2:75

۞أَفَتَطۡمَعُونَ

ʹAfataṭmaʻoona

Do you hope

أَن

ʹañy

that

يُؤۡمِنُواْ

yuʹminoo

they will believe

لَكُمۡ

lakum

[for] you

وَقَدۡ

wa-q̣ad

while indeed

كَانَ

kaana

(there) has been

فَرِيقٞ

fareeq̣um

a party

مِّنۡهُمۡ

minhum

of them

يَسۡمَعُونَ

yasmaʻoona

(who used to) hear

كَلَٰمَ

Kalaamal

(the) words

ٱللَّهِ

laahi

(of) Allah

ثُمَّ

s̤umma

then

يُحَرِّفُونَهُۥ

yuḥarri-foonahoo

they distort it

مِنۢ

mim

from

بَعۡدِ

baʻdi

after

مَا

maa-

[what]

عَقَلُوهُ

ʻaq̣aloohu

they understood it

وَهُمۡ

wa-hum

while they

يَعۡلَمُونَ

yaʻlamoon?

know

٧٥

2:76

وَإِذَا

wa-ʹiẓaa

And when

لَقُواْ

laq̣ul

they meet

ٱلَّذِينَ

laẓeena

those who

ءَامَنُواْ

ʹaamanoo

believe[d]

قَالُوٓاْ

q̣aalooo

they say

ءَامَنَّا

ʹaamannaa:

We have believed

وَإِذَا

wa-ʹiẓaa

But when

خَلَا

khalaa

meet in private

بَعۡضُهُمۡ

baʻḍuhum

some of them

إِلَىٰ

ʹilaa

with

بَعۡضٖ

baʻḍiñ

some (others)

قَالُوٓاْ

q̣aal ooo

they say

أَتُحَدِّثُونَهُم

ʹatuḥaddis̤oonahum

Do you tell them

بِمَا

bimaa

what

فَتَحَ

fataḥal

has

ٱللَّهُ

laahu

Allah

عَلَيۡكُمۡ

ʻalaykum

to you

لِيُحَآجُّوكُم

liyuḥaaajjookum̃

so that they argue with you

بِهِۦ

bihee

therewith

عِندَ

ʻiñda

before

رَبِّكُمۡۚ

Rabbikum?

your Lord

أَفَلَا

ʹAfalaa

Then do (you) not

تَعۡقِلُونَ

taʻq̣iloon?

understand

٧٦

2:77

أَوَلَا

ʹAwalaa

Do not

يَعۡلَمُونَ

yaʻlamoona

they know

أَنَّ

ʹannal

that

ٱللَّهَ

laaha

Allah

يَعۡلَمُ

yaʻlamu

knows

مَا

maa-

what

يُسِرُّونَ

yusirroona

they conceal

وَمَا

wa-maa

and what

يُعۡلِنُونَ

yuʻlinoon?

they declare

٧٧

2:78

وَمِنۡهُمۡ

Wa-minhum

And among them

أُمِّيُّونَ

ʹUmmiyyoona

(are) unlettered ones

لَا

laa-

(who) do not

يَعۡلَمُونَ

yaʻlamoonal

know

ٱلۡكِتَٰبَ

Kitaaba

the book

إِلَّآ

ʹillaaa

except

أَمَانِيَّ

ʹamaaniyya

wishful thinking

وَإِنۡ

wa-ʹin

and not

هُمۡ

hum

they

إِلَّا

ʹillaa

(do anything) except

يَظُنُّونَ

yaz̤̣unnoon.

2:79

فَوَيۡلٞ

Fawaylul

So woe

لِّلَّذِينَ

lillaẓeena

to those who

يَكۡتُبُونَ

yaktuboonal

write

ٱلۡكِتَٰبَ

Kitaaba

the book

بِأَيۡدِيهِمۡ

biʹaydeehim

with their (own) hands

ثُمَّ

s̤umma

then

يَقُولُونَ

yaq̣ooloona

they say

هَٰذَا

haaẓaa

This

مِنۡ

min

(is)

عِندِ

ʻiñdil

from

ٱللَّهِ

laahi

Allah

لِيَشۡتَرُواْ

liyashtaroo

to barter

بِهِۦ

bihee

with it

ثَمَنٗا

s̤amanañ

(for) a price

قَلِيلٗاۖ

q̣aleelaa!

