وَلَمَّا
walamma
And when
جَآءَتۡ
jaat
came
رُسُلُنَآ
rusuluna
Our messengers
إِبۡرَٰهِيمَ
ib'rahima
(to) Ibrahim
بِٱلۡبُشۡرَىٰ
bil-bush'ra
with the glad tidings
قَالُوٓاْ
qalu
they said
إِنَّا
inna
Indeed we
مُهۡلِكُوٓاْ
muh'liku
(are) going to destroy
أَهۡلِ
ahli
(the) people
هَٰذِهِ
hadhihi
(of) this
ٱلۡقَرۡيَةِۖ
al-qaryati
town
إِنَّ
inna
Indeed
أَهۡلَهَا
ahlaha
its people
كَانُواْ
kanu
are
ظَٰلِمِينَ
zalimina
wrongdoers
٣١
29:32
قَالَ
qala
He said
إِنَّ
inna
Indeed
فِيهَا
fiha
in it
لُوطٗاۚ
lutan
(is) Lut
قَالُواْ
qalu
They said
نَحۡنُ
nahnu
We
أَعۡلَمُ
a'lamu
know better
بِمَن
biman
who
فِيهَاۖ
fiha
(is) in it
لَنُنَجِّيَنَّهُۥ
lanunajjiyannahu
We will surely save him
وَأَهۡلَهُۥٓ
wa-ahlahu
and his family
إِلَّا
illa
except
ٱمۡرَأَتَهُۥ
im'ra-atahu
his wife
كَانَتۡ
kanat
She
مِنَ
mina
(is) of
ٱلۡغَٰبِرِينَ
al-ghabirina
those who remain behind
٣٢
29:33
وَلَمَّآ
walamma
And when
أَن
an
[that]
جَآءَتۡ
jaat
came
رُسُلُنَا
rusuluna
Our messengers
لُوطٗا
lutan
(to) Lut
سِيٓءَ
sia
he was distressed
بِهِمۡ
bihim
for them
وَضَاقَ
wadaqa
and felt straitened
بِهِمۡ
bihim
for them
ذَرۡعٗاۖ
dhar'an
(and) uneasy
وَقَالُواْ
waqalu
And they said
لَا
la
(Do) not
تَخَفۡ
takhaf
fear
وَلَا
wala
and (do) not
تَحۡزَنۡ
tahzan
grieve
إِنَّا
inna
Indeed we
مُنَجُّوكَ
munajjuka
(will) save you
وَأَهۡلَكَ
wa-ahlaka
and your family
إِلَّا
illa
except
ٱمۡرَأَتَكَ
im'ra-ataka
your wife
كَانَتۡ
kanat
She
مِنَ
mina
(is) of
ٱلۡغَٰبِرِينَ
al-ghabirina
those who remain behind
٣٣
29:34
إِنَّا
inna
Indeed we
مُنزِلُونَ
munziluna
(will) bring down
عَلَىٰٓ
ala
on
أَهۡلِ
ahli
(the) people
هَٰذِهِ
hadhihi
(of) this
ٱلۡقَرۡيَةِ
al-qaryati
town
رِجۡزٗا
rij'zan
a punishment
مِّنَ
mina
from
ٱلسَّمَآءِ
al-samai
(the) sky
بِمَا
bima
because
كَانُواْ
kanu
they have been
يَفۡسُقُونَ
yafsuquna
defiantly disobedient
٣٤
29:35
وَلَقَد
walaqad
And verily
تَّرَكۡنَا
tarakna
We have left
مِنۡهَآ
min'ha
about it
ءَايَةَۢ
ayatan
a sign
بَيِّنَةٗ
bayyinatan
(as) evidence
لِّقَوۡمٖ
liqawmin
for a people
يَعۡقِلُونَ
ya'qiluna
who use reason
٣٥
29:36
وَإِلَىٰ
wa-ila
And to
مَدۡيَنَ
madyana
Madyan
أَخَاهُمۡ
akhahum
their brother
شُعَيۡبٗا
shu'ayban
Shuaib
فَقَالَ
faqala
And he said
يَٰقَوۡمِ
yaqawmi
O my people
ٱعۡبُدُواْ
u'budu
Worship
ٱللَّهَ
al-laha
Allah
وَٱرۡجُواْ
wa-ir'ju
and expect
ٱلۡيَوۡمَ
al-yawma
the Day
ٱلۡأٓخِرَ
al-akhira
the Last
وَلَا
wala
and (do) not
تَعۡثَوۡاْ
ta'thaw
commit evil
فِي
fi
in
ٱلۡأَرۡضِ
al-ardi
the earth
مُفۡسِدِينَ
muf'sidina
(as) corrupters
٣٦
29:37
فَكَذَّبُوهُ
fakadhabuhu
But they denied him
فَأَخَذَتۡهُمُ
fa-akhadhathumu
so seized them
ٱلرَّجۡفَةُ
al-rajfatu
the earthquake
فَأَصۡبَحُواْ
fa-asbahu
and they became
فِي
fi
in
دَارِهِمۡ
darihim
their home
جَٰثِمِينَ
jathimina
fallen prone
٣٧
29:38
وَعَادٗا
wa'adan
And Aad
وَثَمُودَاْ
wathamuda
and Thamud
وَقَد
waqad
and verily
تَّبَيَّنَ
tabayyana
(has) become clear
لَكُم
lakum
to you
مِّن
min
from
مَّسَٰكِنِهِمۡۖ
masakinihim
their dwellings
وَزَيَّنَ
wazayyana
And made fair-seeming
لَهُمُ
lahumu
to them
ٱلشَّيۡطَٰنُ
al-shaytanu
the Shaitaan
أَعۡمَٰلَهُمۡ
a'malahum
their deeds
فَصَدَّهُمۡ
fasaddahum
and averted them
عَنِ
ani
from
ٱلسَّبِيلِ
al-sabili
the Way
وَكَانُواْ
wakanu
though they were
مُسۡتَبۡصِرِينَ
mus'tabsirina
endowed with insight
٣٨
