One of the 240 subdivisions of the Quran (quarter of a Hizb)

44:17

۞وَلَقَدۡ

Wa-laq̣ad

And certainly

فَتَنَّا

fatannaa

We tried

قَبۡلَهُمۡ

q̣ablahum

before them

قَوۡمَ

q̣awma

(the) people

فِرۡعَوۡنَ

Firʻawna

(of) Firaun

وَجَآءَهُمۡ

wa-jaaaʹahum

and came to them

رَسُولٞ

Rasooluñ

a Messenger

كَرِيمٌ

Kareem,

noble

١٧

44:18

أَنۡ

ʹAn

That

أَدُّوٓاْ

ʹaddooo

Deliver

إِلَيَّ

ʹilayya

to me

عِبَادَ

ʻibaadal

(the) servants

ٱللَّهِۖ

laah:

(of) Allah

إِنِّي

ʹinnee

Indeed I am

لَكُمۡ

lakum

to you

رَسُولٌ

Rasoolun

a Messenger

أَمِينٞ

ʹameen;

trustworthy

44:19

وَأَن

Wa-ʹal

And that

لَّا

laa

(do) not

تَعۡلُواْ

taʻloo

exalt yourselves

عَلَى

ʻalal

against

ٱللَّهِۖ

laah:

Allah

إِنِّيٓ

ʹinneee

Indeed I

ءَاتِيكُم

ʹaateekum̃

[I] have come to you

بِسُلۡطَٰنٖ

bisulṭaanim

with an authority

مُّبِينٖ

mubeen.

44:20

وَإِنِّي

Wa-ʹinnee

And indeed I

عُذۡتُ

ʻuẓtu

[I] seek refuge

بِرَبِّي

bi-Rabbee

with my Lord

وَرَبِّكُمۡ

wa-Rabbikum

and your Lord

أَن

ʹañ

lest

تَرۡجُمُونِ

tarjumoon.

you stone me

٢٠

44:21

وَإِن

Wa-ʹil

And if

لَّمۡ

lam

not

تُؤۡمِنُواْ

tuʹminoo

you believe

لِي

lee

فَٱعۡتَزِلُونِ

faʻtaziloon.

then leave me alone

٢١

44:22

فَدَعَا

Fadaʻaa

So he called

رَبَّهُۥٓ

Rabbahooo

his Lord

أَنَّ

ʹanna

That

هَٰٓؤُلَآءِ

haaaʹulaaaʹi

these

قَوۡمٞ

q̣awmum

(are) a people

مُّجۡرِمُونَ

mujrimoon.

criminals

٢٢

44:23

فَأَسۡرِ

Faʹasri

Then Set out

بِعِبَادِي

biʹibaadee

with My slaves

لَيۡلًا

laylan

(by) night

إِنَّكُم

ʹinnakum

Indeed you

مُّتَّبَعُونَ

muttabaʻoon.

(will be) followed

٢٣

44:24

وَٱتۡرُكِ

Watrukil

And leave

ٱلۡبَحۡرَ

baḥra

the sea

رَهۡوًاۖ

rahwaa:

at rest

إِنَّهُمۡ

ʹinnahum

Indeed they

جُندٞ

juñdum

(are) an army

مُّغۡرَقُونَ

mug̣raq̣oon.

(to be) drowned

٢٤

44:25

كَمۡ

Kam

How many

تَرَكُواْ

tarakoo

(did) they leave

مِن

miñ

جَنَّٰتٖ

jannaatiñw

gardens

وَعُيُونٖ

waʻuyoon,

and springs

٢٥

44:26

وَزُرُوعٖ

Wa-zurooʻiñw

And cornfields

وَمَقَامٖ

Wamaq̣aamiñ

and places

كَرِيمٖ

kareem,

noble

٢٦

44:27

وَنَعۡمَةٖ

Wa-naʻmatiñ

And pleasant things

كَانُواْ

kaanoo

they used to

فِيهَا

feehaa

therein

فَٰكِهِينَ

faakiheen!

take delight

٢٧

44:28

كَذَٰلِكَۖ

Kaẓaalik!

Thus

وَأَوۡرَثۡنَٰهَا

wa-ʹawras̤naahaa

And We made it (an) inherit(ance)

قَوۡمًا

q̣awman

(for) a people

ءَاخَرِينَ

ʹaakhareen!

another

٢٨

44:29

فَمَا

Famaa

And not

بَكَتۡ

bakat

wept

عَلَيۡهِمُ

ʻalayhimus

for them

ٱلسَّمَآءُ

samaaaʹu

the heaven

وَٱلۡأَرۡضُ

wal-ʹarḍu

and the earth

وَمَا

wa-maa

and not

كَانُواْ

kaanoo

they were

مُنظَرِينَ

muñz̤̣areen.

