حُرِّمَتۡ
Ḥurrimat
Are made unlawful
عَلَيۡكُمُ
ʻalaykumul
on you
ٱلۡمَيۡتَةُ
may-tatu
the dead animals
وَٱلدَّمُ
waddamu
and the blood
وَلَحۡمُ
wa-laḥmul
and flesh
ٱلۡخِنزِيرِ
khiñzeeri
(of) the swine
وَمَآ
wa-maaa
and what
أُهِلَّ
ʹuhilla
has been dedicated
لِغَيۡرِ
lig̣ayril
to other than
ٱللَّهِ
laahi
Allah
بِهِۦ
bihee
[on it]
وَٱلۡمُنۡخَنِقَةُ
walmunkhaniq̣atu
and that which is strangled (to death)
وَٱلۡمَوۡقُوذَةُ
wal-mawq̣ooẓatu
and that which is hit fatally
وَٱلۡمُتَرَدِّيَةُ
wal-mutarad-diyatu
and that which has a fatal fall
وَٱلنَّطِيحَةُ
wan-naṭeeḥatu
and that which is gored by horns
وَمَآ
wa-maaa
and that which
أَكَلَ
ʹakalas
ate (it)
ٱلسَّبُعُ
sabuʻu
the wild animal
إِلَّا
ʹillaa
except
مَا
maa-
what
ذَكَّيۡتُمۡ
ẓakkaytum;
you slaughtered
وَمَا
wa-maa
and what
ذُبِحَ
ẓubiḥa
is sacrificed
عَلَى
ʻalan
on
ٱلنُّصُبِ
nuṣubi
the stone altars
وَأَن
wa-ʹañ
and that
تَسۡتَقۡسِمُواْ
tastaq̣simoo
you seek division
بِٱلۡأَزۡلَٰمِۚ
bil-ʹazlaam:
by divining arrows
ذَٰلِكُمۡ
ẓaalikum
that
فِسۡقٌۗ
fisq̣.
(is) grave disobedience
ٱلۡيَوۡمَ
ʹAlyawma
This day
يَئِسَ
yaʹisal
(have) despaired
ٱلَّذِينَ
laẓeena
those who
كَفَرُواْ
kafaroo
disbelieved
مِن
miñ
of
دِينِكُمۡ
deenikum
your religion
فَلَا
falaa
so (do) not
تَخۡشَوۡهُمۡ
takhshawhum
fear them
وَٱخۡشَوۡنِۚ
wakhshawn.
but fear Me
ٱلۡيَوۡمَ
ʹAlyawma
This day
أَكۡمَلۡتُ
ʹakmaltu
I have perfected
لَكُمۡ
lakum
for you
دِينَكُمۡ
Deenakum
your religion
وَأَتۡمَمۡتُ
wa-ʹatmamtu
and I have completed
عَلَيۡكُمۡ
ʹalaykum
upon you
نِعۡمَتِي
niʻmatee
My Favor
وَرَضِيتُ
wa-raḍeetu
and I have approved
لَكُمُ
lakumul
for you
ٱلۡإِسۡلَٰمَ
ʹISLAAMA
[the] Islam
دِينٗاۚ
Deenaa.
(as) a religion
فَمَنِ
Famaniḍ
But whoever
ٱضۡطُرَّ
ṭurra
(is) forced
فِي
fee
by
مَخۡمَصَةٍ
makhmaṣatin
hunger
غَيۡرَ
g̣ayra
(and) not
مُتَجَانِفٖ
mutajaanifil
inclining
لِّإِثۡمٖ
liʹis̤miñ
to sin
فَإِنَّ
faʹinnal
then indeed
ٱللَّهَ
laaha
Allah
غَفُورٞ
G̣afoorur
(is) Oft-Forgiving
رَّحِيمٞ
Raḥeem.
