2:158

۞إِنَّ

ʹInnaṣ

Indeed

ٱلصَّفَا

S̤afaa

the Safa

وَٱلۡمَرۡوَةَ

wal-Marwata

and the Marwah

مِن

miñ

(are) from

شَعَآئِرِ

Shaʻaaʹiril

(the) symbols

ٱللَّهِۖ

laah.

(of) Allah

فَمَنۡ

Faman

So whoever

حَجَّ

ḥajjal

performs Hajj

ٱلۡبَيۡتَ

Bayta

(of) the House

أَوِ

ʹawiʻ

ٱعۡتَمَرَ

tamara

performs Umrah

فَلَا

falaa

so no

جُنَاحَ

Junaaḥa

blame

عَلَيۡهِ

ʻalayhi

on him

أَن

ʻany

that

يَطَّوَّفَ

yaṭṭawwafa

he walks

بِهِمَاۚ

bihimaa.

between [both of] them

وَمَن

Wa-mañ

And whoever

تَطَوَّعَ

taṭawwaʻa

voluntarily does

خَيۡرٗا

khayrañ

good

فَإِنَّ

faʹinnal

then indeed

ٱللَّهَ

laha

Allah

شَاكِرٌ

Shaakirun

(is) All-Appreciative

عَلِيمٌ

ʻAleem.

All-Knowing

١٥٨

2:159

إِنَّ

ʹInnal

Indeed

ٱلَّذِينَ

laẓeena

those who

يَكۡتُمُونَ

yaktumoona

conceal

مَآ

maaa

what

أَنزَلۡنَا

ʹañzalnaa

We revealed

مِنَ

minal

ٱلۡبَيِّنَٰتِ

bayyinaati

the clear proofs

وَٱلۡهُدَىٰ

walhudaa

and the Guidance

مِنۢ

mim

from

بَعۡدِ

baʻdi

after

مَا

maa-

[what]

بَيَّنَّٰهُ

bayyannaahu

We made clear

لِلنَّاسِ

linnaasi

to the people

فِي

fil

ٱلۡكِتَٰبِ

Kitaabi

the Book

أُوْلَٰٓئِكَ

ʹulaaaʹika

those

يَلۡعَنُهُمُ

yalʻanuhumul

curses them

ٱللَّهُ

laahu

Allah

وَيَلۡعَنُهُمُ

wa-yalʻanuhumul

and curse them

ٱللَّٰعِنُونَ

laa-ʻinoon,

the ones who curse

١٥٩

2:160

إِلَّا

ʹIllal

Except

ٱلَّذِينَ

laẓeena

those

تَابُواْ

taaboo

who repent[ed]

وَأَصۡلَحُواْ

wa-ʹaṣlaḥoo

and reform[ed]

وَبَيَّنُواْ

wa-bayyanoo

and openly declar[ed]

فَأُوْلَٰٓئِكَ

faʹulaaaʹika

Then those

أَتُوبُ

ʹatoobu

I will accept repentance

عَلَيۡهِمۡ

ʻalayhim;

from them

وَأَنَا

wa-ʹAnat

and I (am)

ٱلتَّوَّابُ

Tawwaabur

the Acceptor of Repentance

ٱلرَّحِيمُ

Raḥeem.

the Most Merciful

١٦٠

2:161

إِنَّ

ʹInnal

Indeed

ٱلَّذِينَ

laẓeena

those who

كَفَرُواْ

kafaroo

disbelieve[d]

وَمَاتُواْ

wa-maatoo

and die[d]

وَهُمۡ

wa-hum

while they

كُفَّارٌ

kuffaarun

(were) disbelievers

أُوْلَٰٓئِكَ

ʹulaaaʹika

those

عَلَيۡهِمۡ

ʻalayhim

on them

لَعۡنَةُ

laʻnatul

(is the) curse

ٱللَّهِ

laahi

(of) Allah

وَٱلۡمَلَٰٓئِكَةِ

walmalaaaʹikati

and the Angels

وَٱلنَّاسِ

wannaasi

and the mankind

أَجۡمَعِينَ

ʹajmaʻeen,

all together

١٦١

2:162

خَٰلِدِينَ

Khaalideena

(Will) abide forever

فِيهَا

feehaa:

in it

لَا

laa-

Not

يُخَفَّفُ

yukhaffafu

will be lightened

عَنۡهُمُ

ʻanhumul

for them

ٱلۡعَذَابُ

ʻaẓaabu

the punishment

وَلَا

wa-laa

and not

هُمۡ

hum

they

يُنظَرُونَ

yuñz̤̣aroon.

