Hadith about the Dua
حَدَّثَنَا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَبِي عُبَيْدَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي، عَنِ الأَعْمَشِ، عَنْ طَلْحَةَ الأَيَامِيِّ، عَنْ ذَرٍّ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبْزَى، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ أُبَىِّ بْنِ كَعْبٍ، قَالَ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم إِذَا سَلَّمَ فِي الْوِتْرِ قَالَ " سُبْحَانَ الْمَلِكِ الْقُدُّوسِ " .
Translation
Narrated Ubayy ibn Ka'b: When the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) offered salutation in the witr prayer, he said: Glorify be to the king most holy. Sunan Abi Dawud 1430 [Sunane Dara Kutni 2/31, Mo'jamul Awsat 8/108, Sunan Baihaqi 3/40]

- When to Recite Dua After Witr Salah
Common Questions
Say Subhan Al-Malik Al-Quddus three times. The third time, say it louder. This is what the Prophet taught us to do after witr.
After you finish witr and say Salam, pray two more Rakahs while sitting. The Prophet did this. It brings extra blessings.
In the last rakah of Witr, say Dua e Qunoot. It asks Allah for help and forgiveness. This follows the Sunnah.
Hadith says you can pray two rakats of nafl after witr. This does not change your witr. Your worship stays complete.
For three rakat witr: say Surah Al-A'la in the first, Al Kafirun in the second, Ikhlas in the third. The Prophet did this.
