2:219
۞يَسۡـَٔلُونَكَ
yasalunaka
They ask you
عَنِ
ani
about
ٱلۡخَمۡرِ
al-khamri
[the] intoxicants
وَٱلۡمَيۡسِرِۖ
wal-maysiri
and [the] games of chance
قُلۡ
qul
Say
فِيهِمَآ
fihima
In both of them
إِثۡمٞ
ith'mun
(is) a sin
كَبِيرٞ
kabirun
great
وَمَنَٰفِعُ
wamanafi'u
and (some) benefits
لِلنَّاسِ
lilnnasi
for [the] people
وَإِثۡمُهُمَآ
wa-ith'muhuma
But sin of both of them
أَكۡبَرُ
akbaru
(is) greater
مِن
min
than
نَّفۡعِهِمَاۗ
naf'ihima
(the) benefit of (the) two
وَيَسۡـَٔلُونَكَ
wayasalunaka
And they ask you
مَاذَا
madha
what
يُنفِقُونَۖ
yunfiquna
they (should) spend
قُلِ
quli
Say
ٱلۡعَفۡوَۗ
al-'afwa
The surplus
كَذَٰلِكَ
kadhalika
Thus
يُبَيِّنُ
yubayyinu
makes clear
ٱللَّهُ
al-lahu
Allah
لَكُمُ
lakumu
to you
ٱلۡأٓيَٰتِ
al-ayati
[the] Verses
لَعَلَّكُمۡ
la'allakum
so that you may
تَتَفَكَّرُونَ
tatafakkaruna
ponder

2:220
فِي
fi
Concerning
ٱلدُّنۡيَا
al-dun'ya
the world
وَٱلۡأٓخِرَةِۗ
wal-akhirati
and the Hereafter
وَيَسۡـَٔلُونَكَ
wayasalunaka
They ask you
عَنِ
ani
about
ٱلۡيَتَٰمَىٰۖ
al-yatama
the orphans
قُلۡ
qul
Say
إِصۡلَاحٞ
is'lahun
Setting right (their affairs)
لَّهُمۡ
lahum
for them
خَيۡرٞۖ
khayrun
(is) best
وَإِن
wa-in
And if
تُخَالِطُوهُمۡ
tukhalituhum
you associate with them
فَإِخۡوَٰنُكُمۡۚ
fa-ikh'wanukum
then they (are) your brothers
وَٱللَّهُ
wal-lahu
And Allah
يَعۡلَمُ
ya'lamu
knows
ٱلۡمُفۡسِدَ
al-muf'sida
the corrupter
مِنَ
mina
from
ٱلۡمُصۡلِحِۚ
al-mus'lihi
the amender
وَلَوۡ
walaw
And if
شَآءَ
shaa
(had) willed
ٱللَّهُ
al-lahu
Allah
لَأَعۡنَتَكُمۡۚ
la-a'natakum
surely He (could have) put you in difficulties
إِنَّ
inna
Indeed
ٱللَّهَ
al-laha
Allah
عَزِيزٌ
azizun
(is) All-Mighty
حَكِيمٞ
hakimun
All-Wise
٢٢٠
2:221
وَلَا
wala
And (do) not
تَنكِحُواْ
tankihu
[you] marry
ٱلۡمُشۡرِكَٰتِ
al-mush'rikati
[the] polytheistic women
حَتَّىٰ
hatta
until
يُؤۡمِنَّۚ
yu'minna
they believe
وَلَأَمَةٞ
wala-amatun
And a bondwoman
مُّؤۡمِنَةٌ
mu'minatun
(who is) believing
خَيۡرٞ
khayrun
(is) better
مِّن
min
than
مُّشۡرِكَةٖ
mush'rikatin
a polytheistic woman
وَلَوۡ
walaw
[and] even if
أَعۡجَبَتۡكُمۡۗ
a'jabatkum
she pleases you
وَلَا
wala
And (do) not
تُنكِحُواْ
tunkihu
give in marriage (your women)
ٱلۡمُشۡرِكِينَ
al-mush'rikina
(to) [the] polytheistic men
حَتَّىٰ
hatta
until
يُؤۡمِنُواْۚ
yu'minu
they believe
وَلَعَبۡدٞ
wala'abdun
and a bondman
مُّؤۡمِنٌ
mu'minun
