One of the 240 subdivisions of the Quran (quarter of a Hizb)

27:27

۞قَالَ

qala

He said

سَنَنظُرُ

sananzuru

We will see

أَصَدَقۡتَ

asadaqta

whether you speak (the) truth

أَمۡ

كُنتَ

kunta

you are

مِنَ

mina

ٱلۡكَٰذِبِينَ

al-kadhibina

the liars

٢٧

27:28

ٱذۡهَب

idh'hab

بِّكِتَٰبِي

bikitabi

with my letter

هَٰذَا

hadha

this

فَأَلۡقِهۡ

fa-alqih

and deliver it

إِلَيۡهِمۡ

ilayhim

to them

ثُمَّ

thumma

Then

تَوَلَّ

tawalla

turn away

عَنۡهُمۡ

anhum

from them

فَٱنظُرۡ

fa-unzur

and see

مَاذَا

madha

what

يَرۡجِعُونَ

yarji'una

they return

٢٨

27:29

قَالَتۡ

qalat

She said

يَٰٓأَيُّهَا

yaayyuha

ٱلۡمَلَؤُاْ

al-mala-u

chiefs

إِنِّيٓ

inni

Indeed [I]

أُلۡقِيَ

ul'qiya

is delivered

إِلَيَّ

ilayya

to me

كِتَٰبٞ

kitabun

a letter

كَرِيمٌ

karimun

noble

٢٩

27:30

إِنَّهُۥ

innahu

Indeed it

مِن

min

(is) from

سُلَيۡمَٰنَ

sulaymana

Sulaiman

وَإِنَّهُۥ

wa-innahu

and indeed it (is)

