One of the 240 subdivisions of the Quran (quarter of a Hizb)

28:12
۞وَحَرَّمۡنَا
waharramna
And We had forbidden
عَلَيۡهِ
alayhi
for him
ٱلۡمَرَاضِعَ
al-maradi'a
the wet nurses
مِن
min
before
قَبۡلُ
qablu
before
فَقَالَتۡ
faqalat
so she said
هَلۡ
hal
Shall I
أَدُلُّكُمۡ
adullukum
direct you
عَلَىٰٓ
ala
to
أَهۡلِ
ahli
(the) people
بَيۡتٖ
baytin
(of) a house
يَكۡفُلُونَهُۥ
yakfulunahu
who will rear him
لَكُمۡ
lakum
for you
وَهُمۡ
wahum
while they
لَهُۥ
lahu
to him
نَٰصِحُونَ
nasihuna
(will be) sincere
١٢
28:13
فَرَدَدۡنَٰهُ
faradadnahu
So We restored him
إِلَىٰٓ
ila
to
أُمِّهِۦ
ummihi
his mother
كَيۡ
kay
that
تَقَرَّ
taqarra
might be comforted
عَيۡنُهَا
aynuha
her eye
وَلَا
wala
and not
تَحۡزَنَ
tahzana
she may grieve
وَلِتَعۡلَمَ
walita'lama
and that she would know
أَنَّ
anna
that
وَعۡدَ
wa'da
the Promise of Allah
ٱللَّهِ
al-lahi
the Promise of Allah
حَقّٞ
haqqun
(is) true
وَلَٰكِنَّ
walakinna
But
أَكۡثَرَهُمۡ
aktharahum
most of them
لَا
la
(do) not
يَعۡلَمُونَ
ya'lamuna
know

28:14
وَلَمَّا
walamma
And when
بَلَغَ
balagha
he reached
أَشُدَّهُۥ
ashuddahu
his full strength
وَٱسۡتَوَىٰٓ
wa-is'tawa
and became mature
ءَاتَيۡنَٰهُ
ataynahu
We bestowed upon him
حُكۡمٗا
huk'man
wisdom
وَعِلۡمٗاۚ
wa'il'man
and knowledge
وَكَذَٰلِكَ
wakadhalika
And thus
نَجۡزِي
najzi
We reward
ٱلۡمُحۡسِنِينَ
al-muh'sinina
the good-doers
١٤
28:15
وَدَخَلَ
wadakhala
And he entered
ٱلۡمَدِينَةَ
al-madinata
the city
عَلَىٰ
ala
at
حِينِ
hini
a time
غَفۡلَةٖ
ghaflatin
(of) inattention
مِّنۡ
min
of
أَهۡلِهَا
ahliha
its people
فَوَجَدَ
fawajada
and found
فِيهَا
fiha
therein
رَجُلَيۡنِ
rajulayni
two men
يَقۡتَتِلَانِ
yaqtatilani
fighting each other
هَٰذَا
hadha
this
مِن
min
of
شِيعَتِهِۦ
shi'atihi
his party
وَهَٰذَا
wahadha
and this
مِنۡ
min
of
عَدُوِّهِۦۖ
aduwwihi
his enemy
فَٱسۡتَغَٰثَهُ
fa-is'taghathahu
And called him for help
ٱلَّذِي
alladhi
the one who
مِن
min
(was) from
شِيعَتِهِۦ
shi'atihi
his party
عَلَى
ala
against
ٱلَّذِي
alladhi
the one who
مِنۡ
min
(was) from
عَدُوِّهِۦ
aduwwihi
his enemy
فَوَكَزَهُۥ
fawakazahu
so Musa struck him with his fist
مُوسَىٰ
musa
so Musa struck him with his fist
فَقَضَىٰ
faqada
