One of the 240 subdivisions of the Quran (quarter of a Hizb)

28:51

۞وَلَقَدۡ

Wa-laq̣ad

And indeed

وَصَّلۡنَا

waṣṣalnaa

We have conveyed

لَهُمُ

lahumul

to them

ٱلۡقَوۡلَ

Q̣awla

the Word

لَعَلَّهُمۡ

laʻallahum

so that they may

يَتَذَكَّرُونَ

yataẓakkaroon.

remember

٥١

28:52

ٱلَّذِينَ

ʹAllaẓeena

Those who

ءَاتَيۡنَٰهُمُ

ʹaataynaahumul

We gave them

ٱلۡكِتَٰبَ

Kitaaba

the Scripture

مِن

miñ

before it

قَبۡلِهِۦ

q̣ablihee

before it

هُم

hum̃

they

بِهِۦ

bihee

in it

يُؤۡمِنُونَ

yuʹminoon;

believe

٥٢

28:53

وَإِذَا

Wa-ʹiẓaa

And when

يُتۡلَىٰ

yutlaa

it is recited

عَلَيۡهِمۡ

ʻalayhim

to them

قَالُوٓاْ

q̣aalooo

they say

ءَامَنَّا

ʹaamannaa

We believe

بِهِۦٓ

biheee

in it

إِنَّهُ

ʹinnahul

Indeed it

ٱلۡحَقُّ

Ḥaq̣q̣u

(is) the truth

مِن

mir

from

رَّبِّنَآ

Rabbinaaa

our Lord

إِنَّا

ʹinnaa

Indeed we

كُنَّا

kunnaa

[we] were

مِن

miñ

before it

قَبۡلِهِۦ

q̣ablihee

before it

مُسۡلِمِينَ

Muslimeen.

Muslims

٥٣

28:54

أُوْلَٰٓئِكَ

ʹUlaaaʹika

Those

يُؤۡتَوۡنَ

yuʹtawna

will be given

أَجۡرَهُم

ʹajrahum

their reward

مَّرَّتَيۡنِ

marratayni

twice

بِمَا

bimaa

because

صَبَرُواْ

ṣabaroo

they are patient

وَيَدۡرَءُونَ

wa-yadraʹoona

and they repel

بِٱلۡحَسَنَةِ

bil-ḥasanatis

with good

ٱلسَّيِّئَةَ

sayyiʹata

the evil

وَمِمَّا

wa-mimmaa

and from what

رَزَقۡنَٰهُمۡ

razaq̣naahum

We have provided them

يُنفِقُونَ

yuñfiq̣oon.

they spend

٥٤

28:55

وَإِذَا

Wa-ʹiẓaa

And when

سَمِعُواْ

samiʻul

they hear

ٱللَّغۡوَ

lag̣wa

vain talk

أَعۡرَضُواْ

ʹaʻraḍoo

they turn away

عَنۡهُ

ʻanhu

from it

وَقَالُواْ

wa-q̣aaloo

and say

لَنَآ

lanaaa

For us

أَعۡمَٰلُنَا

ʹaʻmaalunaa

our deeds

وَلَكُمۡ

wa-lakum

and for you

أَعۡمَٰلُكُمۡ

ʹaʻmaalukum;

your deeds

سَلَٰمٌ

Salaamun

Peace (be)

عَلَيۡكُمۡ

ʻalaykum:

on you

لَا

laa-

not

نَبۡتَغِي

nabtag̣il

we seek

ٱلۡجَٰهِلِينَ

jaahileen.

the ignorant

٥٥

28:56

إِنَّكَ

ʹInnaka

Indeed you

لَا

laa-

(can) not

تَهۡدِي

tahdee

guide

مَنۡ

man

whom

أَحۡبَبۡتَ

ʹaḥbabta

you love

وَلَٰكِنَّ

wa-laakinnal

but

ٱللَّهَ

laaha

Allah

يَهۡدِي

yahdee

guides

مَن

mañy

whom

يَشَآءُۚ

yashaaaʹ:

He wills

وَهُوَ

wa-Huwa

And He

أَعۡلَمُ

ʹaʻlamu

(is) most knowing

بِٱلۡمُهۡتَدِينَ

bil-muhtadeen.

