28:61
أَفَمَن
afaman
Then is (he) whom
وَعَدۡنَٰهُ
wa'adnahu
We have promised him
وَعۡدًا
wa'dan
a promise
حَسَنٗا
hasanan
good
فَهُوَ
fahuwa
and he
لَٰقِيهِ
laqihi
(will) meet it
كَمَن
kaman
like (the one) whom
مَّتَّعۡنَٰهُ
matta'nahu
We provided him
مَتَٰعَ
mata'a
enjoyment
ٱلۡحَيَوٰةِ
al-hayati
(of the) life
ٱلدُّنۡيَا
al-dun'ya
(of) the world
ثُمَّ
thumma
then
هُوَ
huwa
he
يَوۡمَ
yawma
(on the) Day
ٱلۡقِيَٰمَةِ
al-qiyamati
(of) the Resurrection
مِنَ
mina
(will be) among
ٱلۡمُحۡضَرِينَ
al-muh'darina
those presented
٦١

Can the person who will see the fulfilment of the good promise We gave him be compared to someone We have given some enjoyments for this worldly life but who, on the Day of Resurrection, will be summoned

Translation 1260

28:62
وَيَوۡمَ
wayawma
And (the) Day
يُنَادِيهِمۡ
yunadihim
He will call them
فَيَقُولُ
fayaqulu
and say
أَيۡنَ
ayna
Where
شُرَكَآءِيَ
shurakaiya
(are) My partners
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhina
whom
كُنتُمۡ
kuntum
you used (to)
تَزۡعُمُونَ
taz'umuna
claim
٦٢

The Day will come when God will call them, saying, ‘Where now are those you allege are My partners?’

Translation 1260

28:63
قَالَ
qala
(Will) say
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhina
those
حَقَّ
haqqa
(has) come true
عَلَيۡهِمُ
alayhimu
against whom
ٱلۡقَوۡلُ
al-qawlu
the Word
رَبَّنَا
rabbana
Our Lord
هَٰٓؤُلَآءِ
haulai
These
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhina
(are) those whom
أَغۡوَيۡنَآ
aghwayna
we led astray
أَغۡوَيۡنَٰهُمۡ
aghwaynahum
We led them astray
كَمَا
kama
as
غَوَيۡنَاۖ
ghawayna
we were astray
تَبَرَّأۡنَآ
tabarrana
We declare our innocence
إِلَيۡكَۖ
ilayka
before You
مَا
ma
Not
كَانُوٓاْ
kanu
they used (to)
إِيَّانَا
iyyana
worship us
يَعۡبُدُونَ
ya'buduna
worship us
٦٣

and those [ringleaders] against whom the verdict will be passed will say, ‘Our Lord, these are the ones we caused to deviate. We caused them to deviate as we ourselves deviated, but now we disown them before You: they did not really serve us.’

Translation 1260

28:64
وَقِيلَ
waqila
And it will be said
ٱدۡعُواْ
id'u
Call
شُرَكَآءَكُمۡ
shurakaakum
your partners
فَدَعَوۡهُمۡ
fada'awhum
And they will call them
فَلَمۡ
falam
but not
يَسۡتَجِيبُواْ
yastajibu
they will respond
لَهُمۡ
lahum
to them
وَرَأَوُاْ
wara-awu
and they will see
ٱلۡعَذَابَۚ
al-'adhaba
the punishment
لَوۡ
law
If only
أَنَّهُمۡ
annahum
[that] they
كَانُواْ
kanu
had been
يَهۡتَدُونَ
yahtaduna
guided
٦٤

It will then be said to them, ‘Now call those you worshipped as partners,’ and they will call them but receive no answer. They will see the suffering and wish they had followed guidance

Translation 1260

28:65
وَيَوۡمَ
wayawma
And (the) Day
يُنَادِيهِمۡ
yunadihim
He will call them
فَيَقُولُ
fayaqulu
and say
مَاذَآ
madha
What
أَجَبۡتُمُ
ajabtumu
did you answer
ٱلۡمُرۡسَلِينَ
al-mur'salina
the Messengers
٦٥

On that Day He will call them, saying, ‘How did you respond to My messengers?’

