1:1

بِسۡمِ

bis'mi

In (the) name

ٱللَّهِ

al-lahi

(of) Allah

ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنِ

al-rahmani

the Most Gracious

ٱلرَّحِيمِ

al-rahimi

the Most Merciful

1:2

ٱلۡحَمۡدُ

al-hamdu

All praises and thanks

لِلَّهِ

lillahi

(be) to Allah

رَبِّ

rabbi

the Lord

ٱلۡعَٰلَمِينَ

al-'alamina

of the universe

1:3

ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنِ

al-rahmani

The Most Gracious

ٱلرَّحِيمِ

al-rahimi

the Most Merciful

1:4

مَٰلِكِ

maliki

(The) Master

يَوۡمِ

yawmi

(of the) Day

ٱلدِّينِ

al-dini

(of the) Judgment

1:5

إِيَّاكَ

iyyaka

You Alone

نَعۡبُدُ

na'budu

we worship

وَإِيَّاكَ

wa-iyyaka

and You Alone

نَسۡتَعِينُ

nasta'inu

we ask for help

1:6

ٱهۡدِنَا

ih'dina

Guide us

ٱلصِّرَٰطَ

al-sirata

(to) the path

ٱلۡمُسۡتَقِيمَ

al-mus'taqima

the straight

1:7

صِرَٰطَ

sirata

(The) path

ٱلَّذِينَ

alladhina

(of) those

أَنۡعَمۡتَ

an'amta

You have bestowed (Your) Favors

عَلَيۡهِمۡ

alayhim

on them

غَيۡرِ

ghayri

not (of)

ٱلۡمَغۡضُوبِ

al-maghdubi

those who earned (Your) wrath

عَلَيۡهِمۡ

alayhim

on themselves

وَلَا

wala

and not

ٱلضَّآلِّينَ

al-dalina

(of) those who go astray

2:1

الٓمٓ

alif-lam-meem

Alif Laam Meem

2:2

ذَٰلِكَ

dhalika

That

ٱلۡكِتَٰبُ

al-kitabu

(is) the book

لَا

رَيۡبَۛ

rayba

doubt

فِيهِۛ

fihi

in it

هُدٗى

hudan

a Guidance

لِّلۡمُتَّقِينَ

lil'muttaqina

for the God-conscious

2:3

ٱلَّذِينَ

alladhina

Those who

يُؤۡمِنُونَ

yu'minuna

believe

بِٱلۡغَيۡبِ

bil-ghaybi

in the unseen

وَيُقِيمُونَ

wayuqimuna

and establish

ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ

al-salata

the prayer

وَمِمَّا

wamimma

and out of what

رَزَقۡنَٰهُمۡ

razaqnahum

We have provided them

يُنفِقُونَ

yunfiquna

they spend

2:4

وَٱلَّذِينَ

wa-alladhina

And those who

يُؤۡمِنُونَ

yu'minuna

believe

بِمَآ

bima

in what

أُنزِلَ

unzila

(is) sent down

إِلَيۡكَ

ilayka

to you

وَمَآ

wama

and what

أُنزِلَ

unzila

was sent down

مِن

min

from

قَبۡلِكَ

qablika

before you

وَبِٱلۡأٓخِرَةِ

wabil-akhirati

and in the Hereafter

هُمۡ

hum

they

يُوقِنُونَ

yuqinuna

firmly believe

2:5

أُوْلَٰٓئِكَ

ulaika

Those

عَلَىٰ

ala

(are) on

هُدٗى

hudan

Guidance

مِّن

min

from

رَّبِّهِمۡۖ

rabbihim

their Lord

وَأُوْلَٰٓئِكَ

wa-ulaika

and those

هُمُ

humu

they

ٱلۡمُفۡلِحُونَ

al-muf'lihuna

(are) the successful ones

2:6

إِنَّ

inna

Indeed

ٱلَّذِينَ

alladhina

those who

كَفَرُواْ

kafaru

disbelieve[d]