(of) the guided ones

٥٦

28:57

وَقَالُوٓاْ

Wa-q̣aalooo

And they say

إِن

ʹin

نَّتَّبِعِ

nattabiʻil

we follow

ٱلۡهُدَىٰ

hudaa

the guidance

مَعَكَ

maʻaka

with you

نُتَخَطَّفۡ

nutakhaṭṭaf

we would be swept

مِنۡ

min

from

أَرۡضِنَآۚ

ʹarḍinaa.

our land

أَوَلَمۡ

ʹAwalam

Have not

نُمَكِّن

numakkil

We established

لَّهُمۡ

lahum

for them

حَرَمًا

Ḥaraman

a sanctuary

ءَامِنٗا

ʹaaminañy

secure

يُجۡبَىٰٓ

yujbaaa

are brought

إِلَيۡهِ

ʹilayhi

to it

ثَمَرَٰتُ

s̤amaraatu

fruits

كُلِّ

kulli

(of) all

شَيۡءٖ

shayʹir

things

رِّزۡقٗا

rizq̣am

a provision

مِّن

mil

from

لَّدُنَّا

ladunnaa

وَلَٰكِنَّ

wa-laakinna

But

أَكۡثَرَهُمۡ

ʹaks̤arahum

most of them

لَا

laa-

(do) not

يَعۡلَمُونَ

yaʻlamoon.

know

٥٧

28:58

وَكَمۡ

Wa-kam

And how many

أَهۡلَكۡنَا

ʹahlaknaa

We have destroyed

مِن

miñ

قَرۡيَةِۭ

q̣aryatim

a town

بَطِرَتۡ

baṭirat

which exulted

مَعِيشَتَهَاۖ

maʻeeshatahaa!

(in) its means of livelihood

فَتِلۡكَ

Fatilka

And these

مَسَٰكِنُهُمۡ

masaakinuhum

(are) their dwellings

لَمۡ

lam

not

تُسۡكَن

tuskam

have been inhabited

مِّنۢ

mim

after them

بَعۡدِهِمۡ

baʻdihim

after them

إِلَّا

ʹillaa

except

قَلِيلٗاۖ

q̣aleelaa!

a little

وَكُنَّا

Wa-kunnaa

And indeed [We]

نَحۡنُ

Naḥnul

ٱلۡوَٰرِثِينَ

waaris̤een!

(are) the inheritors

٥٨

28:59

وَمَا

Wa-maa

And not

كَانَ

kaana

was

رَبُّكَ

Rabbuka

your Lord

مُهۡلِكَ

muhlikal

(the) one to destroy

ٱلۡقُرَىٰ

q̣uraa

the towns

حَتَّىٰ

ḥattaa

until

يَبۡعَثَ

yabʻas̤a

He (had) sent

فِيٓ

feee

أُمِّهَا

ʹummihaa

their mother (town)

رَسُولٗا

rasoolañy

a Messenger

يَتۡلُواْ

yatloo

reciting

عَلَيۡهِمۡ

ʻalayhim

to them

ءَايَٰتِنَاۚ

ʹAayaatinaa;

Our Verses

وَمَا

wa-maa

And not

كُنَّا

kunnaa

We would be

مُهۡلِكِي

muhlikil

(the) one to destroy

ٱلۡقُرَىٰٓ

q̣uraaa

the towns

إِلَّا

ʹillaa

except

وَأَهۡلُهَا

wa-ʹahluhaa

while their people

ظَٰلِمُونَ

z̤̣aalimoon.