and killed him
عَلَيۡهِۖ
alayhi
and killed him
قَالَ
qala
He said
هَٰذَا
hadha
This (is)
مِنۡ
min
of
عَمَلِ
amali
(the) deed
ٱلشَّيۡطَٰنِۖ
al-shaytani
(of) Shaitaan
إِنَّهُۥ
innahu
Indeed he
عَدُوّٞ
aduwwun
(is) an enemy
مُّضِلّٞ
mudillun
one who misleads
مُّبِينٞ
mubinun
clearly
١٥
28:16
قَالَ
qala
He said
رَبِّ
rabbi
My Lord
إِنِّي
inni
Indeed I
ظَلَمۡتُ
zalamtu
[I] have wronged
نَفۡسِي
nafsi
my soul
فَٱغۡفِرۡ
fa-igh'fir
so forgive
لِي
li
[for] me
فَغَفَرَ
faghafara
Then He forgave
لَهُۥٓۚ
lahu
[for] him
إِنَّهُۥ
innahu
Indeed He
هُوَ
huwa
He (is)
ٱلۡغَفُورُ
al-ghafuru
the Oft-Forgiving
ٱلرَّحِيمُ
al-rahimu
the Most Merciful
١٦
28:17
قَالَ
qala
He said
رَبِّ
rabbi
My Lord
بِمَآ
bima
Because
أَنۡعَمۡتَ
an'amta
You have favored
عَلَيَّ
alayya
[on] me
فَلَنۡ
falan
so not
أَكُونَ
akuna
I will be
ظَهِيرٗا
zahiran
a supporter
لِّلۡمُجۡرِمِينَ
lil'muj'rimina
(of) the criminals
١٧
28:18
فَأَصۡبَحَ
fa-asbaha
In the morning he was
فِي
fi
in
ٱلۡمَدِينَةِ
al-madinati
the city
خَآئِفٗا
khaifan
fearful
يَتَرَقَّبُ
yataraqqabu
(and) was vigilant
فَإِذَا
fa-idha
when behold
ٱلَّذِي
alladhi
The one who
ٱسۡتَنصَرَهُۥ
is'tansarahu
sought his help
بِٱلۡأَمۡسِ
bil-amsi
the previous day
يَسۡتَصۡرِخُهُۥۚ
yastasrikhuhu
cried out to him for help
قَالَ
qala
Said
لَهُۥ
lahu
to him
مُوسَىٰٓ
musa
Musa
إِنَّكَ
innaka
Indeed you
لَغَوِيّٞ
laghawiyyun
(are) surely a deviator
مُّبِينٞ
mubinun
clear
١٨
28:19
فَلَمَّآ
falamma
Then when
أَنۡ
an
[that]
أَرَادَ
arada
he wanted
أَن
an
to
يَبۡطِشَ
yabtisha
strike
بِٱلَّذِي
bi-alladhi
the one who
هُوَ
huwa
[he] (was)
عَدُوّٞ
aduwwun
an enemy
لَّهُمَا
lahuma
to both of them
قَالَ
qala
he said
يَٰمُوسَىٰٓ
yamusa
O Musa
أَتُرِيدُ
aturidu
Do you intend
أَن
an
to
تَقۡتُلَنِي
taqtulani
kill me
كَمَا
kama
as
قَتَلۡتَ
qatalta
you killed
نَفۡسَۢا
nafsan
a person
بِٱلۡأَمۡسِۖ
bil-amsi
yesterday
إِن
in
Not
تُرِيدُ
turidu
you want
إِلَّآ
illa
but
أَن
an
that
تَكُونَ
takuna
you become
جَبَّارٗا
jabbaran
a tyrant
فِي
fi
in
ٱلۡأَرۡضِ
al-ardi
the earth
وَمَا
wama
and not
تُرِيدُ
turidu
you want
أَن
an
that
تَكُونَ
takuna
you be
مِنَ
mina
of
ٱلۡمُصۡلِحِينَ
al-mus'lihina
the reformers
١٩
28:20
وَجَآءَ
