One of the 240 subdivisions of the Quran (quarter of a Hizb)

4:74
۞فَلۡيُقَٰتِلۡ
falyuqatil
So let fight
فِي
fi
in
سَبِيلِ
sabili
(the) way
ٱللَّهِ
al-lahi
(of) Allah
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhina
those who
يَشۡرُونَ
yashruna
sell
ٱلۡحَيَوٰةَ
al-hayata
the life
ٱلدُّنۡيَا
al-dun'ya
(of) the world
بِٱلۡأٓخِرَةِۚ
bil-akhirati
for the Hereafter
وَمَن
waman
And whoever
يُقَٰتِلۡ
yuqatil
fights
فِي
fi
in
سَبِيلِ
sabili
(the) way
ٱللَّهِ
al-lahi
(of) Allah
فَيُقۡتَلۡ
fayuq'tal
then he is killed
أَوۡ
aw
or
يَغۡلِبۡ
yaghlib
achieves victory
فَسَوۡفَ
fasawfa
then soon
نُؤۡتِيهِ
nu'tihi
We will grant him
أَجۡرًا
ajran
a reward
عَظِيمٗا
aziman
a great
٧٤

4:75
وَمَا
wama
And what
لَكُمۡ
lakum
for you
لَا
la
(that) not
تُقَٰتِلُونَ
tuqatiluna
you fight
فِي
fi
in
سَبِيلِ
sabili
(the) way
ٱللَّهِ
al-lahi
(of) Allah
وَٱلۡمُسۡتَضۡعَفِينَ
wal-mus'tad'afina
and (for) those who are weak
مِنَ
mina
among
ٱلرِّجَالِ
al-rijali
the men
وَٱلنِّسَآءِ
wal-nisai
and the women
وَٱلۡوِلۡدَٰنِ
wal-wil'dani
and the children
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhina
those who
يَقُولُونَ
yaquluna
say
رَبَّنَآ
rabbana
Our Lord
أَخۡرِجۡنَا
akhrij'na
take us out
مِنۡ
min
of
هَٰذِهِ
hadhihi
this
ٱلۡقَرۡيَةِ
al-qaryati
[the] town
ٱلظَّالِمِ
al-zalimi
[the] oppressor(s)
أَهۡلُهَا
ahluha
(are) its people
وَٱجۡعَل
wa-ij'al
and appoint
لَّنَا
lana
for us
مِن
min
from
لَّدُنكَ
ladunka
Yourself
وَلِيّٗا
waliyyan
a protector
وَٱجۡعَل
wa-ij'al
and appoint
لَّنَا
lana
for us
مِن
min
from
لَّدُنكَ
ladunka
Yourself
نَصِيرًا
nasiran
a helper
٧٥
4:76
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhina
Those who
ءَامَنُواْ
amanu
believe
يُقَٰتِلُونَ
yuqatiluna
they fight
فِي
fi
in
سَبِيلِ
sabili
(the) way
ٱللَّهِۖ
al-lahi
(of) Allah
وَٱلَّذِينَ
wa-alladhina
and those
كَفَرُواْ
kafaru
who disbelieve
يُقَٰتِلُونَ
yuqatiluna
they fight
فِي
fi
in
سَبِيلِ
sabili
(the) way
ٱلطَّٰغُوتِ
al-taghuti
(of) the false deities
فَقَٰتِلُوٓاْ
faqatilu
So fight (against)
أَوۡلِيَآءَ
awliyaa
(the) friends
ٱلشَّيۡطَٰنِۖ
al-shaytani
(of) the Shaitaan
إِنَّ
inna
Indeed
كَيۡدَ
kayda
(the) strategy
ٱلشَّيۡطَٰنِ
al-shaytani
(of) the Shaitaan
كَانَ
kana
is
ضَعِيفًا
da'ifan
weak
٧٦
4:77
أَلَمۡ
alam
Have not
تَرَ
tara
you seen
إِلَى
ila
[towards]
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhina
those who
قِيلَ
qila
