One of the 240 subdivisions of the Quran (quarter of a Hizb)

7:171
۞وَإِذۡ
wa-idh
And when
نَتَقۡنَا
nataqna
We raised
ٱلۡجَبَلَ
al-jabala
the mountain
فَوۡقَهُمۡ
fawqahum
above them
كَأَنَّهُۥ
ka-annahu
as if it was
ظُلَّةٞ
zullatun
a canopy
وَظَنُّوٓاْ
wazannu
and they thought
أَنَّهُۥ
annahu
that it
وَاقِعُۢ
waqi'un
(would) fall
بِهِمۡ
bihim
upon them
خُذُواْ
khudhu
(We said) Take
مَآ
ma
what
ءَاتَيۡنَٰكُم
ataynakum
We have given you
بِقُوَّةٖ
biquwwatin
with strength
وَٱذۡكُرُواْ
wa-udh'kuru
and remember
مَا
ma
what
فِيهِ
fihi
(is) in it
لَعَلَّكُمۡ
la'allakum
so that you may
تَتَّقُونَ
tattaquna
fear Allah
١٧١
7:172
وَإِذۡ
wa-idh
And when
أَخَذَ
akhadha
(was) taken
رَبُّكَ
rabbuka
(by) your Lord
مِنۢ
min
from
بَنِيٓ
bani
(the) Children
ءَادَمَ
adama
(of) Adam
مِن
min
from
ظُهُورِهِمۡ
zuhurihim
their loins
ذُرِّيَّتَهُمۡ
dhurriyyatahum
their descendants
وَأَشۡهَدَهُمۡ
wa-ashhadahum
and made them testify
عَلَىٰٓ
ala
over
أَنفُسِهِمۡ
anfusihim
themselves
أَلَسۡتُ
alastu
Am I not
بِرَبِّكُمۡۖ
birabbikum
your Lord
قَالُواْ
qalu
They said
بَلَىٰ
bala
Yes
شَهِدۡنَآۚ
shahid'na
we have testified
أَن
an
Lest
تَقُولُواْ
taqulu
you say
يَوۡمَ
yawma
(on the) Day
ٱلۡقِيَٰمَةِ
al-qiyamati
(of) the Resurrection
إِنَّا
inna
Indeed
كُنَّا
kunna
we were
عَنۡ
an
about
هَٰذَا
hadha
this
غَٰفِلِينَ
ghafilina
unaware
١٧٢
7:173
أَوۡ
aw
Or
تَقُولُوٓاْ
taqulu
you say
إِنَّمَآ
innama
Only
أَشۡرَكَ
ashraka
partners (were) associated (with Allah)
ءَابَآؤُنَا
abauna
(by) our forefathers
مِن
min
from
قَبۡلُ
qablu
before (us)
وَكُنَّا
wakunna
and we are
ذُرِّيَّةٗ
dhurriyyatan
descendants
مِّنۢ
min
from
بَعۡدِهِمۡۖ
ba'dihim
after them
أَفَتُهۡلِكُنَا
afatuh'likuna
So will You destroy us
بِمَا
bima
for what
فَعَلَ
fa'ala
did
ٱلۡمُبۡطِلُونَ
al-mub'tiluna
the falsifiers
١٧٣
7:174
وَكَذَٰلِكَ
wakadhalika
And thus
نُفَصِّلُ
nufassilu
We explain
ٱلۡأٓيَٰتِ
al-ayati
the Verses
وَلَعَلَّهُمۡ
wala'allahum
so that they may
يَرۡجِعُونَ
yarji'una
return
١٧٤
7:175
وَٱتۡلُ
wa-ut'lu
And recite
عَلَيۡهِمۡ
alayhim
to them
نَبَأَ
naba-a
(the) story
ٱلَّذِيٓ
alladhi
(of the) one whom
ءَاتَيۡنَٰهُ
ataynahu
We gave [him]
ءَايَٰتِنَا
ayatina
Our Verses
فَٱنسَلَخَ
fa-insalakha
but he detached
مِنۡهَا
min'ha
[from] them
