One of the 240 subdivisions of the Quran (quarter of a Hizb)

2:44
۞أَتَأۡمُرُونَ
atamuruna
Do you order
ٱلنَّاسَ
al-nasa
[the] people
بِٱلۡبِرِّ
bil-biri
[the] righteousness
وَتَنسَوۡنَ
watansawna
and you forget
أَنفُسَكُمۡ
anfusakum
yourselves
وَأَنتُمۡ
wa-antum
while you
تَتۡلُونَ
tatluna
[you] recite
ٱلۡكِتَٰبَۚ
al-kitaba
the Book
أَفَلَا
afala
Then will not
تَعۡقِلُونَ
ta'qiluna
you use reason
٤٤
2:45
وَٱسۡتَعِينُواْ
wa-is'ta'inu
And seek help
بِٱلصَّبۡرِ
bil-sabri
through patience
وَٱلصَّلَوٰةِۚ
wal-salati
and the prayer
وَإِنَّهَا
wa-innaha
and indeed it
لَكَبِيرَةٌ
lakabiratun
(is) surely difficult
إِلَّا
illa
except
عَلَى
ala
on
ٱلۡخَٰشِعِينَ
al-khashi'ina
the humble ones
٤٥
2:46
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhina
Those who
يَظُنُّونَ
yazunnuna
believe
أَنَّهُم
annahum
that they
مُّلَٰقُواْ
mulaqu
will meet
رَبِّهِمۡ
rabbihim
their Lord
وَأَنَّهُمۡ
wa-annahum
and that they
إِلَيۡهِ
ilayhi
to Him
رَٰجِعُونَ
raji'una
will return
٤٦
2:47
يَٰبَنِيٓ
yabani
O Children
إِسۡرَٰٓءِيلَ
is'raila
(of) Israel
ٱذۡكُرُواْ
udh'kuru
Remember
نِعۡمَتِيَ
ni'matiya
My Favor
ٱلَّتِيٓ
allati
which
أَنۡعَمۡتُ
an'amtu
I bestowed
عَلَيۡكُمۡ
alaykum
upon you
وَأَنِّي
wa-anni
and that I
فَضَّلۡتُكُمۡ
faddaltukum
[I] preferred you
عَلَى
ala
over
ٱلۡعَٰلَمِينَ
al-'alamina
the worlds
٤٧
2:48
وَٱتَّقُواْ
wa-ittaqu
And fear
يَوۡمٗا
yawman
a day
لَّا
la
(will) not
تَجۡزِي
tajzi
avail
نَفۡسٌ
nafsun
any soul
عَن
an
for
نَّفۡسٖ
nafsin
(another) soul
شَيۡـٔٗا
shayan
anything
وَلَا
wala
and not
يُقۡبَلُ
yuq'balu
will be accepted
مِنۡهَا
min'ha
from it
شَفَٰعَةٞ
shafa'atun
any intercession
وَلَا
wala
and not
يُؤۡخَذُ
yu'khadhu
will be taken
مِنۡهَا
min'ha
from it
عَدۡلٞ
adlun
a compensation
وَلَا
wala
and not
هُمۡ
hum
they
يُنصَرُونَ
yunsaruna
will be helped

وَإِذۡ
wa-idh
And when
نَجَّيۡنَٰكُم
najjaynakum
We saved you
مِّنۡ
min
from
ءَالِ
ali
(the) people
فِرۡعَوۡنَ
fir'awna
(of) Firaun
يَسُومُونَكُمۡ
yasumunakum
(who were) afflicting you (with)
سُوٓءَ
sua
horrible
ٱلۡعَذَابِ
al-'adhabi
torment
يُذَبِّحُونَ
yudhabbihuna
slaughtering
أَبۡنَآءَكُمۡ
abnaakum
your sons
وَيَسۡتَحۡيُونَ
wayastahyuna
and letting live
نِسَآءَكُمۡۚ
