One of the 240 subdivisions of the Quran (quarter of a Hizb)

4:36
۞وَٱعۡبُدُواْ
wa-u'budu
And worship
ٱللَّهَ
al-laha
Allah
وَلَا
wala
And (do) not
تُشۡرِكُواْ
tush'riku
associate
بِهِۦ
bihi
with Him
شَيۡـٔٗاۖ
shayan
anything
وَبِٱلۡوَٰلِدَيۡنِ
wabil-walidayni
and to the parents
إِحۡسَٰنٗا
ih'sanan
(do) good
وَبِذِي
wabidhi
and with
ٱلۡقُرۡبَىٰ
al-qur'ba
the relatives
وَٱلۡيَتَٰمَىٰ
wal-yatama
and the orphans
وَٱلۡمَسَٰكِينِ
wal-masakini
and the needy
وَٱلۡجَارِ
wal-jari
and the neighbor
ذِي
dhi
(who is)
ٱلۡقُرۡبَىٰ
al-qur'ba
near
وَٱلۡجَارِ
wal-jari
and the neighbor
ٱلۡجُنُبِ
al-junubi
(who is) farther away
وَٱلصَّاحِبِ
wal-sahibi
and the companion
بِٱلۡجَنۢبِ
bil-janbi
by your side
وَٱبۡنِ
wa-ib'ni
and the
ٱلسَّبِيلِ
al-sabili
traveler
وَمَا
wama
and what
مَلَكَتۡ
malakat
possess[ed]
أَيۡمَٰنُكُمۡۗ
aymanukum
your right hands
إِنَّ
inna
Indeed
ٱللَّهَ
al-laha
Allah
لَا
la
(does) not
يُحِبُّ
yuhibbu
love
مَن
man
(the one) who
كَانَ
kana
is
مُخۡتَالٗا
mukh'talan
[a] proud
فَخُورًا
fakhuran
(and) [a] boastful
٣٦
4:37
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhina
Those who
يَبۡخَلُونَ
yabkhaluna
are stingy
وَيَأۡمُرُونَ
wayamuruna
and order
ٱلنَّاسَ
al-nasa
the people
بِٱلۡبُخۡلِ
bil-bukh'li
[of] stinginess
وَيَكۡتُمُونَ
wayaktumuna
and hide
مَآ
ma
what
ءَاتَىٰهُمُ
atahumu
(has) given them
ٱللَّهُ
al-lahu
Allah
مِن
min
of
فَضۡلِهِۦۗ
fadlihi
His Bounty
وَأَعۡتَدۡنَا
wa-a'tadna
and We (have) prepared
لِلۡكَٰفِرِينَ
lil'kafirina
for the disbelievers
عَذَابٗا
adhaban
a punishment
مُّهِينٗا
muhinan
humiliating

4:38
وَٱلَّذِينَ
wa-alladhina
And those who
يُنفِقُونَ
yunfiquna
spend
أَمۡوَٰلَهُمۡ
amwalahum
their wealth
رِئَآءَ
riaa
to be seen
ٱلنَّاسِ
al-nasi
(by) the people
وَلَا
wala
and not
يُؤۡمِنُونَ
yu'minuna
they believe
بِٱللَّهِ
bil-lahi
in Allah
وَلَا
wala
and not
بِٱلۡيَوۡمِ
bil-yawmi
in the Day
ٱلۡأٓخِرِۗ
al-akhiri
the Last
وَمَن
waman
and whoever
يَكُنِ
yakuni
has
ٱلشَّيۡطَٰنُ
al-shaytanu
the Shaitaan
لَهُۥ
lahu
for him
قَرِينٗا
qarinan
(as) companion
فَسَآءَ
fasaa
then evil
قَرِينٗا
qarinan
(is he as) a companion
٣٨
4:39
وَمَاذَا
wamadha
And what
عَلَيۡهِمۡ
alayhim
(is) against them
لَوۡ
law
if
ءَامَنُواْ
amanu
they believed
بِٱللَّهِ
bil-lahi
in Allah
وَٱلۡيَوۡمِ
wal-yawmi
and the Day
ٱلۡأٓخِرِ
al-akhiri
the Last
وَأَنفَقُواْ
wa-anfaqu
and spent
مِمَّا
mimma
from what
رَزَقَهُمُ
razaqahumu
(has) provided them
ٱللَّهُۚ
al-lahu
Allah
وَكَانَ
wakana
And is
ٱللَّهُ