بِسۡمِ

bis'mi

In the name

ٱللَّهِ

al-lahi

(of) Allah

ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنِ

al-rahmani

the Most Gracious

ٱلرَّحِيمِ

al-rahimi

the Most Merciful

٣٠

27:31

أَلَّا

alla

That not

تَعۡلُواْ

ta'lu

exalt yourselves

عَلَيَّ

alayya

against me

وَأۡتُونِي

watuni

but come to me

مُسۡلِمِينَ

mus'limina

(in) submission

٣١

27:32

قَالَتۡ

qalat

She said

يَٰٓأَيُّهَا

yaayyuha

ٱلۡمَلَؤُاْ

al-mala-u

chiefs

أَفۡتُونِي

aftuni

Advise me

فِيٓ

أَمۡرِي

amri

my affair

مَا

Not

كُنتُ

kuntu

I would be

قَاطِعَةً

qati'atan

the one to decide

أَمۡرًا

amran

any matter

حَتَّىٰ

hatta

until

تَشۡهَدُونِ

tashhaduni

you are present with me

٣٢

27:33

قَالُواْ

qalu

They said

نَحۡنُ

nahnu

أُوْلُواْ

ulu

(are) possessors

قُوَّةٖ

quwwatin

(of) strength

وَأُوْلُواْ

wa-ulu

and possessors

بَأۡسٖ

basin

(of) might

شَدِيدٖ

shadidin

great

وَٱلۡأَمۡرُ

wal-amru

and the command

إِلَيۡكِ

ilayki

(is) up to you

فَٱنظُرِي

fa-unzuri

so look

مَاذَا

madha

what

تَأۡمُرِينَ

tamurina

you will command

٣٣

27:34

قَالَتۡ

qalat

She said

إِنَّ

inna

Indeed

ٱلۡمُلُوكَ

al-muluka

the kings

إِذَا

idha

when

دَخَلُواْ

dakhalu

they enter

قَرۡيَةً

qaryatan

a town

أَفۡسَدُوهَا

afsaduha

they ruin it

وَجَعَلُوٓاْ

waja'alu

and make

أَعِزَّةَ

a'izzata

(the) most honorable

أَهۡلِهَآ

ahliha

(of) its people

أَذِلَّةٗۚ

adhillatan

(the) lowest

وَكَذَٰلِكَ

wakadhalika

And thus

يَفۡعَلُونَ

yaf 'aluna

they do

٣٤

27:35

وَإِنِّي

wa-inni

But indeed I am

مُرۡسِلَةٌ

mur'silatun

going to send

إِلَيۡهِم

ilayhim

to them

بِهَدِيَّةٖ

bihadiyyatin

a gift

فَنَاظِرَةُۢ

fanaziratun

and see

بِمَ

bima

with what

يَرۡجِعُ

yarji'u

return

ٱلۡمُرۡسَلُونَ

al-mur'saluna

the messengers

27:36

فَلَمَّا

falamma

So when

جَآءَ

jaa

came

سُلَيۡمَٰنَ

sulaymana

(to) Sulaiman

قَالَ

qala

he said

أَتُمِدُّونَنِ

atumiddunani

Will you provide me

بِمَالٖ

bimalin

with wealth

فَمَآ

fama

But what

ءَاتَىٰنِۦَ

ataniya

Allah has given me

ٱللَّهُ

al-lahu

Allah has given me

خَيۡرٞ

khayrun

(is) better

مِّمَّآ

mimma

than what

ءَاتَىٰكُمۚ

atakum

He has given you

بَلۡ

bal

Nay

أَنتُم

antum

you

بِهَدِيَّتِكُمۡ

bihadiyyatikum

in your gift

تَفۡرَحُونَ

tafrahuna

rejoice

٣٦

27:37

ٱرۡجِعۡ

ir'ji'

Return

إِلَيۡهِمۡ

ilayhim

to them

فَلَنَأۡتِيَنَّهُم

falanatiyannahum

surely we will come to them

بِجُنُودٖ

bijunudin

with hosts

لَّا

not

قِبَلَ

qibala

(is) resistance

لَهُم

lahum

for them

بِهَا

biha

of it

وَلَنُخۡرِجَنَّهُم

walanukh'rijannahum

and surely we will drive them out

مِّنۡهَآ

min'ha

from there

أَذِلَّةٗ

adhillatan

(in) humiliation

وَهُمۡ

wahum

and they

صَٰغِرُونَ

saghiruna

(will be) abased

٣٧

27:38

قَالَ

qala

He said

يَٰٓأَيُّهَا

yaayyuha

ٱلۡمَلَؤُاْ

al-mala-u

chiefs

أَيُّكُمۡ

ayyukum

Which of you

يَأۡتِينِي

yatini

will bring me

بِعَرۡشِهَا

bi'arshiha

her throne

قَبۡلَ

qabla

before

أَن

that

يَأۡتُونِي

yatuni

they come to me

مُسۡلِمِينَ

mus'limina

(in) submission

٣٨

27:39

قَالَ

qala

Said

عِفۡرِيتٞ

if'ritun

a strong one

مِّنَ

mina

ٱلۡجِنِّ

al-jini

the jinn

أَنَا۠

ana

ءَاتِيكَ

atika

will bring it to you

بِهِۦ

bihi

will bring it to you

قَبۡلَ

qabla

before

أَن

[that]

تَقُومَ

taquma

you rise

مِن

min

from

مَّقَامِكَۖ

maqamika

your place

وَإِنِّي

wa-inni

And indeed I am

عَلَيۡهِ

alayhi

for it

لَقَوِيٌّ

laqawiyyun

surely strong

أَمِينٞ

aminun

trustworthy

٣٩

27:40

قَالَ

qala

Said

ٱلَّذِي

alladhi

one who

عِندَهُۥ

indahu

with him

عِلۡمٞ

il'mun

(was) knowledge

مِّنَ

mina

ٱلۡكِتَٰبِ

al-kitabi

the Scripture

أَنَا۠

ana

ءَاتِيكَ

atika

will bring it to you

بِهِۦ

bihi

will bring it to you

قَبۡلَ

qabla

before

أَن

[that]

