۞أَلَمۡ
alam
Did not
تَرَ
tara
you see
إِلَى
ila
[to]
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhina
those who
خَرَجُواْ
kharaju
went out
مِن
min
from
دِيَٰرِهِمۡ
diyarihim
their homes
وَهُمۡ
wahum
and they
أُلُوفٌ
ulufun
(were in) thousands
حَذَرَ
hadhara
(in) fear
ٱلۡمَوۡتِ
al-mawti
(of) [the] death
فَقَالَ
faqala
Then said
لَهُمُ
lahumu
to them
ٱللَّهُ
al-lahu
Allah
مُوتُواْ
mutu
Die
ثُمَّ
thumma
then
أَحۡيَٰهُمۡۚ
ahyahum
He restored them to life
إِنَّ
inna
Indeed
ٱللَّهَ
al-laha
Allah
لَذُو
ladhu
(is) surely Possessor
فَضۡلٍ
fadlin
(of) bounty
عَلَى
ala
for
ٱلنَّاسِ
al-nasi
[the] mankind
وَلَٰكِنَّ
walakinna
[and] but
أَكۡثَرَ
akthara
most
ٱلنَّاسِ
al-nasi
(of) the people
لَا
la
(are) not
يَشۡكُرُونَ
yashkuruna
grateful
٢٤٣
2:244
وَقَٰتِلُواْ
waqatilu
And fight
فِي
fi
in
سَبِيلِ
sabili
(the) way
ٱللَّهِ
al-lahi
(of) Allah
وَٱعۡلَمُوٓاْ
wa-i'lamu
and know
أَنَّ
anna
that
ٱللَّهَ
al-laha
Allah
سَمِيعٌ
sami'un
(is) All-Hearing
عَلِيمٞ
alimun
All-Knowing
٢٤٤
2:245
مَّن
man
Who
ذَا
dha
(is) the one
ٱلَّذِي
alladhi
who
يُقۡرِضُ
yuq'ridu
will lend
ٱللَّهَ
al-laha
(to) Allah
قَرۡضًا
qardan
a loan
حَسَنٗا
hasanan
good
فَيُضَٰعِفَهُۥ
fayuda'ifahu
so (that) He multiplies it
لَهُۥٓ
lahu
for him
أَضۡعَافٗا
ad'afan
manifolds
كَثِيرَةٗۚ
kathiratan
many
وَٱللَّهُ
wal-lahu
And Allah
يَقۡبِضُ
yaqbidu
withholds
وَيَبۡصُۜطُ
wayabsutu
and grants abundance
وَإِلَيۡهِ
wa-ilayhi
and to Him
تُرۡجَعُونَ
tur'ja'una
you will be returned

أَلَمۡ
alam
Did not
تَرَ
tara
you see
إِلَى
ila
[towards]
ٱلۡمَلَإِ
al-mala-i
the chiefs
مِنۢ
min
of
بَنِيٓ
bani
(the) Children
إِسۡرَٰٓءِيلَ
is'raila
(of) Israel
مِنۢ
min
from
بَعۡدِ
ba'di
after
مُوسَىٰٓ
musa
Musa
إِذۡ
idh
when
قَالُواْ
qalu
they said
لِنَبِيّٖ
linabiyyin
to a Prophet
لَّهُمُ
lahumu
of theirs
ٱبۡعَثۡ
ib'ath
Appoint
لَنَا
lana
for us
مَلِكٗا
malikan
a king
نُّقَٰتِلۡ
nuqatil
we may fight
فِي
fi
in
سَبِيلِ
sabili
(the) way
ٱللَّهِۖ
al-lahi
(of) Allah
قَالَ
qala
He said
هَلۡ
hal
Would
عَسَيۡتُمۡ
asaytum
you perhaps
إِن
in
if
كُتِبَ
kutiba
prescribed
عَلَيۡكُمُ
alaykumu
upon you
ٱلۡقِتَالُ
al-qitalu
[the] fighting
أَلَّا
alla
that not
تُقَٰتِلُواْۖ
tuqatilu
you fight
قَالُواْ
qalu
They said
وَمَا
wama
And what
لَنَآ
lana
for us
أَلَّا
alla
that not
نُقَٰتِلَ
nuqatila
we fight
فِي
fi
in
سَبِيلِ
sabili
(the) way
ٱللَّهِ
al-lahi
(of) Allah
وَقَدۡ
waqad
while surely
أُخۡرِجۡنَا
ukh'rij'na
we have been driven
مِن
min
from
دِيَٰرِنَا
diyarina
our homes
وَأَبۡنَآئِنَاۖ
wa-abnaina
and our children
فَلَمَّا
falamma
Yet when
كُتِبَ
kutiba
was prescribed
عَلَيۡهِمُ
alayhimu
upon them
ٱلۡقِتَالُ
al-qitalu
the fighting
تَوَلَّوۡاْ
tawallaw
they turned away
إِلَّا
illa
except
