وَٱضۡرِبۡ
wa-id'rib
And set forth
لَهُم
lahum
to them
مَّثَلًا
mathalan

أَصۡحَٰبَ
ashaba
(of the) companions
ٱلۡقَرۡيَةِ
al-qaryati
(of) the city
إِذۡ
idh
when
جَآءَهَا
jaaha
came to it
ٱلۡمُرۡسَلُونَ
al-mur'saluna
the Messengers
١٣
36:14
إِذۡ
idh
When
أَرۡسَلۡنَآ
arsalna
We sent
إِلَيۡهِمُ
ilayhimu
to them
ٱثۡنَيۡنِ
ith'nayni
two (Messengers)
فَكَذَّبُوهُمَا
fakadhabuhuma
but they denied both of them
فَعَزَّزۡنَا
fa'azzazna
so We strengthened them
بِثَالِثٖ
bithalithin
with a third
فَقَالُوٓاْ
faqalu
and they said
إِنَّآ
inna
Indeed We
إِلَيۡكُم
ilaykum
to you
مُّرۡسَلُونَ
mur'saluna
(are) Messengers
١٤
36:15
قَالُواْ
qalu
They said
مَآ
ma
Not
أَنتُمۡ
antum
you
إِلَّا
illa
(are) but
بَشَرٞ
basharun
human beings
مِّثۡلُنَا
mith'luna
like us
وَمَآ
wama
and not
أَنزَلَ
anzala
has revealed
ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنُ
al-rahmanu
the Most Gracious
مِن
min
any
شَيۡءٍ
shayin
thing
إِنۡ
in
Not
أَنتُمۡ
antum
you
إِلَّا
illa
(are) but
تَكۡذِبُونَ
takdhibuna
lying
١٥
36:16
قَالُواْ
qalu
They said
رَبُّنَا
rabbuna
Our Lord
يَعۡلَمُ
ya'lamu
knows
إِنَّآ
inna
that we
إِلَيۡكُمۡ
ilaykum
to you
لَمُرۡسَلُونَ
lamur'saluna
(are) surely Messengers
١٦
36:17
وَمَا
wama
And not
عَلَيۡنَآ
alayna
(is) on us
إِلَّا
illa
except
ٱلۡبَلَٰغُ
al-balaghu
the conveyance
ٱلۡمُبِينُ
al-mubinu
clear
١٧
36:18
قَالُوٓاْ
qalu
They said
إِنَّا
inna
Indeed we
تَطَيَّرۡنَا
tatayyarna
[we] see an evil omen
بِكُمۡۖ
bikum
from you
لَئِن
la-in
If
لَّمۡ
lam
not
تَنتَهُواْ
tantahu
you desist
لَنَرۡجُمَنَّكُمۡ
lanarjumannakum
surely we will stone you
وَلَيَمَسَّنَّكُم
walayamassannakum
and surely will touch you
مِّنَّا
minna
from us
عَذَابٌ
adhabun
a punishment
أَلِيمٞ
alimun
painful
١٨
36:19
قَالُواْ
qalu
They said
طَٰٓئِرُكُم
tairukum
Your evil omen
مَّعَكُمۡ
ma'akum
(be) with you
أَئِن
a-in
Is it because
ذُكِّرۡتُمۚ
dhukkir'tum
you are admonished
بَلۡ
bal
Nay
أَنتُمۡ
antum
you
قَوۡمٞ
qawmun
(are) a people
مُّسۡرِفُونَ
mus'rifuna
transgressing
١٩
36:20
وَجَآءَ
wajaa
And came
مِنۡ
min
from
أَقۡصَا
aqsa
(the) farthest end
ٱلۡمَدِينَةِ
al-madinati
(of) the city
رَجُلٞ
rajulun
a man
يَسۡعَىٰ
yas'a
running
قَالَ
qala
He said
يَٰقَوۡمِ
yaqawmi
O my People
ٱتَّبِعُواْ
ittabi'u
Follow
ٱلۡمُرۡسَلِينَ
al-mur'salina
the Messengers
٢٠
36:21
ٱتَّبِعُواْ
ittabi'u
Follow
مَن
man
(those) who
لَّا
la
(do) not
يَسۡـَٔلُكُمۡ
yasalukum
ask (of) you
أَجۡرٗا
ajran
any payment
وَهُم
wahum
and they
مُّهۡتَدُونَ
muh'taduna
(are) rightly guided
٢١
36:22
وَمَا
wama
And what
لِيَ
liya
(is) for me
لَآ
la
(that) not
أَعۡبُدُ
a'budu
I worship
ٱلَّذِي
alladhi
the One Who
فَطَرَنِي
fatarani
created me
وَإِلَيۡهِ
wa-ilayhi
and to Whom
تُرۡجَعُونَ
tur'ja'una
you will be returned
٢٢
36:23
ءَأَتَّخِذُ
a-attakhidhu
Should I take
مِن
min
besides Him
دُونِهِۦٓ
dunihi
besides Him
ءَالِهَةً
alihatan
gods
إِن
in
If
يُرِدۡنِ
yurid'ni
intends for me
ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنُ
al-rahmanu
the Most Gracious
بِضُرّٖ
bidurrin
any harm
لَّا
la
not
تُغۡنِ
tugh'ni
will avail
عَنِّي
anni
[from] me
شَفَٰعَتُهُمۡ
shafa'atuhum
their intercession
شَيۡـٔٗا
shayan
(in) anything
وَلَا
wala
and not
يُنقِذُونِ
yunqidhuni
they (can) save me
٢٣
36:24
إِنِّيٓ
inni
Indeed I
إِذٗا
idhan
then
لَّفِي
lafi
surely would be in
ضَلَٰلٖ
dalalin
an error
مُّبِينٍ
mubinin
clear
٢٤
36:25
إِنِّيٓ
inni
Indeed I
ءَامَنتُ
amantu
[I] have believed
بِرَبِّكُمۡ
birabbikum
in your Lord
فَٱسۡمَعُونِ
fa-is'ma'uni
so listen to me
٢٥
36:26
قِيلَ
qila
It was said
ٱدۡخُلِ
ud'khuli
Enter
ٱلۡجَنَّةَۖ
al-janata
Paradise
قَالَ
qala
He said
يَٰلَيۡتَ
yalayta
I wish
قَوۡمِي
qawmi
my people
يَعۡلَمُونَ
ya'lamuna
knew
٢٦
36:27
بِمَا
bima
Of how
غَفَرَ
ghafara
has forgiven
لِي
li
me
رَبِّي
rabbi
my Lord
وَجَعَلَنِي
waja'alani
and placed me
مِنَ
mina
among
ٱلۡمُكۡرَمِينَ
al-muk'ramina
the honored ones