(who is) believing
خَيۡرٞ
khayrun
(is) better
مِّن
min
than
مُّشۡرِكٖ
mush'rikin
a polytheistic man
وَلَوۡ
walaw
[and] even if
أَعۡجَبَكُمۡۗ
a'jabakum
he pleases you
أُوْلَٰٓئِكَ
ulaika
[Those]
يَدۡعُونَ
yad'una
they invite
إِلَى
ila
to
ٱلنَّارِۖ
al-nari
the Fire
وَٱللَّهُ
wal-lahu
and Allah
يَدۡعُوٓاْ
yad'u
invites
إِلَى
ila
to
ٱلۡجَنَّةِ
al-janati
Paradise
وَٱلۡمَغۡفِرَةِ
wal-maghfirati
and [the] forgiveness
بِإِذۡنِهِۦۖ
bi-idh'nihi
by His permission
وَيُبَيِّنُ
wayubayyinu
And He makes clear
ءَايَٰتِهِۦ
ayatihi
His Verses
لِلنَّاسِ
lilnnasi
for the people
لَعَلَّهُمۡ
la'allahum
so that they may
يَتَذَكَّرُونَ
yatadhakkaruna
take heed
٢٢١
2:222
وَيَسۡـَٔلُونَكَ
wayasalunaka
And they ask you
عَنِ
ani
about
ٱلۡمَحِيضِۖ
al-mahidi
[the] menstruation
قُلۡ
qul
Say
هُوَ
huwa
It
أَذٗى
adhan
(is) a hurt
فَٱعۡتَزِلُواْ
fa-i'tazilu
so keep away (from)
ٱلنِّسَآءَ
al-nisaa
[the] women
فِي
fi
during
ٱلۡمَحِيضِ
al-mahidi
(their) [the] menstruation
وَلَا
wala
And (do) not
تَقۡرَبُوهُنَّ
taqrabuhunna
approach them
حَتَّىٰ
hatta
until
يَطۡهُرۡنَۖ
yathur'na
they are cleansed
فَإِذَا
fa-idha
Then when
تَطَهَّرۡنَ
tatahharna
they are purified
فَأۡتُوهُنَّ
fatuhunna
then come to them
مِنۡ
min
from
حَيۡثُ
haythu
where
أَمَرَكُمُ
amarakumu
has ordered you
ٱللَّهُۚ
al-lahu
Allah
إِنَّ
inna
Indeed
ٱللَّهَ
al-laha
Allah
يُحِبُّ
yuhibbu
loves
ٱلتَّوَّٰبِينَ
al-tawabina
those who turn in repentance
وَيُحِبُّ
wayuhibbu
and loves
ٱلۡمُتَطَهِّرِينَ
al-mutatahirina
those who purify themselves
٢٢٢
2:223
نِسَآؤُكُمۡ
nisaukum
Your wives
حَرۡثٞ
harthun
(are) a tilth
لَّكُمۡ
lakum
for you
فَأۡتُواْ
fatu
so come
حَرۡثَكُمۡ
harthakum
(to) your tilth
أَنَّىٰ
anna
when
شِئۡتُمۡۖ
shi'tum
you wish
وَقَدِّمُواْ
waqaddimu
and send forth (good deeds)
لِأَنفُسِكُمۡۚ
li-anfusikum
for yourselves
وَٱتَّقُواْ
wa-ittaqu
And be conscious
ٱللَّهَ
al-laha
(of) Allah
وَٱعۡلَمُوٓاْ
wa-i'lamu
and know
أَنَّكُم
annakum
that you
مُّلَٰقُوهُۗ
mulaquhu
(will) meet Him
وَبَشِّرِ
wabashiri
And give glad tidings
ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِينَ
al-mu'minina
(to) the believers
٢٢٣
2:224
وَلَا
wala
And (do) not
تَجۡعَلُواْ
taj'alu
make
ٱللَّهَ
al-laha
Allah's (name)
عُرۡضَةٗ
ur'datan
an excuse
لِّأَيۡمَٰنِكُمۡ
li-aymanikum
in your oaths
أَن
an
that
تَبَرُّواْ
tabarru
you do good
وَتَتَّقُواْ