(when) it was said
لَهُمۡ
lahum
to them
كُفُّوٓاْ
kuffu
Restrain
أَيۡدِيَكُمۡ
aydiyakum
your hands
وَأَقِيمُواْ
wa-aqimu
and establish
ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ
al-salata
the prayer
وَءَاتُواْ
waatu
and give
ٱلزَّكَوٰةَ
al-zakata
the zakah
فَلَمَّا
falamma
Then when
كُتِبَ
kutiba
was ordained
عَلَيۡهِمُ
alayhimu
on them
ٱلۡقِتَالُ
al-qitalu
the fighting
إِذَا
idha
then
فَرِيقٞ
fariqun
a group
مِّنۡهُمۡ
min'hum
of them
يَخۡشَوۡنَ
yakhshawna
[they] fear
ٱلنَّاسَ
al-nasa
the people
كَخَشۡيَةِ
kakhashyati
as (they) fear
ٱللَّهِ
al-lahi
Allah
أَوۡ
aw
or
أَشَدَّ
ashadda
more intense
خَشۡيَةٗۚ
khashyatan
fear
وَقَالُواْ
waqalu
and they said
رَبَّنَا
rabbana
Our Lord
لِمَ
lima
why
كَتَبۡتَ
katabta
have You ordained
عَلَيۡنَا
alayna
upon us
ٱلۡقِتَالَ
al-qitala
[the] fighting
لَوۡلَآ
lawla
Why not
أَخَّرۡتَنَآ
akhartana
You postpone (it for) us
إِلَىٰٓ
ila
to
أَجَلٖ
ajalin
a term
قَرِيبٖۗ
qaribin
near
قُلۡ
qul
Say
مَتَٰعُ
mata'u
Enjoyment
ٱلدُّنۡيَا
al-dun'ya
(of) the world
قَلِيلٞ
qalilun
(is) little
وَٱلۡأٓخِرَةُ
wal-akhiratu
and the Hereafter
خَيۡرٞ
khayrun
(is) better
لِّمَنِ
limani
for whoever
ٱتَّقَىٰ
ittaqa
fears (Allah)
وَلَا
wala
and not
تُظۡلَمُونَ
tuz'lamuna
you will be wronged
فَتِيلًا
fatilan
(even as much as) a hair on a date-seed
٧٧
4:78
أَيۡنَمَا
aynama
Wherever
تَكُونُواْ
takunu
you be
يُدۡرِككُّمُ
yud'rikkumu
will overtake you
ٱلۡمَوۡتُ
al-mawtu
[the] death
وَلَوۡ
walaw
even if
كُنتُمۡ
kuntum
you are
فِي
fi
in
بُرُوجٖ
burujin
towers
مُّشَيَّدَةٖۗ
mushayyadatin
lofty
وَإِن
wa-in
And if
تُصِبۡهُمۡ
tusib'hum
befalls them
حَسَنَةٞ
hasanatun
any good
يَقُولُواْ
yaqulu
they say
هَٰذِهِۦ
hadhihi
This
مِنۡ
min
(is)
عِندِ
indi
from
ٱللَّهِۖ
al-lahi
Allah
وَإِن
wa-in
And if
تُصِبۡهُمۡ
tusib'hum
befalls them
سَيِّئَةٞ
sayyi-atun
any evil
يَقُولُواْ
yaqulu
they say
هَٰذِهِۦ
hadhihi
This
مِنۡ
min
(is)
عِندِكَۚ
indika
(from) you
قُلۡ
qul
Say
كُلّٞ
kullun
All
مِّنۡ
min
(is)
عِندِ
indi
from
ٱللَّهِۖ
al-lahi
Allah
فَمَالِ
famali
So what (is wrong)
هَٰٓؤُلَآءِ
haulai
(with) these
ٱلۡقَوۡمِ
al-qawmi
[the] people
لَا
la
not
يَكَادُونَ
yakaduna
do they seem
يَفۡقَهُونَ
yafqahuna
(to) understand
حَدِيثٗا
hadithan
any statement
٧٨
4:79
مَّآ
ma
What(ever)
أَصَابَكَ
asabaka
befalls you
مِنۡ
min
of
حَسَنَةٖ
hasanatin
(the) good
فَمِنَ
famina
(is) from
ٱللَّهِۖ
al-lahi
Allah
وَمَآ
wama
