One of the 240 subdivisions of the Quran (quarter of a Hizb)

2:92

۞وَلَقَدۡ

Wa-laq̣ad

And indeed

جَآءَكُم

jaaaʹakum

came to you

مُّوسَىٰ

Moosaa

Musa

بِٱلۡبَيِّنَٰتِ

bil-Bayyinaati

with [the] clear signs

ثُمَّ

s̤ummat

then

ٱتَّخَذۡتُمُ

takhaẓtumul

you took

ٱلۡعِجۡلَ

ʻijla

the calf

مِنۢ

mim

from

بَعۡدِهِۦ

baʻdihee

after him

وَأَنتُمۡ

wa-ʹañtum

and you

ظَٰلِمُونَ

z̤̣aalimoon.

(were) wrongdoers

٩٢

2:93

وَإِذۡ

Wa-ʹiẓ

And when

أَخَذۡنَا

ʹakhaẓnaa

We took

مِيثَٰقَكُمۡ

Mees̤aaq̣akum

your covenant

وَرَفَعۡنَا

wa-rafaʻnaa

and We raised

فَوۡقَكُمُ

fawq̣akumuṭ

over you

ٱلطُّورَ

Ṭoor:

the mount

خُذُواْ

khuẓoo

Hold

مَآ

maaa

what

ءَاتَيۡنَٰكُم

ʹaataynaakum̃

We gave you

بِقُوَّةٖ

biq̣uwwatiñw

with firmness

وَٱسۡمَعُواْۖ

wasmaʻoo.

and listen

قَالُواْ

Q̣aaloo

They said

سَمِعۡنَا

samiʻnaa

We heard

وَعَصَيۡنَا

wa-ʻaṣaynaa:

and we disobeyed

وَأُشۡرِبُواْ

wa-ʹushriboo

And they were made to drink

فِي

fee

قُلُوبِهِمُ

q̣uloobihimul

their hearts

ٱلۡعِجۡلَ

ʻijla

(love of) the calf

بِكُفۡرِهِمۡۚ

bikufrihim.

because of their disbelief

قُلۡ

Q̣ul

Say

بِئۡسَمَا

biʹsamaa

Evil (is) that

يَأۡمُرُكُم

yaʹmurukum̃

orders you (to do) it

بِهِۦٓ

biheee

with

إِيمَٰنُكُمۡ

ʹeemaanukum

your faith

إِن

ʹiñ

كُنتُم

kuñtum

you are

مُّؤۡمِنِينَ

muʹmineen.

believers

٩٣

2:94

قُلۡ

Q̣ul

Say

إِن

ʹiñ

كَانَتۡ

kaanat

لَكُمُ

lakumud

for you

ٱلدَّارُ

Daarul

the home

ٱلۡأٓخِرَةُ

ʹAakhiratu

(of) the Hereafter

عِندَ

ʻiñdal

with

ٱللَّهِ

laahi

Allah

خَالِصَةٗ

khaaliṣatam

exclusively

مِّن

min

from

دُونِ

doonin

excluding

ٱلنَّاسِ

naasi

the mankind

فَتَمَنَّوُاْ

fatamannawul

then wish

ٱلۡمَوۡتَ

mawta

(for) [the] death

إِن

ʹiñ

كُنتُمۡ

kuñtum

you are

صَٰدِقِينَ

ṣaadiq̣een.

truthful

٩٤

2:95

وَلَن

Wa-lañy

And never (will)

يَتَمَنَّوۡهُ

yatamannawhu

they wish for it

أَبَدَۢا

ʹabadam

ever

بِمَا

bimaa

because

قَدَّمَتۡ

q̣addamat

(of what) sent ahead

أَيۡدِيهِمۡۚ

ʹaydeehim.

their hands

وَٱللَّهُ

Wallaahu

And Allah

عَلِيمُۢ

ʻAleemum̃

(is) All-Knower

بِٱلظَّٰلِمِينَ

biz̤̣z̤̣aalimeen.

