8:22

۞إِنَّ

ʹInna

Indeed

شَرَّ

sharrad

worst

ٱلدَّوَآبِّ

dawaaabbi

(of) the living creatures

عِندَ

ʻiñdal

near

ٱللَّهِ

laahiṣ

Allah

ٱلصُّمُّ

ṣummul

(are) the deaf

ٱلۡبُكۡمُ

bukmul

the dumb

ٱلَّذِينَ

laẓeena

those who

لَا

laa-

(do) not

يَعۡقِلُونَ

yaʻq̣iloon.

use (their) intellect

٢٢

8:23

وَلَوۡ

Wa-law

And if

عَلِمَ

ʻalimal

(had) known

ٱللَّهُ

laahu

Allah

فِيهِمۡ

feehim

in them

خَيۡرٗا

khayral

any good

لَّأَسۡمَعَهُمۡۖ

laʹasmaʻahum:

surely He (would) have made them hear

وَلَوۡ

wa-law

And if

أَسۡمَعَهُمۡ

ʹasmaʻahum

He had made them hear

لَتَوَلَّواْ

latawallaw

surely they would have turned away

وَّهُم

wahum

while they

مُّعۡرِضُونَ

muʻriḍoon.

(were) averse

٢٣

8:24

يَٰٓأَيُّهَا

Yaaaʹayyuhal

O you

ٱلَّذِينَ

laẓeena

who

ءَامَنُواْ

ʹaamanus

believe

ٱسۡتَجِيبُواْ

tajeeboo

Respond

لِلَّهِ

lillaahi

to Allah

وَلِلرَّسُولِ

wa-lir-Rasooli

and His Messenger

إِذَا

ʹiẓaa

when

دَعَاكُمۡ

daʻaakum

he calls you

لِمَا

limaa

to what

يُحۡيِيكُمۡۖ

yuḥyeekum:

gives you life

وَٱعۡلَمُوٓاْ

waʻlamooo

And know

أَنَّ

ʹannal

that

ٱللَّهَ

laaha

Allah

يَحُولُ

yaḥoolu

comes

بَيۡنَ

baynal

(in) between

ٱلۡمَرۡءِ

marʹi

a man

وَقَلۡبِهِۦ

wa-q̣albihee

and his heart

وَأَنَّهُۥٓ

wa-ʹannahooo

and that

إِلَيۡهِ

ʹilayhi

to Him

تُحۡشَرُونَ

tuḥsharoon.

you will be gathered

٢٤

8:25

وَٱتَّقُواْ

Wattaq̣oo

And fear

فِتۡنَةٗ

fitnatal

a trial

لَّا

laa

not

تُصِيبَنَّ

tuṣeebannal

which will afflict

ٱلَّذِينَ

laẓeena

those who

ظَلَمُواْ

z̤̣alamoo

do wrong

مِنكُمۡ

miñkum

among you

خَآصَّةٗۖ

khaaaṣṣah:

exclusively

وَٱعۡلَمُوٓاْ

waʻlamooo

And know

أَنَّ

ʹannal

that

ٱللَّهَ

laaha

Allah

شَدِيدُ

shadeedul

(is) severe

ٱلۡعِقَابِ

ʻiq̣aab.

(in) the penalty

8:26

وَٱذۡكُرُوٓاْ

Waẓkurooo

And remember

إِذۡ

ʹiẓ

when

أَنتُمۡ

ʹañtum

you

قَلِيلٞ

q̣aleelum

(were) few

مُّسۡتَضۡعَفُونَ

mustaḍʻafoona

(and) deemed weak

فِي

fil

ٱلۡأَرۡضِ

ʹarḍi

the earth

تَخَافُونَ

takhaafoona

fearing

أَن

ʹañy

that

يَتَخَطَّفَكُمُ

yatakhaṭṭafakumun

might do away with you

ٱلنَّاسُ

naasu

the men

فَـَٔاوَىٰكُمۡ

faʹaawaakum

then He sheltered you

وَأَيَّدَكُم

wa-ʹayyadakum̃

and strengthened you

بِنَصۡرِهِۦ

binaṣrihee

with His help

وَرَزَقَكُم

wa-razaq̣akum

and provided you

مِّنَ

minaṭ

ٱلطَّيِّبَٰتِ

ṭayyibaati

the good things

لَعَلَّكُمۡ

laʻallakum

so that you may

تَشۡكُرُونَ

tashkuroon.