قَلِيلٗا
qalilan
a few
مِّنۡهُمۡۚ
min'hum
among them
وَٱللَّهُ
wal-lahu
And Allah
عَلِيمُۢ
alimun
(is) All-Knowing
بِٱلظَّٰلِمِينَ
bil-zalimina
of the wrongdoers
٢٤٦
2:247
وَقَالَ
waqala
And said
لَهُمۡ
lahum
to them
نَبِيُّهُمۡ
nabiyyuhum
their Prophet
إِنَّ
inna
Indeed
ٱللَّهَ
al-laha
Allah
قَدۡ
qad
(has) surely
بَعَثَ
ba'atha
raised
لَكُمۡ
lakum
for you
طَالُوتَ
taluta
Talut
مَلِكٗاۚ
malikan
(as) a king
قَالُوٓاْ
qalu
They said
أَنَّىٰ
anna
How
يَكُونُ
yakunu
can be
لَهُ
lahu
for him
ٱلۡمُلۡكُ
al-mul'ku
the kingship
عَلَيۡنَا
alayna
over us
وَنَحۡنُ
wanahnu
while we
أَحَقُّ
ahaqqu
(are) more entitled
بِٱلۡمُلۡكِ
bil-mul'ki
to kingship
مِنۡهُ
min'hu
than him
وَلَمۡ
walam
and not
يُؤۡتَ
yu'ta
he has been given
سَعَةٗ
sa'atan
abundance
مِّنَ
mina
of
ٱلۡمَالِۚ
al-mali
[the] wealth
قَالَ
qala
He said
إِنَّ
inna
Indeed
ٱللَّهَ
al-laha
Allah
ٱصۡطَفَىٰهُ
is'tafahu
has chosen him
عَلَيۡكُمۡ
alaykum
over you
وَزَادَهُۥ
wazadahu
and increased him
بَسۡطَةٗ
bastatan
abundantly
فِي
fi
in
ٱلۡعِلۡمِ
al-'il'mi
[the] knowledge
وَٱلۡجِسۡمِۖ
wal-jis'mi
and [the] physique
وَٱللَّهُ
wal-lahu
And Allah
يُؤۡتِي
yu'ti
gives
مُلۡكَهُۥ
mul'kahu
His kingdom
مَن
man
(to) whom
يَشَآءُۚ
yashau
He wills
وَٱللَّهُ
wal-lahu
And Allah
وَٰسِعٌ
wasi'un
(is) All-Encompassing
عَلِيمٞ
alimun
All-Knowing
٢٤٧
2:248
وَقَالَ
waqala
And said
لَهُمۡ
lahum
to them
نَبِيُّهُمۡ
nabiyyuhum
their Prophet
إِنَّ
inna
Indeed
ءَايَةَ
ayata
a sign
مُلۡكِهِۦٓ
mul'kihi
(of) his kingship
أَن
an
(is) that
يَأۡتِيَكُمُ
yatiyakumu
will come to you
ٱلتَّابُوتُ
al-tabutu
the ark
فِيهِ
fihi
in it
سَكِينَةٞ
sakinatun
(is) tranquility
مِّن
min
from
رَّبِّكُمۡ
rabbikum
your Lord
وَبَقِيَّةٞ
wabaqiyyatun
and a remnant
مِّمَّا
mimma
of what
تَرَكَ
taraka
(was) left
ءَالُ
alu
(by the) family
مُوسَىٰ
musa
(of) Musa
وَءَالُ
waalu
and family
هَٰرُونَ
haruna
(of) Harun
تَحۡمِلُهُ
tahmiluhu
will carry it
ٱلۡمَلَٰٓئِكَةُۚ
al-malaikatu
the Angels
إِنَّ
inna
Indeed
فِي
fi
in
ذَٰلِكَ
dhalika
that
لَأٓيَةٗ
laayatan
(is) surely a sign
لَّكُمۡ
lakum
for you
إِن
in
if
كُنتُم
kuntum
you are
مُّؤۡمِنِينَ
mu'minina
believers
٢٤٨

2:249
فَلَمَّا
falamma
Then when
فَصَلَ
fasala
set out
طَالُوتُ
talutu
Talut
بِٱلۡجُنُودِ
bil-junudi
with the forces
قَالَ
qala
he said
إِنَّ
inna
Indeed
ٱللَّهَ
al-laha
Allah
مُبۡتَلِيكُم
mub'talikum
will test you
بِنَهَرٖ
binaharin
with a river
فَمَن
faman
So whoever
شَرِبَ
shariba
drinks
مِنۡهُ
min'hu
from it
فَلَيۡسَ
falaysa
then he is not
مِنِّي
minni
from me
وَمَن
waman
and whoever
لَّمۡ
lam
(does) not
يَطۡعَمۡهُ
yat'amhu
taste it
فَإِنَّهُۥ
fa-innahu
then indeed he
مِنِّيٓ
minni
(is) from me
إِلَّا
illa
except
مَنِ
mani
whoever
ٱغۡتَرَفَ
igh'tarafa
takes
