اَللَّهُمَّ إِنَّكَ عَفُوٌّ كَرِيمٌ تُحِبُّ الْعَفْوَ فَاعْفُ عَنِّي
Transliteration
Allaahumma innaka `Afuwwun Karimun, tuhibbul-`afwa fa`fu `anni
Translation
O Allah, indeed You are Pardoning, [Generous,] You love pardon, so pardon me.

Hadith about the Dua
حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، حَدَّثَنَا جَعْفَرُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ الضُّبَعِيُّ، عَنْ كَهْمَسِ بْنِ الْحَسَنِ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ بُرَيْدَةَ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ، قَالَتْ قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ أَرَأَيْتَ إِنْ عَلِمْتُ أَىُّ لَيْلَةٍ لَيْلَةُ الْقَدْرِ مَا أَقُولُ فِيهَا قَالَ " قُولِي اللَّهُمَّ إِنَّكَ عَفُوٌّ كَرِيمٌ تُحِبُّ الْعَفْوَ فَاعْفُ عَنِّي " . قَالَ هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ .
Translation
Aishah narrated: “I said: ‘O Messenger of Allah, what is your view if I know when the Night of Al-Qadr is, then what should I say in it?” He said: ‘Say: “O Allah, indeed You are Pardoning, [Generous,] You love pardon, so pardon me (Allāhumma innaka `Afuwwun [Karīmun], tuḥibbul-`afwa fa`fu `annī).’” [Sahih (Albani). Common Questions
The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught this dua for the night of power. It means: O Allah, You forgive all the time. You love forgiving. So forgive me. Every muslim says it for mercy and hope.
Here is how: اللَّهُمَّ إِنَّكَ عَفُوٌّ تُحِبُّ الْعَفْوَ فَاعْفُ عَنِّي. Muslims read this dua in shab e qadr to ask forgiveness on laylatul qadr.
Say Allahumma innaka 'a'fuwwun tuhibbul 'afwa fa a'fu 'anni. Muslims say it in the last ten nights of Ramadan. We ask Allah for a fresh start and full pardon.
Astaghfirullah is very strong. The longer one is Astaghfirullāha rabbī wa-atūbu ilayhi. The Prophet (PBUH) said them daily. Muslims love these duas to seek pardon.
Try this dua too: Rabbana atina fid-dunya hasanatan wa fil 'akhirati hasanatan waqina 'azaaban-nar. It asks for good in this life and the next, and safety from hellfire. Very important muslim prayer.