given respite

٢٩

44:30

وَلَقَدۡ

Wa-laq̣ad

And certainly

نَجَّيۡنَا

najjaynaa

We saved

بَنِيٓ

Baneee

(the) Children of Israel

إِسۡرَٰٓءِيلَ

ʹIsraaaʹeela

(the) Children of Israel

مِنَ

minal

from

ٱلۡعَذَابِ

ʻaẓaabil

the punishment

ٱلۡمُهِينِ

muheen.

the humiliating

٣٠

44:31

مِن

Miñ

From

فِرۡعَوۡنَۚ

Firʻawn:

Firaun

إِنَّهُۥ

ʹinnahoo

Indeed he

كَانَ

kaana

was

عَالِيٗا

ʻaaliyam

arrogant

مِّنَ

minal

among

ٱلۡمُسۡرِفِينَ

musrifeen.

the transgressors

٣١

44:32

وَلَقَدِ

Wa-laq̣adikh

And certainly

ٱخۡتَرۡنَٰهُمۡ

tarnaahum

We chose them

عَلَىٰ

ʻalaa

عِلۡمٍ

ʻilmin

knowledge

عَلَى

ʻalal

over

ٱلۡعَٰلَمِينَ

ʻaalameen,

the worlds

٣٢

44:33

وَءَاتَيۡنَٰهُم

Waʹaataynaahum

And We gave them

مِّنَ

minal

ٱلۡأٓيَٰتِ

ʹAayaati

the Signs

مَا

maa-

that

فِيهِ

feehi

in it

بَلَٰٓؤٞاْ

balaaaʹum

(was) a trial

مُّبِينٌ

mubeen.

clear

44:34

إِنَّ

ʹInna

Indeed

هَٰٓؤُلَآءِ

haaaʹulaaaʹi

these

لَيَقُولُونَ

layaq̣ooloon,

surely they say

٣٤

44:35

إِنۡ

ʹIn

Not

هِيَ

hiya

إِلَّا

ʹillaa

(is) but

مَوۡتَتُنَا

mawtatunal

our death

ٱلۡأُولَىٰ

ʹoolaa

the first

وَمَا

wa-maa

and not

نَحۡنُ

naḥnu

بِمُنشَرِينَ

bimuñshareen.

(will be) raised again

٣٥

44:36

فَأۡتُواْ

Faʹtoo

Then bring

بِـَٔابَآئِنَآ

biʹaabaaaʹinaaa

our forefathers

إِن

ʹiñ

كُنتُمۡ

kuñtum

you are

صَٰدِقِينَ

ṣaadiq̣een!

truthful

٣٦

44:37

أَهُمۡ

ʹAhum

Are they

خَيۡرٌ

khayrun

better

أَمۡ

ʹam

قَوۡمُ

q̣awmu

(the) people

تُبَّعٖ

Tubbaʻiñw

(of) Tubba

وَٱلَّذِينَ

wallaẓeena

and those

مِن

miñ

before them

قَبۡلِهِمۡ

q̣ablihim?

before them

أَهۡلَكۡنَٰهُمۡۚ

ʹAhlaknaahum

We destroyed them

إِنَّهُمۡ

ʹinnahum

indeed they

كَانُواْ

kaanoo

were

مُجۡرِمِينَ

mujrimeen.

criminals

٣٧

44:38

وَمَا

Wa-maa

And not

خَلَقۡنَا

khalaq̣nas

We created

ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ

samaawaati

the heavens

وَٱلۡأَرۡضَ

wal-ʹarḍa

and the earth

وَمَا

wa-maa

and whatever

بَيۡنَهُمَا

baynahumaa

(is) between them

لَٰعِبِينَ

laaʻibeen.

(in) play

٣٨

44:39

مَا

Maa-

Not

خَلَقۡنَٰهُمَآ

khalaq̣naahumaaa

We created both of them

إِلَّا

ʹillaa

but

بِٱلۡحَقِّ

bilḥaq̣q̣i

in [the] truth

وَلَٰكِنَّ

wa-laakinna

but

أَكۡثَرَهُمۡ

ʹaks̤arahum

most of them

لَا

laa-

(do) not

يَعۡلَمُونَ

yaʻlamoon.

إِنَّ

ʹInna

Indeed

يَوۡمَ

Yawmal

(the) Day of Judgment

ٱلۡفَصۡلِ

faṣli

(the) Day of Judgment

مِيقَٰتُهُمۡ

meeq̣aatuhum

(is) an appointed term for them

أَجۡمَعِينَ

ʹajmaʻeen.―

all

44:41

يَوۡمَ

Yawma

(The) Day

لَا

laa-

not

يُغۡنِي

yug̣nee

will avail

مَوۡلًى

mawlan

a relation

عَن

ʻam

for

مَّوۡلٗى

mawlañ

a relation

شَيۡـٔٗا

shayʹañw

anything

وَلَا

walaa

and not

هُمۡ

hum

they

يُنصَرُونَ

yuñṣaroon,

will be helped