(be) thankful

٢٦

8:27

يَٰٓأَيُّهَا

Yaaaʹayyuhal

O you

ٱلَّذِينَ

laẓeena

who

ءَامَنُواْ

ʹaamanoo

believe

لَا

laa-

(Do) not

تَخُونُواْ

takhoonul

betray

ٱللَّهَ

laaha

Allah

وَٱلرَّسُولَ

war-Rasoola

and the Messenger

وَتَخُونُوٓاْ

wa-takhoonooo

or betray

أَمَٰنَٰتِكُمۡ

ʹamaanaatikum

your trusts

وَأَنتُمۡ

wa-ʹañtum

while you

تَعۡلَمُونَ

taʻlamoon.

know

٢٧

8:28

وَٱعۡلَمُوٓاْ

Waʻlamooo

And know

أَنَّمَآ

ʹannamaaa

that

أَمۡوَٰلُكُمۡ

ʹamwaalukum

your wealth

وَأَوۡلَٰدُكُمۡ

wa-ʹawlaadukum

and your children

فِتۡنَةٞ

fitnatuñw

(are) a trial

وَأَنَّ

waʹannal

And that

ٱللَّهَ

laaha

Allah

عِندَهُۥٓ

ʻiñdahooo

with Him

أَجۡرٌ

ʹajrun

(is) a reward

عَظِيمٞ

ʻaz̤̣eem.

great

٢٨

8:29

يَٰٓأَيُّهَا

Yaaaʹayyuhal

O you

ٱلَّذِينَ

laẓeena

who

ءَامَنُوٓاْ

ʹaamanooo

believe

إِن

ʹiñ

تَتَّقُواْ

tattaq̣ul

you fear

ٱللَّهَ

laaha

Allah

يَجۡعَل

yajʻal

He will grant

لَّكُمۡ

lakum

you

فُرۡقَانٗا

Furq̣aanañw

a criterion

وَيُكَفِّرۡ

Wayukaffir

and will remove

عَنكُمۡ

ʻañkum

from you

سَيِّـَٔاتِكُمۡ

sayyiʹaatikum

your evil deeds

وَيَغۡفِرۡ

wa-yag̣fir

and forgive

لَكُمۡۗ

lakum.

you

وَٱللَّهُ

Wallaahu

And Allah

ذُو

Ẓul

(is) the Possessor

ٱلۡفَضۡلِ

Faḍlil

(of) Bounty

ٱلۡعَظِيمِ

ʻaz̤̣eem.

the Great

٢٩

8:30

وَإِذۡ

Wa-ʹiẓ

And when

يَمۡكُرُ

yamkuru

plotted

بِكَ

bikal

against you

ٱلَّذِينَ

laẓeena

those who

كَفَرُواْ

kafaroo

disbelieved

لِيُثۡبِتُوكَ

liyus̤bitooka

that they restrain you

أَوۡ

ʹaw

يَقۡتُلُوكَ

yaq̣tulooka

kill you

أَوۡ

ʹaw

يُخۡرِجُوكَۚ

yukhrijook.

drive you out

وَيَمۡكُرُونَ

Wa-yamkuroona

And they were planning

وَيَمۡكُرُ

wa-yamkurul

and (also) was planning

ٱللَّهُۖ

laah:

Allah

وَٱللَّهُ

wallaahu

And Allah

خَيۡرُ

Khayrul

is (the) Best

ٱلۡمَٰكِرِينَ

maakireen.

(of) the Planners

٣٠

8:31

وَإِذَا

Wa-ʹiẓaa

And when

تُتۡلَىٰ

tutlaa

are recited

عَلَيۡهِمۡ

ʻalayhim

to them

ءَايَٰتُنَا

ʹAayaatunaa

Our Verses

قَالُواْ

q̣aaloo

they say

قَدۡ

q̣ad

Verily

سَمِعۡنَا

samiʻnaa

we have heard

لَوۡ

law

نَشَآءُ

nashaaaʹu

we wish

لَقُلۡنَا

laq̣ulnaa

surely we could say

مِثۡلَ

mis̤la

هَٰذَآ

haaẓaaa

this

إِنۡ

ʹin

Not

هَٰذَآ

haaẓaaa

is this

إِلَّآ

ʹillaaa

but

أَسَٰطِيرُ

ʹasaaṭeerul

tales

ٱلۡأَوَّلِينَ

ʹawwaleen.

