Freedom from obligations
مِّنَ
mina

ٱللَّهِ
al-lahi
Allah
وَرَسُولِهِۦٓ
warasulihi
and His Messenger
إِلَى
ila
to
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhina
those (with) whom
عَٰهَدتُّم
ahadttum
you made a covenant
مِّنَ
mina
from
ٱلۡمُشۡرِكِينَ
al-mush'rikina
the polytheists
١
9:2
فَسِيحُواْ
fasihu
So move about
فِي
fi
in
ٱلۡأَرۡضِ
al-ardi
the land
أَرۡبَعَةَ
arba'ata
(during) four
أَشۡهُرٖ
ashhurin
months
وَٱعۡلَمُوٓاْ
wa-i'lamu
but know
أَنَّكُمۡ
annakum
that you
غَيۡرُ
ghayru
(can) not
مُعۡجِزِي
mu'jizi
escape
ٱللَّهِ
al-lahi
Allah
وَأَنَّ
wa-anna
and that
ٱللَّهَ
al-laha
Allah
مُخۡزِي
mukh'zi
(is) the One Who (will) disgrace
ٱلۡكَٰفِرِينَ
al-kafirina
the disbelievers
٢
9:3
وَأَذَٰنٞ
wa-adhanun
And an announcement
مِّنَ
mina
from Allah
ٱللَّهِ
al-lahi
from Allah
وَرَسُولِهِۦٓ
warasulihi
and His Messenger
إِلَى
ila
to
ٱلنَّاسِ
al-nasi
the people
يَوۡمَ
yawma
(on the) day
ٱلۡحَجِّ
al-haji
(of) the greater Pilgrimage
ٱلۡأَكۡبَرِ
al-akbari
(of) the greater Pilgrimage
أَنَّ
anna
that
ٱللَّهَ
al-laha
Allah
بَرِيٓءٞ
barion
(is) free from obligations
مِّنَ
mina
[of]
ٱلۡمُشۡرِكِينَ
al-mush'rikina
(to) the polytheists
وَرَسُولُهُۥۚ
warasuluhu
and (so is) His Messenger
فَإِن
fa-in
So if
تُبۡتُمۡ
tub'tum
you repent
فَهُوَ
fahuwa
then it is
خَيۡرٞ
khayrun
best
لَّكُمۡۖ
lakum
for you
وَإِن
wa-in
But if
تَوَلَّيۡتُمۡ
tawallaytum
you turn away
فَٱعۡلَمُوٓاْ
fa-i'lamu
then know
أَنَّكُمۡ
annakum
that you
غَيۡرُ
ghayru
(can) not
مُعۡجِزِي
mu'jizi
escape
ٱللَّهِۗ
al-lahi
Allah
وَبَشِّرِ
wabashiri
And give glad tidings
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhina
(to) those who
كَفَرُواْ
kafaru
disbelieve
بِعَذَابٍ
bi'adhabin
of a punishment
أَلِيمٍ
alimin
painful
٣
9:4
إِلَّا
illa
Except
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhina
those (with) whom
عَٰهَدتُّم
ahadttum
you have a covenant
مِّنَ
mina
among
ٱلۡمُشۡرِكِينَ
al-mush'rikina
the polytheists
ثُمَّ
thumma
then
لَمۡ
lam
not
يَنقُصُوكُمۡ
yanqusukum
they have failed you
شَيۡـٔٗا
shayan
(in any) thing
وَلَمۡ
walam
and not
يُظَٰهِرُواْ
yuzahiru
they have supported
عَلَيۡكُمۡ
alaykum
against you
أَحَدٗا
ahadan
anyone
فَأَتِمُّوٓاْ
fa-atimmu
so fulfil
إِلَيۡهِمۡ
ilayhim
to them
عَهۡدَهُمۡ
ahdahum
their treaty
إِلَىٰ