(were) wrongdoers

28:60

وَمَآ

Wa-maaa

And whatever

أُوتِيتُم

ʹooteetum

you have been given

مِّن

miñ

from

شَيۡءٖ

shayʹiñ

things

فَمَتَٰعُ

famataaʻul

(is) an enjoyment

ٱلۡحَيَوٰةِ

ḥayaatid

(of the) life

ٱلدُّنۡيَا

dunyaa

(of) the world

وَزِينَتُهَاۚ

wa-zeenatuhaa;

and its adornment

وَمَا

wa-maa

And what

عِندَ

ʻiñdal

(is) with

ٱللَّهِ

laahi

Allah

خَيۡرٞ

khayruñw

(is) better

وَأَبۡقَىٰٓۚ

waʹabq̣aa:

and more lasting

أَفَلَا

ʹafalaa

So (will) not

تَعۡقِلُونَ

taʻq̣iloon?

you use intellect

٦٠

28:61

أَفَمَن

ʹAfamañw

Then is (he) whom

وَعَدۡنَٰهُ

waʻadnaahu

We have promised him

وَعۡدًا

waʻdan

a promise

حَسَنٗا

ḥasanañ

good

فَهُوَ

fahuwa

and he

لَٰقِيهِ

laaq̣eehi

(will) meet it

كَمَن

kamam

like (the one) whom

مَّتَّعۡنَٰهُ

mattaʻnaahu

We provided him

مَتَٰعَ

mataaʻal

enjoyment

ٱلۡحَيَوٰةِ

ḥayaatid

(of the) life

ٱلدُّنۡيَا

dunyaa

(of) the world

ثُمَّ

s̤umma

then

هُوَ

huwa

يَوۡمَ

Yawmal

(on the) Day

ٱلۡقِيَٰمَةِ

Q̣iyaamati

(of) the Resurrection

مِنَ

minal

(will be) among

ٱلۡمُحۡضَرِينَ

muḥḍareen?

those presented

٦١

28:62

وَيَوۡمَ

Wa-Yawma

And (the) Day

يُنَادِيهِمۡ

yunaadeehim

He will call them

فَيَقُولُ

fayaq̣oolu

and say

أَيۡنَ

ʹayna

Where

شُرَكَآءِيَ

shurakaaaʹiyal

(are) My partners

ٱلَّذِينَ

laẓeena

whom

كُنتُمۡ

kuñtum

you used (to)

تَزۡعُمُونَ

tazʻumoon?

claim

٦٢

28:63

قَالَ

Q̣aalal

(Will) say

ٱلَّذِينَ

laẓeena

those

حَقَّ

ḥaq̣q̣a

(has) come true

عَلَيۡهِمُ

ʻalayhimul

against whom

ٱلۡقَوۡلُ

q̣awlu

the Word

رَبَّنَا

Rabbanaa

Our Lord

هَٰٓؤُلَآءِ

haaaʹulaaaʹil

These

ٱلَّذِينَ

laẓeena

(are) those whom

أَغۡوَيۡنَآ

ʹag̣waynaa:

we led astray

أَغۡوَيۡنَٰهُمۡ

ʹag̣waynaahum

We led them astray

كَمَا

kamaa

غَوَيۡنَاۖ

g̣awaynaa:

we were astray

تَبَرَّأۡنَآ

tabarraʹnaaa

We declare our innocence

إِلَيۡكَۖ

ʹilayka

before You

مَا

maa-

Not

كَانُوٓاْ

kaanooo

they used (to)

إِيَّانَا

ʹiyyaanaa

worship us

يَعۡبُدُونَ

yaʻbudoon.

worship us

٦٣

28:64

وَقِيلَ

Wa-q̣eelad

And it will be said

ٱدۡعُواْ

ʻoo

Call

شُرَكَآءَكُمۡ

shurakaaaʹakum

your partners

فَدَعَوۡهُمۡ

fadaʻawhum

And they will call them

فَلَمۡ

falam

but not

يَسۡتَجِيبُواْ

yastajeeboo

they will respond

لَهُمۡ

lahum

to them

وَرَأَوُاْ

wa-raʹawul

and they will see

ٱلۡعَذَابَۚ

ʻaẓaaba

the punishment

لَوۡ

law

If only

أَنَّهُمۡ

ʹannahum

[that] they

كَانُواْ

kaanoo

had been

يَهۡتَدُونَ

yahtadoon!