will be reprieved

١٦٢

2:163

وَإِلَٰهُكُمۡ

Wa-ʹIlaahukum

And your God

إِلَٰهٞ

Ilaahuñw

(is) God

وَٰحِدٞۖ

Waaḥid:

one (only)

لَّآ

Laaa

(there is) no

إِلَٰهَ

ʹilaaha

god

إِلَّا

ʹillaa

except

هُوَ

Huwar

Him

ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنُ

Raḥmaanur

the Most Gracious

ٱلرَّحِيمُ

Raḥeem.

the Most Merciful

2:164

إِنَّ

ʹInna

Indeed

فِي

fee

خَلۡقِ

khalq̣is

(the) creation

ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ

samaawaati

(of) the heavens

وَٱلۡأَرۡضِ

wal-ʹarḍi

and the earth

وَٱخۡتِلَٰفِ

Wakhtilaafil

and alternation

ٱلَّيۡلِ

layli

of the night

وَٱلنَّهَارِ

wannahaari

and the day

وَٱلۡفُلۡكِ

walfulkil

and the ships

ٱلَّتِي

latee

which

تَجۡرِي

tajree

sail

فِي

fil

ٱلۡبَحۡرِ

baḥri

the sea

بِمَا

bimaa

with what

يَنفَعُ

yañfaʻun

benefits

ٱلنَّاسَ

naasa

[the] people

وَمَآ

wa-maaa

and what

أَنزَلَ

ʻañzalal

(has) sent down

ٱللَّهُ

laahu

Allah

مِنَ

minas

from

ٱلسَّمَآءِ

samaaaʹi

the sky

مِن

mim

[of]

مَّآءٖ

maaaʹiñ

water

فَأَحۡيَا

faʹaḥyaa

giving life

بِهِ

bihil

thereby

ٱلۡأَرۡضَ

ʹarẓa

(to) the earth

بَعۡدَ

baʻda

after

مَوۡتِهَا

mawtihaa

its death

وَبَثَّ

wa-bas̤s̤a

and dispersing

فِيهَا

feehaa

therein

مِن

miñ

[of]

كُلِّ

kulli

every

دَآبَّةٖ

daabbah:

moving creature

وَتَصۡرِيفِ

wa-taṣreefir

and directing

ٱلرِّيَٰحِ

riyaaḥi

(of) the winds

وَٱلسَّحَابِ

was-saḥaabil

and the clouds

ٱلۡمُسَخَّرِ

musakhkhari

[the] controlled

بَيۡنَ

baynas

between

ٱلسَّمَآءِ

samaaaʹi

the sky

وَٱلۡأَرۡضِ

wal-ʹarḍi

and the earth

لَأٓيَٰتٖ

laʹAayaatil

surely (are) Signs

لِّقَوۡمٖ

liq̣awmiñy

for a people

يَعۡقِلُونَ

yaʻq̣iloon.

who use their intellect

١٦٤

2:165

وَمِنَ

Wa-minan

And among

ٱلنَّاسِ

naasi

the mankind

مَن

mañy

who

يَتَّخِذُ

yattakhiẓu

takes

مِن

miñ

from

دُونِ

doonil

besides

ٱللَّهِ

laahi

Allah

أَندَادٗا

ʹañdaadañy

equals

يُحِبُّونَهُمۡ

yuḥibboonahum

They love them

كَحُبِّ

kaḥubbil

as (they should) love

ٱللَّهِۖ

laah.

