  • It's in Sahih Muslim. You follow the true and authentic Sunnah when you say it.

Common Questions

You ask Allah to open the special doors of His mercy. When you say this, you hope Allah will accept your worship and give you peace inside the masjid.

Step in with your right foot. Say the dua at the same time. This is how the Prophet did it every time he entered a place of worship.

The mosque is where we ask for forgiveness and worship Allah. We need His Rahmah to focus properly on our prayers and to make them accepted.

When entering, you ask for Allah's mercy or Rahmah. When leaving, you ask for His bounty or Fadl. Inside you need mercy. Outside you need rizq and provision.

Yes. It's in Sahih Muslim and Abu Dawud. Both are very authentic sources. The Prophet taught this to his companions so they say it every time they enter.

Say Bismillah first. Then send salawat on the Prophet. Then ask Allah to open the doors of mercy for you. Step in with your right foot when you say it.

Bismillah is good. But the full dua includes sending peace on the Prophet and asking for mercy. When you say the whole thing, you complete the Sunnah and get more reward.

Say it quietly as soon as you remember. Even if you're already inside. Allah hears you. He knows your intention when you ask for mercy.

You don't need wudu just to say the dua. But it's better to enter the masjid with wudu. Why? Because you're going there to perform salah anyway.

The Prophet taught us this prayer. We honor him before we ask for mercy. This is one way to make our dua more likely to be accepted by Allah.