al-lahu
Allah
بِهِمۡ
bihim
about them
عَلِيمًا
aliman
All-Knower
٣٩
4:40
إِنَّ
inna
Indeed
ٱللَّهَ
al-laha
Allah
لَا
la
(does) not
يَظۡلِمُ
yazlimu
wrong
مِثۡقَالَ
mith'qala
(as much as) weight
ذَرَّةٖۖ
dharratin
(of) an atom
وَإِن
wa-in
And if
تَكُ
taku
there is
حَسَنَةٗ
hasanatan
a good
يُضَٰعِفۡهَا
yuda'if'ha
He doubles it
وَيُؤۡتِ
wayu'ti
and gives
مِن
min
from
لَّدُنۡهُ
ladun'hu
near Him
أَجۡرًا
ajran
a reward
عَظِيمٗا
aziman
great
٤٠
4:41
فَكَيۡفَ
fakayfa
So how (will it be)
إِذَا
idha
when
جِئۡنَا
ji'na
We bring
مِن
min
from
كُلِّ
kulli
every
أُمَّةِۭ
ummatin
nation
بِشَهِيدٖ
bishahidin
a witness
وَجِئۡنَا
waji'na
and We bring
بِكَ
bika
you
عَلَىٰ
ala
against
هَٰٓؤُلَآءِ
haulai
these (people)
شَهِيدٗا
shahidan
(as) a witness
٤١
4:42
يَوۡمَئِذٖ
yawma-idhin
(On) that Day
يَوَدُّ
yawaddu
will wish
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhina
those who
كَفَرُواْ
kafaru
disbelieved
وَعَصَوُاْ
wa'asawu
and disobeyed
ٱلرَّسُولَ
al-rasula
the Messenger
لَوۡ
law
if
تُسَوَّىٰ
tusawwa
was leveled
بِهِمُ
bihimu
with them
ٱلۡأَرۡضُ
al-ardu
the earth
وَلَا
wala
and not
يَكۡتُمُونَ
yaktumuna
they will (be able to) hide
ٱللَّهَ
al-laha
(from) Allah
حَدِيثٗا
hadithan
(any) statement
٤٢
4:43
يَٰٓأَيُّهَا
yaayyuha
O you
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhina
who
ءَامَنُواْ
amanu
believe[d]
لَا
la
(Do) not
تَقۡرَبُواْ
taqrabu
go near
ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ
al-salata
the prayer
وَأَنتُمۡ
wa-antum
while you
سُكَٰرَىٰ
sukara
(are) intoxicated
حَتَّىٰ
hatta
until
تَعۡلَمُواْ
ta'lamu
you know
مَا
ma
what
تَقُولُونَ
taquluna
you are saying
وَلَا
wala
and not
جُنُبًا
junuban
(when you are) impure
إِلَّا
illa
except
عَابِرِي
abiri
(when) passing
سَبِيلٍ
sabilin
(through) a way
حَتَّىٰ
hatta
until
تَغۡتَسِلُواْۚ
taghtasilu
you have bathed
وَإِن
wa-in
And if
كُنتُم
kuntum
you are
مَّرۡضَىٰٓ
marda
ill
أَوۡ
aw
or
عَلَىٰ
ala
on
سَفَرٍ
safarin
a journey
أَوۡ
aw
or
جَآءَ
jaa
came
أَحَدٞ
ahadun
one
مِّنكُم
minkum
of you
مِّنَ
mina
from
ٱلۡغَآئِطِ
al-ghaiti
the toilet
أَوۡ
aw
or
لَٰمَسۡتُمُ
lamastumu
you have touched
ٱلنِّسَآءَ
al-nisaa
the women
فَلَمۡ
falam
and not
تَجِدُواْ
tajidu
you find
مَآءٗ
maan
water
فَتَيَمَّمُواْ
fatayammamu
then do tayammum
صَعِيدٗا
sa'idan
(with) earth
طَيِّبٗا
tayyiban
clean
فَٱمۡسَحُواْ
fa-im'sahu
and wipe (with it)
بِوُجُوهِكُمۡ
biwujuhikum
your faces
وَأَيۡدِيكُمۡۗ
wa-aydikum
and your hands
إِنَّ
inna
Indeed
ٱللَّهَ