little

فَوَيۡلٞ

Fawaylul

So woe

لَّهُم

lahum

to them

مِّمَّا

mimmaa

for what

كَتَبَتۡ

katabat

have written

أَيۡدِيهِمۡ

ʹaydeehim

their hands

وَوَيۡلٞ

wa-waylul

and woe

لَّهُم

lahum

to them

مِّمَّا

mimmaa

for what

يَكۡسِبُونَ

yaksiboon!

they earn

٧٩

2:80

وَقَالُواْ

Wa-q̣aaloo

And they say

لَن

lañ

Never

تَمَسَّنَا

tamassanan

will touch us

ٱلنَّارُ

Naaru

the Fire

إِلَّآ

ʹillaaa

except

أَيَّامٗا

ʹayyaamam

(for) days

مَّعۡدُودَةٗۚ

maʻdoodah.

قُلۡ

Q̣ul

Say

أَتَّخَذۡتُمۡ

ʹattakhaẓtum

Have you taken

عِندَ

ʻiñdal

from

ٱللَّهِ

laahi

Allah

عَهۡدٗا

ʻahdañ

a covenant

فَلَن

falañy

so never

يُخۡلِفَ

yukhlifal

will break

ٱللَّهُ

laahu

Allah

عَهۡدَهُۥٓۖ

ʻahdahooo

His Covenant

أَمۡ

ʹam

تَقُولُونَ

taq̣ooloona

(do) you say

عَلَى

ʻalal

against

ٱللَّهِ

laahi

Allah

مَا

maa

what

لَا

laa-

not

تَعۡلَمُونَ

taʻlamoon?

you know

٨٠

2:81

بَلَىٰۚ

Balaa

Yes

مَن

mañ

whoever

كَسَبَ

kasaba

earned

سَيِّئَةٗ

sayyiʹatañw

evil

وَأَحَٰطَتۡ

waʹaḥaṭat

and surrounded him

بِهِۦ

bihee

with

خَطِيٓـَٔتُهُۥ

khaṭeeeʹatuhoo

his sins

فَأُوْلَٰٓئِكَ

faʹulaaaʹika

[so] those

أَصۡحَٰبُ

ʹAṣḥaabun

(are the) companions

ٱلنَّارِۖ

Naar:

(of) the Fire

هُمۡ

hum

they

فِيهَا

feehaa

in it

خَٰلِدُونَ

khaalidoon.

(will) abide forever

٨١

2:82

وَٱلَّذِينَ

Wallaẓeena

And those who

ءَامَنُواْ

ʹaamanoo

believed

وَعَمِلُواْ

wa-ʻamiluṣ

and did

ٱلصَّٰلِحَٰتِ

ṣaaliḥaati

righteous deeds

أُوْلَٰٓئِكَ

ʹulaaaʹika

those

أَصۡحَٰبُ

ʹAṣḥaabul

(are the) companions

ٱلۡجَنَّةِۖ

Jannah:

(of) Paradise

هُمۡ

hum

they

فِيهَا

feehaa

in it

خَٰلِدُونَ

khaalidoon.

(will) abide forever

٨٢

2:83

وَإِذۡ

Wa-ʹiẓ

And when

أَخَذۡنَا

ʹakhaẓnaa

We took

مِيثَٰقَ

Mees̤aaq̣a

(the) covenant

بَنِيٓ

Baneee

(from the) Children

إِسۡرَٰٓءِيلَ

ʹIsraaaʹeela

(of) Israel

لَا

laa-

Not

تَعۡبُدُونَ

taʻbudoona

you will worship

إِلَّا

ʹillal

except

ٱللَّهَ

laaha

Allah

وَبِٱلۡوَٰلِدَيۡنِ

wa-bilwaalidayni

and with [the] parents

إِحۡسَانٗا

ʹiḥsaanañw

(be) good

وَذِي

waẓil

and (with)

ٱلۡقُرۡبَىٰ

q̣urbaa

relatives

وَٱلۡيَتَٰمَىٰ

walyataamaa

and [the] orphans

وَٱلۡمَسَٰكِينِ

walmasaakeeni

and the needy

وَقُولُواْ

wa-q̣ooloo

and speak

لِلنَّاسِ

linnasi

to [the] people

حُسۡنٗا

ḥusnañw

good

وَأَقِيمُواْ

waʹaq̣eemuṣ

and establish

ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ

Ṣalaata

the prayer

وَءَاتُواْ

wa-ʹaatuz

and give

ٱلزَّكَوٰةَ

Zakaah.