of the wrongdoers

٩٥

2:96

وَلَتَجِدَنَّهُمۡ

Wa-latajidannahum

And surely you will find them

أَحۡرَصَ

ʹaḥraṣan

(the) most greedy

ٱلنَّاسِ

naasi

(of) [the] mankind

عَلَىٰ

ʻalaa

for

حَيَوٰةٖ

ḥayaah.

life

وَمِنَ

Wa-minal

and (greedier) than

ٱلَّذِينَ

laẓeena

those who

أَشۡرَكُواْۚ

ʹashrakoo

associate[d] partners (with Allah)

يَوَدُّ

yawaddu

Loves

أَحَدُهُمۡ

ʹaḥaduhum

(each) one of them

لَوۡ

law

يُعَمَّرُ

yuʻammaru

he could be granted a life

أَلۡفَ

ʹalfa

(of) a thousand

سَنَةٖ

sanah:

year(s)

وَمَا

wa-maa

But not

هُوَ

huwa

بِمُزَحۡزِحِهِۦ

bi-muzaḥziḥihee

(will) remove him

مِنَ

minal

from

ٱلۡعَذَابِ

ʻaẓaabi

the punishment

أَن

ʹañy

that

يُعَمَّرَۗ

yuʻammar.

he should be granted life

وَٱللَّهُ

Wallaahu

And Allah

بَصِيرُۢ

Baseerum

(is) All-Seer

بِمَا

bimaa

of what

يَعۡمَلُونَ

yaʻmaloon.

they do

٩٦

2:97

قُلۡ

Q̣ul

Say

مَن

mañ

Whoever

كَانَ

kaana

عَدُوّٗا

ʻaduwwal

an enemy

لِّـجِبۡرِيلَ

li-Jibreela

to Jibreel

فَإِنَّهُۥ

faʹinnahoo

then indeed he

نَزَّلَهُۥ

nazzalahoo

brought it down

عَلَىٰ

ʻalaa

قَلۡبِكَ

q̣albika

your heart

بِإِذۡنِ

biʹiẓnil

by (the) permission

ٱللَّهِ

laahi

(of) Allah

مُصَدِّقٗا

muṣaddiq̣al

confirming

لِّمَا

limaa

what

بَيۡنَ

bayna

(was)

يَدَيۡهِ

yadayhi

before it

وَهُدٗى

wa-hudañw

and a guidance

وَبُشۡرَىٰ

wa- bushraa

and glad tiding(s)

لِلۡمُؤۡمِنِينَ

lil-Muʹmineen,

for the believers

٩٧

2:98

مَن

Mañ

Whoever

كَانَ

kaana

عَدُوّٗا

ʻaduwwal

an enemy

لِّلَّهِ

lillaahi

(to) Allah

وَمَلَٰٓئِكَتِهِۦ

wa-malaaaʹikatihee

and His Angels

وَرُسُلِهِۦ

wa-rusulihi

and His Messengers

وَجِبۡرِيلَ

wa-Jibreela

and Jibreel

وَمِيكَىٰلَ

wa-Meekaala

and Meekael

فَإِنَّ

faʹinnal

then indeed

ٱللَّهَ

laaha

Allah

عَدُوّٞ

ʻaduwwul

(is) an enemy

لِّلۡكَٰفِرِينَ

lilkaafireen.

to the disbelievers

٩٨

2:99

وَلَقَدۡ

Wa-laq̣ad

And indeed

أَنزَلۡنَآ

ʹañzalnaaa

We revealed

إِلَيۡكَ

ʹilayka

to you

ءَايَٰتِۭ

ʹAayaatim

Verses

بَيِّنَٰتٖۖ

bayyinaat;

clear

وَمَا

wa-maa

and not

يَكۡفُرُ

yakfuru

disbelieves

بِهَآ

bihaaa

in them

إِلَّا

ʹillal

except

ٱلۡفَٰسِقُونَ

faasiq̣oon.