(of) the former (people)

٣١

8:32

وَإِذۡ

Wa-ʹiẓ

And when

قَالُواْ

q̣aalul

they said

ٱللَّهُمَّ

laahumma

O Allah

إِن

ʹiñ

كَانَ

kaana

was

هَٰذَا

haaẓaa

this

هُوَ

huwal

[it]

ٱلۡحَقَّ

Ḥaq̣q̣a

the truth

مِنۡ

min

[of]

عِندِكَ

ʻiñdika

from You

فَأَمۡطِرۡ

faʹamṭir

then (send) rain

عَلَيۡنَا

ʻalaynaa

upon us

حِجَارَةٗ

ḥijaaratam

(of) stones

مِّنَ

minas

from

ٱلسَّمَآءِ

samaaaʹi

the sky

أَوِ

ʹawiʹ

ٱئۡتِنَا

tinaa

bring (upon) us

بِعَذَابٍ

biʻaẓaabin

a punishment

أَلِيمٖ

ʹaleem.

painful

٣٢

8:33

وَمَا

Wa-maa

But not

كَانَ

kaanal

ٱللَّهُ

laahu

(for) Allah

لِيُعَذِّبَهُمۡ

liyuʻaẓẓibahum

that He punishes them

وَأَنتَ

wa-ʹañta

while you

فِيهِمۡۚ

feehim;

(are) among them

وَمَا

wa-maa

and not

كَانَ

kaanal

ٱللَّهُ

laahu

Allah

مُعَذِّبَهُمۡ

muʻaẓẓibahum

the One Who punishes them

وَهُمۡ

wa-hum

while they

يَسۡتَغۡفِرُونَ

yastag̣firoon.

seek forgiveness

8:34

وَمَا

Wa-maa

But what

لَهُمۡ

lahum

(is) for them

أَلَّا

ʹallaa

that not

يُعَذِّبَهُمُ

yuʻaẓẓibahumul

(should) punish them

ٱللَّهُ

laahu

Allah

وَهُمۡ

wa-hum

while they

يَصُدُّونَ

yaṣuddoona

hinder (people)

عَنِ

ʻanil

from

ٱلۡمَسۡجِدِ

Masjidil

Al-Masjid

ٱلۡحَرَامِ

Ḥaraami

Al-Haraam

وَمَا

wa-maa

while not

كَانُوٓاْ

kaanooo

they are

أَوۡلِيَآءَهُۥٓۚ

ʹawliyaaaʹah?

its guardians

إِنۡ

ʹIn

Not (can be)

أَوۡلِيَآؤُهُۥٓ

ʹawliyaaaʹuhooo

its guardians

إِلَّا

ʹillal

except

ٱلۡمُتَّقُونَ

Muttaq̣oona

the ones who fear Allah

وَلَٰكِنَّ

walaakinna

but

أَكۡثَرَهُمۡ

ʹaks̤arahum

most of them

لَا

laa-

(do) not

يَعۡلَمُونَ

yaʻlamoon.

know

٣٤

8:35

وَمَا

Wa-maa

And not

كَانَ

kaana

was

صَلَاتُهُمۡ

ṣalaatuhum

their prayer

عِندَ

ʻiñdal

ٱلۡبَيۡتِ

Bayti

the House

إِلَّا

ʹillaa

except

مُكَآءٗ

mukaaaʹañw

whistling

وَتَصۡدِيَةٗۚ

wataṣdiyah:

and clapping

فَذُوقُواْ

faẓooq̣ul

So taste

ٱلۡعَذَابَ

ʻaẓaaba

the punishment

بِمَا

bimaa

because

كُنتُمۡ

kuñtum

you used to

تَكۡفُرُونَ

takfuroon.

disbelieve

٣٥

8:36

إِنَّ

ʹInnal

Indeed

ٱلَّذِينَ

laẓeena

those who

كَفَرُواْ

kafaroo

disbelieve

يُنفِقُونَ

yuñfiq̣oona

they spend

أَمۡوَٰلَهُمۡ

ʹamwaalahum

their wealth

لِيَصُدُّواْ

liyaṣuddoo

to hinder (people)

عَن

ʻañ

from

سَبِيلِ

Sabeelil

(the) way

ٱللَّهِۚ

laah.