the zakah

ثُمَّ

Ṣumma

Then

تَوَلَّيۡتُمۡ

tawallaytum

you turned away

إِلَّا

ʹillaa

except

قَلِيلٗا

q̣aleelam

a few

مِّنكُمۡ

miñkum

of you

وَأَنتُم

wa-ʹañtum

and you (were)

مُّعۡرِضُونَ

muʻriḍoon.

refusing

2:84

وَإِذۡ

Wa-ʹiẓ

And when

أَخَذۡنَا

ʹakhaẓnaa

We took

مِيثَٰقَكُمۡ

Mees̤aa-q̣akum

your covenant

لَا

laa-

Not

تَسۡفِكُونَ

tasfikoona

will you shed

دِمَآءَكُمۡ

dimaaaʹakum

your blood

وَلَا

wa-laa

and not

تُخۡرِجُونَ

tukhrijoona

(will) evict

أَنفُسَكُم

ʹañfusakum

yourselves

مِّن

miñ

from

دِيَٰرِكُمۡ

diyaarikum

your homes

ثُمَّ

s̤umma

then

أَقۡرَرۡتُمۡ

ʹaq̣rartum

you ratified

وَأَنتُمۡ

wa-ʹañtum

while you

تَشۡهَدُونَ

tashhadoon.

(were) witnessing

٨٤

2:85

ثُمَّ

S̤umma

Then

أَنتُمۡ

ʹañtum

you

هَٰٓؤُلَآءِ

haaaʹulaaaʹi

(are) those

تَقۡتُلُونَ

taq̣tuloona

(who) kill

أَنفُسَكُمۡ

ʹañfusakum

yourselves

وَتُخۡرِجُونَ

wa-tukhrijoona

and evict

فَرِيقٗا

fareeq̣am

a party

مِّنكُم

miñkum

of you

مِّن

miñ

from

دِيَٰرِهِمۡ

diyaarihim;

their homes

تَظَٰهَرُونَ

taz̤̣aaharoona

you support one another

عَلَيۡهِم

ʻalayhim̃

against them

بِٱلۡإِثۡمِ

bil-ʹis̤mi

in sin

وَٱلۡعُدۡوَٰنِ

walʻudwaan;

and [the] transgression

وَإِن

wa-ʹiñy

And if

يَأۡتُوكُمۡ

yaʹtookum

they come to you

أُسَٰرَىٰ

ʹusaaraa

(as) captives

تُفَٰدُوهُمۡ

tufaadoohum

you ransom them

وَهُوَ

wa-huwa

while it

مُحَرَّمٌ

muḥarramun

(was) forbidden

عَلَيۡكُمۡ

ʻalaykum

to you

إِخۡرَاجُهُمۡۚ

ʹikhraajuhum.

their eviction

أَفَتُؤۡمِنُونَ

ʹAfatuʹminoona

So do you believe

بِبَعۡضِ

bibaʻḍil

in part (of)

ٱلۡكِتَٰبِ

Kitaabi

the Book

وَتَكۡفُرُونَ

wa-takfuroona

and disbelieve

بِبَعۡضٖۚ

bibaʻḍ?

in part

فَمَا

Famaa

Then what

جَزَآءُ

jazaaaʹu

(should be the) recompense

مَن

mañy

(for the one) who

يَفۡعَلُ

yafʻalu

does

ذَٰلِكَ

ẓaalika

that

مِنكُمۡ

miñkum

among you

إِلَّا

ʹillaa

except

خِزۡيٞ

khizyuñ

disgrace

فِي

fil

ٱلۡحَيَوٰةِ

ḥayaatid

the life

ٱلدُّنۡيَاۖ

dunyaa?

(of) the world

وَيَوۡمَ

Wa-Yawmal

and (on the) Day

ٱلۡقِيَٰمَةِ

Q̣iyaamati

of [the] Resurrection

يُرَدُّونَ

yuraddoona

they will be sent back

إِلَىٰٓ

ʹilaaa

أَشَدِّ

ʹashaddil

(the) most severe

ٱلۡعَذَابِۗ

ʻaẓaab.

punishment

وَمَا

Wa-mal

And not

ٱللَّهُ

laahu

(is) Allah

بِغَٰفِلٍ

big̣aafilin

unaware

عَمَّا

ʻammaa

of what

تَعۡمَلُونَ

taʻmaloon.

