2:30
وَإِذۡ
Wa-ʹiẓ
And when
قَالَ
q̣aala
said
رَبُّكَ
Rabbuka
your Lord
لِلۡمَلَٰٓئِكَةِ
lil-Malaaaʹikati
to the angels
إِنِّي
ʹInnee
Indeed I (am)
جَاعِلٞ
jaaʻiluñ
going to place
فِي
fil
in
ٱلۡأَرۡضِ
ʹarḍi
the earth
خَلِيفَةٗۖ
Khaleefah˹.
a vicegerent
قَالُوٓاْ
Q̣aalooo
they said
أَتَجۡعَلُ
ʹatajʻalu
Will You place
فِيهَا
feehaa
in it
مَن
mañy
(one) who
يُفۡسِدُ
yufsidu
will spread corruption
فِيهَا
feehaa
in it
وَيَسۡفِكُ
wa-yasfikud
and will shed
ٱلدِّمَآءَ
dimaaaʹ?
[the] blood[s]
وَنَحۡنُ
wa-naḥnu
while we
نُسَبِّحُ
nusabbiḥu
[we] glorify (You)
بِحَمۡدِكَ
bi-Ḥamdika
with Your praises
وَنُقَدِّسُ
wa-nuq̣addisu
and we sanctify
لَكَۖ
lak.
[to] You
قَالَ
Q̣aala
He said
إِنِّيٓ
˹ʹInneee
Indeed I
أَعۡلَمُ
ʹaʻlamu
[I] know
مَا
maa
what
لَا
laa-
not
تَعۡلَمُونَ
taʻlamoon.˺
you know
٣٠
2:31
وَعَلَّمَ
Wa-ʻallama
And He taught
ءَادَمَ
ʹAadamal
Adam
ٱلۡأَسۡمَآءَ
ʹasmaaaʹa
the names
كُلَّهَا
kullahaa
all of them
ثُمَّ
s̤umma
Then
عَرَضَهُمۡ
ʻaraḍahum
He displayed them
عَلَى
ʻalal
to
ٱلۡمَلَٰٓئِكَةِ
malaaaʹikati
the angels
فَقَالَ
faq̣aala
then He said
أَنۢبِـُٔونِي
ʹambiʹoonee
Inform Me
بِأَسۡمَآءِ
biʹasmaaaʹi
of (the) names
هَٰٓؤُلَآءِ
haaaʹulaaaʹi
(of) these
إِن
ʹiñ
if
كُنتُمۡ
kuñtum
you are
صَٰدِقِينَ
ṣaadiq̣een.
truthful
٣١
2:32
قَالُواْ
Q̣aaloo
They said
سُبۡحَٰنَكَ
˹Subḥaanaka
Glory be to You
لَا
laa
No
عِلۡمَ
ʻilma
knowledge
لَنَآ
lanaaa
(is) for us
إِلَّا
ʹillaa
except
مَا
maa-
what
عَلَّمۡتَنَآۖ
ʻallamtanaa:
You have taught us
إِنَّكَ
ʹInnaka
Indeed You
أَنتَ
ʹañtal
You
ٱلۡعَلِيمُ
ʻAleemul
(are) the All-Knowing
ٱلۡحَكِيمُ
Ḥakeem.˺
the All-Wise
٣٢
2:33
قَالَ
Q̣aala
He said
يَٰٓـَٔادَمُ
˹YaaaʹAadamu
O Adam
أَنۢبِئۡهُم
ʹambiʹhum̃
Inform them
بِأَسۡمَآئِهِمۡۖ
biʹasmaaaʹihim.˺
of their names
فَلَمَّآ
Falammaaa
And when
أَنۢبَأَهُم
ʹambaʹahum̃
he had informed them
بِأَسۡمَآئِهِمۡ
biʹasmaaaʹihim
of their names
قَالَ
q̣aala
He said
أَلَمۡ
ʹalam
Did not
أَقُل
ʹaq̣ul
I say
لَّكُمۡ
lakum
to you
إِنِّيٓ
ʹInneee
Indeed I
أَعۡلَمُ
ʹaʻlamu
[I] know
غَيۡبَ
g̣aybas
(the) unseen
ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ
samaawaati
(of) the heavens
وَٱلۡأَرۡضِ
wal-ʹarḍi
and the earth
وَأَعۡلَمُ
wa-ʹaʻlamu
and I know
مَا
maa
what
تُبۡدُونَ
tubdoona
you reveal
وَمَا
wa-maa
and what
كُنتُمۡ
kuñtum
you [were]
تَكۡتُمُونَ
taktumoon.