al-laha
Allah
كَانَ
kana
is
عَفُوًّا
afuwwan
Oft-Pardoning
غَفُورًا
ghafuran
Oft-Forgiving
٤٣
4:44
أَلَمۡ
alam
Did not
تَرَ
tara
you see
إِلَى
ila
[towards]
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhina
those who
أُوتُواْ
utu
were given
نَصِيبٗا
nasiban
a portion
مِّنَ
mina
of
ٱلۡكِتَٰبِ
al-kitabi
the Book
يَشۡتَرُونَ
yashtaruna
purchasing
ٱلضَّلَٰلَةَ
al-dalalata
[the] error
وَيُرِيدُونَ
wayuriduna
and wishing
أَن
an
that
تَضِلُّواْ
tadillu
you stray
ٱلسَّبِيلَ
al-sabila
(from) the way
٤٤

4:45
وَٱللَّهُ
wal-lahu
And Allah
أَعۡلَمُ
a'lamu
knows better
بِأَعۡدَآئِكُمۡۚ
bi-a'daikum
about your enemies
وَكَفَىٰ
wakafa
and (is) sufficient
بِٱللَّهِ
bil-lahi
Allah
وَلِيّٗا
waliyyan
(as) a Protector
وَكَفَىٰ
wakafa
and sufficient
بِٱللَّهِ
bil-lahi
(is) Allah
نَصِيرٗا
nasiran
(as) a Helper
٤٥
4:46
مِّنَ
mina
Of
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhina
those who
هَادُواْ
hadu
are Jews
يُحَرِّفُونَ
yuharrifuna
they distort
ٱلۡكَلِمَ
al-kalima
the words
عَن
an
from
مَّوَاضِعِهِۦ
mawadi'ihi
their places
وَيَقُولُونَ
wayaquluna
and they say
سَمِعۡنَا
sami'na
We hear[d]
وَعَصَيۡنَا
wa'asayna
and we disobey[ed]
وَٱسۡمَعۡ
wa-is'ma'
and Hear
غَيۡرَ
ghayra
not
مُسۡمَعٖ
mus'ma'in
to be heard
وَرَٰعِنَا
wara'ina
and Raina
لَيَّۢا
layyan
twisting
بِأَلۡسِنَتِهِمۡ
bi-alsinatihim
[with] their tongues
وَطَعۡنٗا
wata'nan
and defaming
فِي
fi
[in]
ٱلدِّينِۚ
al-dini
the religion
وَلَوۡ
walaw
And if
أَنَّهُمۡ
annahum
[that] they
قَالُواْ
qalu
(had) said
سَمِعۡنَا
sami'na
We hear[d]
وَأَطَعۡنَا
wa-ata'na
and we obey[ed]
وَٱسۡمَعۡ
wa-is'ma'
and Hear
وَٱنظُرۡنَا
wa-unzur'na
and look (at) us
لَكَانَ
lakana
surely it (would) have been
خَيۡرٗا
khayran
better
لَّهُمۡ
lahum
for them
وَأَقۡوَمَ
wa-aqwama
and more suitable
وَلَٰكِن
walakin
[And] but
لَّعَنَهُمُ
la'anahumu
cursed them
ٱللَّهُ
al-lahu
Allah
بِكُفۡرِهِمۡ
bikuf'rihim
for their disbelief
فَلَا
fala
so not
يُؤۡمِنُونَ
yu'minuna
they believe
إِلَّا
illa
except
قَلِيلٗا
qalilan
a few
٤٦
4:47
يَٰٓأَيُّهَا
yaayyuha
O you
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhina
who
أُوتُواْ
utu
(have) been given
ٱلۡكِتَٰبَ
al-kitaba
the Book
ءَامِنُواْ
aminu
believe
بِمَا
bima
in what
نَزَّلۡنَا
nazzalna
We (have) revealed
مُصَدِّقٗا
musaddiqan
confirming
لِّمَا
lima
what is
مَعَكُم
ma'akum
with you
مِّن
min
from
قَبۡلِ
qabli
before
أَن
an
[that]
نَّطۡمِسَ
natmisa
We efface
وُجُوهٗا
wujuhan
faces
فَنَرُدَّهَا
fanaruddaha
and turn them
