And he entered
جَنَّتَهُۥ
jannatahu
his garden
وَهُوَ

while he
ظَالِمٞ
zalimun
(was) unjust
لِّنَفۡسِهِۦ
linafsihi
to himself
قَالَ
qala
He said
مَآ
ma
Not
أَظُنُّ
azunnu
I think
أَن

تَبِيدَ
tabida
will perish
هَٰذِهِۦٓ
hadhihi
this
أَبَدٗا
abadan
ever

18:36
وَمَآ
wama
And not
أَظُنُّ
azunnu
I think
ٱلسَّاعَةَ
al-sa'ata
the Hour
قَآئِمَةٗ
qaimatan
will occur
وَلَئِن
wala-in
And if
رُّدِدتُّ
rudidttu
I am brought back
إِلَىٰ
ila
to
رَبِّي
rabbi
my Lord
لَأَجِدَنَّ
la-ajidanna
I will surely find
خَيۡرٗا
khayran
better
مِّنۡهَا
min'ha
than this
مُنقَلَبٗا
munqalaban
(as) a return
٣٦
18:37
قَالَ
qala
Said
لَهُۥ
lahu
to him
صَاحِبُهُۥ
sahibuhu
his companion
وَهُوَ
wahuwa
while he
يُحَاوِرُهُۥٓ
yuhawiruhu
was talking to him
أَكَفَرۡتَ
akafarta
Do you disbelieve
بِٱلَّذِي
bi-alladhi
in One Who
خَلَقَكَ
khalaqaka
created you
مِن
min
from
تُرَابٖ
turabin
dust
ثُمَّ
thumma
then
مِن
min
from
نُّطۡفَةٖ
nut'fatin
a minute quantity of semen
ثُمَّ
thumma
then
سَوَّىٰكَ
sawwaka
fashioned you
رَجُلٗا
rajulan
(into) a man
٣٧
18:38
لَّٰكِنَّا۠
lakinna
But as for me
هُوَ
huwa
He
ٱللَّهُ
al-lahu
(is) Allah
رَبِّي
rabbi
my Lord
وَلَآ
wala
and not
أُشۡرِكُ
ush'riku
I associate
بِرَبِّيٓ
birabbi
with my Lord
أَحَدٗا
ahadan
anyone
٣٨
18:39
وَلَوۡلَآ
walawla
And why (did you) not
إِذۡ
idh
when
دَخَلۡتَ
dakhalta
you entered
جَنَّتَكَ
jannataka
your garden
قُلۡتَ
qul'ta
say
مَا
ma
What
شَآءَ
shaa
wills
ٱللَّهُ
al-lahu
Allah
لَا
la
(there is) no
قُوَّةَ
quwwata
power
إِلَّا
illa
except
بِٱللَّهِۚ
bil-lahi
with Allah
إِن
in
If
تَرَنِ
tarani
you see me
أَنَا۠
ana
(me)
أَقَلَّ
aqalla
lesser
مِنكَ
minka
than you
مَالٗا
malan
(in) wealth
وَوَلَدٗا
wawaladan
and children
٣٩
18:40
فَعَسَىٰ
fa'asa
It may be
رَبِّيٓ
rabbi
that my Lord
أَن
an
that my Lord
يُؤۡتِيَنِ
yu'tiyani
will give me
خَيۡرٗا
khayran
better
مِّن
min
than
جَنَّتِكَ
jannatika
your garden
وَيُرۡسِلَ
wayur'sila
and will send
عَلَيۡهَا
alayha
upon it
حُسۡبَانٗا
hus'banan
a calamity
مِّنَ
mina
from
ٱلسَّمَآءِ
al-samai
the sky
فَتُصۡبِحَ
fatus'biha
then it will become
صَعِيدٗا
sa'idan
ground
زَلَقًا
zalaqan
slippery
٤٠
18:41
أَوۡ
aw
Or
يُصۡبِحَ
yus'biha
will become
مَآؤُهَا
mauha
its water
غَوۡرٗا
ghawran
sunken
فَلَن
falan
so never
تَسۡتَطِيعَ
tastati'a
you will be able
لَهُۥ
lahu
to find it
طَلَبٗا
talaban
to find it
٤١
18:42
وَأُحِيطَ
wa-uhita
And were surrounded
بِثَمَرِهِۦ
bithamarihi
his fruits
فَأَصۡبَحَ
fa-asbaha
so he began
يُقَلِّبُ
yuqallibu
twisting
كَفَّيۡهِ
kaffayhi
his hands
عَلَىٰ
ala
over
مَآ
ma
what
أَنفَقَ
anfaqa
he (had) spent
فِيهَا
fiha
on it
وَهِيَ
wahiya
while it (had)
خَاوِيَةٌ
khawiyatun
collapsed
عَلَىٰ
ala
on
عُرُوشِهَا
urushiha
its trellises
وَيَقُولُ
wayaqulu
and he said
يَٰلَيۡتَنِي
yalaytani
Oh! I wish
لَمۡ
lam
I had not associated
أُشۡرِكۡ
ush'rik
I had not associated
بِرَبِّيٓ
birabbi
with my Lord
أَحَدٗا
ahadan
anyone
٤٢
18:43
وَلَمۡ
walam
And not
تَكُن
takun
was
لَّهُۥ
lahu
for him
فِئَةٞ
fi-atun
a group
يَنصُرُونَهُۥ
yansurunahu
(to) help him
مِن
min
other than
دُونِ
duni
other than
ٱللَّهِ
al-lahi
Allah
وَمَا
wama
and not
كَانَ
kana
was
مُنتَصِرًا
muntasiran
(he) supported
٤٣
18:44
هُنَالِكَ
hunalika
There
ٱلۡوَلَٰيَةُ
al-walayatu
the protection
لِلَّهِ
lillahi
(is) from Allah
ٱلۡحَقِّۚ
al-haqi
the True
هُوَ
huwa
He
خَيۡرٞ
khayrun
(is the) best
ثَوَابٗا
thawaban
(to) reward
وَخَيۡرٌ
wakhayrun
and (the) best
عُقۡبٗا
uq'ban
(for) the final end

18:45
وَٱضۡرِبۡ
wa-id'rib
And present
لَهُم
lahum
to them
مَّثَلَ
mathala
the example
ٱلۡحَيَوٰةِ
al-hayati
(of) the life
ٱلدُّنۡيَا
al-dun'ya
(of) the world
كَمَآءٍ
kamain
like water
أَنزَلۡنَٰهُ
anzalnahu
which We send down
مِنَ
mina
from
ٱلسَّمَآءِ
al-samai
the sky
فَٱخۡتَلَطَ
fa-ikh'talata
then mingles
بِهِۦ
bihi
with it
نَبَاتُ
nabatu
(the) vegetation
ٱلۡأَرۡضِ
al-ardi
(of) the earth
فَأَصۡبَحَ
fa-asbaha
then becomes
هَشِيمٗا
hashiman
dry stalks
تَذۡرُوهُ
tadhruhu
it (is) scattered
ٱلرِّيَٰحُۗ
al-riyahu
(by) the winds
وَكَانَ
wakana
And Allah
ٱللَّهُ
al-lahu
And Allah
عَلَىٰ
ala
over
كُلِّ
kulli
every
شَيۡءٖ
shayin
thing
مُّقۡتَدِرًا
muq'tadiran
(is) All Able
٤٥