guided

٦٤

28:65

وَيَوۡمَ

Wa-Yawma

And (the) Day

يُنَادِيهِمۡ

yunaadeehim

He will call them

فَيَقُولُ

fayaq̣oolu

and say

مَاذَآ

maa-ẓaaa

What

أَجَبۡتُمُ

ʹajabtumul

did you answer

ٱلۡمُرۡسَلِينَ

mursaleen?

the Messengers

٦٥

28:66

فَعَمِيَتۡ

Faʻamiyat

But (will) be obscure

عَلَيۡهِمُ

ʻalayhimul

to them

ٱلۡأَنۢبَآءُ

ʹambaaaʹu

the information

يَوۡمَئِذٖ

Yawmaʹiẓiñ

that day

فَهُمۡ

fahum

so they

لَا

laa-

will not ask one another

يَتَسَآءَلُونَ

yatasaaaʹaloon!

will not ask one another

٦٦

28:67

فَأَمَّا

Faʹammaa

But as for

مَن

mañ

(him) who

تَابَ

taaba

repented

وَءَامَنَ

wa-ʹaamana

and believed

وَعَمِلَ

wa-ʻamila

and did

صَٰلِحٗا

ṣaaliḥañ

righteousness

فَعَسَىٰٓ

faʻasaaa

then perhaps

أَن

ʹañy

[that]

يَكُونَ

yakoona

he will be

مِنَ

minal

ٱلۡمُفۡلِحِينَ

Mufliḥeen.

the successful ones

٦٧

28:68

وَرَبُّكَ

Wa-Rabbuka

And your Lord

يَخۡلُقُ

yakhluq̣u

creates

مَا

maa-

what

يَشَآءُ

yashaaaʹu

He wills

وَيَخۡتَارُۗ

wayakhtaar:

and chooses

مَا

maa-

Not

كَانَ

kaana

they have

لَهُمُ

lahumul

for them

ٱلۡخِيَرَةُۚ

khiyarah:

the choice

سُبۡحَٰنَ

Subḥaanal

Glory be

ٱللَّهِ

laahi

(to) Allah

وَتَعَٰلَىٰ

wa-taʻaalaa

and High is He

عَمَّا

ʻammaa

above what

يُشۡرِكُونَ

yushrikoon!

they associate (with Him)

٦٨

28:69

وَرَبُّكَ

Wa-Rabbuka

And your Lord

يَعۡلَمُ

yaʻlamu

knows

مَا

maa-

what

تُكِنُّ

tukinnu

conceals

صُدُورُهُمۡ

ṣudooruhum

their breasts

وَمَا

wa-maa

and what

يُعۡلِنُونَ

yuʻlinoon.

they declare

٦٩

28:70

وَهُوَ

Wa-Huwal

And He

ٱللَّهُ

laahu

(is) Allah

لَآ

laaa

(there is) no

إِلَٰهَ

ʹilaaha

god

إِلَّا

ʹillaa

but

هُوَۖ

Hoo.

لَهُ

Lahul

To Him

ٱلۡحَمۡدُ

Ḥamdu

(are due) all praises

فِي

fil

ٱلۡأُولَىٰ

ʹoolaa

the first

وَٱلۡأٓخِرَةِۖ

wal-ʹaakhirah:

and the last

وَلَهُ

wa-lahul

And for Him

ٱلۡحُكۡمُ

Ḥukmu

(is) the Decision

وَإِلَيۡهِ

wa-ʹilayhi

and to Him

تُرۡجَعُونَ

turjaʻoon.

you will be returned

قُلۡ

Q̣ul

Say

أَرَءَيۡتُمۡ

ʹaraʹaytum

Have you seen

إِن

ʹiñ

جَعَلَ

jaʻalal

Allah made

ٱللَّهُ

laahu

Allah made

عَلَيۡكُمُ

ʻalaykumul

for you

ٱلَّيۡلَ

Layla

the night

سَرۡمَدًا

sarmadan

continuous

إِلَىٰ

ʹilaa

till

يَوۡمِ

Yawmil

(the) Day

ٱلۡقِيَٰمَةِ

Q̣iyaamati

(of) the Resurrection

مَنۡ

man

who

إِلَٰهٌ

ʹilaahun

(is the) god

غَيۡرُ

g̣ayrul

besides

ٱللَّهِ

laahi

Allah

يَأۡتِيكُم

yaʹ-teekum̃

who could bring you

بِضِيَآءٍۚ

biḍiyaaaʹ?