and whatever
أَصَابَكَ
asabaka
befalls you
مِن
min
of
سَيِّئَةٖ
sayyi-atin
(the) evil
فَمِن
famin
(is) from
نَّفۡسِكَۚ
nafsika
yourself
وَأَرۡسَلۡنَٰكَ
wa-arsalnaka
And We have sent you
لِلنَّاسِ
lilnnasi
for the people
رَسُولٗاۚ
rasulan
(as) a Messenger
وَكَفَىٰ
wakafa
and is sufficient
بِٱللَّهِ
bil-lahi
Allah
شَهِيدٗا
shahidan
(as) a Witness
٧٩

4:80
مَّن
man
(He) who
يُطِعِ
yuti'i
obeys
ٱلرَّسُولَ
al-rasula
the Messenger
فَقَدۡ
faqad
then surely
أَطَاعَ
ata'a
he obeyed
ٱللَّهَۖ
al-laha
Allah
وَمَن
waman
and whoever
تَوَلَّىٰ
tawalla
turns away
فَمَآ
fama
then not
أَرۡسَلۡنَٰكَ
arsalnaka
We (have) sent you
عَلَيۡهِمۡ
alayhim
over them
حَفِيظٗا
hafizan
(as) a guardian
٨٠
4:81
وَيَقُولُونَ
wayaquluna
And they say
طَاعَةٞ
ta'atun
(We pledge) obedience
فَإِذَا
fa-idha
Then when
بَرَزُواْ
barazu
they leave
مِنۡ
min
from
عِندِكَ
indika
you
بَيَّتَ
bayyata
plan by night
طَآئِفَةٞ
taifatun
a group
مِّنۡهُمۡ
min'hum
of them
غَيۡرَ
ghayra
other than
ٱلَّذِي
alladhi
that which
تَقُولُۖ
taqulu
you say
وَٱللَّهُ
wal-lahu
But Allah
يَكۡتُبُ
yaktubu
records
مَا
ma
what
يُبَيِّتُونَۖ
yubayyituna
they plan by night
فَأَعۡرِضۡ
fa-a'rid
So turn (away)
عَنۡهُمۡ
anhum
from them
وَتَوَكَّلۡ
watawakkal
and put (your) trust
عَلَى
ala
in
ٱللَّهِۚ
al-lahi
Allah
وَكَفَىٰ
wakafa
And sufficient
بِٱللَّهِ
bil-lahi
is Allah
وَكِيلًا
wakilan
(as) a Trustee
٨١
4:82
أَفَلَا
afala
Then (do) not
يَتَدَبَّرُونَ
yatadabbaruna
they ponder
ٱلۡقُرۡءَانَۚ
al-qur'ana
(on) the Quran
وَلَوۡ
walaw
And if
كَانَ
kana
it had (been)
مِنۡ
min
(of)
عِندِ
indi
from
غَيۡرِ
ghayri
other than
ٱللَّهِ
al-lahi
Allah
لَوَجَدُواْ
lawajadu
surely they (would have) found
فِيهِ
fihi
in it
ٱخۡتِلَٰفٗا
ikh'tilafan
contradiction
كَثِيرٗا
kathiran
much
٨٢
4:83
وَإِذَا
wa-idha
And when
جَآءَهُمۡ
jaahum
comes to them
أَمۡرٞ
amrun
a matter
مِّنَ
mina
of
ٱلۡأَمۡنِ
al-amni
the security
أَوِ
awi
or
ٱلۡخَوۡفِ
al-khawfi
[the] fear
أَذَاعُواْ
adha'u
they spread
بِهِۦۖ
bihi
[with] it
وَلَوۡ
walaw
But if
رَدُّوهُ
radduhu
they (had) referred it
إِلَى
ila
to
ٱلرَّسُولِ
al-rasuli
the Messenger
وَإِلَىٰٓ
wa-ila
and to
أُوْلِي
uli
those
ٱلۡأَمۡرِ
al-amri
(having) authority
مِنۡهُمۡ
min'hum
among them
لَعَلِمَهُ
la'alimahu
surely would have known it
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhina
those who
يَسۡتَنۢبِطُونَهُۥ
yastanbitunahu
draw correct conclusion (from) it