فَأَتۡبَعَهُ
fa-atba'ahu
so followed him
ٱلشَّيۡطَٰنُ
al-shaytanu
the Shaitaan
فَكَانَ
fakana
and he became
مِنَ
mina
of
ٱلۡغَاوِينَ
al-ghawina
those gone astray
١٧٥
7:176
وَلَوۡ
walaw
And if
شِئۡنَا
shi'na
We willed
لَرَفَعۡنَٰهُ
larafa'nahu
surely We (could) have raised him
بِهَا
biha
with these
وَلَٰكِنَّهُۥٓ
walakinnahu
[and] but he
أَخۡلَدَ
akhlada
adhered
إِلَى
ila
to
ٱلۡأَرۡضِ
al-ardi
the earth
وَٱتَّبَعَ
wa-ittaba'a
and followed
هَوَىٰهُۚ
hawahu
his (vain) desires
فَمَثَلُهُۥ
famathaluhu
So his example
كَمَثَلِ
kamathali
(is) like (the) example
ٱلۡكَلۡبِ
al-kalbi
(of) the dog
إِن
in
if
تَحۡمِلۡ
tahmil
you attack
عَلَيۡهِ
alayhi
[on] him
يَلۡهَثۡ
yalhath
he lolls out his tongue
أَوۡ
aw
or
تَتۡرُكۡهُ
tatruk'hu
if you leave him
يَلۡهَثۚ
yalhath
he lolls out his tongue
ذَّٰلِكَ
dhalika
That
مَثَلُ
mathalu
(is the) example
ٱلۡقَوۡمِ
al-qawmi
(of) the people
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhina
who
كَذَّبُواْ
kadhabu
denied
بِـَٔايَٰتِنَاۚ
biayatina
[in] Our Signs
فَٱقۡصُصِ
fa-uq'susi
So relate
ٱلۡقَصَصَ
al-qasasa
the story
لَعَلَّهُمۡ
la'allahum
so that they may
يَتَفَكَّرُونَ
yatafakkaruna
reflect
١٧٦
7:177
سَآءَ
saa
Evil
مَثَلًا
mathalan
(as) an example
ٱلۡقَوۡمُ
al-qawmu
(are) the people
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhina
those who
كَذَّبُواْ
kadhabu
denied
بِـَٔايَٰتِنَا
biayatina
Our Signs
وَأَنفُسَهُمۡ
wa-anfusahum
and themselves
كَانُواْ
kanu
they used to
يَظۡلِمُونَ
yazlimuna
wrong
١٧٧
7:178
مَن
man
Whoever
يَهۡدِ
yahdi
(is) guided
ٱللَّهُ
al-lahu
(by) Allah
فَهُوَ
fahuwa
then he
ٱلۡمُهۡتَدِيۖ
al-muh'tadi
(is) the guided one
وَمَن
waman
while whoever
يُضۡلِلۡ
yud'lil
He lets go astray
فَأُوْلَٰٓئِكَ
fa-ulaika
then those
هُمُ
humu
[they]
ٱلۡخَٰسِرُونَ
al-khasiruna
(are) the losers
١٧٨

7:179
وَلَقَدۡ
walaqad
And certainly
ذَرَأۡنَا
dharana
We have created
لِجَهَنَّمَ
lijahannama
for Hell
كَثِيرٗا
kathiran
many
مِّنَ
mina
of
ٱلۡجِنِّ
al-jini
the jinn
وَٱلۡإِنسِۖ
wal-insi
and men
لَهُمۡ
lahum
For them
قُلُوبٞ
qulubun
(are) hearts
لَّا
la
(but) not
يَفۡقَهُونَ
yafqahuna
they understand
بِهَا
biha
with them
وَلَهُمۡ
walahum
and for them
أَعۡيُنٞ
a'yunun
(are) eyes
لَّا
la
(but) not
يُبۡصِرُونَ
yub'siruna
they see