ila
till
مُدَّتِهِمۡۚ
muddatihim
their term
إِنَّ
inna
Indeed
ٱللَّهَ
al-laha
Allah
يُحِبُّ
yuhibbu
loves
ٱلۡمُتَّقِينَ
al-mutaqina
the righteous
٤
9:5
فَإِذَا
fa-idha
Then when
ٱنسَلَخَ
insalakha
have passed
ٱلۡأَشۡهُرُ
al-ashhuru
the sacred months
ٱلۡحُرُمُ
al-hurumu
the sacred months
فَٱقۡتُلُواْ
fa-uq'tulu
then kill
ٱلۡمُشۡرِكِينَ
al-mush'rikina
the polytheists
حَيۡثُ
haythu
wherever
وَجَدتُّمُوهُمۡ
wajadttumuhum
you find them
وَخُذُوهُمۡ
wakhudhuhum
and seize them
وَٱحۡصُرُوهُمۡ
wa-uh'suruhum
and besiege them
وَٱقۡعُدُواْ
wa-uq'udu
and sit (in wait)
لَهُمۡ
lahum
for them
كُلَّ
kulla
(at) every
مَرۡصَدٖۚ
marsadin
place of ambush
فَإِن
fa-in
But if
تَابُواْ
tabu
they repent
وَأَقَامُواْ
wa-aqamu
and establish
ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ
al-salata
the prayer
وَءَاتَوُاْ
waatawu
and give
ٱلزَّكَوٰةَ
al-zakata
the zakah
فَخَلُّواْ
fakhallu
then leave
سَبِيلَهُمۡۚ
sabilahum
their way
إِنَّ
inna
Indeed
ٱللَّهَ
al-laha
Allah
غَفُورٞ
ghafurun
(is) Oft-Forgiving
رَّحِيمٞ
rahimun
Most Merciful
٥
9:6
وَإِنۡ
wa-in
And if
أَحَدٞ
ahadun
anyone
مِّنَ
mina
of
ٱلۡمُشۡرِكِينَ
al-mush'rikina
the polytheists
ٱسۡتَجَارَكَ
is'tajaraka
seek your protection
فَأَجِرۡهُ
fa-ajir'hu
then grant him protection
حَتَّىٰ
hatta
until
يَسۡمَعَ
yasma'a
he hears
كَلَٰمَ
kalama
(the) Words of Allah
ٱللَّهِ
al-lahi
(the) Words of Allah
ثُمَّ
thumma
Then
أَبۡلِغۡهُ
abligh'hu
escort him
مَأۡمَنَهُۥۚ
mamanahu
(to) his place of safety
ذَٰلِكَ
dhalika
That
بِأَنَّهُمۡ
bi-annahum
(is) because they
قَوۡمٞ
qawmun
(are) a people
لَّا
la
(who) do not know
يَعۡلَمُونَ
ya'lamuna
(who) do not know

كَيۡفَ
kayfa
How
يَكُونُ
yakunu
can (there) be
لِلۡمُشۡرِكِينَ
lil'mush'rikina
for the polytheists
عَهۡدٌ
ahdun
a covenant
عِندَ
inda
with
ٱللَّهِ
al-lahi
Allah
وَعِندَ
wa'inda
and with
رَسُولِهِۦٓ
rasulihi
His Messenger
إِلَّا
illa
except
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhina
those (with) whom
عَٰهَدتُّمۡ
ahadttum
you made a covenant
عِندَ
inda
near
ٱلۡمَسۡجِدِ
al-masjidi
Al-Masjid
ٱلۡحَرَامِۖ
al-harami
Al-Haraam
فَمَا
fama
So long as
ٱسۡتَقَٰمُواْ
is'taqamu
they are upright
لَكُمۡ
lakum
to you
فَٱسۡتَقِيمُواْ
fa-is'taqimu
then you be upright
لَهُمۡۚ
lahum
to them
إِنَّ
inna
Indeed
ٱللَّهَ
al-laha