Translation 1260

28:66
فَعَمِيَتۡ
fa'amiyat
But (will) be obscure
عَلَيۡهِمُ
alayhimu
to them
ٱلۡأَنۢبَآءُ
al-anbau
the information
يَوۡمَئِذٖ
yawma-idhin
that day
فَهُمۡ
fahum
so they
لَا
la
will not ask one another
يَتَسَآءَلُونَ
yatasaaluna
will not ask one another
٦٦

All arguments will seem obscure to them on that Day; they will not be able to consult one another

Translation 1260

28:67
فَأَمَّا
fa-amma
But as for
مَن
man
(him) who
تَابَ
taba
repented
وَءَامَنَ
waamana
and believed
وَعَمِلَ
wa'amila
and did
صَٰلِحٗا
salihan
righteousness
فَعَسَىٰٓ
fa'asa
then perhaps
أَن
an
[that]
يَكُونَ
yakuna
he will be
مِنَ
mina
of
ٱلۡمُفۡلِحِينَ
al-muf'lihina
the successful ones
٦٧

Yet anyone who has repented, believed, and done good deeds can hope to find himself among the successful

Translation 1260

28:68
وَرَبُّكَ
warabbuka
And your Lord
يَخۡلُقُ
yakhluqu
creates
مَا
ma
what
يَشَآءُ
yashau
He wills
وَيَخۡتَارُۗ
wayakhtaru
and chooses
مَا
ma
Not
كَانَ
kana
they have
لَهُمُ
lahumu
for them
ٱلۡخِيَرَةُۚ
al-khiyaratu
the choice
سُبۡحَٰنَ
sub'hana
Glory be
ٱللَّهِ
al-lahi
(to) Allah
وَتَعَٰلَىٰ
wata'ala
and High is He
عَمَّا
amma
above what
يُشۡرِكُونَ
yush'rikuna
they associate (with Him)
٦٨

Your Lord creates what He pleases and chooses those He will- they have no choice- so glory be to God, and may He be exalted above the partners they ascribe to Him

Translation 1260

28:69
وَرَبُّكَ
warabbuka
And your Lord
يَعۡلَمُ
ya'lamu
knows
مَا
ma
what
تُكِنُّ
tukinnu
conceals
صُدُورُهُمۡ
suduruhum
their breasts
وَمَا
wama
and what
يُعۡلِنُونَ
yu'linuna
they declare
٦٩

Your Lord knows what their hearts conceal and what they reveal

Translation 1260

28:70
وَهُوَ
wahuwa
And He
ٱللَّهُ
al-lahu
(is) Allah
لَآ
la
(there is) no
إِلَٰهَ
ilaha
god
إِلَّا
illa
but
هُوَۖ
huwa
He
لَهُ
lahu
To Him
ٱلۡحَمۡدُ
al-hamdu
(are due) all praises
فِي
fi
in
ٱلۡأُولَىٰ
al-ula
the first
وَٱلۡأٓخِرَةِۖ
wal-akhirati
and the last
وَلَهُ
walahu
And for Him
ٱلۡحُكۡمُ
al-huk'mu
(is) the Decision
وَإِلَيۡهِ
wa-ilayhi
and to Him
تُرۡجَعُونَ
tur'ja'una
you will be returned
٧٠

He is God; there is no god but Him; all praise belongs to Him in this world and the next; His is the Judgement; and to Him you shall be returned

قُلۡ
qul
Say
أَرَءَيۡتُمۡ
ara-aytum
Have you seen
إِن
in
if
جَعَلَ
ja'ala
Allah made
ٱللَّهُ
al-lahu
Allah made
عَلَيۡكُمُ
alaykumu
for you
ٱلَّيۡلَ
al-layla
the night
سَرۡمَدًا
sarmadan
continuous
إِلَىٰ
ila
till
يَوۡمِ
yawmi
(the) Day
ٱلۡقِيَٰمَةِ
al-qiyamati
(of) the Resurrection
مَنۡ
man
who
إِلَٰهٌ
ilahun
(is the) god
غَيۡرُ
ghayru
besides
ٱللَّهِ
al-lahi
Allah
يَأۡتِيكُم
yatikum
who could bring you
بِضِيَآءٍۚ
bidiyain
light
أَفَلَا
afala
Then will not
تَسۡمَعُونَ
tasma'una
you hear
٧١

Say [Prophet], ‘Just think, if God were to cast perpetual night over you until the Day of Resurrection, what god other than He could bring you light? Do you not listen?’

