heed do so

74:56
وَمَا
wama
And not
يَذۡكُرُونَ
yadhkuruna
will pay heed
إِلَّآ
illa
except
أَن
an
that
يَشَآءَ
yashaa
wills
ٱللَّهُۚ
al-lahu
Allah
هُوَ
huwa
He
أَهۡلُ
ahlu
(is) worthy
ٱلتَّقۡوَىٰ
al-taqwa
to be feared
وَأَهۡلُ
wa-ahlu
and worthy
ٱلۡمَغۡفِرَةِ
al-maghfirati
to forgive
٥٦
they will only take heed if God so wishes. He is the Lord who should be heeded, the Lord of forgiveness

لَآ

Nay
أُقۡسِمُ
uq'simu
I swear
بِيَوۡمِ
biyawmi
by (the) Day
ٱلۡقِيَٰمَةِ
al-qiyamati
(of) the Resurrection
١
By the Day of Resurrection

75:2
وَلَآ
wala
And nay
أُقۡسِمُ
uq'simu
I swear
بِٱلنَّفۡسِ
bil-nafsi
by the soul
ٱللَّوَّامَةِ
al-lawamati
self-accusing
٢
and by the self-reproaching soul

75:3
أَيَحۡسَبُ
ayahsabu
Does think
ٱلۡإِنسَٰنُ
al-insanu
[the] man
أَلَّن
allan
that not
نَّجۡمَعَ
najma'a
We will assemble
عِظَامَهُۥ
izamahu
his bones
٣
Does man think We shall not put his bones back together

75:4
بَلَىٰ
bala
Nay
قَٰدِرِينَ
qadirina
(We are) Able
عَلَىٰٓ
ala
on
أَن
an
that
نُّسَوِّيَ
nusawwiya
We can restore
بَنَانَهُۥ
bananahu
his fingertips
٤
In fact, We can reshape his very fingertips

75:5
بَلۡ
bal
Nay
يُرِيدُ
yuridu
Desires
ٱلۡإِنسَٰنُ
al-insanu
[the] man
لِيَفۡجُرَ
liyafjura
to give (the) lie
أَمَامَهُۥ
amamahu
(to) what is before him
٥
Yet man wants to deny what is ahead of him

75:6
يَسۡـَٔلُ
yasalu
He asks
أَيَّانَ
ayyana
When
يَوۡمُ
yawmu
(is the) Day
ٱلۡقِيَٰمَةِ
al-qiyamati
(of) the Resurrection
٦
he says, ‘So, when will this Day of Resurrection be?’

75:7
فَإِذَا
fa-idha
So when
بَرِقَ
bariqa
is dazzled
ٱلۡبَصَرُ
al-basaru
the vision
٧
When eyes are dazzled
Translation 1260
75:8
وَخَسَفَ
wakhasafa
And becomes dark
ٱلۡقَمَرُ
al-qamaru
the moon
٨
and the moon eclipsed
Translation 1260
75:9
وَجُمِعَ
wajumi'a
And are joined
ٱلشَّمۡسُ
al-shamsu
the sun
وَٱلۡقَمَرُ
wal-qamaru
and the moon
٩
when the sun and the moon are brought together
Translation 1260
75:10
يَقُولُ
yaqulu
Will say
ٱلۡإِنسَٰنُ
al-insanu
[the] man
يَوۡمَئِذٍ
yawma-idhin
that Day
أَيۡنَ
ayna
Where
ٱلۡمَفَرُّ
al-mafaru
(is) the escape
١٠
on that Day man will say, ‘Where can I escape?’

75:11
كـَلَّا
kalla
By no means
لَا
la
(There is) no
وَزَرَ
wazara
refuge
١١
Truly, there is no refuge

75:12
إِلَىٰ
ila
To
رَبِّكَ
rabbika
your Lord
يَوۡمَئِذٍ
yawma-idhin
that Day
ٱلۡمُسۡتَقَرُّ
al-mus'taqaru
(is) the place of rest
١٢
they will all return to your Lord on that Day

75:13
يُنَبَّؤُاْ
yunabba-u
Will be informed
ٱلۡإِنسَٰنُ
al-insanu
[the] man
يَوۡمَئِذِۭ
yawma-idhin
that Day
بِمَا
bima
of what
قَدَّمَ
qaddama
he sent forth
وَأَخَّرَ
wa-akhara
and kept back
١٣
On that Day, man will be told what he put first and what he put last

75:14
بَلِ
bali
Nay
ٱلۡإِنسَٰنُ
al-insanu
[The] man
عَلَىٰ
ala
against
نَفۡسِهِۦ
nafsihi
himself
بَصِيرَةٞ
basiratun
(will be) a witness
١٤
Truly, man is a clear witness against himself

75:15
وَلَوۡ
walaw
Even if
أَلۡقَىٰ
alqa
he presents
مَعَاذِيرَهُۥ
ma'adhirahu
his excuses
١٥
despite all the excuses he may put forward

75:16
لَا
la
Not
تُحَرِّكۡ
tuharrik
move
بِهِۦ
bihi
with it
لِسَانَكَ
lisanaka
your tongue
لِتَعۡجَلَ
lita'jala
to hasten
بِهِۦٓ
bihi
with it
١٦
[Prophet], do not rush your tongue in an attempt to hasten [your memorization of] the Revelation

إِنَّ
inna
Indeed
عَلَيۡنَا
alayna
upon Us
جَمۡعَهُۥ
jam'ahu
(is) its collection
وَقُرۡءَانَهُۥ
waqur'anahu
and its recitation
١٧
We shall make sure of its safe collection and recitation

75:18
فَإِذَا
fa-idha
And when
قَرَأۡنَٰهُ
qaranahu
We have recited it
فَٱتَّبِعۡ
fa-ittabi'
then follow
قُرۡءَانَهُۥ
qur'anahu
its recitation
١٨
When We have recited it, repeat the recitation

ثُمَّ
thumma
Then
إِنَّ
inna
indeed
عَلَيۡنَا
alayna
upon Us
بَيَانَهُۥ
bayanahu
(is) its explanation
١٩
and We shall make it clear
