تَسۡتَطِيعَ
tastaṭeeʻa
will be able
مَعِيَ
maʻiya
with me
صَبۡرٗا
ṣabraa?
(to have) patience
٧٥
18:76
قَالَ
Q̣aala
He said
إِن
ʹiñ
If
سَأَلۡتُكَ
saʹaltuka
I ask you
عَن
ʻañ
about
شَيۡءِۭ
shayʹim
anything
بَعۡدَهَا
baʻdahaa
after it
فَلَا
falaa
then (do) not
تُصَٰحِبۡنِيۖ
tuṣaaḥibnee:
keep me as a companion
قَدۡ
q̣ad
Verily
بَلَغۡتَ
balag̣ta
you have reached
مِن
mil
from me
لَّدُنِّي
ladunnee
from me
عُذۡرٗا
ʻuẓraa.
an excuse
٧٦
18:77
فَٱنطَلَقَا
Fañṭalaq̣aa:
So they set out
حَتَّىٰٓ
Ḥattaaa
until
إِذَآ
ʹiẓaaa
when
أَتَيَآ
ʹatayaaa
they came
أَهۡلَ
ʹahla
(to the) people
قَرۡيَةٍ
q̣aryatinis
(of) a town
ٱسۡتَطۡعَمَآ
taṭʻamaaa
they asked for food
أَهۡلَهَا
ʹahlahaa
(from) its people
فَأَبَوۡاْ
faʹabaw
but they refused
أَن
ʹañy
to
يُضَيِّفُوهُمَا
yuḍayyifoohumaa
offer them hospitality
فَوَجَدَا
fawajadaa
Then they found
فِيهَا
feehaa
in it
جِدَارٗا
jidaarañy
a wall
يُرِيدُ
yureedu
(that) want(ed)
أَن
ʹañy
to
يَنقَضَّ
yañq̣aḍḍa
collapse
فَأَقَامَهُۥۖ
faʹaq̣aamah.
so he set it straight
قَالَ
Q̣aala
He said
لَوۡ
law
If
شِئۡتَ
shiʹta
you wished
لَتَّخَذۡتَ
lattakhaẓta
surely you (could) have taken
عَلَيۡهِ
ʻalayhi
for it
أَجۡرٗا
ʹajraa.
a payment
٧٧
18:78
قَالَ
Q̣aala
He said
هَٰذَا
haaẓaa
This
فِرَاقُ
firaaq̣u
(is) parting
بَيۡنِي
baynee
between me
وَبَيۡنِكَۚ
wa-baynik:
and between you
سَأُنَبِّئُكَ
saʹunabbiʹuka
I will inform you
بِتَأۡوِيلِ
bitaʹweeli
of (the) interpretation
مَا
maa-
(of) what
لَمۡ
lam
not
تَسۡتَطِع
tastaṭiʻ
you were able
عَّلَيۡهِ
ʻalayhi
on it
صَبۡرًا
ṣabraa.
(to have) patience
٧٨
18:79
أَمَّا
ʹAmmas
As for
ٱلسَّفِينَةُ
safeenatu
the ship
فَكَانَتۡ
fakaanat
it was
لِمَسَٰكِينَ
limasaakeena
of (the) poor people
يَعۡمَلُونَ
yaʻmaloona
working
فِي
fil
in
ٱلۡبَحۡرِ
baḥri
the sea
فَأَرَدتُّ
faʹarattu
So I intended
أَنۡ
ʹan
that
أَعِيبَهَا
ʹaʻeebahaa
I cause defect (in) it
وَكَانَ
wa-kaana
(as there) was
وَرَآءَهُم
wa-raaaʹahum
after them
مَّلِكٞ
malikuñy
a king
يَأۡخُذُ
yaʹkhuẓu
who seized
كُلَّ
kulla
every
سَفِينَةٍ
safeenatin
ship
غَصۡبٗا
g̣aṣbaa.
(by) force
٧٩
18:80
وَأَمَّا
Wa-ʹammal
And as for
ٱلۡغُلَٰمُ
g̣ulaamu
the boy
فَكَانَ
fakaana
his parents were
أَبَوَاهُ
ʹabawaahu
his parents were
مُؤۡمِنَيۡنِ
Muʹminayni
believers
فَخَشِينَآ
fakhasheenaaa
and we feared
أَن
ʹañy
that
يُرۡهِقَهُمَا
yurhiq̣ahumaa
he would overburden them
طُغۡيَٰنٗا
ṭug̣yaanañw
(by) transgression
وَكُفۡرٗا
wakufraa.
and disbelief
٨٠
18:81
فَأَرَدۡنَآ
Faʹaradnaaa
So we intended
أَن
ʹañy
that
يُبۡدِلَهُمَا
yubdilahumaa
would change for them
رَبُّهُمَا
Rabbuhumaa
their Lord
خَيۡرٗا
khayram
a better
مِّنۡهُ
minhu
than him
زَكَوٰةٗ
zakaatañw
(in) purity
وَأَقۡرَبَ
waʹaq̣raba
and nearer
رُحۡمٗا
ruḥmaa.
(in) affection
٨١
18:82
وَأَمَّا
Wa-ʹammal
And as for
ٱلۡجِدَارُ
jidaaru
the wall
فَكَانَ
fakaana
it was
لِغُلَٰمَيۡنِ
lig̣ulaamayni
for two orphan boys
يَتِيمَيۡنِ
yateemayni
for two orphan boys
فِي
fil
in
ٱلۡمَدِينَةِ
Madeenati
the town
وَكَانَ
wa-kaana
and was
تَحۡتَهُۥ
taḥtahoo
underneath it
كَنزٞ
kañzul
a treasure
لَّهُمَا
lahumaa
for them
وَكَانَ
wa-kaana
and was
أَبُوهُمَا
ʹaboohumaa
their father
صَٰلِحٗا
ṣaaliḥaa:
righteous
فَأَرَادَ
faʹaraada
So intended
رَبُّكَ
Rabbuka
your Lord
أَن
ʹañy
that
يَبۡلُغَآ
yablug̣aaa
they reach
أَشُدَّهُمَا
ʹashuddahumaa
their maturity
وَيَسۡتَخۡرِجَا
wa-yastakhrijaa
and bring forth
كَنزَهُمَا
kañzahumaa
their treasure
رَحۡمَةٗ
raḥmatam
(as) a mercy
مِّن
mir
from
رَّبِّكَۚ
Rabbik.
your Lord
وَمَا
Wa-maa
And not
فَعَلۡتُهُۥ
faʻaltuhoo
I did it
عَنۡ
ʻan
on
أَمۡرِيۚ
ʹamree.
my (own) accord
ذَٰلِكَ
Ẓaalika
That
تَأۡوِيلُ
taʹweelu
(is the) interpretation
مَا
maa-
(of) what
لَمۡ
lam
not
تَسۡطِع
tasṭiʻ
you were able
عَّلَيۡهِ
ʻalayhi
on it
صَبۡرٗا
ṣabraa.
(to have) patience
٨٢
18:83
وَيَسۡـَٔلُونَكَ
Wa-yasʹaloonaka
And they ask you
عَن
ʻañ
about
ذِي
Ẓil
Dhul-qarnain
ٱلۡقَرۡنَيۡنِۖ
Q̣arnayn.
Dhul-qarnain
قُلۡ
Q̣ul
Say
سَأَتۡلُواْ
saʹatloo
I will recite
عَلَيۡكُم
ʻalaykum
to you
مِّنۡهُ
minhu
about him
ذِكۡرًا
ẓikraa.
a remembrance