بِهَا
biha
with them
وَلَهُمۡ
walahum
and for them
ءَاذَانٞ
adhanun
(are) ears
لَّا
la
(but) not
يَسۡمَعُونَ
yasma'una
they hear
بِهَآۚ
biha
with them
أُوْلَٰٓئِكَ
ulaika
Those
كَٱلۡأَنۡعَٰمِ
kal-an'ami
(are) like cattle
بَلۡ
bal
nay
هُمۡ
hum
they
أَضَلُّۚ
adallu
(are) more astray
أُوْلَٰٓئِكَ
ulaika
Those
هُمُ
humu
they
ٱلۡغَٰفِلُونَ
al-ghafiluna
(are) the heedless
١٧٩
7:180
وَلِلَّهِ
walillahi
And for Allah
ٱلۡأَسۡمَآءُ
al-asmau
(are) the names
ٱلۡحُسۡنَىٰ
al-hus'na
the most beautiful
فَٱدۡعُوهُ
fa-id'uhu
so invoke Him
بِهَاۖ
biha
by them
وَذَرُواْ
wadharu
And leave
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhina
those who
يُلۡحِدُونَ
yul'hiduna
deviate
فِيٓ
fi
concerning
أَسۡمَٰٓئِهِۦۚ
asmaihi
His names
سَيُجۡزَوۡنَ
sayuj'zawna
They will be recompensed
مَا
ma
for what
كَانُواْ
kanu
they used to
يَعۡمَلُونَ
ya'maluna
do
١٨٠
7:181
وَمِمَّنۡ
wamimman
And of (those) whom
خَلَقۡنَآ
khalaqna
We have created
أُمَّةٞ
ummatun
(is) a nation
يَهۡدُونَ
yahduna
who guides
بِٱلۡحَقِّ
bil-haqi
with the truth
وَبِهِۦ
wabihi
and thereby
يَعۡدِلُونَ
ya'diluna
they establish justice
١٨١
7:182
وَٱلَّذِينَ
wa-alladhina
But those who
كَذَّبُواْ
kadhabu
denied
بِـَٔايَٰتِنَا
biayatina
Our Signs
سَنَسۡتَدۡرِجُهُم
sanastadrijuhum
We will gradually lead them
مِّنۡ
min
from
حَيۡثُ
haythu
where
لَا
la
not
يَعۡلَمُونَ
ya'lamuna
they know
١٨٢
7:183
وَأُمۡلِي
wa-um'li
And I will give respite
لَهُمۡۚ
lahum
to them
إِنَّ
inna
Indeed
كَيۡدِي
kaydi
My plan
مَتِينٌ
matinun
(is) firm
١٨٣
7:184
أَوَلَمۡ
awalam
Do not
يَتَفَكَّرُواْۗ
yatafakkaru
they reflect
مَا
ma
Not
بِصَاحِبِهِم
bisahibihim
in their companion
مِّن
min
[of]
جِنَّةٍۚ
jinnatin
(is) any madness
إِنۡ
in
Not
هُوَ
huwa
he
إِلَّا
illa
(is) but
نَذِيرٞ
nadhirun
a warner
مُّبِينٌ
mubinun
clear
١٨٤
7:185
أَوَلَمۡ
awalam
Do not
يَنظُرُواْ
yanzuru
they look
فِي
fi
in
مَلَكُوتِ
malakuti
(the) dominion
ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ
al-samawati
(of) the heavens
وَٱلۡأَرۡضِ
wal-ardi
and the earth
وَمَا
wama
and what
خَلَقَ
khalaqa
has (been) created
ٱللَّهُ
al-lahu
(by) Allah
مِن
min
of
شَيۡءٖ
shayin
(every)thing
وَأَنۡ
wa-an
and that
عَسَىٰٓ
asa
perhaps
أَن
an
[that]
يَكُونَ
yakuna
has
قَدِ
qadi
verily
ٱقۡتَرَبَ