light

أَفَلَا

ʹAfalaa

Then will not

تَسۡمَعُونَ

tasmaʻoon?

you hear

٧١

28:72

قُلۡ

Q̣ul

Say

أَرَءَيۡتُمۡ

ʹaraʹaytum

Have you seen

إِن

ʹiñ

جَعَلَ

jaʻalal

Allah made

ٱللَّهُ

laahu

Allah made

عَلَيۡكُمُ

ʻalaykumun

for you

ٱلنَّهَارَ

Nahaara

the day

سَرۡمَدًا

sarmadan

continuous

إِلَىٰ

ʹilaa

till

يَوۡمِ

Yawmil

(the) Day

ٱلۡقِيَٰمَةِ

Q̣iyaamati

(of) the Resurrection

مَنۡ

man

who

إِلَٰهٌ

ʹilaahun

(is the) god

غَيۡرُ

g̣ayrul

besides

ٱللَّهِ

laahi

Allah

يَأۡتِيكُم

yaʹteekum̃

who could bring you

بِلَيۡلٖ

bi-Layliñ

night

تَسۡكُنُونَ

taskunoona

(for) you (to) rest

فِيهِۚ

feeh?

in it

أَفَلَا

ʹAfalaa

Then will not

تُبۡصِرُونَ

tubṣiroon?

you see

٧٢

28:73

وَمِن

Wa-mir

And from

رَّحۡمَتِهِۦ

Raḥmatihee

His Mercy

جَعَلَ

jaʻala

He made

لَكُمُ

lakumul

for you

ٱلَّيۡلَ

Layla

the night

وَٱلنَّهَارَ

wan-Nahaara

and the day

لِتَسۡكُنُواْ

litaskunoo

that you may rest

فِيهِ

feehi

therein

وَلِتَبۡتَغُواْ

wa-litabtag̣oo

and that you may seek

مِن

miñ

from

فَضۡلِهِۦ

Faḍlihee

His Bounty

وَلَعَلَّكُمۡ

wa-laʻallakum

and so that you may

تَشۡكُرُونَ

tashkuroon.

be grateful

٧٣

28:74

وَيَوۡمَ

Wa-Yawma

And (the) Day

يُنَادِيهِمۡ

yunaadeehim

He will call them

فَيَقُولُ

fayaq̣oolu

and say

أَيۡنَ

ʹayna

Where

شُرَكَآءِيَ

shurakaaaʹiyal

(are) My partners

ٱلَّذِينَ

laẓeena

whom

كُنتُمۡ

kuñtum

you used (to)

تَزۡعُمُونَ

tazʻumoon?

claim

٧٤

28:75

وَنَزَعۡنَا

Wa-nazaʻnaa

And We will draw forth

مِن

miñ

from

كُلِّ

kulli

every

أُمَّةٖ

ʹummatiñ

nation

شَهِيدٗا

shaheedañ

a witness

فَقُلۡنَا

faq̣ulnaa

and We will say

هَاتُواْ

haatoo

Bring

بُرۡهَٰنَكُمۡ

burhaanakum

your proof

فَعَلِمُوٓاْ

faʻalimooo

Then they will know

أَنَّ

ʹannal

that

ٱلۡحَقَّ

Ḥaq̣q̣a

the truth

لِلَّهِ

lillaahi

(is) for Allah

وَضَلَّ

wa-ḍalla

and (will be) lost

عَنۡهُم

ʻanhum

from them

مَّا

maa

what

كَانُواْ

kaanoo

they used (to)

يَفۡتَرُونَ

yaftaroon.

invent