the defiantly disobedient

٩٩

2:100

أَوَكُلَّمَا

ʹAwa-kullamaa

And is (it not that) whenever

عَٰهَدُواْ

ʻaahadoo

they took

عَهۡدٗا

ʻahdan

a covenant

نَّبَذَهُۥ

nabaẓahoo

threw it away

فَرِيقٞ

fareeq̣um

a party

مِّنۡهُمۚ

minhum?

of them

بَلۡ

Bal

Nay

أَكۡثَرُهُمۡ

ʹaks̤aruhum

most of them

لَا

laa-

(do) not

يُؤۡمِنُونَ

yuʹminoon.

believe

2:101

وَلَمَّا

Wa-lammaa

And when

جَآءَهُمۡ

jaaaʹahum

came to them

رَسُولٞ

Rasoolum

a Messenger

مِّنۡ

min

(of)

عِندِ

ʻiñdil

from

ٱللَّهِ

laahi

Allah

مُصَدِّقٞ

muṣaddiq̣ul

confirming

لِّمَا

limaa

what

مَعَهُمۡ

maʻahum

(was) with them

نَبَذَ

nabaẓa

threw away

فَرِيقٞ

fareeq̣um

a party

مِّنَ

minal

ٱلَّذِينَ

laẓeena

those who

أُوتُواْ

ʹootul

were given

ٱلۡكِتَٰبَ

Kitaaba

the Book

كِتَٰبَ

Kitaabal

(the) Book

ٱللَّهِ

laahi

(of) Allah

وَرَآءَ

waraaaʹa

behind

ظُهُورِهِمۡ

z̤̣uhoorihim

their backs

كَأَنَّهُمۡ

kaʹannahum

as if they

لَا

laa-

(do) not

يَعۡلَمُونَ

yaʻlamoon!

know

2:102

وَٱتَّبَعُواْ

Wattabaʻoo

And they followed

مَا

maa-

what

تَتۡلُواْ

tatlush

recite(d)

ٱلشَّيَٰطِينُ

shayaaṭeenu

the devils

عَلَىٰ

ʻalaa

over

مُلۡكِ

mulki

(the) kingdom

سُلَيۡمَٰنَۖ

Sulaymaan.

(of) Sulaiman

وَمَا

Wa-maa

And not

كَفَرَ

kafara

disbelieved

سُلَيۡمَٰنُ

Sulaymaanu

Sulaiman

وَلَٰكِنَّ

wa-laakinnash

[and] but

ٱلشَّيَٰطِينَ

shayaaṭeena

the devils

كَفَرُواْ

kafaroo

disbelieved

يُعَلِّمُونَ

yuʻal-limoonan

they teach

ٱلنَّاسَ

naasas

the people

ٱلسِّحۡرَ

siḥr,

[the] magic

وَمَآ

wa-maaa

and what

أُنزِلَ

ʹuñzila

was sent down

عَلَى

ʻalal

ٱلۡمَلَكَيۡنِ

malakayni

the two angels

بِبَابِلَ

bi-Baabila

in Babylon

هَٰرُوتَ

Haaroota

Harut

وَمَٰرُوتَۚ

wa-Maaroot.

and Marut

وَمَا

Wa-maa

And not

يُعَلِّمَانِ

yuʻallimaani

they both teach

مِنۡ

min

any

أَحَدٍ

ʹaḥadin

one

حَتَّىٰ

ḥattaa

unless

يَقُولَآ

yaq̣oolaaa

they [both] say

إِنَّمَا

ʹinnamaa

Only

نَحۡنُ

naḥnu

فِتۡنَةٞ

fitnatuñ

(are) a trial

فَلَا

falaa

so (do) not

تَكۡفُرۡۖ

takfur.

disbelieve

فَيَتَعَلَّمُونَ

Fayataʻal-lamoona

But they learn

مِنۡهُمَا

minhumaa -

from those two

مَا

maa

what

يُفَرِّقُونَ

yufarriq̣oona

[they] causes separation

بِهِۦ

Bihee

with it

بَيۡنَ

baynal

between

ٱلۡمَرۡءِ

marʹi

the man

وَزَوۡجِهِۦۚ

wa-zawjih.

and his spouse

وَمَا

Wa-maa

And not

هُم

hum̃

they (could)

بِضَآرِّينَ

biḍaaarreena

at all [be those who] harm

بِهِۦ

bihee

with it

مِنۡ

min

any

أَحَدٍ

ʹaḥadin

one

إِلَّا

ʹillaa

except

بِإِذۡنِ

biʹiẓnil

by permission

ٱللَّهِۚ

laah.

