لَنَا

for us
مَلِكٗا
malikan
a king
نُّقَٰتِلۡ
nuqatil
we may fight
فِي
fi
in
سَبِيلِ
sabili
(the) way
ٱللَّهِۖ
al-lahi
(of) Allah
قَالَ
qala
He said
هَلۡ
hal
Would
عَسَيۡتُمۡ
asaytum
you perhaps
إِن
in
if
كُتِبَ
kutiba
prescribed
عَلَيۡكُمُ
alaykumu
upon you
ٱلۡقِتَالُ
al-qitalu
[the] fighting
أَلَّا
alla
that not
تُقَٰتِلُواْۖ
tuqatilu
you fight
قَالُواْ
qalu
They said
وَمَا
wama
And what
لَنَآ
lana
for us
أَلَّا
alla
that not
نُقَٰتِلَ
nuqatila
we fight
فِي
fi
in
سَبِيلِ
sabili
(the) way
ٱللَّهِ
al-lahi
(of) Allah
وَقَدۡ
waqad
while surely
أُخۡرِجۡنَا
ukh'rij'na
we have been driven
مِن
min
from
دِيَٰرِنَا
diyarina
our homes
وَأَبۡنَآئِنَاۖ
wa-abnaina
and our children
فَلَمَّا
falamma
Yet when
كُتِبَ
kutiba
was prescribed
عَلَيۡهِمُ
alayhimu
upon them
ٱلۡقِتَالُ
al-qitalu
the fighting
تَوَلَّوۡاْ
tawallaw
they turned away
إِلَّا
illa
except
قَلِيلٗا
qalilan
a few
مِّنۡهُمۡۚ
min'hum
among them
وَٱللَّهُ
wal-lahu
And Allah
عَلِيمُۢ
alimun
(is) All-Knowing
بِٱلظَّٰلِمِينَ
bil-zalimina
of the wrongdoers
٢٤٦
2:247
وَقَالَ
waqala
And said
لَهُمۡ
lahum
to them
نَبِيُّهُمۡ
nabiyyuhum
their Prophet
إِنَّ
inna
Indeed
ٱللَّهَ
al-laha
Allah
قَدۡ
qad
(has) surely
بَعَثَ
ba'atha
raised
لَكُمۡ
lakum
for you
طَالُوتَ
taluta
Talut
مَلِكٗاۚ
malikan
(as) a king
قَالُوٓاْ
qalu
They said
أَنَّىٰ
anna
How
يَكُونُ
yakunu
can be
لَهُ
lahu
for him
ٱلۡمُلۡكُ
al-mul'ku
the kingship
عَلَيۡنَا
alayna
over us
وَنَحۡنُ
wanahnu
while we
أَحَقُّ
ahaqqu
(are) more entitled
بِٱلۡمُلۡكِ
bil-mul'ki
to kingship
مِنۡهُ
min'hu
than him
وَلَمۡ
walam
and not
يُؤۡتَ
yu'ta
he has been given
سَعَةٗ
sa'atan
abundance
مِّنَ
mina
of
ٱلۡمَالِۚ
al-mali
[the] wealth
قَالَ
qala
He said
إِنَّ
inna
Indeed
ٱللَّهَ
al-laha
Allah
ٱصۡطَفَىٰهُ
is'tafahu
has chosen him
عَلَيۡكُمۡ
alaykum
over you
وَزَادَهُۥ
wazadahu
and increased him
بَسۡطَةٗ
bastatan
abundantly
فِي
fi
in
ٱلۡعِلۡمِ
al-'il'mi
[the] knowledge
وَٱلۡجِسۡمِۖ
wal-jis'mi
and [the] physique
وَٱللَّهُ
wal-lahu
And Allah
يُؤۡتِي
yu'ti
gives
مُلۡكَهُۥ
mul'kahu
His kingdom
مَن
man
(to) whom
يَشَآءُۚ
yashau
He wills
وَٱللَّهُ
wal-lahu
And Allah
وَٰسِعٌ
wasi'un
(is) All-Encompassing
عَلِيمٞ
alimun
All-Knowing
٢٤٧
2:248
وَقَالَ
waqala
And said
لَهُمۡ
lahum
to them
نَبِيُّهُمۡ
nabiyyuhum
their Prophet
إِنَّ
inna
Indeed
ءَايَةَ
ayata
a sign
مُلۡكِهِۦٓ
mul'kihi
(of) his kingship
أَن
an
(is) that
يَأۡتِيَكُمُ
yatiyakumu
will come to you
ٱلتَّابُوتُ
al-tabutu
the ark
فِيهِ
fihi
in it
سَكِينَةٞ
sakinatun
(is) tranquility
مِّن
min
from
رَّبِّكُمۡ
rabbikum
your Lord
وَبَقِيَّةٞ
wabaqiyyatun
and a remnant
مِّمَّا
mimma
of what
تَرَكَ
taraka
(was) left
ءَالُ
alu
(by the) family
مُوسَىٰ
musa
(of) Musa
وَءَالُ
waalu
and family
هَٰرُونَ
haruna
(of) Harun
تَحۡمِلُهُ
tahmiluhu
will carry it
ٱلۡمَلَٰٓئِكَةُۚ
al-malaikatu
the Angels
إِنَّ
inna
Indeed
فِي
fi
in
ذَٰلِكَ
dhalika
that
لَأٓيَةٗ
laayatan
(is) surely a sign
لَّكُمۡ
lakum
for you
إِن
in
if
كُنتُم
kuntum
you are
مُّؤۡمِنِينَ
mu'minina
believers
٢٤٨