nisaakum
your women
وَفِي
wafi
And in
ذَٰلِكُم
dhalikum
that
بَلَآءٞ
balaon
(was) a trial
مِّن
min
from
رَّبِّكُمۡ
rabbikum
your Lord
عَظِيمٞ
azimun
great
٤٩
2:50
وَإِذۡ
wa-idh
And when
فَرَقۡنَا
faraqna
We parted
بِكُمُ
bikumu
for you
ٱلۡبَحۡرَ
al-bahra
the sea
فَأَنجَيۡنَٰكُمۡ
fa-anjaynakum
then We saved you
وَأَغۡرَقۡنَآ
wa-aghraqna
and We drowned
ءَالَ
ala
(the) people
فِرۡعَوۡنَ
fir'awna
(of) Firaun
وَأَنتُمۡ
wa-antum
while you
تَنظُرُونَ
tanzuruna
(were) looking
٥٠
2:51
وَإِذۡ
wa-idh
And when
وَٰعَدۡنَا
wa'adna
We appointed
مُوسَىٰٓ
musa
(for) Musa
أَرۡبَعِينَ
arba'ina
forty
لَيۡلَةٗ
laylatan
nights
ثُمَّ
thumma
Then
ٱتَّخَذۡتُمُ
ittakhadhtumu
you took
ٱلۡعِجۡلَ
al-'ij'la
the calf
مِنۢ
min
from
بَعۡدِهِۦ
ba'dihi
after him
وَأَنتُمۡ
wa-antum
and you
ظَٰلِمُونَ
zalimuna
(were) wrongdoers
٥١
2:52
ثُمَّ
thumma
Then
عَفَوۡنَا
afawna
We forgave
عَنكُم
ankum
you
مِّنۢ
min
from
بَعۡدِ
ba'di
after
ذَٰلِكَ
dhalika
that
لَعَلَّكُمۡ
la'allakum
so that you may
تَشۡكُرُونَ
tashkuruna
(be) grateful
٥٢
2:53
وَإِذۡ
wa-idh
And when
ءَاتَيۡنَا
atayna
We gave
مُوسَى
musa
Musa
ٱلۡكِتَٰبَ
al-kitaba
the Book
وَٱلۡفُرۡقَانَ
wal-fur'qana
and the Criterion
لَعَلَّكُمۡ
la'allakum
perhaps you
تَهۡتَدُونَ
tahtaduna
(would be) guided
٥٣
2:54
وَإِذۡ
wa-idh
And when
قَالَ
qala
said
مُوسَىٰ
musa
Musa
لِقَوۡمِهِۦ
liqawmihi
to his people
يَٰقَوۡمِ
yaqawmi
O my people
إِنَّكُمۡ
innakum
Indeed you
ظَلَمۡتُمۡ
zalamtum
[you] have wronged
أَنفُسَكُم
anfusakum
yourselves
بِٱتِّخَاذِكُمُ
bi-ittikhadhikumu
by your taking
ٱلۡعِجۡلَ
al-'ij'la
the calf
فَتُوبُوٓاْ
fatubu
So turn in repentance
إِلَىٰ
ila
to
بَارِئِكُمۡ
bari-ikum
your Creator
فَٱقۡتُلُوٓاْ
fa-uq'tulu
and kill
أَنفُسَكُمۡ
anfusakum
yourselves
ذَٰلِكُمۡ
dhalikum
That
خَيۡرٞ
khayrun
(is) better
لَّكُمۡ
lakum
for you
عِندَ
inda
with
بَارِئِكُمۡ
bari-ikum
your Creator
فَتَابَ
fataba
Then He turned
عَلَيۡكُمۡۚ
alaykum
towards you
إِنَّهُۥ
innahu
Indeed He
هُوَ
huwa
He
ٱلتَّوَّابُ
al-tawabu
(is) the-returning
ٱلرَّحِيمُ
al-rahimu
the Most Merciful
٥٤
2:55
وَإِذۡ
wa-idh
And when
قُلۡتُمۡ
qul'tum
you said
يَٰمُوسَىٰ
yamusa
O Musa
لَن
lan
Never
نُّؤۡمِنَ
nu'mina
(will) we believe
لَكَ
laka
in you
حَتَّىٰ