(of) Allah

وَيَتَعَلَّمُونَ

Wa-yataʻallamoona

And they learn

مَا

maa-

what

يَضُرُّهُمۡ

yaẓurruhum

harms them

وَلَا

wa-laa

and not

يَنفَعُهُمۡۚ

yañfaʻuhum.

profits them

وَلَقَدۡ

Wa-laq̣ad

And indeed

عَلِمُواْ

ʻalimoo

they knew

لَمَنِ

lamanish

that whoever

ٱشۡتَرَىٰهُ

taraahu

buys it

مَا

maa-

not

لَهُۥ

lahoo

for him

فِي

fil

ٱلۡأٓخِرَةِ

ʹAakhirati

the Hereafter

مِنۡ

min

any

خَلَٰقٖۚ

khalaaq̣.

وَلَبِئۡسَ

Wa-labiʹsa

And surely evil

مَا

maa-

(is) what

شَرَوۡاْ

sharaw

they sold

بِهِۦٓ

biheee

with it

أَنفُسَهُمۡۚ

ʹañfusahum,

themselves

لَوۡ

law

كَانُواْ

kaanoo

they were

يَعۡلَمُونَ

yaʻlamoon.

(to) know

١٠٢

2:103

وَلَوۡ

Wa-law

And if

أَنَّهُمۡ

ʹannahum

[that] they

ءَامَنُواْ

ʹaamanoo

(had) believed

وَٱتَّقَوۡاْ

wattaq̣aw

and feared (Allah)

لَمَثُوبَةٞ

lamas̤oobatum

surely (the) reward

مِّنۡ

min

(of)

عِندِ

ʻiñdil

from

ٱللَّهِ

laahi

Allah

خَيۡرٞۚ

khayr:

(would have been) better

لَّوۡ

law

كَانُواْ

kaanoo

they were

يَعۡلَمُونَ

yaʻlamoon.

(to) know

١٠٣

2:104

يَٰٓأَيُّهَا

Yaaaʹayyuhal

O you

ٱلَّذِينَ

lazeena

who

ءَامَنُواْ

ʹaamanoo

believe[d]

لَا

laa-

(Do) not

تَقُولُواْ

taq̣ooloo

say

رَٰعِنَا

raaʻinaa

Raina

وَقُولُواْ

wa-q̣ooluñ

and say

ٱنظُرۡنَا

z̤̣urnaa

Unzurna

وَٱسۡمَعُواْۗ

wasmaʻoo.

and listen

وَلِلۡكَٰفِرِينَ

Wa-lil-Kaafireena

And for the disbelievers

عَذَابٌ

ʻaẓaabun

(is) a punishment

أَلِيمٞ

ʹaleem.

painful

١٠٤

2:105

مَّا

Maa-

(Do) not

يَوَدُّ

yawaddul

ٱلَّذِينَ

laẓeena

those who

كَفَرُواْ

kafaroo

disbelieve

مِنۡ

min

from

أَهۡلِ

ʹAhlil

(the) People

ٱلۡكِتَٰبِ

Kitaabi

(of) the Book

وَلَا

wa-lal

and not

ٱلۡمُشۡرِكِينَ

Mushrikeena

those who associate partners (with Allah)

أَن

ʹañy

that

يُنَزَّلَ

yunazzala

(there should) be sent down

عَلَيۡكُم

ʻalaykum

to you

مِّنۡ

min

any

خَيۡرٖ

khayrim

good

مِّن

mir

from

رَّبِّكُمۡۚ

Rabbikum.

