One of the 240 subdivisions of the Quran (quarter of a Hizb)

38:52

۞وَعِندَهُمۡ

Wa-ʻiñdahum

And with them

قَٰصِرَٰتُ

q̣aaṣiratuṭ

(will be) companions of modest gaze

ٱلطَّرۡفِ

ṭarfi

(will be) companions of modest gaze

أَتۡرَابٌ

ʹatraab.

well-matched

٥٢

38:53

هَٰذَا

Haaẓaa

This

مَا

maa-

(is) what

تُوعَدُونَ

tooʻadoona

you are promised

لِيَوۡمِ

li-Yawmil

for (the) Day

ٱلۡحِسَابِ

Ḥisaab!

(of) Account

٥٣

38:54

إِنَّ

ʹInna

Indeed

هَٰذَا

haaẓaa

this

لَرِزۡقُنَا

la-Rizq̣unaa

(is) surely Our provision

مَا

maa-

not

لَهُۥ

lahoo

for it

مِن

min

any

نَّفَادٍ

nafaad.

depletion

٥٤

38:55

هَٰذَاۚ

Haaẓaa!

This (is so)

وَإِنَّ

Wa-ʹinna

And indeed

لِلطَّٰغِينَ

liṭṭaag̣eena

for the transgressors

لَشَرَّ

lasharra

surely (is) an evil

مَـَٔابٖ

maʹaab!―

place of return

٥٥

38:56

جَهَنَّمَ

Jahannama

Hell

يَصۡلَوۡنَهَا

Yaṣlawnahaa

they will burn therein

فَبِئۡسَ

fabiʹsal

and wretched (is)

ٱلۡمِهَادُ

mihaad!

the resting place

٥٦

38:57

هَٰذَا

Haaẓaa

This (is so)

فَلۡيَذُوقُوهُ

falyaẓooq̣oohu

Then let them taste it

حَمِيمٞ

ḥameemuñw

boiling fluid

وَغَسَّاقٞ

wag̣assaaq̣!

and purulence

٥٧

38:58

وَءَاخَرُ

Wa-ʹaakharu

And other

مِن

miñ

شَكۡلِهِۦٓ

shakliheee

its type

أَزۡوَٰجٌ

ʹazwaaj!

(of various) kinds

٥٨

38:59

هَٰذَا

Haaẓaa

This

فَوۡجٞ

fawjum

(is) a company

مُّقۡتَحِمٞ

muq̣taḥimum

bursting

مَّعَكُمۡ

maʻakum!

(in) with you

لَا

Laa-

مَرۡحَبَۢا

marḥabam

welcome

بِهِمۡۚ

bihim!

for them

إِنَّهُمۡ

ʹInnahum

Indeed they

صَالُواْ

ṣaalun

(will) burn

ٱلنَّارِ

Naar!

(in) the Fire

38:60

قَالُواْ

Q̣aaloo

They say

بَلۡ

bal

Nay

أَنتُمۡ

ʹañtum!

You

لَا

Laa-

مَرۡحَبَۢا

marḥabam

welcome

بِكُمۡۖ

bikum!

for you

أَنتُمۡ

ʹAñtum

You

قَدَّمۡتُمُوهُ

q̣addamtumoohu

brought this

لَنَاۖ

lanaa!

upon us

فَبِئۡسَ

Fabiʹsal

So wretched (is)

ٱلۡقَرَارُ

q̣araar!

the settlement

٦٠

38:61

قَالُواْ

Q̣aaloo

They will say

رَبَّنَا

Rabbanaa

Our Lord

مَن

mañ

whoever

قَدَّمَ

q̣addama

brought

لَنَا

lanaa

upon us

هَٰذَا

haaẓaa

this

فَزِدۡهُ

fazidhu

increase for him

عَذَابٗا

ʻAẓaabañ

a punishment

ضِعۡفٗا

ḍiʻfañ

double

فِي

fin

ٱلنَّارِ

Naar!

the Fire

38:62

وَقَالُواْ

Waq̣aaloo

And they (will) say

مَا

maa-

What (is)

لَنَا

lanaa

for us

لَا

laa-

not

نَرَىٰ

naraa

we see

رِجَالٗا

rijaalañ

men

كُنَّا

kunnaa

we used to

نَعُدُّهُم

naʻudduhum

count them

مِّنَ

minal

among

ٱلۡأَشۡرَارِ

ʹashraar?

the bad ones

٦٢

38:63

أَتَّخَذۡنَٰهُمۡ

ʹAttakhaẓnaahum

Did we take them

سِخۡرِيًّا

sikhriyyan

(in) ridicule

أَمۡ

ʹam

زَاغَتۡ

zaag̣at

has turned away

عَنۡهُمُ

ʻanhumul

from them

ٱلۡأَبۡصَٰرُ

ʹabṣaar?

the vision

٦٣

38:64

إِنَّ

ʹInna

Indeed

ذَٰلِكَ

ẓaalika

that

لَحَقّٞ

laḥaq̣q̣uñ

(is) surely (the) truth

تَخَاصُمُ

takhaaṣumu

(the) quarreling

أَهۡلِ

ʹAhlin

(of the) people

ٱلنَّارِ

Naar!