watattaqu
and be righteous
وَتُصۡلِحُواْ
watus'lihu
and make peace
بَيۡنَ
bayna
between
ٱلنَّاسِۚ
al-nasi
[the] people
وَٱللَّهُ
wal-lahu
And Allah
سَمِيعٌ
sami'un
(is) All-Hearing
عَلِيمٞ
alimun
All-Knowing

2:225
لَّا
la
Not
يُؤَاخِذُكُمُ
yuakhidhukumu
will take you to task
ٱللَّهُ
al-lahu
Allah
بِٱللَّغۡوِ
bil-laghwi
for (what is) unintentional
فِيٓ
fi
in
أَيۡمَٰنِكُمۡ
aymanikum
your oaths
وَلَٰكِن
walakin
[and] but
يُؤَاخِذُكُم
yuakhidhukum
He takes you to task
بِمَا
bima
for what
كَسَبَتۡ
kasabat
(have) earned
قُلُوبُكُمۡۗ
qulubukum
your hearts
وَٱللَّهُ
wal-lahu
And Allah
غَفُورٌ
ghafurun
(is) Oft-Forgiving
حَلِيمٞ
halimun
Most Forbearing
٢٢٥
2:226
لِّلَّذِينَ
lilladhina
For those who
يُؤۡلُونَ
yu'luna
swear (off)
مِن
min
from
نِّسَآئِهِمۡ
nisaihim
their wives
تَرَبُّصُ
tarabbusu
(is a) waiting (of)
أَرۡبَعَةِ
arba'ati
four
أَشۡهُرٖۖ
ashhurin
months
فَإِن
fa-in
then if
فَآءُو
fau
they return
فَإِنَّ
fa-inna
then indeed
ٱللَّهَ
al-laha
Allah
غَفُورٞ
ghafurun
(is) Oft-Forgiving
رَّحِيمٞ
rahimun
Most Merciful
٢٢٦
2:227
وَإِنۡ
wa-in
And if
عَزَمُواْ
azamu
they resolve
ٱلطَّلَٰقَ
al-talaqa
(on) [the] divorce
فَإِنَّ
fa-inna
then indeed
ٱللَّهَ
al-laha
Allah
سَمِيعٌ
sami'un
(is) All-Hearing
عَلِيمٞ
alimun
All-Knowing
٢٢٧
2:228
وَٱلۡمُطَلَّقَٰتُ
wal-mutalaqatu
And the women who are divorced
يَتَرَبَّصۡنَ
yatarabbasna
shall wait
بِأَنفُسِهِنَّ
bi-anfusihinna
concerning themselves
ثَلَٰثَةَ
thalathata
(for) three
قُرُوٓءٖۚ
quruin
monthly periods
وَلَا
wala
And (it is) not
يَحِلُّ
yahillu
lawful
لَهُنَّ
lahunna
for them
أَن
an
that
يَكۡتُمۡنَ
yaktum'na
they conceal
مَا
ma
what
خَلَقَ
khalaqa
(has been) created
ٱللَّهُ
al-lahu
(by) Allah
فِيٓ
fi
in
أَرۡحَامِهِنَّ
arhamihinna
their wombs
إِن
in
if
كُنَّ
kunna
they
يُؤۡمِنَّ
yu'minna
believe
بِٱللَّهِ
bil-lahi
in Allah
وَٱلۡيَوۡمِ
wal-yawmi
and the Day
ٱلۡأٓخِرِۚ
al-akhiri
[the] Last
وَبُعُولَتُهُنَّ
wabu'ulatuhunna
And their husbands
أَحَقُّ
ahaqqu
(have) better right
بِرَدِّهِنَّ
biraddihinna
to take them back
فِي
fi
in
ذَٰلِكَ
dhalika
that (period)
إِنۡ
in
if
أَرَادُوٓاْ
aradu
they wish
إِصۡلَٰحٗاۚ
is'lahan
(for) reconciliation
وَلَهُنَّ
walahunna
And for them
مِثۡلُ
mith'lu
(is the) like
ٱلَّذِي
alladhi
(of) that which
عَلَيۡهِنَّ
alayhinna
(is) on them
بِٱلۡمَعۡرُوفِۚ
bil-ma'rufi
in a reasonable manner