Allah

وَٱلَّذِينَ

Wallaẓeena

And those who

ءَامَنُوٓاْ

ʹaamanooo

believe[d]

أَشَدُّ

ʹashaddu

(are) stronger

حُبّٗا

ḥubbal

(in) love

لِّلَّهِۗ

lillaah.

for Allah

وَلَوۡ

Wa-law

And if

يَرَى

yaral

would see

ٱلَّذِينَ

laẓeena

those who

ظَلَمُوٓاْ

z̤̣alamooo

wronged

إِذۡ

ʹiẓ

when

يَرَوۡنَ

yarawnal

they will see

ٱلۡعَذَابَ

ʻaẓaaba

the punishment

أَنَّ

ʹannal

that

ٱلۡقُوَّةَ

Q̣uwwata

the power

لِلَّهِ

lillaahi

(belongs) to Allah

جَمِيعٗا

jameeʻañw

all

وَأَنَّ

waʹannal

and [that]

ٱللَّهَ

laaha

Allah

شَدِيدُ

Shadeedul

(is) severe

ٱلۡعَذَابِ

ʻaẓaab.

(in) [the] punishment

١٦٥

2:166

إِذۡ

ʹIẓ

When

تَبَرَّأَ

tabarraʹal

will disown

ٱلَّذِينَ

laẓeenat

those who

ٱتُّبِعُواْ

tubiʻoo

were followed

مِنَ

minal

[from]

ٱلَّذِينَ

laẓeenat

those who

ٱتَّبَعُواْ

tabaʻoo

followed

وَرَأَوُاْ

wa-raʹawul

and they will see

ٱلۡعَذَابَ

ʻaẓaaba

the punishment

وَتَقَطَّعَتۡ

wa-taq̣aṭṭaʻat

[and] will be cut off

بِهِمُ

bihimul

for them

ٱلۡأَسۡبَابُ

ʹasbaab.

the relations

١٦٦

2:167

وَقَالَ

Wa-q̣aalal

And said

ٱلَّذِينَ

laẓeenat

those who

ٱتَّبَعُواْ

tabaʻoo

followed

لَوۡ

law

(Only) if

أَنَّ

ʹanna

[that]

لَنَا

lanaa

for us

كَرَّةٗ

karratañ

a return

فَنَتَبَرَّأَ

fanatabarraʹa

then we will disown

مِنۡهُمۡ

minhum

[from] them

كَمَا

kamaa

تَبَرَّءُواْ

tabarraʹoo

they disown

مِنَّاۗ

minnaa.

[from] us

كَذَٰلِكَ

Kaẓaalika

Thus

يُرِيهِمُ

yureehimul

will show them

ٱللَّهُ

laahu

Allah

أَعۡمَٰلَهُمۡ

ʹaʻmaalahum

their deeds

حَسَرَٰتٍ

ḥasaraatin

(as) regrets

عَلَيۡهِمۡۖ

ʻalayhim.

for them

وَمَا

Wa-maa

And not

هُم

hum̃

they

بِخَٰرِجِينَ

bikhaarijeena

will come out

مِنَ

minan

from

ٱلنَّارِ

Naar.

the Fire

١٦٧

2:168

يَٰٓأَيُّهَا

Yaaaʹayyuhan

ٱلنَّاسُ

naasu

mankind

كُلُواْ

kuloo

Eat

مِمَّا

mimmaa

of what

فِي

fil

(is) in

ٱلۡأَرۡضِ

ʹarḍi

the earth

حَلَٰلٗا

Ḥalaalañ

lawful

طَيِّبٗا

ṭayyibaa;

(and) good

وَلَا

wa-laa

And (do) not

تَتَّبِعُواْ

tattabiʻoo

خُطُوَٰتِ

Khuṭuwaatish

(the) footsteps (of)

ٱلشَّيۡطَٰنِۚ

Shayṭaan.

the Shaitaan

إِنَّهُۥ

ʹInnahoo

Indeed he

لَكُمۡ

lakum

(is) to you

عَدُوّٞ

ʻaduwwum

an enemy

مُّبِينٌ

mubeen.