(of) the Fire

٦٤

38:65

قُلۡ

Q̣ul

Say

إِنَّمَآ

ʹInnamaaa

Only

أَنَا۠

ʹana

I am

مُنذِرٞۖ

Muñẓir:

a warner

وَمَا

wa-maa

and not

مِنۡ

min

(is there) any

إِلَٰهٍ

ʹilaahin

god

إِلَّا

ʹillal

except

ٱللَّهُ

laahul

Allah

ٱلۡوَٰحِدُ

Waaḥidul

the One

ٱلۡقَهَّارُ

Q̣ahhaar,―

the Irresistible

٦٥

38:66

رَبُّ

Rabbus

Lord

ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ

samaawaati

(of) the heavens

وَٱلۡأَرۡضِ

wal-ʹarḍi

and the earth

وَمَا

wa-maa

and whatever

بَيۡنَهُمَا

baynahumal

(is) between them

ٱلۡعَزِيزُ

ʻAzeezul

the All-Mighty

ٱلۡغَفَّٰرُ

G̣affaar.

the Oft-Forgiving

٦٦

38:67

قُلۡ

Q̣ul

Say

هُوَ

huwa

It (is)

نَبَؤٌاْ

Nabaʹun

a news

عَظِيمٌ

ʻAz̤̣eem,

great

٦٧

38:68

أَنتُمۡ

ʹAñtum

You

عَنۡهُ

ʻanhu

from it

مُعۡرِضُونَ

muʻriḍoon!

turn away

٦٨

38:69

مَا

Maa-

Not

كَانَ

kaana

لِيَ

liya

for me

مِنۡ

min

any

عِلۡمِۭ

ʻilmim

knowledge

بِٱلۡمَلَإِ

bil-malaʹil

(of) the chiefs

ٱلۡأَعۡلَىٰٓ

ʹaʻlaaa

the exalted

إِذۡ

ʹiẓ

when

يَخۡتَصِمُونَ

yakhtaṣimoon.

they were disputing

٦٩

38:70

إِن

ʹIñy

Not

يُوحَىٰٓ

yooḥaaa

has been revealed

إِلَيَّ

ʹilayya

to me

إِلَّآ

ʹillaaa

except

أَنَّمَآ

ʹannamaaa

that only

أَنَا۠

ʹana

I am

نَذِيرٞ

Naẓeerum

a warner

مُّبِينٌ

mubeen.

clear

38:71

إِذۡ

ʹIẓ

When

قَالَ

q̣aala

said

رَبُّكَ

Rabbuka

your Lord

لِلۡمَلَٰٓئِكَةِ

lilmalaaaʹikati

to the Angels

إِنِّي

ʹinnee

Indeed I Am

خَٰلِقُۢ

khaaliq̣um

going to create

بَشَرٗا

basharam

a human being

مِّن

miñ

from

طِينٖ

ṭeen.

clay

٧١

38:72

فَإِذَا

Faʹiẓaa

So when

سَوَّيۡتُهُۥ

sawwaytuhoo

I have proportioned him

وَنَفَخۡتُ

wa-nafakhtu

and breathed

فِيهِ

feehi

into him

مِن

mir

رُّوحِي

Rooḥee

My spirit

فَقَعُواْ

faq̣aʻoo

then fall down

لَهُۥ

lahoo

to him

سَٰجِدِينَ

saajideen.

prostrating

٧٢

38:73

فَسَجَدَ

Fasajadal

So prostrated

ٱلۡمَلَٰٓئِكَةُ

malaaaʹikatu

the Angels

كُلُّهُمۡ

kulluhum

all of them

أَجۡمَعُونَ

ʹajmaʻoon:

together

٧٣

38:74

إِلَّآ

ʹIllaaa

Except

إِبۡلِيسَ

ʹIblees;

Iblis

ٱسۡتَكۡبَرَ

ʹistakbara

he was arrogant

وَكَانَ

wa-kaana

and became

مِنَ

minal

ٱلۡكَٰفِرِينَ

kaafireen.

the disbelievers

٧٤

38:75

قَالَ

Q̣aala

He said

يَٰٓإِبۡلِيسُ

YaaaʹIbleesu

O Iblis

مَا

maa-

What

مَنَعَكَ

manaʻaka

prevented you

أَن

ʹañ

that

تَسۡجُدَ

tasjuda

you (should) prostrate

لِمَا

limaa

to (one) whom

خَلَقۡتُ

khalaq̣tu

I created

بِيَدَيَّۖ

biyadayy?

with My Hands

أَسۡتَكۡبَرۡتَ

ʹAs-takbarta

Are you arrogant

أَمۡ

ʹam

كُنتَ

kuñta

are you

مِنَ

min

ٱلۡعَالِينَ

alʻaaleen?

the exalted ones

٧٥

38:76

قَالَ

Q̣aala

He said

أَنَا۠

ʹana

I am

خَيۡرٞ

khayrum

better

مِّنۡهُ

minh:

than him

خَلَقۡتَنِي

khalaq̣tanee

You created me

مِن

min

from

نَّارٖ

naariñw

fire

وَخَلَقۡتَهُۥ

wakhalaq̣tahoo

and You created him

مِن

miñ

from

طِينٖ

ṭeen.

clay