iq'taraba
come near
أَجَلُهُمۡۖ
ajaluhum
their term
فَبِأَيِّ
fabi-ayyi
So in what
حَدِيثِۭ
hadithin
statement
بَعۡدَهُۥ
ba'dahu
after this
يُؤۡمِنُونَ
yu'minuna
will they believe
١٨٥
7:186
مَن
man
Whoever
يُضۡلِلِ
yud'lili
(is) let go astray
ٱللَّهُ
al-lahu
(by) Allah
فَلَا
fala
then (there is) no
هَادِيَ
hadiya
guide
لَهُۥۚ
lahu
for him
وَيَذَرُهُمۡ
wayadharuhum
And He leaves them
فِي
fi
in
طُغۡيَٰنِهِمۡ
tugh'yanihim
their transgression
يَعۡمَهُونَ
ya'mahuna
wandering blindly
١٨٦
7:187
يَسۡـَٔلُونَكَ
yasalunaka
They ask you
عَنِ
ani
about
ٱلسَّاعَةِ
al-sa'ati
the Hour
أَيَّانَ
ayyana
when will be
مُرۡسَىٰهَاۖ
mur'saha
its appointed time
قُلۡ
qul
Say
إِنَّمَا
innama
Only
عِلۡمُهَا
il'muha
its knowledge
عِندَ
inda
(is) with
رَبِّيۖ
rabbi
my Lord
لَا
la
no (one)
يُجَلِّيهَا
yujalliha
can reveal [it]
لِوَقۡتِهَآ
liwaqtiha
its time
إِلَّا
illa
except
هُوَۚ
huwa
Him
ثَقُلَتۡ
thaqulat
It lays heavily
فِي
fi
in
ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ
al-samawati
the heavens
وَٱلۡأَرۡضِۚ
wal-ardi
and the earth
لَا
la
Not
تَأۡتِيكُمۡ
tatikum
will it come to you
إِلَّا
illa
but
بَغۡتَةٗۗ
baghtatan
suddenly
يَسۡـَٔلُونَكَ
yasalunaka
They ask you
كَأَنَّكَ
ka-annaka
as if you
حَفِيٌّ
hafiyyun
(were) well informed
عَنۡهَاۖ
anha
about it
قُلۡ
qul
Say
إِنَّمَا
innama
Only
عِلۡمُهَا
il'muha
its knowledge
عِندَ
inda
(is) with
ٱللَّهِ
al-lahi
Allah
وَلَٰكِنَّ
walakinna
but
أَكۡثَرَ
akthara
most
ٱلنَّاسِ
al-nasi
(of) the people
لَا
la
(do) not
يَعۡلَمُونَ
ya'lamuna
know

قُل
qul
Say
لَّآ
la
Not
أَمۡلِكُ
amliku
I have power
لِنَفۡسِي
linafsi
for myself
نَفۡعٗا
naf 'an
(to) benefit
وَلَا
wala
and no
ضَرًّا
darran
(power to) harm
إِلَّا
illa
except
مَا
ma
what
شَآءَ
shaa
wills
ٱللَّهُۚ
al-lahu
Allah
وَلَوۡ
walaw
And if
كُنتُ
kuntu
I would
أَعۡلَمُ
a'lamu
know
ٱلۡغَيۡبَ
al-ghayba
(of) the unseen
لَٱسۡتَكۡثَرۡتُ
la-is'takthartu
surely I could have multiplied
مِنَ
mina
of
ٱلۡخَيۡرِ
al-khayri
the good
وَمَا
wama
and not
مَسَّنِيَ
massaniya
(could) have touched me
ٱلسُّوٓءُۚ
al-suu
the evil
إِنۡ
in
Not
أَنَا۠
ana
(am) I
إِلَّا
illa
except
نَذِيرٞ
nadhirun
a warner
وَبَشِيرٞ
wabashirun
and a bearer of good tidings
لِّقَوۡمٖ
liqawmin
to a people
يُؤۡمِنُونَ
yu'minuna
who believe
١٨٨
