وَمَآ
wama
And what
أَصَٰبَكُمۡ
asabakum
struck you
يَوۡمَ
yawma
(on the) day
ٱلۡتَقَى
al-taqa
(when) met
ٱلۡجَمۡعَانِ
al-jam'ani
the two hosts
فَبِإِذۡنِ
fabi-idh'ni
(was) by (the) permission
ٱللَّهِ
al-lahi
(of) Allah
وَلِيَعۡلَمَ
waliya'lama
and that He (might) make evident
ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِينَ
al-mu'minina
the believers
١٦٦
3:167
وَلِيَعۡلَمَ
waliya'lama
And that He (might) make evident
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhina
those who
نَافَقُواْۚ
nafaqu
(are) hypocrites
وَقِيلَ
waqila
And it was said
لَهُمۡ
lahum
to them
تَعَالَوۡاْ
ta'alaw
Come
قَٰتِلُواْ
qatilu
fight
فِي
fi
in
سَبِيلِ
sabili
(the) way
ٱللَّهِ
al-lahi
(of) Allah
أَوِ
awi
or
ٱدۡفَعُواْۖ
id'fa'u
defend
قَالُواْ
qalu
They said
لَوۡ
law
If
نَعۡلَمُ
na'lamu
we knew
قِتَالٗا
qitalan
fighting
لَّٱتَّبَعۡنَٰكُمۡۗ
la-ittaba'nakum
certainly we (would have) followed you
هُمۡ
hum
They
لِلۡكُفۡرِ
lil'kuf'ri
to disbelief
يَوۡمَئِذٍ
yawma-idhin
that day
أَقۡرَبُ
aqrabu
(were) nearer
مِنۡهُمۡ
min'hum
than [them]
لِلۡإِيمَٰنِۚ
lil'imani
to the faith
يَقُولُونَ
yaquluna
saying
بِأَفۡوَٰهِهِم
bi-afwahihim
with their mouths
مَّا
ma
what
لَيۡسَ
laysa
was not
فِي
fi
in
قُلُوبِهِمۡۚ
qulubihim
their hearts
وَٱللَّهُ
wal-lahu
And Allah
أَعۡلَمُ
a'lamu
(is) Most Knowing
بِمَا
bima
of what
يَكۡتُمُونَ
yaktumuna
they conceal
١٦٧
3:168
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhina
Those who
قَالُواْ
qalu
said
لِإِخۡوَٰنِهِمۡ
li-ikh'wanihim
about their brothers
وَقَعَدُواْ
waqa'adu
while they sat
لَوۡ
law
If
أَطَاعُونَا
ata'una
they (had) obeyed us
مَا
ma
not
قُتِلُواْۗ
qutilu
they would have been killed
قُلۡ
qul
Say
فَٱدۡرَءُواْ
fa-id'rau
Then avert
عَنۡ
an
from
أَنفُسِكُمُ
anfusikumu
yourselves
ٱلۡمَوۡتَ
al-mawta
[the] death
إِن
in
if
كُنتُمۡ
kuntum
you are
صَٰدِقِينَ
sadiqina
truthful
١٦٨
3:169
وَلَا
wala
And (do) not
تَحۡسَبَنَّ
tahsabanna
think
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhina
(of) those who
قُتِلُواْ
qutilu
are killed
فِي
fi
in
سَبِيلِ
sabili
(the) way
ٱللَّهِ
al-lahi
(of) Allah
أَمۡوَٰتَۢاۚ
amwatan
(as) dead
بَلۡ
bal
Nay
أَحۡيَآءٌ
ahyaon
They are alive
عِندَ
inda
near
رَبِّهِمۡ
rabbihim
their Lord
يُرۡزَقُونَ
yur'zaquna
they are given provision
١٦٩
3:170
فَرِحِينَ
farihina
Rejoicing
بِمَآ
bima
in what
ءَاتَىٰهُمُ
atahumu
bestowed them
ٱللَّهُ
al-lahu
Allah
مِن
min
of
فَضۡلِهِۦ
fadlihi
His Bounty
وَيَسۡتَبۡشِرُونَ
wayastabshiruna
and they receive good tidings
بِٱلَّذِينَ
bi-alladhina
about those who
لَمۡ
lam
(have) not
يَلۡحَقُواْ
yalhaqu
yet joined
بِهِم
bihim
[with] them
مِّنۡ
min
[from]
خَلۡفِهِمۡ
khalfihim
(but are) left behind
أَلَّا
alla
that (there will be) no
خَوۡفٌ
khawfun
fear
عَلَيۡهِمۡ
alayhim
on them
وَلَا
wala
and not
هُمۡ
hum
they
يَحۡزَنُونَ
yahzanuna
will grieve
١٧٠
3:171
۞يَسۡتَبۡشِرُونَ
yastabshiruna
They receive good tidings
بِنِعۡمَةٖ
bini'matin
of Favor
مِّنَ
mina
from
ٱللَّهِ
al-lahi
Allah
وَفَضۡلٖ
wafadlin
and Bounty
وَأَنَّ
wa-anna
and that
ٱللَّهَ
al-laha
Allah
لَا
la
(does) not
يُضِيعُ
yudi'u
let go waste
أَجۡرَ
ajra
(the) reward
ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِينَ
al-mu'minina
(of) the believers
١٧١
3:172
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhina
Those who
ٱسۡتَجَابُواْ
is'tajabu
responded
لِلَّهِ
lillahi
to Allah
وَٱلرَّسُولِ
wal-rasuli
and the Messenger
مِنۢ
min
from
بَعۡدِ
ba'di
after
مَآ
ma
what
أَصَابَهُمُ
asabahumu
befell them
ٱلۡقَرۡحُۚ
al-qarhu
the injury
لِلَّذِينَ
lilladhina
for those who
أَحۡسَنُواْ
ahsanu
did good
مِنۡهُمۡ
min'hum
among them
وَٱتَّقَوۡاْ
wa-ittaqaw
and feared Allah
أَجۡرٌ
ajrun
(is) a reward
عَظِيمٌ
azimun
great
١٧٢
3:173
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhina
Those who
قَالَ
qala
said
لَهُمُ
lahumu
to them
ٱلنَّاسُ
al-nasu
[the people]
إِنَّ
inna
Indeed
ٱلنَّاسَ
al-nasa
the people
قَدۡ
qad
(have) certainly
جَمَعُواْ
jama'u
gathered
لَكُمۡ
lakum
against you
فَٱخۡشَوۡهُمۡ
fa-ikh'shawhum
so fear them
فَزَادَهُمۡ
fazadahum
But it increased them
إِيمَٰنٗا
imanan
(in) faith
وَقَالُواْ
waqalu
and they said
حَسۡبُنَا
hasbuna
Sufficient for us
ٱللَّهُ
al-lahu
(is) Allah
وَنِعۡمَ
wani'ma
and (He is the) best
ٱلۡوَكِيلُ
al-wakilu
[the] Disposer of affairs
١٧٣
