أَيۡمَٰنِكُمۡ
aymanikum
your oaths
وَلَٰكِن
walakin
[and] but
يُؤَاخِذُكُم
yuakhidhukum
He takes you to task
بِمَا
bima
for what
كَسَبَتۡ
kasabat
(have) earned
قُلُوبُكُمۡۗ
qulubukum
your hearts
وَٱللَّهُ
wal-lahu
And Allah
غَفُورٌ
ghafurun
(is) Oft-Forgiving
حَلِيمٞ
halimun
Most Forbearing
٢٢٥
2:226
لِّلَّذِينَ
lilladhina
For those who
يُؤۡلُونَ
yu'luna
swear (off)
مِن
min
from
نِّسَآئِهِمۡ
nisaihim
their wives
تَرَبُّصُ
tarabbusu
(is a) waiting (of)
أَرۡبَعَةِ
arba'ati
four
أَشۡهُرٖۖ
ashhurin
months
فَإِن
fa-in
then if
فَآءُو
fau
they return
فَإِنَّ
fa-inna
then indeed
ٱللَّهَ
al-laha
Allah
غَفُورٞ
ghafurun
(is) Oft-Forgiving
رَّحِيمٞ
rahimun
Most Merciful
٢٢٦
2:227
وَإِنۡ
wa-in
And if
عَزَمُواْ
azamu
they resolve
ٱلطَّلَٰقَ
al-talaqa
(on) [the] divorce
فَإِنَّ
fa-inna
then indeed
ٱللَّهَ
al-laha
Allah
سَمِيعٌ
sami'un
(is) All-Hearing
عَلِيمٞ
alimun
All-Knowing
٢٢٧
2:228
وَٱلۡمُطَلَّقَٰتُ
wal-mutalaqatu
And the women who are divorced
يَتَرَبَّصۡنَ
yatarabbasna
shall wait
بِأَنفُسِهِنَّ
bi-anfusihinna
concerning themselves
ثَلَٰثَةَ
thalathata
(for) three
قُرُوٓءٖۚ
quruin
monthly periods
وَلَا
wala
And (it is) not
يَحِلُّ
yahillu
lawful
لَهُنَّ
lahunna
for them
أَن
an
that
يَكۡتُمۡنَ
yaktum'na
they conceal
مَا
ma
what
خَلَقَ
khalaqa
(has been) created
ٱللَّهُ
al-lahu
(by) Allah
فِيٓ
fi
in
أَرۡحَامِهِنَّ
arhamihinna
their wombs
إِن
in
if
كُنَّ
kunna
they
يُؤۡمِنَّ
yu'minna
believe
بِٱللَّهِ
bil-lahi
in Allah
وَٱلۡيَوۡمِ
wal-yawmi
and the Day
ٱلۡأٓخِرِۚ
al-akhiri
[the] Last
وَبُعُولَتُهُنَّ
wabu'ulatuhunna
And their husbands
أَحَقُّ
ahaqqu
(have) better right
بِرَدِّهِنَّ
biraddihinna
to take them back
فِي
fi
in
ذَٰلِكَ
dhalika
that (period)
إِنۡ
in
if
أَرَادُوٓاْ
aradu
they wish
إِصۡلَٰحٗاۚ
is'lahan
(for) reconciliation
وَلَهُنَّ
walahunna
And for them
مِثۡلُ
mith'lu
(is the) like
ٱلَّذِي
alladhi
(of) that which
عَلَيۡهِنَّ
alayhinna
(is) on them
بِٱلۡمَعۡرُوفِۚ
bil-ma'rufi
in a reasonable manner
وَلِلرِّجَالِ
walilrrijali
and for the men
عَلَيۡهِنَّ
alayhinna
over them
دَرَجَةٞۗ
darajatun
(is) a degree
وَٱللَّهُ
wal-lahu
And Allah
عَزِيزٌ
azizun
(is) All-Mighty
حَكِيمٌ
hakimun
All-Wise