عَلَىٰٓ
ala
on
أَدۡبَارِهَآ
adbariha
their backs
أَوۡ
aw
or
نَلۡعَنَهُمۡ
nal'anahum
We curse them
كَمَا
kama
as
لَعَنَّآ
la'anna
We cursed
أَصۡحَٰبَ
ashaba
companions
ٱلسَّبۡتِۚ
al-sabti
(of) the Sabbath
وَكَانَ
wakana
And is
أَمۡرُ
amru
(the) command
ٱللَّهِ
al-lahi
(of) Allah
مَفۡعُولًا
maf'ulan
(always) executed
٤٧
4:48
إِنَّ
inna
Indeed
ٱللَّهَ
al-laha
Allah
لَا
la
(does) not
يَغۡفِرُ
yaghfiru
forgive
أَن
an
that
يُشۡرَكَ
yush'raka
partners be associated
بِهِۦ
bihi
with Him
وَيَغۡفِرُ
wayaghfiru
but He forgives
مَا
ma
from
دُونَ
duna
other than
ذَٰلِكَ
dhalika
that
لِمَن
liman
for whom
يَشَآءُۚ
yashau
He wills
وَمَن
waman
And whoever
يُشۡرِكۡ
yush'rik
associates partners
بِٱللَّهِ
bil-lahi
with Allah
فَقَدِ
faqadi
then surely
ٱفۡتَرَىٰٓ
if'tara
he has fabricated
إِثۡمًا
ith'man
a sin
عَظِيمًا
aziman
tremendous
٤٨
4:49
أَلَمۡ
alam
Do not
تَرَ
tara
you see
إِلَى
ila
[towards]
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhina
those who
يُزَكُّونَ
yuzakkuna
claim purity
أَنفُسَهُمۚ
anfusahum
(for) themselves
بَلِ
bali
Nay
ٱللَّهُ
al-lahu
(it is) Allah
يُزَكِّي
yuzakki
He purifies
مَن
man
whom
يَشَآءُ
yashau
He wills
وَلَا
wala
and not
يُظۡلَمُونَ
yuz'lamuna
they will be wronged
فَتِيلًا
fatilan
(even as much as) a hair on a date-seed
٤٩
4:50
ٱنظُرۡ
unzur
See
كَيۡفَ
kayfa
how
يَفۡتَرُونَ
yaftaruna
they invent
عَلَى
ala
about
ٱللَّهِ
al-lahi
Allah
ٱلۡكَذِبَۖ
al-kadhiba
[the] lie
وَكَفَىٰ
wakafa
and sufficient
بِهِۦٓ
bihi
is it
إِثۡمٗا
ith'man
(as) a sin
مُّبِينًا
mubinan
manifest
٥٠
4:51
أَلَمۡ
alam
Do not
تَرَ
tara
you see
إِلَى
ila
[towards]
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhina
those who
أُوتُواْ
utu
were given
نَصِيبٗا
nasiban
a portion
مِّنَ
mina
of
ٱلۡكِتَٰبِ
al-kitabi
the Book
يُؤۡمِنُونَ
yu'minuna
They believe
بِٱلۡجِبۡتِ
bil-jib'ti
in the superstition
وَٱلطَّٰغُوتِ
wal-taghuti
and the false deities
وَيَقُولُونَ
wayaquluna
and they say
لِلَّذِينَ
lilladhina
for those who
كَفَرُواْ
kafaru
disbelieve[d]
هَٰٓؤُلَآءِ
haulai
These
أَهۡدَىٰ
ahda
(are) better guided
مِنَ
mina
than
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhina
those who
ءَامَنُواْ
amanu
believe[d]
سَبِيلًا
sabilan
(as to the) way

4:52
أُوْلَٰٓئِكَ
ulaika
Those
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhina
(are) the ones
لَعَنَهُمُ
la'anahumu
(who have been) cursed
ٱللَّهُۖ
al-lahu
(by) Allah
وَمَن
waman
and whoever
يَلۡعَنِ
yal'ani
(is) cursed
ٱللَّهُ
al-lahu
(by) Allah