your Lord

وَٱللَّهُ

Wallaahu

And Allah

يَخۡتَصُّ

yakhtaṣṣu

chooses

بِرَحۡمَتِهِۦ

biraḥmatihee

for His Mercy

مَن

mañy

whom

يَشَآءُۚ

yashaaaʹ:

He wills

وَٱللَّهُ

Wallaahu

And Allah

ذُو

Ẓul

(is the) Possessor

ٱلۡفَضۡلِ

Faḍlil

(of) [the] Bounty

ٱلۡعَظِيمِ

ʹaz̤̣eem.

[the] Great

١٠٥

2:102

وَٱتَّبَعُواْ

Wattabaʻoo

And they followed

مَا

maa-

what

تَتۡلُواْ

tatlush

recite(d)

ٱلشَّيَٰطِينُ

shayaaṭeenu

the devils

عَلَىٰ

ʻalaa

over

مُلۡكِ

mulki

(the) kingdom

سُلَيۡمَٰنَۖ

Sulaymaan.

(of) Sulaiman

وَمَا

Wa-maa

And not

كَفَرَ

kafara

disbelieved

سُلَيۡمَٰنُ

Sulaymaanu

Sulaiman

وَلَٰكِنَّ

wa-laakinnash

[and] but

ٱلشَّيَٰطِينَ

shayaaṭeena

the devils

كَفَرُواْ

kafaroo

disbelieved

يُعَلِّمُونَ

yuʻal-limoonan

they teach

ٱلنَّاسَ

naasas

the people

ٱلسِّحۡرَ

siḥr,

[the] magic

وَمَآ

wa-maaa

and what

أُنزِلَ

ʹuñzila

was sent down

عَلَى

ʻalal

ٱلۡمَلَكَيۡنِ

malakayni

the two angels

بِبَابِلَ

bi-Baabila

in Babylon

هَٰرُوتَ

Haaroota

Harut

وَمَٰرُوتَۚ

wa-Maaroot.

and Marut

وَمَا

Wa-maa

And not

يُعَلِّمَانِ

yuʻallimaani

they both teach

مِنۡ

min

any

أَحَدٍ

ʹaḥadin

one

حَتَّىٰ

ḥattaa

unless

يَقُولَآ

yaq̣oolaaa

they [both] say

إِنَّمَا

ʹinnamaa

Only

نَحۡنُ

naḥnu

فِتۡنَةٞ

fitnatuñ

(are) a trial

فَلَا

falaa

so (do) not

تَكۡفُرۡۖ

takfur.

disbelieve

فَيَتَعَلَّمُونَ

Fayataʻal-lamoona

But they learn

مِنۡهُمَا

minhumaa -

from those two

مَا

maa

what

يُفَرِّقُونَ

yufarriq̣oona

بِهِۦ

Bihee

with it

بَيۡنَ

baynal

between

ٱلۡمَرۡءِ

marʹi

the man

وَزَوۡجِهِۦۚ

yañfaʻuhum.

profits them

وَلَقَدۡ

Wa-laq̣ad

And indeed

عَلِمُواْ

ʻalimoo

they knew

لَمَنِ

lamanish

that whoever

ٱشۡتَرَىٰهُ

taraahu

buys it

مَا

maa-

not

لَهُۥ

lahoo

for him

فِي

fil

ٱلۡأٓخِرَةِ

ʹAakhirati

the Hereafter

مِنۡ

min

any

خَلَٰقٖۚ

khalaaq̣.

وَلَبِئۡسَ

Wa-labiʹsa

And surely evil

مَا

maa-

(is) what

شَرَوۡاْ

sharaw

they sold

بِهِۦٓ

biheee

with it

أَنفُسَهُمۡۚ

ʹañfusahum,

themselves

لَوۡ

law

كَانُواْ

kaanoo

they were

يَعۡلَمُونَ

yaʻlamoon.

(to) know