مِنۡهُمۡۗ
min'hum
among them
وَلَوۡلَا
walawla
And if not
فَضۡلُ
fadlu
(had been the) bounty
ٱللَّهِ
al-lahi
(of) Allah
عَلَيۡكُمۡ
alaykum
on you
وَرَحۡمَتُهُۥ
warahmatuhu
and His Mercy
لَٱتَّبَعۡتُمُ
la-ittaba'tumu
surely you (would have) followed
ٱلشَّيۡطَٰنَ
al-shaytana
the Shaitaan
إِلَّا
illa
except
قَلِيلٗا
qalilan
a few
٨٣
4:84
فَقَٰتِلۡ
faqatil
So fight
فِي
fi
in
سَبِيلِ
sabili
(the) way
ٱللَّهِ
al-lahi
(of) Allah
لَا
la
not
تُكَلَّفُ
tukallafu
are you responsible
إِلَّا
illa
except
نَفۡسَكَۚ
nafsaka
(for) yourself
وَحَرِّضِ
waharridi
And encourage
ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِينَۖ
al-mu'minina
the believers
عَسَى
asa
perhaps
ٱللَّهُ
al-lahu
Allah
أَن
an
will
يَكُفَّ
yakuffa
restrain
بَأۡسَ
basa
(the) might
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhina
(of) those who
كَفَرُواْۚ
kafaru
disbelieved
وَٱللَّهُ
wal-lahu
And Allah
أَشَدُّ
ashaddu
(is) Stronger
بَأۡسٗا
basan
(in) Might
وَأَشَدُّ
wa-ashaddu
and Stronger
تَنكِيلٗا
tankilan
(in) punishment
٨٤
4:85
مَّن
man
Whoever
يَشۡفَعۡ
yashfa'
intercedes
شَفَٰعَةً
shafa'atan
an intercession
حَسَنَةٗ
hasanatan
good
يَكُن
yakun
will have
لَّهُۥ
lahu
for him
نَصِيبٞ
nasibun
a share
مِّنۡهَاۖ
min'ha
of it
وَمَن
waman
and whoever
يَشۡفَعۡ
yashfa'
intercedes
شَفَٰعَةٗ
shafa'atan
an intercession
سَيِّئَةٗ
sayyi-atan
evil
يَكُن
yakun
will have
لَّهُۥ
lahu
for him
كِفۡلٞ
kif'lun
a portion
مِّنۡهَاۗ
min'ha
of it
وَكَانَ
wakana
And is
ٱللَّهُ
al-lahu
Allah
عَلَىٰ
ala
on
كُلِّ
kulli
every
شَيۡءٖ
shayin
thing
مُّقِيتٗا
muqitan
a Keeper
٨٥
4:86
وَإِذَا
wa-idha
And when
حُيِّيتُم
huyyitum
you are greeted
بِتَحِيَّةٖ
bitahiyyatin
with a greeting
فَحَيُّواْ
fahayyu
then greet
بِأَحۡسَنَ
bi-ahsana
with better
مِنۡهَآ
min'ha
than it
أَوۡ
aw
or
رُدُّوهَآۗ
rudduha
return it
إِنَّ
inna
Indeed
ٱللَّهَ
al-laha
Allah
كَانَ
kana
is
عَلَىٰ
ala
of
كُلِّ
kulli
every
شَيۡءٍ
shayin
thing
حَسِيبًا
hasiban
an Accountant
٨٦
Page 92
4:87
ٱللَّهُ
al-lahu
Allah
لَآ
la
(there is) no
إِلَٰهَ
ilaha
god
إِلَّا
illa
except
هُوَۚ
huwa
Him
لَيَجۡمَعَنَّكُمۡ
layajma'annakum
surely He will gather you
إِلَىٰ
ila
to
يَوۡمِ
yawmi
(the) Day
ٱلۡقِيَٰمَةِ
al-qiyamati
(of) Resurrection
لَا
la
no
رَيۡبَ
rayba
doubt
فِيهِۗ
fihi
about it
وَمَنۡ
waman
And who
أَصۡدَقُ
asdaqu
(is) more truthful
مِنَ
mina
than
ٱللَّهِ
al-lahi
Allah
حَدِيثٗا
hadithan
(in) statement
٨٧
