وَلَقَدۡ
Wa-laq̣ad
And certainly
صَرَّفۡنَا
ṣarrafnaa
We have explained
فِي
fee
in
هَٰذَا
haaẓal
this
ٱلۡقُرۡءَانِ
Q̣urʹaani
the Quran
لِلنَّاسِ
linnaasi
for mankind
مِن
miñ
of
كُلِّ
kulli
every
مَثَلٖۚ
mas̤al:
example
وَكَانَ
wa-kaanal
But is
ٱلۡإِنسَٰنُ
ʹIñsaanu
the man
أَكۡثَرَ
ʹaks̤ara
(in) most
شَيۡءٖ
shayʹiñ
things
جَدَلٗا
jadalaa.
quarrelsome
٥٤
18:55
وَمَا
Wa-maa
And nothing
مَنَعَ
manaʻan
prevents
ٱلنَّاسَ
naasa
men
أَن
ʹañy
that
يُؤۡمِنُوٓاْ
yuʹminooo
they believe
إِذۡ
ʹiẓ
when
جَآءَهُمُ
jaaaʹahumul
has come to them
ٱلۡهُدَىٰ
Hudaa
the guidance
وَيَسۡتَغۡفِرُواْ
wa-yastag̣firoo
and they ask forgiveness
رَبَّهُمۡ
Rabbahum
(of) their Lord
إِلَّآ
ʹillaaa
except
أَن
ʹañ
that
تَأۡتِيَهُمۡ
taʹtiyahum
comes to them
سُنَّةُ
sunnatul
(the) way
ٱلۡأَوَّلِينَ
ʹawwaleena
(of) the former (people)
أَوۡ
ʹaw
or
يَأۡتِيَهُمُ
yaʹtiyahumul
comes to them
ٱلۡعَذَابُ
ʻAẓaabu
the punishment
قُبُلٗا
q̣ubulaa?
before (them)
٥٥
18:56
وَمَا
Wa-maa
And not
نُرۡسِلُ
nursilul
We send
ٱلۡمُرۡسَلِينَ
mursaleena
the Messengers
إِلَّا
ʹillaa
except
مُبَشِّرِينَ
mubashshireena
(as) bearers of glad tidings
وَمُنذِرِينَۚ
wa-muñẓireen:
and (as) warners
وَيُجَٰدِلُ
wa-yujaadilul
And dispute
ٱلَّذِينَ
laẓeena
those who
كَفَرُواْ
kafaroo
disbelieve
بِٱلۡبَٰطِلِ
bilbaaṭili
with falsehood
لِيُدۡحِضُواْ
liyudḥiḍoo
to refute
بِهِ
bihil
thereby
ٱلۡحَقَّۖ
Ḥaq̣q̣:
the truth
وَٱتَّخَذُوٓاْ
wattakhaẓooo
And they take
ءَايَٰتِي
ʹAayaatee
My Verses
وَمَآ
wa-maaa
and what
أُنذِرُواْ
ʹuñẓiroo
they are warned
هُزُوٗا
huzuwaa!
(in) ridicule
٥٦
18:57
وَمَنۡ
Wa-man
And who
أَظۡلَمُ
ʹaz̤̣lamu
(is) more wrong
مِمَّن
mimmañ
than (he) who
ذُكِّرَ
ẓukkira
is reminded
بِـَٔايَٰتِ
biʹAayaati
of the Verses
رَبِّهِۦ
Rabbihee
(of) his Lord
فَأَعۡرَضَ
faʹaʻraḍa
but turns away
عَنۡهَا
ʻanhaa
from them
وَنَسِيَ
Wanasiya
and forgets
مَا
maa-
what
قَدَّمَتۡ
q̣addamat
have sent forth
يَدَاهُۚ
yadaah?
his hands
إِنَّا
ʹInnaa
Indeed We
جَعَلۡنَا
jaʻalnaa
[We] have placed
عَلَىٰ
ʻalaa
over
قُلُوبِهِمۡ
q̣uloobihim
their hearts
أَكِنَّةً
ʹakinnatan
coverings
أَن
ʹañy
lest
يَفۡقَهُوهُ
yafq̣ahoohu
they understand it
وَفِيٓ
wa-feee
and in
ءَاذَانِهِمۡ
ʹaaẓaanihim
their ears
وَقۡرٗاۖ
waq̣raa.