you do

٨٥

2:86

أُوْلَٰٓئِكَ

ʹUlaaaʹikal

Those

ٱلَّذِينَ

laẓeenash

(are) the ones who

ٱشۡتَرَوُاْ

tarawul

bought

ٱلۡحَيَوٰةَ

ḥayaatad

the life

ٱلدُّنۡيَا

Dunyaa

(of) the world

بِٱلۡأٓخِرَةِۖ

bil-ʹAakhirati

for the Hereafter

فَلَا

falaa

so not

يُخَفَّفُ

yukhaffafu

will be lightened

عَنۡهُمُ

ʻanhumul

for them

ٱلۡعَذَابُ

ʻaẓaabu

the punishment

وَلَا

wa-laa

and not

هُمۡ

hum

they

يُنصَرُونَ

yuñṣaroon.

will be helped

٨٦

2:87

وَلَقَدۡ

Wa-laq̣ad

And indeed

ءَاتَيۡنَا

ʹaataynaa

We gave

مُوسَى

Moosal

Musa

ٱلۡكِتَٰبَ

Kitaaba

the Book

وَقَفَّيۡنَا

wa-q̣affaynaa

and We followed up

مِنۢ

mim

from

بَعۡدِهِۦ

baʻdihee

after him

بِٱلرُّسُلِۖ

bir-rusuli

with [the] Messengers

وَءَاتَيۡنَا

wa-ʹaataynaa

And We gave

عِيسَى

ʻeesab

Isa

ٱبۡنَ

(the) son

مَرۡيَمَ

Maryamal

(of) Maryam

ٱلۡبَيِّنَٰتِ

Bayyinaati

[the] clear signs

وَأَيَّدۡنَٰهُ

wa-ʹayyadnaahu

and We supported him

بِرُوحِ

bi-rooḥil

(with)

ٱلۡقُدُسِۗ

q̣udus.

the Holy Spirit

أَفَكُلَّمَا

ʹAfakullamaa

Is it (not) so (that) whenever

جَآءَكُمۡ

jaaaʹakum

came to you

رَسُولُۢ

Rasoolum̃

a Messenger

بِمَا

bimaa

with what

لَا

laa-

(does) not

تَهۡوَىٰٓ

tahwaaa

desire

أَنفُسُكُمُ

ʹañfusukumus

yourselves

ٱسۡتَكۡبَرۡتُمۡ

takbartum?

you acted arrogantly

فَفَرِيقٗا

Fafareeq̣añ

So a party

كَذَّبۡتُمۡ

kaẓẓabtum

you denied

وَفَرِيقٗا

wa-fareeq̣añ

and a party

تَقۡتُلُونَ

taq̣tuloon?

you kill(ed)

٨٧

2:88

وَقَالُواْ

Wa-q̣aloo

And they said

قُلُوبُنَا

q̣uloobunaa

Our hearts

غُلۡفُۢۚ

g̣ulf;

(are) wrapped

بَل

bal

Nay

لَّعَنَهُمُ

laʻanahumul

has cursed them

ٱللَّهُ

laahu

Allah

بِكُفۡرِهِمۡ

bikufrihim

for their disbelief

فَقَلِيلٗا

faq̣aleelam

so little

مَّا

maa

(is) what

يُؤۡمِنُونَ

yuʹminoon.

they believe

٨٨

2:89

وَلَمَّا

Wa-lammaa

And when

جَآءَهُمۡ

jaaaʹahum

came to them

كِتَٰبٞ

Kitaabum

a Book

مِّنۡ

min

عِندِ

ʻiñdil

from

ٱللَّهِ

laahi

Allah

مُصَدِّقٞ

muṣaddiq̣ul

confirming

لِّمَا

limaa

what (was)

مَعَهُمۡ

maʻahum

with them

وَكَانُواْ

wa-kaanoo

though they used to

مِن

miñ

from

قَبۡلُ

q̣ablu

before

يَسۡتَفۡتِحُونَ

yastaftiḥoona

(that) pray for victory

عَلَى

ʻalal

over

ٱلَّذِينَ

laẓeena

those who

كَفَرُواْ

kafaroo,

disbelieved

فَلَمَّا

falammaa

then when

جَآءَهُم

jaaaʹahum

came to them

مَّا

maa

what

عَرَفُواْ

ʻarafoo

they recognized

كَفَرُواْ

kafaroo

they disbelieved

بِهِۦۚ

bihee

in it

فَلَعۡنَةُ

falaʻnatul

So (the) curse

ٱللَّهِ

laahi

(of) Allah

عَلَى

ʻalal

(is) on

ٱلۡكَٰفِرِينَ

Kaafireen.