٢٢٨
2:229
ٱلطَّلَٰقُ
al-talaqu
The divorce
مَرَّتَانِۖ
marratani
(is) twice
فَإِمۡسَاكُۢ
fa-im'sakun
Then to retain
بِمَعۡرُوفٍ
bima'rufin
in a reasonable manner
أَوۡ
aw
or
تَسۡرِيحُۢ
tasrihun
to release (her)
بِإِحۡسَٰنٖۗ
bi-ih'sanin
with kindness
وَلَا
wala
And (it is) not
يَحِلُّ
yahillu
lawful
لَكُمۡ
lakum
for you
أَن
an
that
تَأۡخُذُواْ
takhudhu
you take (back)
مِمَّآ
mimma
whatever
ءَاتَيۡتُمُوهُنَّ
ataytumuhunna
you have given them
شَيۡـًٔا
shayan
anything
إِلَّآ
illa
except
أَن
an
if
يَخَافَآ
yakhafa
both fear
أَلَّا
alla
that not
يُقِيمَا
yuqima
they both (can) keep
حُدُودَ
hududa
(the) limits
ٱللَّهِۖ
al-lahi
(of) Allah
فَإِنۡ
fa-in
But if
خِفۡتُمۡ
khif'tum
you fear
أَلَّا
alla
that not
يُقِيمَا
yuqima
they both (can) keep
حُدُودَ
hududa
(the) limits
ٱللَّهِ
al-lahi
(of) Allah
فَلَا
fala
then (there is) no
جُنَاحَ
junaha
sin
عَلَيۡهِمَا
alayhima
on both of them
فِيمَا
fima
in what
ٱفۡتَدَتۡ
if'tadat
she ransoms
بِهِۦۗ
bihi
concerning it
تِلۡكَ
til'ka
These
حُدُودُ
hududu
(are the) limits
ٱللَّهِ
al-lahi
(of) Allah
فَلَا
fala
so (do) not
تَعۡتَدُوهَاۚ
ta'taduha
transgress them
وَمَن
waman
And whoever
يَتَعَدَّ
yata'adda
transgresses
حُدُودَ
hududa
(the) limits
ٱللَّهِ
al-lahi
(of) Allah
فَأُوْلَٰٓئِكَ
fa-ulaika
then those
هُمُ
humu
they
ٱلظَّٰلِمُونَ
al-zalimuna
(are) the wrongdoers
٢٢٩
2:230
فَإِن
fa-in
Then if
طَلَّقَهَا
tallaqaha
he divorces her
فَلَا
fala
then (she is) not
تَحِلُّ
tahillu
lawful
لَهُۥ
lahu
for him
مِنۢ
min
from
بَعۡدُ
ba'du
after (that)
حَتَّىٰ
hatta
until
تَنكِحَ
tankiha
she marries
زَوۡجًا
zawjan
a spouse
غَيۡرَهُۥۗ
ghayrahu
other than him
فَإِن
fa-in
Then if
طَلَّقَهَا
tallaqaha
he divorces her
فَلَا
fala
then no
جُنَاحَ
junaha
sin
عَلَيۡهِمَآ
alayhima
on them
أَن
an
if
يَتَرَاجَعَآ
yataraja'a
they return to each other
إِن
in
if
ظَنَّآ
zanna
they believe
أَن
an
that
يُقِيمَا
yuqima
they (will be able to) keep
حُدُودَ
hududa
(the) limits
ٱللَّهِۗ
al-lahi
(of) Allah
وَتِلۡكَ
watil'ka
And these
حُدُودُ
hududu
(are the) limits
ٱللَّهِ
al-lahi
(of) Allah
يُبَيِّنُهَا
yubayyinuha
He makes them clear
لِقَوۡمٖ
liqawmin
to a people
يَعۡلَمُونَ
ya'lamuna
who know
٢٣٠
