68:17إِنَّاʹInnaaIndeed Weبَلَوۡنَٰهُمۡbalawnaahumhave tried themكَمَاkamaaasبَلَوۡنَآbalawnaaaWe triedأَصۡحَٰبَʹAṣḥaabal(the) companionsٱلۡجَنَّةِJannah,(of) the gardenإِذۡʹiẓwhenأَقۡسَمُواْʹaq̣samoothey sworeلَيَصۡرِمُنَّهَاlayaṣrimunnahaato pluck its fruitمُصۡبِحِينَmuṣbiḥeen,(in the) morning١٧
68:19فَطَافَFaṭaafaSo there cameعَلَيۡهَاʻalayhaaupon itطَآئِفٞṭaaaʹifuma visitationمِّنmirfromرَّبِّكَRabbikayour Lordوَهُمۡwa-humwhile theyنَآئِمُونَnaaaʹimoon.were asleep١٩
68:22أَنِʹAnig̣ThatٱغۡدُواْdooGo earlyعَلَىٰʻalaatoحَرۡثِكُمۡḥars̤ikumyour cropإِنʹiñifكُنتُمۡkuñtumyou wouldصَٰرِمِينَṣaarimeen.pluck (the) fruit٢٢
68:23فَٱنطَلَقُواْFañṭalaq̣ooSo they wentوَهُمۡwa-humwhile theyيَتَخَٰفَتُونَyatakhaafatoon―lowered (their) voices٢٣
68:24أَنʹAlThatلَّاlaaNotيَدۡخُلَنَّهَاyadkhulannahalwill enter itٱلۡيَوۡمَyawmatodayعَلَيۡكُمʻalaykumupon youمِّسۡكِينٞmiskeen.any poor person٢٤
68:25وَغَدَوۡاْWa-g̣adawAnd they went earlyعَلَىٰʻalaawithحَرۡدٖḥardiñdeterminationقَٰدِرِينَq̣aadireen.able٢٥
68:26فَلَمَّاFalammaaBut whenرَأَوۡهَاraʹawhaathey saw itقَالُوٓاْq̣aalooothey saidإِنَّاʹinnaaIndeed weلَضَآلُّونَlaḍaaalloon:(are) surely lost٢٦
68:28قَالَQ̣aalaSaidأَوۡسَطُهُمۡʹawsaṭuhum(the) most moderate of themأَلَمۡʹalamDid notأَقُلʹaq̣ulI tellلَّكُمۡlakumyouلَوۡلَاlaw-laaWhy notتُسَبِّحُونَtusabbiḥoon?you glorify (Allah)?٢٨
68:29قَالُواْQ̣aalooThey saidسُبۡحَٰنَSubḥaanaGlory beرَبِّنَآRabbinaaa(to) our LordإِنَّاʹinnaaIndeed weكُنَّاkunnaa[we] wereظَٰلِمِينَz̤̣aalimeen!wrongdoers٢٩
68:30فَأَقۡبَلَFaʹaq̣balaThen approachedبَعۡضُهُمۡbaʻḍuhumsome of themعَلَىٰʻalaatoبَعۡضٖbaʻḍiñyothersيَتَلَٰوَمُونَyatalaawamoon.blaming each other٣٠
68:31قَالُواْQ̣aalooThey saidيَٰوَيۡلَنَآyaa-waylanaaaO woe to usإِنَّاʹinnaaIndeed weكُنَّاkunnaa[we] wereطَٰغِينَṭaag̣een!transgressors٣١
68:32عَسَىٰʻAsaaPerhapsرَبُّنَآRabbunaaaour Lordأَنʹañy[that]يُبۡدِلَنَاyubdilanaawill substitute for usخَيۡرٗاkhayrama betterمِّنۡهَآminhaaathan itإِنَّآʹinnaaaIndeed weإِلَىٰʹilaatoرَبِّنَاRabbinaaour Lordرَٰغِبُونَraag̣iboon!turn devoutly٣٢
68:33كَذَٰلِكَKaẓaalikalSuchٱلۡعَذَابُۖʻAẓaab;(is) the punishmentوَلَعَذَابُwa-laʻAẓaabulAnd surely the punishmentٱلۡأٓخِرَةِʹAakhirati(of) the Hereafterأَكۡبَرُۚʹakbar.(is) greaterلَوۡLawifكَانُواْkaanootheyيَعۡلَمُونَyaʻlamoon!know٣٣
68:34إِنَّʹInnaIndeedلِلۡمُتَّقِينَlil-Muttaq̣eenafor the righteousعِندَʻiñdawithرَبِّهِمۡRabbihimtheir LordجَنَّٰتِJannatin(are) GardensٱلنَّعِيمِNaʻeem.(of) Delight٣٤
68:35أَفَنَجۡعَلُʹAfanajʻalulThen will We treatٱلۡمُسۡلِمِينَMuslimeenathe Muslimsكَٱلۡمُجۡرِمِينَkalmujrimeen?like the criminals٣٥
68:37أَمۡʹAmOrلَكُمۡlakum(is) for youكِتَٰبٞKitaabuña bookفِيهِfeehiwhereinتَدۡرُسُونَtadrusoon―you learn٣٧
68:38إِنَّʹInnaIndeedلَكُمۡlakumfor youفِيهِfeehiin itلَمَاlamaawhatتَخَيَّرُونَtakhayyaroon?you choose٣٨
68:39أَمۡʹAmOrلَكُمۡlakumfor youأَيۡمَٰنٌʹAymaanunoathsعَلَيۡنَاʻalaynaafrom usبَٰلِغَةٌbaalig̣atunreachingإِلَىٰʹilaatoيَوۡمِYawmil(the) DayٱلۡقِيَٰمَةِQ̣iyaamati(of) the Resurrectionإِنَّʹinnaindeedلَكُمۡlakumfor youلَمَاlamaa(is) whatتَحۡكُمُونَtaḥkumoon?you judge٣٩
68:40سَلۡهُمۡSalhumAsk themأَيُّهُمʹayyuhum̃which of themبِذَٰلِكَbiẓaalikafor thatزَعِيمٌzaʻeem!(is) responsible٤٠
68:41أَمۡʹAmOrلَهُمۡlahum(are) for themشُرَكَآءُshurakaaaʹupartnersفَلۡيَأۡتُواْfal-yaʹtooThen let them bringبِشُرَكَآئِهِمۡbishurakaaaʹihimtheir partnersإِنʹiñifكَانُواْkaanoothey areصَٰدِقِينَṣaadiq̣een!truthful٤١
68:42يَوۡمَYawma(The) Dayيُكۡشَفُyukshafuwill be uncoveredعَنʻañfromسَاقٖsaaq̣iñwthe shinوَيُدۡعَوۡنَwayudʻawnaand they will be calledإِلَىʹilastoٱلسُّجُودِsujoodiprostrateفَلَاfalaabut notيَسۡتَطِيعُونَyastaṭeeʻoon,―they will be able٤٢