wajaa
And came
رَجُلٞ
rajulun
a man
مِّنۡ
min
from
أَقۡصَا
aqsa
(the) farthest end
ٱلۡمَدِينَةِ
al-madinati
(of) the city
يَسۡعَىٰ
yas'a
running
قَالَ
qala
He said
يَٰمُوسَىٰٓ
yamusa
O Musa
إِنَّ
inna
Indeed
ٱلۡمَلَأَ
al-mala-a
the chiefs
يَأۡتَمِرُونَ
yatamiruna
are taking counsel
بِكَ
bika
about you
لِيَقۡتُلُوكَ
liyaqtuluka
to kill you
فَٱخۡرُجۡ
fa-ukh'ruj
so leave
إِنِّي
inni
indeed I am
لَكَ
laka
to you
مِنَ
mina
of
ٱلنَّٰصِحِينَ
al-nasihina
the sincere advisors
٢٠
28:21
فَخَرَجَ
fakharaja
So he left
مِنۡهَا
min'ha
from it
خَآئِفٗا
khaifan
fearing
يَتَرَقَّبُۖ
yataraqqabu
(and) vigilant
قَالَ
qala
He said
رَبِّ
rabbi
My Lord
نَجِّنِي
najjini
Save me
مِنَ
mina
from
ٱلۡقَوۡمِ
al-qawmi
the people
ٱلظَّٰلِمِينَ
al-zalimina
the wrongdoers

28:22
وَلَمَّا
walamma
And when
تَوَجَّهَ
tawajjaha
he turned his face
تِلۡقَآءَ
til'qaa
towards
مَدۡيَنَ
madyana
Madyan
قَالَ
qala
he said
عَسَىٰ
asa
Perhaps
رَبِّيٓ
rabbi
my Lord
أَن
an
[that]
يَهۡدِيَنِي
yahdiyani
will guide me
سَوَآءَ
sawaa
(to the) sound
ٱلسَّبِيلِ
al-sabili
way
٢٢
28:23
وَلَمَّا
walamma
And when
وَرَدَ
warada
he came
مَآءَ
maa
(to the) water
مَدۡيَنَ
madyana
(of) Madyan
وَجَدَ
wajada
he found
عَلَيۡهِ
alayhi
on it
أُمَّةٗ
ummatan
a group
مِّنَ
mina
of
ٱلنَّاسِ
al-nasi
men
يَسۡقُونَ
yasquna
watering
وَوَجَدَ
wawajada
and he found
مِن
min
besides them
دُونِهِمُ
dunihimu
besides them
ٱمۡرَأَتَيۡنِ
im'ra-atayni
two women
تَذُودَانِۖ
tadhudani
keeping back
قَالَ
qala
He said
مَا
ma
What
خَطۡبُكُمَاۖ
khatbukuma
(is the) matter with both of you
قَالَتَا
qalata
They said
لَا
la
We cannot water
نَسۡقِي
nasqi
We cannot water
حَتَّىٰ
hatta
until
يُصۡدِرَ
yus'dira
take away
ٱلرِّعَآءُۖ
al-ri'au
the shepherds
وَأَبُونَا
wa-abuna
and our father
شَيۡخٞ
shaykhun
(is) a very old man
كَبِيرٞ
kabirun
(is) a very old man
٢٣
28:24
فَسَقَىٰ
fasaqa
So he watered
لَهُمَا
lahuma
for them
ثُمَّ
thumma
Then
تَوَلَّىٰٓ
tawalla
he turned back
إِلَى
ila
to
ٱلظِّلِّ
al-zili
the shade
فَقَالَ
faqala
and said
رَبِّ
rabbi
My Lord
إِنِّي
inni
Indeed I am
لِمَآ
lima
of whatever
أَنزَلۡتَ
anzalta
You send
إِلَيَّ
ilayya
to me
مِنۡ
min
of
خَيۡرٖ
khayrin
good
فَقِيرٞ