Most Merciful
٣
5:4
يَسۡـَٔلُونَكَ
Yas-ʹaloonaka
They ask you
مَاذَآ
maaẓaaa
what
أُحِلَّ
ʹuḥilla
(is) made lawful
لَهُمۡۖ
lahum.
for them
قُلۡ
Q̣ul
Say
أُحِلَّ
ʹuḥilla
Are made lawful
لَكُمُ
lakumuṭ
for you
ٱلطَّيِّبَٰتُ
ṭayyibaatu
the good things
وَمَا
wa-maa
and what
عَلَّمۡتُم
ʻallamtum
you have taught
مِّنَ
minal
of
ٱلۡجَوَارِحِ
jawaariḥi
(your) hunting animals
مُكَلِّبِينَ
mukal-libeena
ones who train animals to hunt
تُعَلِّمُونَهُنَّ
tuʻallimoonahunna
you teach them
مِمَّا
mimmaa
of what
عَلَّمَكُمُ
ʻallamakumul
has taught you
ٱللَّهُۖ
laah:
Allah
فَكُلُواْ
fakuloo
So eat
مِمَّآ
mimmaaa
of what
أَمۡسَكۡنَ
ʹamsakna
they catch
عَلَيۡكُمۡ
ʻalaykum
for you
وَٱذۡكُرُواْ
waẓkurus
but mention
ٱسۡمَ
mal
(the) name
ٱللَّهِ
laahi
(of) Allah
عَلَيۡهِۖ
ʻalayh:
on it
وَٱتَّقُواْ
wattaq̣ul
and fear
ٱللَّهَۚ
laah;
Allah
إِنَّ
ʹinnal
Indeed
ٱللَّهَ
laaha
Allah
سَرِيعُ
Sareeʻul
is swift
ٱلۡحِسَابِ
Ḥisaab.
(in taking) account
٤
5:5
ٱلۡيَوۡمَ
ʹAlyawma
This day
أُحِلَّ
ʹuḥhilla
are made lawful
لَكُمُ
lakumuṭ
for you
ٱلطَّيِّبَٰتُۖ
ṭayyibaat.
the good things
وَطَعَامُ
Wa-ṭaʻaamul
and (the) food
ٱلَّذِينَ
laẓeena
(of) those who
أُوتُواْ
ʹootul
were given
ٱلۡكِتَٰبَ
Kitaaba
the Book
حِلّٞ
ḥillul
(is) lawful
لَّكُمۡ
lakum,
for you
وَطَعَامُكُمۡ
wa-ṭaʻaamukum
and your food
حِلّٞ
ḥillul
(is) lawful
لَّهُمۡۖ
lahum.
for them
وَٱلۡمُحۡصَنَٰتُ
Wal-muḥṣanaatu
And the chaste women
مِنَ
minal
from
ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنَٰتِ
muʹminaati
the believers
وَٱلۡمُحۡصَنَٰتُ
wal-muḥṣanaatu
and the chaste women
مِنَ
minal
from
ٱلَّذِينَ
laẓeena
those who
أُوتُواْ
ʹootul
were given
ٱلۡكِتَٰبَ
Kitaaba
the Book
مِن
miñ
from
قَبۡلِكُمۡ
q̣ablikum
before you
إِذَآ
ʹiẓaaa
when
ءَاتَيۡتُمُوهُنَّ
ʹaataytumoohunna
you have given them
أُجُورَهُنَّ
ʹujoorahunna
their bridal due
مُحۡصِنِينَ
muḥṣineena
being chaste
غَيۡرَ
g̣ayra
not
مُسَٰفِحِينَ
musaafiḥeena
being lewd
وَلَا
wa-laa
and not
مُتَّخِذِيٓ
muttakhiẓeee
ones (who are) taking
أَخۡدَانٖۗ
ʹakhdaan.
secret lovers
وَمَن
Wa-mañy
And whoever
يَكۡفُرۡ
yakfur
denies
بِٱلۡإِيمَٰنِ
bil-ʹeemaani
the faith
فَقَدۡ
faq̣ad
then surely
حَبِطَ
ḥabiṭa
(are) wasted
عَمَلُهُۥ
ʻamaluhoo
his deeds
وَهُوَ
wa-huwa
and he
فِي
fil
in
ٱلۡأٓخِرَةِ
ʹAakhirati
the Hereafter
مِنَ
minal
(will be) among
ٱلۡخَٰسِرِينَ
khaasireen.
the losers
