18:77
فَٱنطَلَقَا
fa-intalaqa
So they set out
حَتَّىٰٓ
hatta
until
إِذَآ
idha
when
أَتَيَآ
ataya
they came
أَهۡلَ
ahla
(to the) people
قَرۡيَةٍ
qaryatin
(of) a town
ٱسۡتَطۡعَمَآ
is'tat'ama
they asked for food
أَهۡلَهَا
ahlaha
(from) its people
فَأَبَوۡاْ
fa-abaw
but they refused
أَن
an
to
يُضَيِّفُوهُمَا
yudayyifuhuma
offer them hospitality
فَوَجَدَا
fawajada
Then they found
فِيهَا
fiha
in it
جِدَارٗا
jidaran
a wall
يُرِيدُ
yuridu
(that) want(ed)
أَن
an
to
يَنقَضَّ
yanqadda
collapse
فَأَقَامَهُۥۖ
fa-aqamahu
so he set it straight
قَالَ
qala
He said
لَوۡ
law
If
شِئۡتَ
shi'ta
you wished
لَتَّخَذۡتَ
lattakhadhta
surely you (could) have taken
عَلَيۡهِ
alayhi
for it
أَجۡرٗا
ajran
a payment
٧٧
18:78
قَالَ
qala
He said
هَٰذَا
hadha
This
فِرَاقُ
firaqu
(is) parting
بَيۡنِي
bayni
between me
وَبَيۡنِكَۚ
wabaynika
and between you
سَأُنَبِّئُكَ
sa-unabbi-uka
I will inform you
بِتَأۡوِيلِ
bitawili
of (the) interpretation
مَا
ma
(of) what
لَمۡ
lam
not
تَسۡتَطِع
tastati'
you were able
عَّلَيۡهِ
alayhi
on it
صَبۡرًا
sabran
(to have) patience
٧٨
18:79
أَمَّا
amma
As for
ٱلسَّفِينَةُ
al-safinatu
the ship
فَكَانَتۡ
fakanat
it was
لِمَسَٰكِينَ
limasakina
of (the) poor people
يَعۡمَلُونَ
ya'maluna
working
فِي
fi
in
ٱلۡبَحۡرِ
al-bahri
the sea
فَأَرَدتُّ
fa-aradttu
So I intended
أَنۡ
an
that
أَعِيبَهَا
a'ibaha
I cause defect (in) it
وَكَانَ
wakana
(as there) was
وَرَآءَهُم
waraahum
after them
مَّلِكٞ
malikun
a king
يَأۡخُذُ
yakhudhu
who seized
كُلَّ
kulla
every
سَفِينَةٍ
safinatin
ship
غَصۡبٗا
ghasban
(by) force
٧٩
18:80
وَأَمَّا
wa-amma
And as for
ٱلۡغُلَٰمُ
al-ghulamu
the boy
فَكَانَ
fakana
his parents were
أَبَوَاهُ
abawahu
his parents were
مُؤۡمِنَيۡنِ
mu'minayni
believers
فَخَشِينَآ
fakhashina
and we feared
أَن
an
that
يُرۡهِقَهُمَا
yur'hiqahuma
he would overburden them
طُغۡيَٰنٗا
tugh'yanan
(by) transgression
وَكُفۡرٗا
wakuf'ran
and disbelief
٨٠
18:81
فَأَرَدۡنَآ
fa-aradna
So we intended
أَن
an
that
يُبۡدِلَهُمَا
yub'dilahuma
would change for them
رَبُّهُمَا
rabbuhuma
their Lord
خَيۡرٗا
khayran
a better
مِّنۡهُ
min'hu
than him
زَكَوٰةٗ
zakatan
(in) purity
وَأَقۡرَبَ
wa-aqraba
and nearer
رُحۡمٗا
ruh'man
(in) affection
٨١
18:82
وَأَمَّا
wa-amma
And as for
ٱلۡجِدَارُ
al-jidaru
the wall
فَكَانَ
fakana
it was
لِغُلَٰمَيۡنِ
lighulamayni
for two orphan boys
يَتِيمَيۡنِ
yatimayni
for two orphan boys
فِي
fi
in
ٱلۡمَدِينَةِ
al-madinati
the town
وَكَانَ
wakana
and was
تَحۡتَهُۥ
tahtahu
underneath it
كَنزٞ
kanzun
a treasure
لَّهُمَا
lahuma
for them
وَكَانَ
wakana
and was
أَبُوهُمَا
abuhuma
their father
صَٰلِحٗا
salihan
righteous
فَأَرَادَ
fa-arada
So intended
رَبُّكَ
rabbuka
your Lord
أَن
an
that
يَبۡلُغَآ
yablugha
they reach
أَشُدَّهُمَا
ashuddahuma
their maturity
وَيَسۡتَخۡرِجَا
wayastakhrija
and bring forth
كَنزَهُمَا
kanzahuma
their treasure
رَحۡمَةٗ
rahmatan
(as) a mercy
مِّن
min
from
رَّبِّكَۚ
rabbika
your Lord
وَمَا
wama
And not
فَعَلۡتُهُۥ
fa'altuhu
I did it
عَنۡ
an
on
أَمۡرِيۚ
amri
my (own) accord
ذَٰلِكَ
dhalika
That
تَأۡوِيلُ
tawilu
(is the) interpretation
مَا
ma
(of) what
لَمۡ
lam
not
تَسۡطِع
tasti'
you were able
عَّلَيۡهِ
alayhi
on it
صَبۡرٗا
sabran
(to have) patience

18:83
وَيَسۡـَٔلُونَكَ
wayasalunaka
And they ask you
عَن

Dhul-qarnain
ٱلۡقَرۡنَيۡنِۖ
al-qarnayni
Dhul-qarnain
قُلۡ
qul
Say
سَأَتۡلُواْ
sa-atlu
I will recite
عَلَيۡكُم
alaykum
to you
مِّنۡهُ
min'hu
about him
ذِكۡرًا
dhik'ran
a remembrance