وَلِلرِّجَالِ
walilrrijali
and for the men
عَلَيۡهِنَّ
alayhinna
over them
دَرَجَةٞۗ
darajatun
(is) a degree
وَٱللَّهُ
wal-lahu
And Allah
عَزِيزٌ
azizun
(is) All-Mighty
حَكِيمٌ
hakimun
All-Wise
٢٢٨
2:229
ٱلطَّلَٰقُ
al-talaqu
The divorce
مَرَّتَانِۖ
marratani
(is) twice
فَإِمۡسَاكُۢ
fa-im'sakun
Then to retain
بِمَعۡرُوفٍ
bima'rufin
in a reasonable manner
أَوۡ
aw
or
تَسۡرِيحُۢ
tasrihun
to release (her)
بِإِحۡسَٰنٖۗ
bi-ih'sanin
with kindness
وَلَا
wala
And (it is) not
يَحِلُّ
yahillu
lawful
لَكُمۡ
lakum
for you
أَن
an
that
تَأۡخُذُواْ
takhudhu
you take (back)
مِمَّآ
mimma
whatever
ءَاتَيۡتُمُوهُنَّ
ataytumuhunna
you have given them
شَيۡـًٔا
shayan
anything
إِلَّآ
illa
except
أَن
an
if
يَخَافَآ
yakhafa
both fear
أَلَّا
alla
that not
يُقِيمَا
yuqima
they both (can) keep
حُدُودَ
hududa
(the) limits
ٱللَّهِۖ
al-lahi
(of) Allah
فَإِنۡ
fa-in
But if
خِفۡتُمۡ
khif'tum
you fear
أَلَّا
alla
that not
يُقِيمَا
yuqima
they both (can) keep
حُدُودَ
hududa
(the) limits
ٱللَّهِ
al-lahi
(of) Allah
فَلَا
fala
then (there is) no
جُنَاحَ
junaha
sin
عَلَيۡهِمَا
alayhima
on both of them
فِيمَا
fima
in what
ٱفۡتَدَتۡ
if'tadat
she ransoms
بِهِۦۗ
bihi
concerning it
تِلۡكَ
til'ka
These
حُدُودُ
hududu
(are the) limits
ٱللَّهِ
al-lahi
(of) Allah
فَلَا
fala
so (do) not
تَعۡتَدُوهَاۚ
ta'taduha
transgress them
وَمَن
waman
And whoever
يَتَعَدَّ
yata'adda
transgresses
حُدُودَ
hududa
(the) limits
ٱللَّهِ
al-lahi
(of) Allah
فَأُوْلَٰٓئِكَ
fa-ulaika
then those
هُمُ
humu
they
ٱلظَّٰلِمُونَ
al-zalimuna
(are) the wrongdoers
٢٢٩
2:230
فَإِن
fa-in
Then if
طَلَّقَهَا
tallaqaha
he divorces her
فَلَا
fala
then (she is) not
تَحِلُّ
tahillu
lawful
لَهُۥ
lahu
for him
مِنۢ
min
from
بَعۡدُ
ba'du
after (that)
حَتَّىٰ
hatta
until
تَنكِحَ
tankiha
she marries
زَوۡجًا
zawjan
a spouse
غَيۡرَهُۥۗ
ghayrahu
other than him
فَإِن
fa-in
Then if
طَلَّقَهَا
tallaqaha
he divorces her
فَلَا
fala
then no
جُنَاحَ
junaha
sin
عَلَيۡهِمَآ
alayhima
on them
أَن
an
if
يَتَرَاجَعَآ
yataraja'a
they return to each other
إِن
in
if
ظَنَّآ
zanna
they believe
أَن
an
that
يُقِيمَا
yuqima
they (will be able to) keep
حُدُودَ
hududa
(the) limits
ٱللَّهِۗ
al-lahi
(of) Allah
وَتِلۡكَ
watil'ka
And these
حُدُودُ
hududu
(are the) limits
ٱللَّهِ
al-lahi
(of) Allah
يُبَيِّنُهَا
yubayyinuha
He makes them clear
لِقَوۡمٖ
liqawmin
to a people
يَعۡلَمُونَ