Allah
يُحِبُّ
yuhibbu
loves
ٱلۡمُتَّقِينَ
al-mutaqina
the righteous
٧
9:8
كَيۡفَ
kayfa
How
وَإِن
wa-in
while if
يَظۡهَرُواْ
yazharu
they gain dominance
عَلَيۡكُمۡ
alaykum
over you
لَا
la
they do not regard (the ties)
يَرۡقُبُواْ
yarqubu
they do not regard (the ties)
فِيكُمۡ
fikum
with you
إِلّٗا
illan
(of) kinship
وَلَا
wala
and not
ذِمَّةٗۚ
dhimmatan
covenant of protection
يُرۡضُونَكُم
yur'dunakum
They satisfy you
بِأَفۡوَٰهِهِمۡ
bi-afwahihim
with their mouths
وَتَأۡبَىٰ
wataba
but refuse
قُلُوبُهُمۡ
qulubuhum
their hearts
وَأَكۡثَرُهُمۡ
wa-aktharuhum
and most of them
فَٰسِقُونَ
fasiquna
(are) defiantly disobedient
٨
9:9
ٱشۡتَرَوۡاْ
ish'taraw
They exchange
بِـَٔايَٰتِ
biayati
[with] the Verses of Allah
ٱللَّهِ
al-lahi
[with] the Verses of Allah
ثَمَنٗا
thamanan
(for) a little price
قَلِيلٗا
qalilan
(for) a little price
فَصَدُّواْ
fasaddu
and they hinder (people)
عَن
an
from
سَبِيلِهِۦٓۚ
sabilihi
His way
إِنَّهُمۡ
innahum
Indeed
سَآءَ
saa
evil
مَا
ma
(is) what
كَانُواْ
kanu
they used to
يَعۡمَلُونَ
ya'maluna
do
٩
9:10
لَا
la
Not
يَرۡقُبُونَ
yarqubuna
they respect (the ties)
فِي
fi
towards
مُؤۡمِنٍ
mu'minin
a believer
إِلّٗا
illan
(of) kinship
وَلَا
wala
and not
ذِمَّةٗۚ
dhimmatan
covenant of protection
وَأُوْلَٰٓئِكَ
wa-ulaika
And those
هُمُ
humu
[they]
ٱلۡمُعۡتَدُونَ
al-mu'taduna
(are) the transgressors
١٠
9:11
فَإِن
fa-in
But if
تَابُواْ
tabu
they repent
وَأَقَامُواْ
wa-aqamu
and establish
ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ
al-salata
the prayer
وَءَاتَوُاْ
waatawu
and give
ٱلزَّكَوٰةَ
al-zakata
the zakah
فَإِخۡوَٰنُكُمۡ
fa-ikh'wanukum
then (they are) your brothers
فِي
fi
in
ٱلدِّينِۗ
al-dini
[the] religion
وَنُفَصِّلُ
wanufassilu
And We explain in detail
ٱلۡأٓيَٰتِ
al-ayati
the Verses
لِقَوۡمٖ
liqawmin
for a people
يَعۡلَمُونَ
ya'lamuna
(who) know
١١
9:12
وَإِن
wa-in
And if
نَّكَثُوٓاْ
nakathu
they break
أَيۡمَٰنَهُم
aymanahum
their oaths
مِّنۢ
min
after
بَعۡدِ
ba'di
after
عَهۡدِهِمۡ
ahdihim
their treaty
وَطَعَنُواْ
wata'anu
and defame
فِي
fi
[in]
دِينِكُمۡ
dinikum
your religion
فَقَٰتِلُوٓاْ
faqatilu
then fight
أَئِمَّةَ
a-immata
the leaders
ٱلۡكُفۡرِ
al-kuf'ri
(of) [the] disbelief
إِنَّهُمۡ
innahum
indeed they
لَآ
la
no
أَيۡمَٰنَ
aymana
oaths
لَهُمۡ
lahum
for them
