37:1
وَٱلصَّٰٓفَّٰتِ
wal-safati
By those lined
صَفّٗا
saffan
(in) rows
١
By those [angels] ranged in rows
Translation 1260
As-Saffat 37:7
surah037
ﲪﲫﲮﲴ
37:2
فَٱلزَّٰجِرَٰتِ
fal-zajirati
And those who drive
زَجۡرٗا
zajran
strongly
٢
who rebuke reproachfully
Translation 1260
37:3
فَٱلتَّٰلِيَٰتِ
fal-taliyati
And those who recite
ذِكۡرًا
dhik'ran
(the) Message
٣
and recite God’s word
Translation 1260
37:4
إِنَّ
inna
Indeed
إِلَٰهَكُمۡ
ilahakum
your Lord
لَوَٰحِدٞ
lawahidun
(is) surely One
٤
truly your God is One
Translation 1260
37:5
رَّبُّ
rabbu
Lord
ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ
al-samawati
(of) the heavens
وَٱلۡأَرۡضِ
wal-ardi
and the earth
وَمَا
wama
and what
بَيۡنَهُمَا
baynahuma
(is) between both of them
وَرَبُّ
warabbu
and Lord
ٱلۡمَشَٰرِقِ
al-mashariqi
(of) each point of sunrise
٥
Lord of the heavens and earth and everything between them, Lord of every sunrise

37:6
إِنَّا
inna
Indeed We
زَيَّنَّا
zayyanna
[We] adorned
ٱلسَّمَآءَ
al-samaa
the sky
ٱلدُّنۡيَا
al-dun'ya
[the world]
بِزِينَةٍ
bizinatin
with an adornment
ٱلۡكَوَاكِبِ
al-kawakibi
(of) the stars
٦
We have adorned the lowest heaven with stars

37:7
وَحِفۡظٗا
wahif'zan
And (to) guard
مِّن
min
against
كُلِّ
kulli
every
شَيۡطَٰنٖ
shaytanin
devil
مَّارِدٖ
maridin
rebellious
٧
and made them a safeguard against every rebellious devil

37:8
لَّا
la
Not
يَسَّمَّعُونَ
yassamma'una
they may listen
إِلَى
ila
to
ٱلۡمَلَإِ
al-mala-i
the assembly
ٱلۡأَعۡلَىٰ
al-a'la
[the] exalted
وَيُقۡذَفُونَ
wayuq'dhafuna
are pelted
مِن
min
from
كُلِّ
kulli
every
جَانِبٖ
janibin
side
٨
they cannot eavesdrop on the Higher Assembly––pelted from every side

37:9
دُحُورٗاۖ
duhuran
Repelled
وَلَهُمۡ
walahum
and for them
عَذَابٞ
adhabun
(is) a punishment
وَاصِبٌ
wasibun
perpetual
٩
driven away, they will have perpetual torment––

37:10
إِلَّا
illa
Except
مَنۡ
man
(him) who
خَطِفَ
khatifa
snatches
ٱلۡخَطۡفَةَ
al-khatfata
(by) theft
فَأَتۡبَعَهُۥ
fa-atba'ahu
but follows him
شِهَابٞ
shihabun
a burning flame
ثَاقِبٞ
thaqibun
piercing
١٠
if any [of them] stealthily snatches away a fragment, he will be pursued by a piercing flame

37:11
فَٱسۡتَفۡتِهِمۡ
fa-is'taftihim
Then ask them
أَهُمۡ
ahum
Are they
أَشَدُّ
ashaddu
a stronger
خَلۡقًا
khalqan
creation
أَم
am
or
مَّنۡ
man
(those) whom
خَلَقۡنَآۚ
khalaqna
We have created
إِنَّا
inna
Indeed We
خَلَقۡنَٰهُم
khalaqnahum
created them
مِّن
min
from
طِينٖ
tinin
a clay
لَّازِبِۭ
lazibin
sticky
١١
So [Prophet], ask the disbelievers: is it harder to create them than other beings We have created? We created them from sticky clay

37:12
بَلۡ
bal
Nay
عَجِبۡتَ
ajib'ta
you wonder
وَيَسۡخَرُونَ
wayaskharuna
while they mock
١٢
You marvel as they scoff