سَوَآءٌ

sawaon

(it) is same

عَلَيۡهِمۡ

alayhim

to them

ءَأَنذَرۡتَهُمۡ

a-andhartahum

whether you warn them

أَمۡ

لَمۡ

lam

not

تُنذِرۡهُمۡ

tundhir'hum

you warn them

لَا

not

يُؤۡمِنُونَ

yu'minuna

they believe

2:7

خَتَمَ

khatama

Has set a seal

ٱللَّهُ

al-lahu

Allah

عَلَىٰ

ala

قُلُوبِهِمۡ

qulubihim

their hearts

وَعَلَىٰ

wa'ala

and on

سَمۡعِهِمۡۖ

sam'ihim

their hearing

وَعَلَىٰٓ

wa'ala

and on

أَبۡصَٰرِهِمۡ

absarihim

their vision

غِشَٰوَةٞۖ

ghishawatun

(is) a veil

وَلَهُمۡ

walahum

And for them

عَذَابٌ

adhabun

(is) a punishment

عَظِيمٞ

azimun

great

2:8

وَمِنَ

wamina

And of

ٱلنَّاسِ

al-nasi

the people

مَن

man

(are some) who

يَقُولُ

yaqulu

say

ءَامَنَّا

amanna

We believed

بِٱللَّهِ

bil-lahi

in Allah

وَبِٱلۡيَوۡمِ

wabil-yawmi

and in the Day

ٱلۡأٓخِرِ

al-akhiri

[the] Last

وَمَا

wama

but not

هُم

hum

they

بِمُؤۡمِنِينَ

bimu'minina

(are) believers (at all)

2:9

يُخَٰدِعُونَ

yukhadi'una

They seek to deceive

ٱللَّهَ

al-laha

Allah

وَٱلَّذِينَ

wa-alladhina

and those who

ءَامَنُواْ

amanu

believe[d]

وَمَا

wama

and not

يَخۡدَعُونَ

yakhda'una

they deceive

إِلَّآ

illa

except

أَنفُسَهُمۡ

anfusahum

themselves

وَمَا

wama

and not

يَشۡعُرُونَ

yash'uruna

they realize (it)

2:10

فِي

قُلُوبِهِم

qulubihim

their hearts

مَّرَضٞ

maradun

(is) a disease

فَزَادَهُمُ

fazadahumu

so has increased them

ٱللَّهُ

al-lahu

Allah

مَرَضٗاۖ

maradan

(in) disease

وَلَهُمۡ

walahum

and for them

عَذَابٌ

adhabun

(is) a punishment

أَلِيمُۢ

alimun

painful

بِمَا

bima

because

كَانُواْ

kanu

they used to

يَكۡذِبُونَ

yakdhibuna

[they] lie

١٠

2:11

وَإِذَا

wa-idha

And when

قِيلَ

qila

it is said

لَهُمۡ

lahum

to them

لَا

(Do) not

تُفۡسِدُواْ

tuf'sidu

spread corruption

فِي

ٱلۡأَرۡضِ

al-ardi

the earth

قَالُوٓاْ

qalu

they say

إِنَّمَا

innama

Only

نَحۡنُ

nahnu

مُصۡلِحُونَ

mus'lihuna

(are) reformers

١١

2:12

أَلَآ

ala

Beware

إِنَّهُمۡ

innahum

indeed they

هُمُ

humu

themselves

ٱلۡمُفۡسِدُونَ

al-muf'siduna

(are) the ones who spread corruption

وَلَٰكِن

walakin

[and] but

لَّا

not

يَشۡعُرُونَ

yash'uruna

they realize (it)

١٢

2:13

وَإِذَا

wa-idha

And when

قِيلَ

qila

it is said

لَهُمۡ

lahum

to them

ءَامِنُواْ

aminu

Believe

كَمَآ

kama

ءَامَنَ

amana

believed

ٱلنَّاسُ

al-nasu

the people

قَالُوٓاْ

qalu

they say

أَنُؤۡمِنُ

anu'minu

Should we believe

كَمَآ

kama

ءَامَنَ

amana

believed

ٱلسُّفَهَآءُۗ

al-sufahau

the fools

أَلَآ

ala

Beware

إِنَّهُمۡ

innahum

certainly they

هُمُ

humu

themselves

ٱلسُّفَهَآءُ

al-sufahau

(are) the fools

وَلَٰكِن

walakin

[and] but

لَّا

not

يَعۡلَمُونَ

ya'lamuna

they know

١٣

2:14

وَإِذَا

wa-idha

And when

لَقُواْ

laqu

they meet

ٱلَّذِينَ

alladhina

those who

ءَامَنُواْ

amanu

believe[d]

قَالُوٓاْ

qalu

they say

ءَامَنَّا

amanna

We believe[d]