(of) Allah

فَسَيُنفِقُونَهَا

Fasayuñfiq̣oonahaa

So they will spend it

ثُمَّ

s̤umma

then

تَكُونُ

takoonu

it will be

عَلَيۡهِمۡ

ʻalayhim

for them

حَسۡرَةٗ

ḥasratañ

a regret

ثُمَّ

s̤umma

then

يُغۡلَبُونَۗ

yug̣laboon.

they will be overcome

وَٱلَّذِينَ

Wal-laẓeena

And those who

كَفَرُوٓاْ

kafarooo

disbelieve

إِلَىٰ

ʹilaa

جَهَنَّمَ

Jahannama

Hell

يُحۡشَرُونَ

yuḥsharoon.

they will be gathered

٣٦

8:37

لِيَمِيزَ

Liyameezal

That may distinguish

ٱللَّهُ

laahul

Allah

ٱلۡخَبِيثَ

khabees̤a

the wicked

مِنَ

minaṭ

from

ٱلطَّيِّبِ

ṭayyibi

the good

وَيَجۡعَلَ

wa-yajʻalal

and place

ٱلۡخَبِيثَ

khabees̤a

the wicked

بَعۡضَهُۥ

baʻḍahoo

some of them

عَلَىٰ

ʻalaa

بَعۡضٖ

baʻḍiñ

others

فَيَرۡكُمَهُۥ

fayarkumahoo

and heap them

جَمِيعٗا

jameeʻañ

all together

فَيَجۡعَلَهُۥ

fayajʻalahoo

and put them

فِي

fee

جَهَنَّمَۚ

jahannam.

Hell

أُوْلَٰٓئِكَ

ʹUlaaaʹika

Those

هُمُ

humul

they

ٱلۡخَٰسِرُونَ

khaasiroon.

(are) the losers

٣٧

8:38

قُل

Q̣ul

Say

لِّلَّذِينَ

lillaẓeena

to those who

كَفَرُوٓاْ

kafarooo

disbelieve

إِن

ʹiñy

يَنتَهُواْ

yañtahoo

they cease

يُغۡفَرۡ

yug̣far

will be forgiven

لَهُم

lahum

for them

مَّا

maa

what

قَدۡ

q̣ad

[verily]

سَلَفَ

salaf;

(is) past

وَإِن

wa-ʹiñy

But if

يَعُودُواْ

yaʻoodoo

they return

فَقَدۡ

faq̣ad

then verily

مَضَتۡ

maḍat

preceded

سُنَّتُ

Sunnatul

(the) practice

ٱلۡأَوَّلِينَ

ʹawwaleen.

(of) the former (people)

٣٨

8:39

وَقَٰتِلُوهُمۡ

Wa-q̣aatiloohum

And fight them

حَتَّىٰ

ḥattaa

until

لَا

laa-

not

تَكُونَ

takoona

there is

فِتۡنَةٞ

fitnatuñw

oppression

وَيَكُونَ

wayakoonad

and is

ٱلدِّينُ

Deenu

the religion

كُلُّهُۥ

kulluhoo

all of it

لِلَّهِۚ

lillaah;

for Allah

فَإِنِ

faʹiniñ

But if

ٱنتَهَوۡاْ

tahaw

they cease

فَإِنَّ

faʹinnal

then indeed

ٱللَّهَ

laaha

Allah

بِمَا

bimaa

of what

يَعۡمَلُونَ

yaʻmaloona

they do

بَصِيرٞ

Baṣeer.

(is) All-Seer

٣٩

8:40

وَإِن

Wa-ʹin

And if

تَوَلَّوۡاْ

tawallaw

they turn away

فَٱعۡلَمُوٓاْ

faʻlamooo

then know

أَنَّ

ʹannal

that

ٱللَّهَ

laaha

Allah

مَوۡلَىٰكُمۡۚ

Mawlaakum―

(is) your Protector

نِعۡمَ

Niʻmal

Excellent

ٱلۡمَوۡلَىٰ

Mawlaa

(is) the Protector

وَنِعۡمَ

wa-Niʻman

and Excellent

ٱلنَّصِيرُ

Naṣeer.

(is) the Helper
