۞لَّيۡسَ

It is not
ٱلۡبِرَّ
birra
[the] righteousness
أَن
ʹañ
that
تُوَلُّواْ
tuwalloo
you turn
وُجُوهَكُمۡ
wujoohakum
your faces
قِبَلَ
q̣ibalal
towards
ٱلۡمَشۡرِقِ
Mashriq̣i
the east
وَٱلۡمَغۡرِبِ
wal-Mag̣ribi
and the west
وَلَٰكِنَّ
wa-laakinnal
[and] but
ٱلۡبِرَّ
birra
the righteous[ness]
مَنۡ
man
(is he) who
ءَامَنَ
ʹaamana
believes
بِٱللَّهِ
billaahi
in Allah
وَٱلۡيَوۡمِ
wal-Yawmil
and the Day
ٱلۡأٓخِرِ
ʹAakhiri
[the] Last
وَٱلۡمَلَٰٓئِكَةِ
wal-malaaaʹikati
and the Angels
وَٱلۡكِتَٰبِ
wal-Kitaabi
and the Book
وَٱلنَّبِيِّـۧنَ
wan-nabiyyeen:
and the Prophets
وَءَاتَى
wa-ʹaatal
and gives
ٱلۡمَالَ
maala
the wealth
عَلَىٰ
ʻalaa
in
حُبِّهِۦ
ḥubbihee
spite of his love (for it)
ذَوِي
ẓawil
(to) those
ٱلۡقُرۡبَىٰ
q̣urbaa
(of) the near relatives
وَٱلۡيَتَٰمَىٰ
walyataamaa
and the orphans
وَٱلۡمَسَٰكِينَ
walmasaakeena
and the needy
وَٱبۡنَ
wabnas
and (of)
ٱلسَّبِيلِ
sabeeli
the wayfarer
وَٱلسَّآئِلِينَ
wassaaaʹileena
and those who ask
وَفِي
wa-fir
and in
ٱلرِّقَابِ
riq̣aab:
freeing the necks (slaves)
وَأَقَامَ
wa-ʹaq̣aamaṣ
and (who) establish
ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ
Ṣalaata
the prayer
وَءَاتَى
wa-ʹaataz
and give
ٱلزَّكَوٰةَ
Zakaah;
the zakah
وَٱلۡمُوفُونَ
walmoofoona
and those who fulfill
بِعَهۡدِهِمۡ
biʻahdihim
their covenant
إِذَا
iẓaa
when
عَٰهَدُواْۖ
ʻaahadoo;
they make it
وَٱلصَّٰبِرِينَ
waṣ-Ṣaabireena
and those who are patient
فِي
fil
in
ٱلۡبَأۡسَآءِ
baʹsaaaʹi
[the] suffering
وَٱلضَّرَّآءِ
waḍḍarraaaʹi
and [the] hardship
وَحِينَ
waḥeenal
and (the) time
ٱلۡبَأۡسِۗ
baʹas.
(of) [the] stress
أُوْلَٰٓئِكَ
ʹUlaaaʹikal
Those
ٱلَّذِينَ
laẓeena
(are) the ones who
صَدَقُواْۖ
ṣadaq̣oo:
are true
وَأُوْلَٰٓئِكَ
wa-ʹulaaaʹika
and those
هُمُ
humul
[they]
ٱلۡمُتَّقُونَ
Muttaq̣oon.
(are) the righteous
١٧٧
2:178
يَٰٓأَيُّهَا
Yaaaʹayyuhal
O you
ٱلَّذِينَ
laẓeena
who
ءَامَنُواْ
ʹaamanoo
believe[d]
كُتِبَ
kutiba
Prescribed
عَلَيۡكُمُ
ʻalaykumul
for you
ٱلۡقِصَاصُ
Q̣iṣaaṣu
(is) the legal retribution
فِي
fil
in
ٱلۡقَتۡلَىۖ
q̣atlaa:
(the matter of) the murdered
ٱلۡحُرُّ
ʹalḥurru
the freeman
بِٱلۡحُرِّ
bilḥurri
for the freeman
وَٱلۡعَبۡدُ
walʻabdu
and the slave
بِٱلۡعَبۡدِ
bilʻabdi
for the slave
وَٱلۡأُنثَىٰ
wal-ʹuñs̤aa
and the female
بِٱلۡأُنثَىٰۚ
bil-ʹuñs̤aa.