وَإِذَا

wa-idha

But when

خَلَوۡاْ

khalaw

they are alone

إِلَىٰ

ila

with

شَيَٰطِينِهِمۡ

shayatinihim

their evil ones

قَالُوٓاْ

qalu

they say

إِنَّا

inna

Indeed we

مَعَكُمۡ

ma'akum

(are) with you

إِنَّمَا

innama

only

نَحۡنُ

nahnu

مُسۡتَهۡزِءُونَ

mus'tahziuna

(are) mockers

١٤

2:15

ٱللَّهُ

al-lahu

Allah

يَسۡتَهۡزِئُ

yastahzi-u

mocks

بِهِمۡ

bihim

at them

وَيَمُدُّهُمۡ

wayamudduhum

and prolongs them

فِي

طُغۡيَٰنِهِمۡ

tugh'yanihim

their transgression

يَعۡمَهُونَ

ya'mahuna

they wander blindly

١٥

2:16

أُوْلَٰٓئِكَ

ulaika

Those

ٱلَّذِينَ

alladhina

(are) the ones who

ٱشۡتَرَوُاْ

ish'tarawu

bought

ٱلضَّلَٰلَةَ

al-dalalata

[the] astraying

بِٱلۡهُدَىٰ

bil-huda

for [the] guidance

فَمَا

fama

So not

رَبِحَت

rabihat

profited

تِّجَٰرَتُهُمۡ

tijaratuhum

their commerce

وَمَا

wama

and not

كَانُواْ

kanu

were they

مُهۡتَدِينَ

muh'tadina

guided-ones

2:17

مَثَلُهُمۡ

mathaluhum

Their example

كَمَثَلِ

kamathali

(is) like (the) example

ٱلَّذِي

alladhi

(of) the one who

ٱسۡتَوۡقَدَ

is'tawqada

kindled

نَارٗا

naran

a fire

فَلَمَّآ

falamma

then when

أَضَآءَتۡ

adaat

it illuminated

مَا

what

حَوۡلَهُۥ

hawlahu

(was) around him

ذَهَبَ

dhahaba

took away

ٱللَّهُ

al-lahu

Allah

بِنُورِهِمۡ

binurihim

their light

وَتَرَكَهُمۡ

watarakahum

and left them

فِي

ظُلُمَٰتٖ

zulumatin

darkness[es]

لَّا

(so) not

يُبۡصِرُونَ

yub'siruna

(do) they see

١٧

2:18

صُمُّۢ

summun

Deaf

بُكۡمٌ

buk'mun

dumb

عُمۡيٞ

um'yun

blind

فَهُمۡ

fahum

so they

لَا

not

يَرۡجِعُونَ

yarji'una

[they] will not return

١٨

2:19

أَوۡ

كَصَيِّبٖ

kasayyibin

like a rainstorm

مِّنَ

mina

from

ٱلسَّمَآءِ

al-samai

the sky

فِيهِ

fihi

in it (are)

ظُلُمَٰتٞ

zulumatun

darkness[es]

وَرَعۡدٞ

wara'dun

and thunder

وَبَرۡقٞ

wabarqun

and lightning

يَجۡعَلُونَ

yaj'aluna

They put

أَصَٰبِعَهُمۡ

asabi'ahum

their fingers

فِيٓ

ءَاذَانِهِم

adhanihim

their ears

مِّنَ

mina

from

ٱلصَّوَٰعِقِ

al-sawa'iqi

the thunderclaps

حَذَرَ

hadhara

(in) fear (of)

ٱلۡمَوۡتِۚ

al-mawti

[the] death

وَٱللَّهُ

wal-lahu

And Allah

مُحِيطُۢ

muhitun

(is) [the One Who] encompasses

بِٱلۡكَٰفِرِينَ

bil-kafirina

the disbelievers

١٩

2:20

يَكَادُ

yakadu

Almost

ٱلۡبَرۡقُ

al-barqu

the lightning

يَخۡطَفُ

yakhtafu

snatches away

أَبۡصَٰرَهُمۡۖ

absarahum

their sight

كُلَّمَآ

kullama

Whenever

أَضَآءَ

adaa

it flashes

لَهُم

lahum

for them

مَّشَوۡاْ

mashaw

they walk

فِيهِ

fihi

in it

وَإِذَآ

wa-idha

and when

أَظۡلَمَ

azlama

it darkens

عَلَيۡهِمۡ

alayhim

on them

قَامُواْۚ

qamu

they stand (still)