يَرۡتَدَّ

yartadda

returns

إِلَيۡكَ

ilayka

to you

طَرۡفُكَۚ

tarfuka

your glance

فَلَمَّا

falamma

Then when

رَءَاهُ

raahu

he saw it

مُسۡتَقِرًّا

mus'taqirran

placed

عِندَهُۥ

indahu

before him

قَالَ

qala

he said

هَٰذَا

hadha

This

مِن

min

(is) from

فَضۡلِ

fadli

(the) Favor

رَبِّي

rabbi

(of) my Lord

لِيَبۡلُوَنِيٓ

liyabluwani

to test me

ءَأَشۡكُرُ

a-ashkuru

whether I am grateful

أَمۡ

أَكۡفُرُۖ

akfuru

I am ungrateful

وَمَن

waman

And whoever

شَكَرَ

shakara

(is) grateful

فَإِنَّمَا

fa-innama

then only

يَشۡكُرُ

yashkuru

he is grateful

لِنَفۡسِهِۦۖ

linafsihi

for his own soul

وَمَن

waman

And whoever

كَفَرَ

kafara

(is) ungrateful

فَإِنَّ

fa-inna

then indeed

رَبِّي

rabbi

my Lord

غَنِيّٞ

ghaniyyun

(is) Self-sufficient

كَرِيمٞ

karimun

Noble

٤٠

27:41

قَالَ

qala

He said

نَكِّرُواْ

nakkiru

Disguise

لَهَا

laha

for her

عَرۡشَهَا

arshaha

her throne

نَنظُرۡ

nanzur

we will see

أَتَهۡتَدِيٓ

atahtadi

whether she will be guided

أَمۡ

تَكُونُ

takunu

will be

مِنَ

mina

ٱلَّذِينَ

alladhina

those who

لَا

are not guided

يَهۡتَدُونَ

yahtaduna

are not guided

٤١

27:42

فَلَمَّا

falamma

So when

جَآءَتۡ

jaat

she came

قِيلَ

qila

it was said

أَهَٰكَذَا

ahakadha

Is like this

عَرۡشُكِۖ

arshuki

your throne

قَالَتۡ

qalat

She said

كَأَنَّهُۥ

ka-annahu

It is like

هُوَۚ

huwa

وَأُوتِينَا

wautina

And we were given

ٱلۡعِلۡمَ

al-'il'ma

the knowledge

مِن

min

before her

قَبۡلِهَا

qabliha

before her

وَكُنَّا

wakunna

and we have been

مُسۡلِمِينَ

mus'limina

Muslims

٤٢

27:43

وَصَدَّهَا

wasaddaha

And has averted her

مَا

what

كَانَت

kanat

she used (to)

تَّعۡبُدُ

ta'budu

worship

مِن

min

besides

دُونِ

duni

besides

ٱللَّهِۖ

al-lahi

Allah

إِنَّهَا

innaha

Indeed she

كَانَتۡ

kanat

was

مِن

min

from

قَوۡمٖ

qawmin

a people

كَٰفِرِينَ

kafirina

who disbelieve

٤٣

27:44

قِيلَ

qila

It was said

لَهَا

laha

to her

ٱدۡخُلِي

ud'khuli

Enter

ٱلصَّرۡحَۖ

al-sarha

the palace

فَلَمَّا

falamma

Then when

رَأَتۡهُ

ra-athu

she saw it

حَسِبَتۡهُ

hasibathu

she thought it

لُجَّةٗ

lujjatan

(was) a pool

وَكَشَفَتۡ

wakashafat

and she uncovered

عَن

[on]