(is) deafness
وَإِن
Wa-ʹiñ
And if
تَدۡعُهُمۡ
tadʻuhum
you call them
إِلَى
ʹilal
to
ٱلۡهُدَىٰ
Hudaa
the guidance
فَلَن
falañy
then never
يَهۡتَدُوٓاْ
yahtadooo
they will be guided
إِذًا
ʹiẓan
then
أَبَدٗا
ʹabadaa.
ever
٥٧
18:58
وَرَبُّكَ
Wa-Rabbukal
And your Lord
ٱلۡغَفُورُ
G̣afooru
(is) the Most Forgiving
ذُو
Ẓur
Owner
ٱلرَّحۡمَةِۖ
Raḥmah.
(of) the Mercy
لَوۡ
Law
If
يُؤَاخِذُهُم
yuʹaakhiẓuhum̃
He were to seize them
بِمَا
bimaa
for what
كَسَبُواْ
kasaboo
they have earned
لَعَجَّلَ
laʻajjala
surely He (would) have hastened
لَهُمُ
lahumul
for them
ٱلۡعَذَابَۚ
ʻaẓaab:
the punishment
بَل
bal
But
لَّهُم
lahum
for them
مَّوۡعِدٞ
mawʻidul
(is) an appointment
لَّن
lañy
never
يَجِدُواْ
yajidoo
they will find
مِن
miñ
other than it
دُونِهِۦ
doonihee
other than it
مَوۡئِلٗا
mawʹilaa.
an escape
٥٨
18:59
وَتِلۡكَ
Wa-tilkal
And these
ٱلۡقُرَىٰٓ
q̣uraaa
[the] towns
أَهۡلَكۡنَٰهُمۡ
ʹahlaknaahum
We destroyed them
لَمَّا
lammaa
when
ظَلَمُواْ
z̤̣alamoo
they wronged
وَجَعَلۡنَا
wa-jaʻalnaa
and We made
لِمَهۡلِكِهِم
limahlikihim
for their destruction
مَّوۡعِدٗا
mawʻidaa.
an appointed time
٥٩
18:60
وَإِذۡ
Wa-ʹiẓ
And when
قَالَ
q̣aala
said
مُوسَىٰ
Moosaa
Musa
لِفَتَىٰهُ
lifataahu
to his boy
لَآ
laaa
Not
أَبۡرَحُ
ʹabraḥu
I will cease
حَتَّىٰٓ
ḥattaaa
until
أَبۡلُغَ
ʹablug̣a
I reach
مَجۡمَعَ
majmaʻal
the junction
ٱلۡبَحۡرَيۡنِ
baḥrayni
(of) the two seas
أَوۡ
ʹaw
or
أَمۡضِيَ
ʹamḍiya
I continue
حُقُبٗا
ḥuq̣ubaa.
(for) a long period
٦٠
18:61
فَلَمَّا
Falammaa
But when
بَلَغَا
balag̣aa
they reached
مَجۡمَعَ
majmaʻa
the junction
بَيۡنِهِمَا
baynihimaa
between them
نَسِيَا
nasiyaa
they forgot
حُوتَهُمَا
ḥootahumaa
their fish
فَٱتَّخَذَ
fattakhaẓa
and it took
سَبِيلَهُۥ
sabeelahoo
its way
فِي
fil
into
ٱلۡبَحۡرِ
baḥri
the sea
سَرَبٗا
sarabaa.
slipping away