وَلَوۡ

walaw

And if

شَآءَ

shaa

had willed

ٱللَّهُ

al-lahu

Allah

لَذَهَبَ

ladhahaba

He would certainly have taken away

بِسَمۡعِهِمۡ

bisam'ihim

their hearing

وَأَبۡصَٰرِهِمۡۚ

wa-absarihim

and their sight

إِنَّ

inna

Indeed

ٱللَّهَ

al-laha

Allah

عَلَىٰ

ala

(is) on

كُلِّ

kulli

every

شَيۡءٖ

shayin

thing

قَدِيرٞ

qadirun

All-Powerful

٢٠

2:21

يَٰٓأَيُّهَا

yaayyuha

ٱلنَّاسُ

al-nasu

mankind

ٱعۡبُدُواْ

u'budu

worship

رَبَّكُمُ

rabbakumu

your Lord

ٱلَّذِي

alladhi

the One Who

خَلَقَكُمۡ

khalaqakum

created you

وَٱلَّذِينَ

wa-alladhina

and those

مِن

min

from

قَبۡلِكُمۡ

qablikum

before you

لَعَلَّكُمۡ

la'allakum

so that you may

تَتَّقُونَ

tattaquna

become righteous

٢١

2:22

ٱلَّذِي

alladhi

The One Who

جَعَلَ

ja'ala

made

لَكُمُ

lakumu

for you

ٱلۡأَرۡضَ

al-arda

the earth

فِرَٰشٗا

firashan

a resting place

وَٱلسَّمَآءَ

wal-samaa

and the sky

بِنَآءٗ

binaan

a canopy

وَأَنزَلَ

wa-anzala

and sent down

مِنَ

mina

from

ٱلسَّمَآءِ

al-samai

the sky

مَآءٗ

maan

water

فَأَخۡرَجَ

fa-akhraja

then brought forth

بِهِۦ

bihi

therewith

مِنَ

mina

[of]

ٱلثَّمَرَٰتِ

al-thamarati

the fruits

رِزۡقٗا

riz'qan

(as) provision

لَّكُمۡۖ

lakum

for you

فَلَا

fala

So (do) not

تَجۡعَلُواْ

taj'alu

set up

لِلَّهِ

lillahi

to Allah

أَندَادٗا

andadan

rivals

وَأَنتُمۡ

wa-antum

while you

تَعۡلَمُونَ

ta'lamuna

[you] know

٢٢

2:23

وَإِن

wa-in

And if

كُنتُمۡ

kuntum

you are

فِي

رَيۡبٖ

raybin

doubt

مِّمَّا

mimma

about what

نَزَّلۡنَا

nazzalna

We have revealed

عَلَىٰ

ala

عَبۡدِنَا

abdina

Our slave

فَأۡتُواْ

fatu

then produce

بِسُورَةٖ

bisuratin

a chapter

مِّن

min

[of]

مِّثۡلِهِۦ

mith'lihi

like it

وَٱدۡعُواْ

wa-id'u

and call

شُهَدَآءَكُم

shuhadaakum

your witnesses

مِّن

min

from

دُونِ

duni

other than

ٱللَّهِ

al-lahi

Allah

إِن

كُنتُمۡ

kuntum

you are

صَٰدِقِينَ

sadiqina

truthful

٢٣

2:24

فَإِن

fa-in

But if

لَّمۡ

lam

not

تَفۡعَلُواْ

taf 'alu

you do

وَلَن

walan

and never

تَفۡعَلُواْ

taf 'alu

will you do

فَٱتَّقُواْ

fa-ittaqu

then fear

ٱلنَّارَ

al-nara

the Fire

ٱلَّتِي

allati

whose

وَقُودُهَا

waquduha

[its] fuel

ٱلنَّاسُ

al-nasu

(is) [the] men

وَٱلۡحِجَارَةُۖ

wal-hijaratu

and [the] stones

أُعِدَّتۡ

u'iddat

prepared

لِلۡكَٰفِرِينَ

lil'kafirina

for the disbelievers

٢٤

2:25

وَبَشِّرِ

wabashiri

And give good news

ٱلَّذِينَ

alladhina

(to) those who

ءَامَنُواْ

amanu

believe

وَعَمِلُواْ

wa'amilu

and do

ٱلصَّٰلِحَٰتِ

al-salihati

[the] righteous deeds

أَنَّ

anna

that

لَهُمۡ

lahum

for them

جَنَّٰتٖ

jannatin

(will be) Gardens

تَجۡرِي

tajri

flow

مِن

min

[from]

تَحۡتِهَا

tahtiha

under them

ٱلۡأَنۡهَٰرُۖ

al-anharu

the rivers

كُلَّمَا

kullama

Every time

رُزِقُواْ

ruziqu

they are provided

مِنۡهَا

min'ha

therefrom

مِن

min

ثَمَرَةٖ

thamaratin

fruit

رِّزۡقٗا

riz'qan

(as) provision

قَالُواْ

qalu

they (will) say

هَٰذَا

hadha

This (is)

ٱلَّذِي

alladhi

the one which

رُزِقۡنَا

ruziq'na

we were provided

مِن

min

from

قَبۡلُۖ

qablu

before

وَأُتُواْ

wa-utu

And they will be given

بِهِۦ

bihi

therefrom

مُتَشَٰبِهٗاۖ

mutashabihan

(things) in resemblance

وَلَهُمۡ

walahum

And for them

فِيهَآ

fiha

therein

أَزۡوَٰجٞ

azwajun

spouses

مُّطَهَّرَةٞۖ

mutahharatun

purified

وَهُمۡ

wahum

and they

فِيهَا

fiha

therein

خَٰلِدُونَ

khaliduna

(will) abide forever

٢٥
