Translation

O Allah, I seek refuge in Thee from incapacity, from indolence, from cowardice, from senility, from miserliness, and I seek refuge in Thee from the torment of the grave and from trial of the life and death.

Translation

Narrated `Aisha: The Prophet (ﷺ) used to say, 'O Allah! I seek refuge with You from the affliction of the Fire, the punishment of the Fire, the affliction of the grave, the punishment of the grave, and the evil of the affliction of poverty. O Allah! I seek refuge with You from the evil of the affliction of Al-Masih Ad- Dajjal, O Allah! Cleanse my heart with the water of snow and hail, and cleanse my heart from all sins as a white garment is cleansed from filth, and let there be a far away distance between me and my sins as You made the East and West far away from each other. O Allah! I seek refuge with You from laziness, sins, and from being in debt." [Bukhari: 6377, Muslim: 2706]

Common Questions

Surah Al-Mulk keeps away the grave's punishment. Read it every night. Muslims call it Al-Maane`ah. True hadith say it brings reward and safety.

Read Surah Al-Mulk every night. Read Surah Al-Kahf every Friday. Pray your salah daily and read Quran. These bring safety in the grave.

Say: Allahumma innee a'oozubika min 'azaabil qabri wa min 'azaabi jahannama, wa min fitnatil mahyaa walmamaato, wa min sharro fitnatil-maseehid-dajjal. This asks Allah to save you from hard tests and grave pain.

Muslims read Surah Yasin, Surah Al-Mulk, Surah Al-Fatihah, Surah Az-Zilzal, Surah Al-Ikhlas, and Ayah-al-Kursi at graves. They ask Allah to bless the dead and send them Quran rewards.

When closing the dead person's eyes, we ask Allah to forgive them, raise their place, join them with good people, and fill their grave with light and mercy. This shows Islamic care.