clear

١٦٨

2:169

إِنَّمَا

ʹInnamaa

Only

يَأۡمُرُكُم

yaʹmurukum̃

he commands you

بِٱلسُّوٓءِ

bis-soooʹi

to (do) the evil

وَٱلۡفَحۡشَآءِ

walfaḥshaaaʹi

and the shameful

وَأَن

wa-ʹañ

and that

تَقُولُواْ

taq̣ooloo

you say

عَلَى

ʻalal

about

ٱللَّهِ

laahi

Allah

مَا

maa-

what

لَا

laa-

not

تَعۡلَمُونَ

taʻlamoon.

you know

2:170

وَإِذَا

Wa-ʹiẓaa

And when

قِيلَ

q̣eela

it is said

لَهُمُ

lahumut

to them

ٱتَّبِعُواْ

tabiʻoo

مَآ

maaa

what

أَنزَلَ

ʹañzalal

has revealed

ٱللَّهُ

laahu

Allah

قَالُواْ

q̣aaloo

they said

بَلۡ

bal

Nay

نَتَّبِعُ

nattabiʻu

we follow

مَآ

maaa

what

أَلۡفَيۡنَا

ʹalfaynaa

we found

عَلَيۡهِ

ʻalayhi

[on it]

ءَابَآءَنَآۚ

ʹaabaaaʹanaa.

our forefathers (following)

أَوَلَوۡ

ʹAwa-law

Even though

كَانَ

kaana

[were]

ءَابَآؤُهُمۡ

ʹaabaaaʹuhum

their forefathers

لَا

laa-

(did) not

يَعۡقِلُونَ

yaʻq̣iloona

understand

شَيۡـٔٗا

shayʹañw

anything

وَلَا

walaa

and not

يَهۡتَدُونَ

yahtadoon?

were they guided

١٧٠

2:171

وَمَثَلُ

Wa-mas̤alul

And (the) example

ٱلَّذِينَ

laẓeena

(of) those who

كَفَرُواْ

kafaroo

disbelieve[d]

كَمَثَلِ

kamas̤alil

(is) like (the) example

ٱلَّذِي

laẓee

(of) the one who

يَنۡعِقُ

yanʻiq̣u

shouts

بِمَا

bimaa

at what

لَا

laa-

not

يَسۡمَعُ

yasmaʻu

(does) hear

إِلَّا

ʹillaa

except

دُعَآءٗ

duʻaaaʹañw

calls

وَنِدَآءٗۚ

wanidaaaʹaa.

and cries

صُمُّۢ

S̤ummum̃

deaf

بُكۡمٌ

bukmun

dumb

عُمۡيٞ

ʻumyuñ

(and) blind

فَهُمۡ

fahum

[so] they

لَا

laa-

(do) not

يَعۡقِلُونَ

yaʻq̣iloon.

understand

١٧١

2:172

يَٰٓأَيُّهَا

Yaaaʹayyuhal

O you

ٱلَّذِينَ

laẓeena

who

ءَامَنُواْ

ʹaamanoo

believe[d]

كُلُواْ

kuloo

Eat

مِن

miñ

from

طَيِّبَٰتِ

ṭayyibaati

(the) good

مَا

maa-

(of) what

رَزَقۡنَٰكُمۡ

razaq̣naakum

We have provided you

وَٱشۡكُرُواْ

washkuroo

and be grateful

لِلَّهِ

lillahi

to Allah

إِن

ʹiñ

كُنتُمۡ

kuñtum

you

إِيَّاهُ

ʹiyyaahu

alone

تَعۡبُدُونَ

taʻbudoon.

worship Him

١٧٢

2:173

إِنَّمَا

ʹInnamaa

Only

حَرَّمَ

ḥarrama

He has forbidden

عَلَيۡكُمُ

ʻalaykumul

to you

ٱلۡمَيۡتَةَ

maytata

the dead animals

وَٱلدَّمَ

waddama

and [the] blood

وَلَحۡمَ

wa-laḥmal

and flesh

ٱلۡخِنزِيرِ

khiñzeeri

(of) swine

وَمَآ

wa-maaa

and what

أُهِلَّ

ʹuhilla

has been dedicated

بِهِۦ

bihee

[with it]

لِغَيۡرِ

lig̣ayril

to other than

ٱللَّهِۖ

laah.