Translation 1260

28:72
قُلۡ
qul
Say
أَرَءَيۡتُمۡ
ara-aytum
Have you seen
إِن
in
if
جَعَلَ
ja'ala
Allah made
ٱللَّهُ
al-lahu
Allah made
عَلَيۡكُمُ
alaykumu
for you
ٱلنَّهَارَ
al-nahara
the day
سَرۡمَدًا
sarmadan
continuous
إِلَىٰ
ila
till
يَوۡمِ
yawmi
(the) Day
ٱلۡقِيَٰمَةِ
al-qiyamati
(of) the Resurrection
مَنۡ
man
who
إِلَٰهٌ
ilahun
(is the) god
غَيۡرُ
ghayru
besides
ٱللَّهِ
al-lahi
Allah
يَأۡتِيكُم
yatikum
who could bring you
بِلَيۡلٖ
bilaylin
night
تَسۡكُنُونَ
taskununa
(for) you (to) rest
فِيهِۚ
fihi
in it
أَفَلَا
afala
Then will not
تُبۡصِرُونَ
tub'siruna
you see
٧٢

Say, ‘Just think, if God were to cast perpetual day over you until the Day of Resurrection, what god other than He could give you night in which to rest? Do you not see

Translation 1260

28:73
وَمِن
wamin
And from
رَّحۡمَتِهِۦ
rahmatihi
His Mercy
جَعَلَ
ja'ala
He made
لَكُمُ
lakumu
for you
ٱلَّيۡلَ
al-layla
the night
وَٱلنَّهَارَ
wal-nahara
and the day
لِتَسۡكُنُواْ
litaskunu
that you may rest
فِيهِ
fihi
therein
وَلِتَبۡتَغُواْ
walitabtaghu
and that you may seek
مِن
min
from
فَضۡلِهِۦ
fadlihi
His Bounty
وَلَعَلَّكُمۡ
wala'allakum
and so that you may
تَشۡكُرُونَ
tashkuruna
be grateful
٧٣

In His mercy He has given you night and day, so that you may rest and seek His bounty and be grateful.’

Translation 1260

28:74
وَيَوۡمَ
wayawma
And (the) Day
يُنَادِيهِمۡ
yunadihim
He will call them
فَيَقُولُ
fayaqulu
and say
أَيۡنَ
ayna
Where
شُرَكَآءِيَ
shurakaiya
(are) My partners
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhina
whom
كُنتُمۡ
kuntum
you used (to)
تَزۡعُمُونَ
taz'umuna
claim
٧٤

The Day will come when He will call out to them, saying, ‘Where are the partners you claimed for Me?’

Translation 1260

28:75
وَنَزَعۡنَا
wanaza'na
And We will draw forth
مِن
min
from
كُلِّ
kulli
every
أُمَّةٖ
ummatin
nation
شَهِيدٗا
shahidan
a witness
فَقُلۡنَا
faqul'na
and We will say
هَاتُواْ
hatu
Bring
بُرۡهَٰنَكُمۡ
bur'hanakum
your proof
فَعَلِمُوٓاْ
fa'alimu
Then they will know
أَنَّ
anna
that
ٱلۡحَقَّ
al-haqa
the truth
لِلَّهِ
lillahi
(is) for Allah
وَضَلَّ
wadalla
and (will be) lost
عَنۡهُم
anhum
from them
مَّا
ma
what
كَانُواْ
kanu
they used (to)
يَفۡتَرُونَ
yaftaruna
invent
٧٥

We shall call a witness from every community, and say, ‘Produce your evidence,’ and then they will know that truth belongs to God alone; the gods they invented will forsake them