hatta
until
نَرَى
nara
we see
ٱللَّهَ
al-laha
Allah
جَهۡرَةٗ
jahratan
manifestly
فَأَخَذَتۡكُمُ
fa-akhadhatkumu
So seized you
ٱلصَّٰعِقَةُ
al-sa'iqatu
the thunderbolt
وَأَنتُمۡ
wa-antum
while you
تَنظُرُونَ
tanzuruna
(were) looking
٥٥
2:56
ثُمَّ
thumma
Then
بَعَثۡنَٰكُم
ba'athnakum
We revived you
مِّنۢ
min
from
بَعۡدِ
ba'di
after
مَوۡتِكُمۡ
mawtikum
your death
لَعَلَّكُمۡ
la'allakum
so that you may
تَشۡكُرُونَ
tashkuruna
(be) grateful
٥٦
2:57
وَظَلَّلۡنَا
wazallalna
And We shaded
عَلَيۡكُمُ
alaykumu
[over] you
ٱلۡغَمَامَ
al-ghamama
(with) [the] clouds
وَأَنزَلۡنَا
wa-anzalna
and We sent down
عَلَيۡكُمُ
alaykumu
to you
ٱلۡمَنَّ
al-mana
[the] manna
وَٱلسَّلۡوَىٰۖ
wal-salwa
and [the] quails
كُلُواْ
kulu
Eat
مِن
min
from
طَيِّبَٰتِ
tayyibati
(the) good things
مَا
ma
that
رَزَقۡنَٰكُمۡۚ
razaqnakum
We have provided you
وَمَا
wama
And not
ظَلَمُونَا
zalamuna
they wronged Us
وَلَٰكِن
walakin
but
كَانُوٓاْ
kanu
they were
أَنفُسَهُمۡ
anfusahum
(to) themselves
يَظۡلِمُونَ
yazlimuna
doing wrong

2:58
وَإِذۡ
wa-idh
And when
قُلۡنَا
qul'na
We said
ٱدۡخُلُواْ
ud'khulu
Enter
هَٰذِهِ
hadhihi
this
ٱلۡقَرۡيَةَ
al-qaryata
town
فَكُلُواْ
fakulu
then eat
مِنۡهَا
min'ha
from
حَيۡثُ
haythu
wherever
شِئۡتُمۡ
shi'tum
you wish[ed]
رَغَدٗا
raghadan
abundantly
وَٱدۡخُلُواْ
wa-ud'khulu
and enter
ٱلۡبَابَ
al-baba
the gate
سُجَّدٗا
sujjadan
prostrating
وَقُولُواْ
waqulu
And say
حِطَّةٞ
hittatun
Repentance
نَّغۡفِرۡ
naghfir
We will forgive
لَكُمۡ
lakum
for you
خَطَٰيَٰكُمۡۚ
khatayakum
your sins
وَسَنَزِيدُ
wasanazidu
And We will increase
ٱلۡمُحۡسِنِينَ
al-muh'sinina
the good-doers (in reward)
٥٨
2:59
فَبَدَّلَ
fabaddala
But changed
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhina
those who
ظَلَمُواْ
zalamu
wronged
قَوۡلًا
qawlan
(the) word
غَيۡرَ
ghayra
other (than)
ٱلَّذِي
alladhi
(that) which
قِيلَ
qila
was said
لَهُمۡ
lahum
to them
فَأَنزَلۡنَا
fa-anzalna
so We sent down
عَلَى
ala
upon
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhina
those who
ظَلَمُواْ
zalamu
wronged
رِجۡزٗا
rij'zan
a punishment
مِّنَ
mina
from
ٱلسَّمَآءِ
al-samai
the sky
بِمَا
bima
because
كَانُواْ
kanu
they were
يَفۡسُقُونَ
yafsuquna
defiantly disobeying
٥٩