غُرۡفَةَۢ
ghur'fatan
(in the) hollow
بِيَدِهِۦۚ
biyadihi
(of) his hand
فَشَرِبُواْ
fasharibu
Then they drank
مِنۡهُ
min'hu
from it
إِلَّا
illa
except
قَلِيلٗا
qalilan
a few
مِّنۡهُمۡۚ
min'hum
of them
فَلَمَّا
falamma
Then when
جَاوَزَهُۥ
jawazahu
he crossed it
هُوَ
huwa
he
وَٱلَّذِينَ
wa-alladhina
and those who
ءَامَنُواْ
amanu
believed
مَعَهُۥ
ma'ahu
with him
قَالُواْ
qalu
they said
لَا
la
No
طَاقَةَ
taqata
strength
لَنَا
lana
for us
ٱلۡيَوۡمَ
al-yawma
today
بِجَالُوتَ
bijaluta
against Jalut
وَجُنُودِهِۦۚ
wajunudihi
and his troops
قَالَ
qala
Said
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhina
those who
يَظُنُّونَ
yazunnuna
were certain
أَنَّهُم
annahum
that they
مُّلَٰقُواْ
mulaqu
(would) meet
ٱللَّهِ
al-lahi
Allah
كَم
kam
How many
مِّن
min
of
فِئَةٖ
fi-atin
a company
قَلِيلَةٍ
qalilatin
small
غَلَبَتۡ
ghalabat
overcame
فِئَةٗ
fi-atan
a company
كَثِيرَةَۢ
kathiratan
large
بِإِذۡنِ
bi-idh'ni
by (the) permission
ٱللَّهِۗ
al-lahi
(of) Allah
وَٱللَّهُ
wal-lahu
And Allah
مَعَ
ma'a
(is) with
ٱلصَّٰبِرِينَ
al-sabirina
the patient ones
٢٤٩
2:250
وَلَمَّا
walamma
And when
بَرَزُواْ
barazu
they went forth
لِجَالُوتَ
lijaluta
to (face) Jalut
وَجُنُودِهِۦ
wajunudihi
and his troops
قَالُواْ
qalu
they said
رَبَّنَآ
rabbana
Our Lord
أَفۡرِغۡ
afrigh
Pour
عَلَيۡنَا
alayna
on us
صَبۡرٗا
sabran
patience
وَثَبِّتۡ
wathabbit
and make firm
أَقۡدَامَنَا
aqdamana
our feet
وَٱنصُرۡنَا
wa-unsur'na
and help us
عَلَى
ala
against
ٱلۡقَوۡمِ
al-qawmi
the people
ٱلۡكَٰفِرِينَ
al-kafirina
(who are) disbelieving
٢٥٠
2:251
فَهَزَمُوهُم
fahazamuhum
So they defeated them
بِإِذۡنِ
bi-idh'ni
by (the) permission
ٱللَّهِ
al-lahi
(of) Allah
وَقَتَلَ
waqatala
and killed
دَاوُۥدُ
dawudu
Dawood
جَالُوتَ
jaluta
Jalut
وَءَاتَىٰهُ
waatahu
and gave him
ٱللَّهُ
al-lahu
Allah
ٱلۡمُلۡكَ
al-mul'ka
the kingdom
وَٱلۡحِكۡمَةَ
wal-hik'mata
and the wisdom
وَعَلَّمَهُۥ
wa'allamahu
and taught him
مِمَّا
mimma
that which
يَشَآءُۗ
yashau
He willed
وَلَوۡلَا
walawla
And if not
دَفۡعُ
daf'u
(for the) repelling
ٱللَّهِ
al-lahi
(by) Allah
ٱلنَّاسَ
al-nasa
[the] people
بَعۡضَهُم
ba'dahum
some of them
بِبَعۡضٖ
biba'din
with others
لَّفَسَدَتِ
lafasadati
certainly (would have) corrupted
ٱلۡأَرۡضُ
al-ardu
the Earth
وَلَٰكِنَّ
walakinna
[and] but
ٱللَّهَ
al-laha
Allah
ذُو
dhu
(is) Possessor
فَضۡلٍ
fadlin
(of) bounty
عَلَى
ala
to
ٱلۡعَٰلَمِينَ
al-'alamina
the worlds
٢٥١
2:252
تِلۡكَ
til'ka
These
ءَايَٰتُ
ayatu
(are the) Verses
ٱللَّهِ
al-lahi
(of) Allah
نَتۡلُوهَا
natluha
We recite them
عَلَيۡكَ
alayka
to you
بِٱلۡحَقِّۚ
bil-haqi
in [the] truth
وَإِنَّكَ
wa-innaka
And indeed you
لَمِنَ
lamina
(are) surely of
ٱلۡمُرۡسَلِينَ
al-mur'salina
the Messengers
٢٥٢