conceal
٣٣
2:34
وَإِذۡ
Wa-ʹiẓ
And when
قُلۡنَا
q̣ulnaa
We said
لِلۡمَلَٰٓئِكَةِ
lilmalaaaʹikatis
to the angels
ٱسۡجُدُواْ
judoo
Prostrate
لِأٓدَمَ
liʹAadama
to Adam
فَسَجَدُوٓاْ
fasajadooo
[so] they prostrated
إِلَّآ
ʹillaaa
except
إِبۡلِيسَ
ʹIblees:
Iblis
أَبَىٰ
ʹabaa
He refused
وَٱسۡتَكۡبَرَ
wastakbara
and was arrogant
وَكَانَ
wa-kaana
and became
مِنَ
minal
of
ٱلۡكَٰفِرِينَ
Kaafireen.
the disbelievers
٣٤
2:35
وَقُلۡنَا
Wa-q̣ulnaa
And We said
يَٰٓـَٔادَمُ
yaaaʹAadamus
O Adam
ٱسۡكُنۡ
kun
Dwell
أَنتَ
ʹañta
you
وَزَوۡجُكَ
wa-zawjukal
and your spouse
ٱلۡجَنَّةَ
jannata
(in) Paradise
وَكُلَا
wa-kulaa
and [you both] eat
مِنۡهَا
Minhaa
from it
رَغَدًا
rag̣adan
freely
حَيۡثُ
ḥays̤u
(from) wherever
شِئۡتُمَا
shiʹtumaa;
you [both] wish
وَلَا
wa-laa
But do not
تَقۡرَبَا
taq̣rabaa
[you two] approach
هَٰذِهِ
haaẓihish
this
ٱلشَّجَرَةَ
shajarata
[the] tree
فَتَكُونَا
fatakoonaa
lest you [both] be
مِنَ
minaz̤̣
of
ٱلظَّٰلِمِينَ
z̤̣aalimeen.
the wrongdoers
٣٥
2:36
فَأَزَلَّهُمَا
Faʹazallahumash
Then made [both of] them slip
ٱلشَّيۡطَٰنُ
Shaytaanu
the Shaitaan
عَنۡهَا
ʻanhaa
from it
فَأَخۡرَجَهُمَا
faʹakhrajahumaa
and he got [both of] them out
مِمَّا
mimmaa
from what
كَانَا
kaanaa
they [both] were
فِيهِۖ
feeh.
in [it]
وَقُلۡنَا
Wa-q̣ulnah
And We said
ٱهۡبِطُواْ
biṭoo
Go down (all of you)
بَعۡضُكُمۡ
baʻḍukum
some of you
لِبَعۡضٍ
libaʻḍin
to others
عَدُوّٞۖ
ʻaduww.
(as) enemy
وَلَكُمۡ
Wa-lakum
and for you
فِي
fil
in
ٱلۡأَرۡضِ
ʹarḍi
the earth
مُسۡتَقَرّٞ
mustaq̣arruñw
(is) a dwelling place
وَمَتَٰعٌ
wa-mataaʻun
and a provision
إِلَىٰ
ʹilaa
for
حِينٖ
ḥeen.
a period
٣٦
2:37
فَتَلَقَّىٰٓ
Fatalaq̣q̣aaa
Then received
ءَادَمُ
ʹAadamu
Adam
مِن
mir
from
رَّبِّهِۦ
Rabbihee
his Lord
كَلِمَٰتٖ
Kalimaatiñ
words
فَتَابَ
fataaba
So (his Lord) turned
عَلَيۡهِۚ
ʻalayh:
towards him
إِنَّهُۥ
ʹinnahoo
Indeed He
هُوَ
Huwat
He
ٱلتَّوَّابُ
Tawwaabur
(is) the Oft-returning (to mercy)
ٱلرَّحِيمُ
Raḥeem.
the Most Merciful