سَاقَيۡهَاۚ

saqayha

her shins

قَالَ

qala

He said

إِنَّهُۥ

innahu

Indeed it

صَرۡحٞ

sarhun

(is) a palace

مُّمَرَّدٞ

mumarradun

made smooth

مِّن

min

قَوَارِيرَۗ

qawarira

glass

قَالَتۡ

qalat

She said

رَبِّ

rabbi

My Lord

إِنِّي

inni

indeed I

ظَلَمۡتُ

zalamtu

[I] have wronged

نَفۡسِي

nafsi

myself

وَأَسۡلَمۡتُ

wa-aslamtu

and I submit

مَعَ

ma'a

with

سُلَيۡمَٰنَ

sulaymana

Sulaiman

لِلَّهِ

lillahi

to Allah

رَبِّ

rabbi

(the) Lord

ٱلۡعَٰلَمِينَ

al-'alamina

(of) the worlds

٤٤

27:45

وَلَقَدۡ

walaqad

And certainly

أَرۡسَلۡنَآ

arsalna

We sent

إِلَىٰ

ila

ثَمُودَ

thamuda

Thamud

أَخَاهُمۡ

akhahum

their brother

صَٰلِحًا

salihan

Salih

أَنِ

ani

that

ٱعۡبُدُواْ

u'budu

Worship

ٱللَّهَ

al-laha

Allah

فَإِذَا

fa-idha

Then behold

هُمۡ

hum

They

فَرِيقَانِ

fariqani

(became) two parties

يَخۡتَصِمُونَ

yakhtasimuna

quarreling

٤٥

27:46

قَالَ

qala

He said

يَٰقَوۡمِ

yaqawmi

O my people

لِمَ

lima

Why

تَسۡتَعۡجِلُونَ

tasta'jiluna

(do) you seek to hasten

بِٱلسَّيِّئَةِ

bil-sayi-ati

the evil

قَبۡلَ

qabla

before

ٱلۡحَسَنَةِۖ

al-hasanati

the good

لَوۡلَا

lawla

Why not

تَسۡتَغۡفِرُونَ

tastaghfiruna

you ask forgiveness

ٱللَّهَ

al-laha

(of) Allah

لَعَلَّكُمۡ

la'allakum

so that you may

تُرۡحَمُونَ

tur'hamuna

receive mercy

٤٦

27:47

قَالُواْ

qalu

They said

ٱطَّيَّرۡنَا

ittayyarna

We consider you a bad omen

بِكَ

bika

We consider you a bad omen

وَبِمَن

wabiman

and those

مَّعَكَۚ

ma'aka

with you

قَالَ

qala

He said

طَٰٓئِرُكُمۡ

tairukum

Your bad omen

عِندَ

inda

(is) with

ٱللَّهِۖ

al-lahi

Allah

بَلۡ

bal

Nay

أَنتُمۡ

antum

you

قَوۡمٞ

qawmun

(are) a people

تُفۡتَنُونَ

tuf'tanuna

being tested

٤٧

27:48

وَكَانَ

wakana

And were

فِي

ٱلۡمَدِينَةِ

al-madinati

the city

تِسۡعَةُ

tis'atu

nine

رَهۡطٖ

rahtin

family heads

يُفۡسِدُونَ

yuf'siduna

they were spreading corruption

فِي

ٱلۡأَرۡضِ

al-ardi

the land

وَلَا

wala

and not

يُصۡلِحُونَ

yus'lihuna

reforming

٤٨

27:49

قَالُواْ

qalu

They said

تَقَاسَمُواْ

taqasamu

Swear to each other

بِٱللَّهِ

bil-lahi

by Allah

لَنُبَيِّتَنَّهُۥ

lanubayyitannahu

surely we will attack him by night

وَأَهۡلَهُۥ

wa-ahlahu

and his family

ثُمَّ

thumma

Then

لَنَقُولَنَّ

lanaqulanna

we will surely say

لِوَلِيِّهِۦ

liwaliyyihi

to his heir

مَا

Not

شَهِدۡنَا

shahid'na

we witnessed

مَهۡلِكَ

mahlika

(the) destruction

أَهۡلِهِۦ

ahlihi

(of) his family

وَإِنَّا

wa-inna

and indeed we

لَصَٰدِقُونَ

lasadiquna

(are) surely truthful

٤٩

27:50

وَمَكَرُواْ

wamakaru

So they plotted

مَكۡرٗا

makran

a plot

وَمَكَرۡنَا

wamakarna

and We planned

مَكۡرٗا

makran

a plan

وَهُمۡ

wahum

while they

لَا

(did) not

يَشۡعُرُونَ

yash'uruna

perceive

٥٠

27:51

فَٱنظُرۡ

fa-unzur

Then see

كَيۡفَ

kayfa

how

كَانَ

kana

was

عَٰقِبَةُ

aqibatu

(the) end

مَكۡرِهِمۡ

makrihim

(of) their plot

أَنَّا

anna

that We

دَمَّرۡنَٰهُمۡ

dammarnahum

destroyed them

وَقَوۡمَهُمۡ

waqawmahum

and their people

أَجۡمَعِينَ

ajma'ina

all

27:52

فَتِلۡكَ

fatil'ka

So these

بُيُوتُهُمۡ

buyutuhum

(are) their houses

خَاوِيَةَۢ

khawiyatan

ruined

بِمَا

bima

because

ظَلَمُوٓاْۚ

zalamu

they wronged

إِنَّ

inna

Indeed

فِي

ذَٰلِكَ

dhalika

that

لَأٓيَةٗ

laayatan

surely is a sign

لِّقَوۡمٖ

liqawmin

for a people

يَعۡلَمُونَ

ya'lamuna

who know

٥٢

27:53

وَأَنجَيۡنَا

wa-anjayna

And We saved

ٱلَّذِينَ

alladhina

those who

ءَامَنُواْ

amanu

believed

وَكَانُواْ

wakanu

and used (to)

يَتَّقُونَ

yattaquna

fear (Allah)

٥٣

27:54

وَلُوطًا

walutan

And Lut

إِذۡ

idh

when

قَالَ

qala

he said

لِقَوۡمِهِۦٓ

liqawmihi

to his people

أَتَأۡتُونَ

atatuna

Do you commit

ٱلۡفَٰحِشَةَ

al-fahishata

[the] immorality

وَأَنتُمۡ

wa-antum

while you

تُبۡصِرُونَ

tub'siruna

see

٥٤

27:55

أَئِنَّكُمۡ

a-innakum

Why do you

لَتَأۡتُونَ

latatuna

approach

ٱلرِّجَالَ

al-rijala

the men

شَهۡوَةٗ

shahwatan

(with) lust

مِّن

min

instead of

دُونِ

duni

instead of

ٱلنِّسَآءِۚ

al-nisai

the women

بَلۡ

bal

Nay

أَنتُمۡ

antum

you

قَوۡمٞ

qawmun

(are) a people

تَجۡهَلُونَ

tajhaluna

ignorant

٥٥