37:13
وَإِذَا
wa-idha
And when
ذُكِّرُواْ
dhukkiru
they are reminded
لَا
la
not
يَذۡكُرُونَ
yadhkuruna
they receive admonition
١٣
take no heed when they are warned

37:14
وَإِذَا
wa-idha
And when
رَأَوۡاْ
ra-aw
they see
ءَايَةٗ
ayatan
a Sign
يَسۡتَسۡخِرُونَ
yastaskhiruna
they mock
١٤
and resort to ridicule when they see a sign
Translation 1260
37:15
وَقَالُوٓاْ
waqalu
And they say
إِنۡ
in
Not
هَٰذَآ
hadha
(is) this
إِلَّا
illa
except
سِحۡرٞ
sih'run
a magic
مُّبِينٌ
mubinun
clear
١٥
saying, ‘This is no more than blatant sorcery.’

37:16
أَءِذَا
a-idha
Is it when
مِتۡنَا
mit'na
we are dead
وَكُنَّا
wakunna
and have become
تُرَابٗا
turaban
dust
وَعِظَٰمًا
wa'izaman
and bones
أَءِنَّا
a-inna
shall we then
لَمَبۡعُوثُونَ
lamab'uthuna
be certainly resurrected
١٦
‘What! After we have died and become dust and bones, shall we really be raised up again

37:17
أَوَءَابَآؤُنَا
awaabauna
Or our fathers
ٱلۡأَوَّلُونَ
al-awaluna
former
١٧
along with our forefathers?’

37:18
قُلۡ
qul
Say
نَعَمۡ
na'am
Yes
وَأَنتُمۡ
wa-antum
and you
دَٰخِرُونَ
dakhiruna
(will be) humiliated
١٨
Say, ‘Yes indeed, and you will be humiliated.’

37:19
فَإِنَّمَا
fa-innama
Then only
هِيَ
hiya
it
زَجۡرَةٞ
zajratun
(will be) a cry
وَٰحِدَةٞ
wahidatun
single
فَإِذَا
fa-idha
then behold
هُمۡ
hum
They
يَنظُرُونَ
yanzuruna
will see
١٩
Just one blast and––lo and behold!––they will look

37:20
وَقَالُواْ
waqalu
And they will say
يَٰوَيۡلَنَا
yawaylana
O woe to us
هَٰذَا
hadha
This
يَوۡمُ
yawmu
(is the) Day
ٱلدِّينِ
al-dini
(of) the Recompense
٢٠
and say, ‘Woe to us! This is the Day of Judgement.’

37:21
هَٰذَا
hadha
This
يَوۡمُ
yawmu
(is the) Day
ٱلۡفَصۡلِ
al-fasli
(of) Judgment
ٱلَّذِي
alladhi
which
كُنتُم
kuntum
you used to
بِهِۦ
bihi
[of it]
تُكَذِّبُونَ
tukadhibuna
deny
٢١
[It will be said], ‘This is the Day of Decision, which you used to deny

37:22
۞ٱحۡشُرُواْ
uh'shuru
Gather
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhina
those who
ظَلَمُواْ
zalamu
wronged
وَأَزۡوَٰجَهُمۡ
wa-azwajahum
and their kinds
وَمَا
wama
and what
كَانُواْ
kanu
they used (to)
يَعۡبُدُونَ
ya'buduna
worship
٢٢
[Angels], gather together those who did wrong, and others like them, as well as whatever they worshipped

37:23
مِن
min
Besides
دُونِ
duni
Besides
ٱللَّهِ
al-lahi
Allah
فَٱهۡدُوهُمۡ
fa-ih'duhum
then lead them
إِلَىٰ
ila
to
صِرَٰطِ
sirati
(the) Path
ٱلۡجَحِيمِ
al-jahimi
(of) the Hellfire
٢٣
beside God, lead them all to the path of Hell

37:24
وَقِفُوهُمۡۖ
waqifuhum
And stop them
إِنَّهُم
innahum
indeed they
مَّسۡـُٔولُونَ
masuluna
(are) to be questioned
٢٤
and halt them for questioning

What
لَكُمۡ
lakum
(is) for you
لَا
la
(Why) not
تَنَاصَرُونَ
tanasaruna
you help one another
٢٥
“Why do you not support each other now?” ’––
