قَالَ
qala
He will say
كَذَٰلِكَ
kadhalika
Thus
أَتَتۡكَ
atatka
came to you
ءَايَٰتُنَا
ayatuna
Our Signs
فَنَسِيتَهَاۖ
fanasitaha
but you forgot them
وَكَذَٰلِكَ
wakadhalika
and thus
ٱلۡيَوۡمَ
al-yawma
today
تُنسَىٰ
tunsa
you will be forgotten
١٢٦
20:127
وَكَذَٰلِكَ
wakadhalika
And thus
نَجۡزِي
najzi
We recompense
مَنۡ
man
(he) who
أَسۡرَفَ
asrafa
transgresses
وَلَمۡ
walam
and not
يُؤۡمِنۢ
yu'min
believes
بِـَٔايَٰتِ
biayati
in (the) Signs
رَبِّهِۦۚ
rabbihi
(of) his Lord
وَلَعَذَابُ
wala'adhabu
And surely (the) punishment
ٱلۡأٓخِرَةِ
al-akhirati
(of) the Hereafter
أَشَدُّ
ashaddu
(is) more severe
وَأَبۡقَىٰٓ
wa-abqa
and more lasting
١٢٧
20:128
أَفَلَمۡ
afalam
Then has not
يَهۡدِ
yahdi
it guided
لَهُمۡ
lahum
[for] them
كَمۡ
kam
how many
أَهۡلَكۡنَا
ahlakna
We (have) destroyed
قَبۡلَهُم
qablahum
before them
مِّنَ
mina
of
ٱلۡقُرُونِ
al-quruni
the generations
يَمۡشُونَ
yamshuna
(as) they walk
فِي
fi
in
مَسَٰكِنِهِمۡۚ
masakinihim
their dwellings
إِنَّ
inna
Indeed
فِي
fi
in
ذَٰلِكَ
dhalika
that
لَأٓيَٰتٖ
laayatin
surely (are) Signs
لِّأُوْلِي
li-uli
for possessors
ٱلنُّهَىٰ
al-nuha
(of) intelligence
١٢٨
20:129
وَلَوۡلَا
walawla
And if not
كَلِمَةٞ
kalimatun
(for) a Word
سَبَقَتۡ
sabaqat
(that) preceded
مِن
min
from
رَّبِّكَ
rabbika
your Lord
لَكَانَ
lakana
surely (would) have been
لِزَامٗا
lizaman
an obligation
وَأَجَلٞ
wa-ajalun
and a term
مُّسَمّٗى
musamman
determined
١٢٩
20:130
فَٱصۡبِرۡ
fa-is'bir
So be patient
عَلَىٰ
ala
over
مَا
ma
what
يَقُولُونَ
yaquluna
they say
وَسَبِّحۡ
wasabbih
and glorify
بِحَمۡدِ
bihamdi
with praise
رَبِّكَ
rabbika
(of) your Lord
قَبۡلَ
qabla
before
طُلُوعِ
tulu'i
(the) rising
ٱلشَّمۡسِ
al-shamsi
(of) the sun
وَقَبۡلَ
waqabla
and before
غُرُوبِهَاۖ
ghurubiha
its setting
وَمِنۡ
wamin
and from
ءَانَآيِٕ
anai
(the) hours
ٱلَّيۡلِ
al-layli
(of) the night
فَسَبِّحۡ
fasabbih
and glorify
وَأَطۡرَافَ
wa-atrafa
(at the) ends
ٱلنَّهَارِ
al-nahari
(of) the day
لَعَلَّكَ
la'allaka
so that you may
تَرۡضَىٰ
tarda
be satisfied
١٣٠
20:131
وَلَا
wala
And (do) not
تَمُدَّنَّ
tamuddanna
extend
عَيۡنَيۡكَ
aynayka
your eyes
إِلَىٰ
ila
towards
مَا
ma
what
مَتَّعۡنَا
matta'na
We have given for enjoyment
بِهِۦٓ
bihi
[with it]
أَزۡوَٰجٗا
azwajan
pairs
مِّنۡهُمۡ
min'hum
of them
زَهۡرَةَ
zahrata
(the) splendor
ٱلۡحَيَوٰةِ
al-hayati
(of) the life
ٱلدُّنۡيَا
al-dun'ya
(of) the world
لِنَفۡتِنَهُمۡ
linaftinahum
that We may test them
فِيهِۚ
fihi
in it
وَرِزۡقُ
wariz'qu
And (the) provision
رَبِّكَ
rabbika
(of) your Lord
خَيۡرٞ
khayrun
(is) better
وَأَبۡقَىٰ
wa-abqa
and more lasting
١٣١
20:132
وَأۡمُرۡ
wamur
And enjoin
أَهۡلَكَ
ahlaka
(on) your family
بِٱلصَّلَوٰةِ
bil-salati
the prayer
وَٱصۡطَبِرۡ
wa-is'tabir
and be steadfast
عَلَيۡهَاۖ
alayha
therein
لَا
la
Not
نَسۡـَٔلُكَ
nasaluka
We ask you
رِزۡقٗاۖ
riz'qan
(for) provision
نَّحۡنُ
nahnu
We
نَرۡزُقُكَۗ
narzuquka
provide (for) you
وَٱلۡعَٰقِبَةُ
wal-'aqibatu
and the outcome
لِلتَّقۡوَىٰ
lilttaqwa
(is) for the righteous[ness]
١٣٢
20:133
وَقَالُواْ
waqalu
And they say
لَوۡلَا
lawla
Why not
يَأۡتِينَا
yatina
he brings us
بِـَٔايَةٖ
biayatin
a sign
مِّن
min
from
رَّبِّهِۦٓۚ
rabbihi
his Lord
أَوَلَمۡ
awalam
Has not
تَأۡتِهِم
tatihim
come to them
بَيِّنَةُ
bayyinatu
evidence
مَا
ma
(of) what
فِي
fi
(was) in
ٱلصُّحُفِ
al-suhufi
the Scriptures
ٱلۡأُولَىٰ
al-ula
the former
١٣٣
20:134
وَلَوۡ
walaw
And if
أَنَّآ
anna
We
أَهۡلَكۡنَٰهُم
ahlaknahum
(had) destroyed them
بِعَذَابٖ
bi'adhabin
with a punishment
مِّن
min
before him
قَبۡلِهِۦ
qablihi
before him
لَقَالُواْ
laqalu
surely they (would) have said
رَبَّنَا
rabbana
Our Lord
لَوۡلَآ
lawla
why not
أَرۡسَلۡتَ
arsalta
You sent
إِلَيۡنَا
ilayna
to us
رَسُولٗا
rasulan
a Messenger
فَنَتَّبِعَ
fanattabi'a
so we (could) have followed
ءَايَٰتِكَ
ayatika
Your signs
مِن
min
before
قَبۡلِ
qabli
before
أَن
an
[that]
نَّذِلَّ
nadhilla
we were humiliated
وَنَخۡزَىٰ
wanakhza
and disgraced
١٣٤
20:135
قُلۡ
qul
Say
كُلّٞ
kullun
Each
مُّتَرَبِّصٞ
mutarabbisun
(is) waiting
فَتَرَبَّصُواْۖ
fatarabbasu
so await
فَسَتَعۡلَمُونَ
fasata'lamuna
Then you will know
مَنۡ
man
who
أَصۡحَٰبُ
ashabu
(are the) companions
ٱلصِّرَٰطِ
al-sirati
(of) the way
ٱلسَّوِيِّ
al-sawiyi
[the] even
وَمَنِ
wamani
and who
ٱهۡتَدَىٰ
ih'tada
is guided
١٣٥