the disbelievers

٨٩

2:90

بِئۡسَمَا

Biʹsamash

Evil (is) that

ٱشۡتَرَوۡاْ

taraw

(for) which they have sold

بِهِۦٓ

biheee

with

أَنفُسَهُمۡ

ʹañfusahum

themselves

أَن

ʹañy

that

يَكۡفُرُواْ

yakfuroo

they disbelieve

بِمَآ

bimaaa

in what

أَنزَلَ

ʹañzalal

has revealed

ٱللَّهُ

laahu

Allah

بَغۡيًا

bag̣yan

grudging

أَن

ʹañy

that

يُنَزِّلَ

yunazzilal

sends down

ٱللَّهُ

laahu

Allah

مِن

miñ

فَضۡلِهِۦ

faz̤̣lihee

His Grace

عَلَىٰ

ʻalaa

مَن

mañy

whom

يَشَآءُ

yashaaaʹu

He wills

مِنۡ

min

from

عِبَادِهِۦۖ

ʻibaadih.

His servants

فَبَآءُو

Fabaaaʹoo

So they have drawn (on themselves)

بِغَضَبٍ

big̣aḍabin

wrath

عَلَىٰ

ʻalaa

upon

غَضَبٖۚ

g̣aḍab.

wrath

وَلِلۡكَٰفِرِينَ

Wa-lil-Kaafireena

And for the disbelievers

عَذَابٞ

ʻaẓaabum

(is) a punishment

مُّهِينٞ

muheen.

humiliating

٩٠

2:91

وَإِذَا

Wa-ʹiẓaa

And when

قِيلَ

q̣eela

it is said

لَهُمۡ

lahum

to them

ءَامِنُواْ

ʹaaminoo

Believe

بِمَآ

bimaaa

in what

أَنزَلَ

ʹañzalal

has revealed

ٱللَّهُ

laahu

Allah

قَالُواْ

q̣aaloo

they say

نُؤۡمِنُ

nuʹminu

We believe

بِمَآ

bimaaa

in what

أُنزِلَ

ʹuñzila

was revealed

عَلَيۡنَا

ʻalaynaa

to us

وَيَكۡفُرُونَ

wa-yakfuroona

And they disbelieve

بِمَا

bimaa

in what

وَرَآءَهُۥ

waraaaʹahoo

(is) besides it

وَهُوَ

wa-huwal

while it

ٱلۡحَقُّ

Ḥaq̣q̣u

(is) the truth

مُصَدِّقٗا

muṣaddiq̣al

confirming

لِّمَا

limaa

what

مَعَهُمۡۗ

maʻahum.

(is) with them

قُلۡ

Q̣ul

Say

فَلِمَ

falima

Then why

تَقۡتُلُونَ

taq̣tuloona

(did) you kill

أَنۢبِيَآءَ

ʹambiyaaaʹal

(the) Prophets

ٱللَّهِ

laahi

(of) Allah

مِن

miñ

from

قَبۡلُ

q̣ablu

before

إِن

ʹiñ

كُنتُم

kuñtum

you were

مُّؤۡمِنِينَ

muʹmineen?

believers

٩١

2:85

ثُمَّ

S̤umma

Then

أَنتُمۡ

ʹañtum

you

هَٰٓؤُلَآءِ

haaaʹulaaaʹi

(are) those

تَقۡتُلُونَ

taq̣tuloona

(who) kill

أَنفُسَكُمۡ

ʹañfusakum

yourselves

وَتُخۡرِجُونَ

wa-tukhrijoona

and evict

فَرِيقٗا

fareeq̣am

a party

مِّنكُم

miñkum

of you

مِّن

miñ

from

دِيَٰرِهِمۡ

diyaarihim;

their homes

تَظَٰهَرُونَ

taz̤̣aaharoona

you support one another

عَلَيۡهِم

ʻalayhim̃

against them

بِٱلۡإِثۡمِ

bil-ʹis̤mi

وَٱلۡعُدۡوَٰنِ

bibaʻḍ?

فَمَا

Famaa

Then what

جَزَآءُ

jazaaaʹu

ẓaalika

that