Allah

فَمَنِ

Famaniḍ

So whoever

ٱضۡطُرَّ

ṭurra

(is) forced by necessity

غَيۡرَ

g̣ayra

without

بَاغٖ

baag̣iñw

(being) disobedient

وَلَا

walaa

and not

عَادٖ

ʻaadiñ

transgressor

فَلَآ

falaaa

then no

إِثۡمَ

ʹis̤ma

sin

عَلَيۡهِۚ

ʻalayh.

on him

إِنَّ

ʹInnal

Indeed

ٱللَّهَ

laaha

Allah

غَفُورٞ

G̣afoorur

(is) Oft-Forgiving

رَّحِيمٌ

Raḥeem.

Most Merciful

١٧٣

2:174

إِنَّ

ʹInnal

Indeed

ٱلَّذِينَ

laẓeeena

those who

يَكۡتُمُونَ

yaktumoona

conceal

مَآ

maaa

what

أَنزَلَ

ʹañzalal

(has) revealed

ٱللَّهُ

laahu

Allah (has)

مِنَ

minal

ٱلۡكِتَٰبِ

Kitaabi

the Book

وَيَشۡتَرُونَ

wa-yashtaroona

and they purchase

بِهِۦ

bihee

there with

ثَمَنٗا

s̤amanañ

a gain

قَلِيلًا

q̣aleelan

little

أُوْلَٰٓئِكَ

ʹulaaaʹika

Those

مَا

maa-

not

يَأۡكُلُونَ

yaʹkuloona

they eat

فِي

fee

بُطُونِهِمۡ

buṭoonihim

their bellies

إِلَّا

illan

except

ٱلنَّارَ

Naara

the Fire

وَلَا

wa-laa

And not

يُكَلِّمُهُمُ

yukallimuhumul

will speak to them

ٱللَّهُ

laahu

Allah

يَوۡمَ

Yawmal

(on the) Day

ٱلۡقِيَٰمَةِ

Q̣iyaamati

(of) [the] Judgment

وَلَا

wa-laa

and not

يُزَكِّيهِمۡ

yuzakkeehim

will He purify them

وَلَهُمۡ

wa-lahum

and for them

عَذَابٌ

ʻaẓaabun

(is) a punishment

أَلِيمٌ

ʹaleem.

painful

١٧٤

2:175

أُوْلَٰٓئِكَ

ʹUlaaaʹikal

Those

ٱلَّذِينَ

lazeenash

(are) they who

ٱشۡتَرَوُاْ

tarawuḍ

purchase[d]

ٱلضَّلَٰلَةَ

ḍalaalata

[the] astraying

بِٱلۡهُدَىٰ

bilhudaa

for [the] Guidance

وَٱلۡعَذَابَ

walʻaẓaaba

and [the] punishment

بِٱلۡمَغۡفِرَةِۚ

bilmag̣firah.

for [the] forgiveness

فَمَآ

Famaaa

So what (is)

أَصۡبَرَهُمۡ

ʹaṣbarahum

their endurance

عَلَى

ʻalan

ٱلنَّارِ

Naar!

the Fire

١٧٥

2:176

ذَٰلِكَ

Ẓaalika

That

بِأَنَّ

biʹannal

(is) because

ٱللَّهَ

laaha

Allah

نَزَّلَ

nazzalal

revealed

ٱلۡكِتَٰبَ

Kitaba

the Book

بِٱلۡحَقِّۗ

bil-Ḥaq̣q̣.

with [the] Truth

وَإِنَّ

Wa-ʹinnal

And indeed

ٱلَّذِينَ

laẓeenakh

those

ٱخۡتَلَفُواْ

talafoo

who differed

فِي

fil

ٱلۡكِتَٰبِ

Kitaabi

the Book

لَفِي

lafee

(are) surely in

شِقَاقِۭ

shiq̣aaq̣im

schism

بَعِيدٖ

baʻeed.

far