ya'lamuna
who know
٢٣٠

2:231
وَإِذَا
wa-idha
And when
طَلَّقۡتُمُ
tallaqtumu
you divorce
ٱلنِّسَآءَ
al-nisaa
the women
فَبَلَغۡنَ
fabalaghna
and they reach
أَجَلَهُنَّ
ajalahunna
their (waiting) term
فَأَمۡسِكُوهُنَّ
fa-amsikuhunna
then retain them
بِمَعۡرُوفٍ
bima'rufin
in a fair manner
أَوۡ
aw
or
سَرِّحُوهُنَّ
sarrihuhunna
release them
بِمَعۡرُوفٖۚ
bima'rufin
in a fair manner
وَلَا
wala
And (do) not
تُمۡسِكُوهُنَّ
tum'sikuhunna
retain them
ضِرَارٗا
diraran
(to) hurt
لِّتَعۡتَدُواْۚ
lita'tadu
so that you transgress
وَمَن
waman
And whoever
يَفۡعَلۡ
yaf 'al
does
ذَٰلِكَ
dhalika
that
فَقَدۡ
faqad
then indeed
ظَلَمَ
zalama
he wronged
نَفۡسَهُۥۚ
nafsahu
himself
وَلَا
wala
And (do) not
تَتَّخِذُوٓاْ
tattakhidhu
take
ءَايَٰتِ
ayati
(the) Verses
ٱللَّهِ
al-lahi
(of) Allah
هُزُوٗاۚ
huzuwan
(in) jest
وَٱذۡكُرُواْ
wa-udh'kuru
and remember
نِعۡمَتَ
ni'mata
(the) Favors
ٱللَّهِ
al-lahi
(of) Allah
عَلَيۡكُمۡ
alaykum
upon you
وَمَآ
wama
and what
أَنزَلَ
anzala
(is) revealed
عَلَيۡكُم
alaykum
to you
مِّنَ
mina
of
ٱلۡكِتَٰبِ
al-kitabi
the Book
وَٱلۡحِكۡمَةِ
wal-hik'mati
and [the] wisdom
يَعِظُكُم
ya'izukum
He instructs you
بِهِۦۚ
bihi
with it
وَٱتَّقُواْ
wa-ittaqu
And fear
ٱللَّهَ
al-laha
Allah
وَٱعۡلَمُوٓاْ
wa-i'lamu
and know
أَنَّ
anna
that
ٱللَّهَ
al-laha
Allah (is)
بِكُلِّ
bikulli
of every
شَيۡءٍ
shayin
thing
عَلِيمٞ
alimun
All-Knower
٢٣١
2:232
وَإِذَا
wa-idha
And when
طَلَّقۡتُمُ
tallaqtumu
you divorce
ٱلنِّسَآءَ
al-nisaa
[the] women
فَبَلَغۡنَ
fabalaghna
and they reached
أَجَلَهُنَّ
ajalahunna
their (waiting) term
فَلَا
fala
then (do) not
تَعۡضُلُوهُنَّ
ta'duluhunna
hinder them
أَن
an
[that]
يَنكِحۡنَ
yankih'na
(from) marrying
أَزۡوَٰجَهُنَّ
azwajahunna
their husbands
إِذَا
idha
when
تَرَٰضَوۡاْ
taradaw
they agree
بَيۡنَهُم
baynahum
between themselves
بِٱلۡمَعۡرُوفِۗ
bil-ma'rufi
in a fair manner
ذَٰلِكَ
dhalika
That
يُوعَظُ
yu'azu
is admonished
بِهِۦ
bihi
with it
مَن
man
whoever
كَانَ
kana
[is]
مِنكُمۡ
minkum
among you
يُؤۡمِنُ
yu'minu
believes
بِٱللَّهِ
bil-lahi
in Allah
وَٱلۡيَوۡمِ
wal-yawmi
and the Day
ٱلۡأٓخِرِۗ
al-akhiri
[the] Last
ذَٰلِكُمۡ
dhalikum
that
أَزۡكَىٰ
azka
(is) more virtuous
لَكُمۡ
lakum
for you
وَأَطۡهَرُۚ
wa-atharu
and more purer
وَٱللَّهُ
wal-lahu
And Allah
يَعۡلَمُ
ya'lamu
knows
وَأَنتُمۡ
wa-antum
and you
لَا
la
(do) not
تَعۡلَمُونَ
ta'lamuna
know