فَلَن
falan
then never
تَجِدَ
tajida
will you find
لَهُۥ
lahu
for him
نَصِيرًا
nasiran
(any) helper
٥٢
4:53
أَمۡ
am
Or
لَهُمۡ
lahum
for them
نَصِيبٞ
nasibun
(is) a share
مِّنَ
mina
of
ٱلۡمُلۡكِ
al-mul'ki
the Kingdom
فَإِذٗا
fa-idhan
Then
لَّا
la
not would
يُؤۡتُونَ
yu'tuna
they give
ٱلنَّاسَ
al-nasa
the people
نَقِيرًا
naqiran
(even as much as the) speck on a date seed
٥٣
4:54
أَمۡ
am
Or
يَحۡسُدُونَ
yahsuduna
are they jealous
ٱلنَّاسَ
al-nasa
(of) the people
عَلَىٰ
ala
for
مَآ
ma
what
ءَاتَىٰهُمُ
atahumu
gave them
ٱللَّهُ
al-lahu
Allah
مِن
min
from
فَضۡلِهِۦۖ
fadlihi
His Bounty
فَقَدۡ
faqad
But surely
ءَاتَيۡنَآ
atayna
We gave
ءَالَ
ala
(the) family
إِبۡرَٰهِيمَ
ib'rahima
(of) Ibrahim
ٱلۡكِتَٰبَ
al-kitaba
the Book
وَٱلۡحِكۡمَةَ
wal-hik'mata
and [the] wisdom
وَءَاتَيۡنَٰهُم
waataynahum
and [We] gave them
مُّلۡكًا
mul'kan
a kingdom
عَظِيمٗا
aziman
great
٥٤
4:55
فَمِنۡهُم
famin'hum
Then of them
مَّنۡ
man
(are some) who
ءَامَنَ
amana
believed
بِهِۦ
bihi
in him
وَمِنۡهُم
wamin'hum
and of them
مَّن
man
(are some) who
صَدَّ
sadda
turned away
عَنۡهُۚ
anhu
from him
وَكَفَىٰ
wakafa
and sufficient
بِجَهَنَّمَ
bijahannama
(is) Hell
سَعِيرًا
sa'iran
(as a) Blazing Fire
٥٥
4:56
إِنَّ
inna
Indeed
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhina
those who
كَفَرُواْ
kafaru
disbelieved
بِـَٔايَٰتِنَا
biayatina
in Our Signs
سَوۡفَ
sawfa
soon
نُصۡلِيهِمۡ
nus'lihim
We will burn them
نَارٗا
naran
(in) a Fire
كُلَّمَا
kullama
Every time
نَضِجَتۡ
nadijat
are roasted
جُلُودُهُم
juluduhum
their skins
بَدَّلۡنَٰهُمۡ
baddalnahum
We will change their
جُلُودًا
juludan
skins
غَيۡرَهَا
ghayraha
for other (than) that
لِيَذُوقُواْ
liyadhuqu
so that they may taste
ٱلۡعَذَابَۗ
al-'adhaba
the punishment
إِنَّ
inna
Indeed
ٱللَّهَ
al-laha
Allah
كَانَ
kana
is
عَزِيزًا
azizan
All-Mighty
حَكِيمٗا
hakiman
All-Wise
٥٦
4:57
وَٱلَّذِينَ
wa-alladhina
And those who
ءَامَنُواْ
amanu
believe[d]
وَعَمِلُواْ
wa'amilu
and did
ٱلصَّٰلِحَٰتِ
al-salihati
the good deeds
سَنُدۡخِلُهُمۡ
sanud'khiluhum
We will admit them
جَنَّٰتٖ
jannatin
(in) Gardens
تَجۡرِي
tajri
flows
مِن
min
from
تَحۡتِهَا
tahtiha
underneath it
ٱلۡأَنۡهَٰرُ
al-anharu
the rivers
خَٰلِدِينَ
khalidina
will abide
فِيهَآ
fiha
in it
أَبَدٗاۖ
abadan
forever
لَّهُمۡ
lahum
For them
فِيهَآ
fiha
in it
أَزۡوَٰجٞ
azwajun
(are) spouses
مُّطَهَّرَةٞۖ
mutahharatun
pure
وَنُدۡخِلُهُمۡ
wanud'khiluhum
and We will admit them
ظِلّٗا
zillan
(in the) shade
ظَلِيلًا
zalilan
thick
٥٧