faqirun
(in) need
٢٤
28:25
فَجَآءَتۡهُ
fajaathu
Then came to him
إِحۡدَىٰهُمَا
ih'dahuma
one of the two women
تَمۡشِي
tamshi
walking
عَلَى
ala
with
ٱسۡتِحۡيَآءٖ
is'tih'yain
shyness
قَالَتۡ
qalat
She said
إِنَّ
inna
Indeed
أَبِي
abi
my father
يَدۡعُوكَ
yad'uka
calls you
لِيَجۡزِيَكَ
liyajziyaka
that he may reward you
أَجۡرَ
ajra
(the) reward
مَا
ma
(for) what
سَقَيۡتَ
saqayta
you watered
لَنَاۚ
lana
for us
فَلَمَّا
falamma
So when
جَآءَهُۥ
jaahu
he came to him
وَقَصَّ
waqassa
and narrated
عَلَيۡهِ
alayhi
to him
ٱلۡقَصَصَ
al-qasasa
the story
قَالَ
qala
he said
لَا
la
(Do) not
تَخَفۡۖ
takhaf
fear
نَجَوۡتَ
najawta
You have escaped
مِنَ
mina
from
ٱلۡقَوۡمِ
al-qawmi
the people
ٱلظَّٰلِمِينَ
al-zalimina
the wrongdoers
٢٥
28:26
قَالَتۡ
qalat
Said
إِحۡدَىٰهُمَا
ih'dahuma
one of them
يَٰٓأَبَتِ
yaabati
O my father
ٱسۡتَـٔۡجِرۡهُۖ
is'tajir'hu
Hire him
إِنَّ
inna
Indeed
خَيۡرَ
khayra
(the) best
مَنِ
mani
whom
ٱسۡتَـٔۡجَرۡتَ
is'tajarta
you (can) hire
ٱلۡقَوِيُّ
al-qawiyu
(is) the strong
ٱلۡأَمِينُ
al-aminu
the trustworthy
٢٦
28:27
قَالَ
qala
He said
إِنِّيٓ
inni
Indeed I
أُرِيدُ
uridu
[I] wish
أَنۡ
an
to
أُنكِحَكَ
unkihaka
marry you to
إِحۡدَى
ih'da
one
ٱبۡنَتَيَّ
ib'natayya
(of) my daughters
هَٰتَيۡنِ
hatayni
(of) these two
عَلَىٰٓ
ala
on
أَن
an
that
تَأۡجُرَنِي
tajurani
you serve me
ثَمَٰنِيَ
thamaniya
(for) eight
حِجَجٖۖ
hijajin
years
فَإِنۡ
fa-in
but if
أَتۡمَمۡتَ
atmamta
you complete
عَشۡرٗا
ashran
ten
فَمِنۡ
famin
then from
عِندِكَۖ
indika
you
وَمَآ
wama
And not
أُرِيدُ
uridu
I wish
أَنۡ
an
to
أَشُقَّ
ashuqqa
make it difficult
عَلَيۡكَۚ
alayka
for you
سَتَجِدُنِيٓ
satajiduni
You will find me
إِن
in
if
شَآءَ
shaa
Allah wills
ٱللَّهُ
al-lahu
Allah wills
مِنَ
mina
of
ٱلصَّٰلِحِينَ
al-salihina
the righteous
٢٧
28:28
قَالَ
qala
He said
ذَٰلِكَ
dhalika
That
بَيۡنِي
bayni
(is) between me
وَبَيۡنَكَۖ
wabaynaka
and between you
أَيَّمَا
ayyama
Whichever
ٱلۡأَجَلَيۡنِ
al-ajalayni
(of) the two terms
قَضَيۡتُ
qadaytu
I complete
فَلَا
fala
then no
عُدۡوَٰنَ
ud'wana
injustice
عَلَيَّۖ
alayya
to me
وَٱللَّهُ
wal-lahu
and Allah
عَلَىٰ
ala
over
مَا
ma
what
نَقُولُ
naqulu
we say
وَكِيلٞ
wakilun
(is) a Witness
٢٨