for the female
فَمَنۡ
Faman
But whoever
عُفِيَ
ʻufiya
is pardoned
لَهُۥ
lahoo
[for it]
مِنۡ
min
from
أَخِيهِ
ʹakheehi
his brother
شَيۡءٞ
shayʹuñ
anything
فَٱتِّبَاعُۢ
fattibaaʻum
then follows up
بِٱلۡمَعۡرُوفِ
bilmaʻroofi
with suitable
وَأَدَآءٌ
wa-ʹadaaaʹun
[and] payment
إِلَيۡهِ
ʹilayhi
to him
بِإِحۡسَٰنٖۗ
biʹiḥsaan.
with kindness
ذَٰلِكَ
Ẓaalika
That (is)
تَخۡفِيفٞ
takhfeefum
a concession
مِّن
mir
from
رَّبِّكُمۡ
Rabbikum
your Lord
وَرَحۡمَةٞۗ
wa-raḥmah.
and mercy
فَمَنِ
Famaniʻ
Then whoever
ٱعۡتَدَىٰ
tadaa
transgresses
بَعۡدَ
baʻda
after
ذَٰلِكَ
ẓaalika
that
فَلَهُۥ
falahoo
then for him
عَذَابٌ
ʻaẓaabun
(is) a punishment
أَلِيمٞ
ʹaleem.
painful
١٧٨
2:179
وَلَكُمۡ
Wa-lakum
And for you
فِي
fil
in
ٱلۡقِصَاصِ
Q̣iṣaaṣi
the legal retribution
حَيَوٰةٞ
Ḥayaatuñy
(is) life
يَٰٓأُوْلِي
yaaaʹulil
O men
ٱلۡأَلۡبَٰبِ
ʹalbaabi
(of) understanding
لَعَلَّكُمۡ
laʻallakum
So that you may
تَتَّقُونَ
tattaq̣oon.
(become) righteous
١٧٩
2:180
كُتِبَ
Kutiba
Prescribed
عَلَيۡكُمۡ
ʻalaykum
for you
إِذَا
ʹiẓaa
when
حَضَرَ
ḥaḍara
approaches
أَحَدَكُمُ
ʹaḥadakumul
any of you
ٱلۡمَوۡتُ
mawtu
[the] death
إِن
ʹiñ
if
تَرَكَ
taraka
he leaves
خَيۡرًا
khayranil
good
ٱلۡوَصِيَّةُ
waṣiyyatu
(making) the will
لِلۡوَٰلِدَيۡنِ
lilwaalidayni
for the parents
وَٱلۡأَقۡرَبِينَ
wal-ʹaq̣rabeena
and the near relatives
بِٱلۡمَعۡرُوفِۖ
bil-maʻroof;
with due fairness
حَقًّا
ḥaq̣q̣an
a duty
عَلَى
ʻalal
on
ٱلۡمُتَّقِينَ
Muttaq̣een.
the righteous ones
١٨٠
2:181
فَمَنۢ
Famam
Then whoever
بَدَّلَهُۥ
baddalahoo
changes it
بَعۡدَ مَا
baʻdamaa
after what
سَمِعَهُۥ
samiʻahoo
he (has) heard [it]
فَإِنَّمَآ
faʹinnamaaa
so only
إِثۡمُهُۥ
ʹis̤muhoo
its sin
عَلَى
ʻalal
(would be) on
ٱلَّذِينَ
laẓeena
those who
يُبَدِّلُونَهُۥٓۚ
yubaddiloonah.
alter it
إِنَّ
ʹInnal
Indeed
ٱللَّهَ
laaha
Allah
سَمِيعٌ
Sameeʻun
(is) All-Hearing
عَلِيمٞ
ʻAleem.
All-Knowing