لَعَلَّهُمۡ
la'allahum
so that they may
يَنتَهُونَ
yantahuna
cease
١٢
9:13
أَلَا
ala
Will not
تُقَٰتِلُونَ
tuqatiluna
you fight
قَوۡمٗا
qawman
a people
نَّكَثُوٓاْ
nakathu
who broke
أَيۡمَٰنَهُمۡ
aymanahum
their oaths
وَهَمُّواْ
wahammu
and determined
بِإِخۡرَاجِ
bi-ikh'raji
to drive out
ٱلرَّسُولِ
al-rasuli
the Messenger
وَهُم
wahum
and they
بَدَءُوكُمۡ
badaukum
began (to attack) you
أَوَّلَ
awwala
first
مَرَّةٍۚ
marratin
time
أَتَخۡشَوۡنَهُمۡۚ
atakhshawnahum
Do you fear them
فَٱللَّهُ
fal-lahu
But Allah
أَحَقُّ
ahaqqu
(has) more right
أَن
an
that
تَخۡشَوۡهُ
takhshawhu
you should fear Him
إِن
in
if
كُنتُم
kuntum
you are
مُّؤۡمِنِينَ
mu'minina
believers
١٣

9:14
قَٰتِلُوهُمۡ
qatiluhum
Fight them
يُعَذِّبۡهُمُ
yu'adhib'humu
Allah will punish them
ٱللَّهُ
al-lahu
Allah will punish them
بِأَيۡدِيكُمۡ
bi-aydikum
by your hands
وَيُخۡزِهِمۡ
wayukh'zihim
and disgrace them
وَيَنصُرۡكُمۡ
wayansur'kum
and give you victory
عَلَيۡهِمۡ
alayhim
over them
وَيَشۡفِ
wayashfi
and will heal
صُدُورَ
sudura
(the) breasts
قَوۡمٖ
qawmin
(of) a people
مُّؤۡمِنِينَ
mu'minina
(who are) believers
١٤
9:15
وَيُذۡهِبۡ
wayudh'hib
And remove
غَيۡظَ
ghayza
(the) anger
قُلُوبِهِمۡۗ
qulubihim
(of) their hearts
وَيَتُوبُ
wayatubu
And Allah accepts repentance
ٱللَّهُ
al-lahu
And Allah accepts repentance
عَلَىٰ
ala
of
مَن
man
whom
يَشَآءُۗ
yashau
He wills
وَٱللَّهُ
wal-lahu
And Allah
عَلِيمٌ
alimun
(is) All-Knower
حَكِيمٌ
hakimun
All-Wise
١٥
9:16
أَمۡ
am
Or
حَسِبۡتُمۡ
hasib'tum
(do) you think
أَن
an
that
تُتۡرَكُواْ
tut'raku
you would be left
وَلَمَّا
walamma
while not
يَعۡلَمِ
ya'lami
Allah made evident
ٱللَّهُ
al-lahu
Allah made evident
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhina
those who
جَٰهَدُواْ
jahadu
strive
مِنكُمۡ
minkum
among you
وَلَمۡ
walam
and not
يَتَّخِذُواْ
yattakhidhu
take
مِن
min
besides Allah
دُونِ
duni
besides Allah
ٱللَّهِ
al-lahi
besides Allah
وَلَا
wala
and not
رَسُولِهِۦ
rasulihi
His Messenger
وَلَا
wala
and not
ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِينَ
al-mu'minina
the believers
وَلِيجَةٗۚ
walijatan
(as) intimates
وَٱللَّهُ
wal-lahu
And Allah
خَبِيرُۢ
khabirun
(is) All-Aware
بِمَا
bima
of what
تَعۡمَلُونَ
ta'maluna
you do
١٦
9:17
مَا
ma
(It) is not
كَانَ
kana
(It) is not
لِلۡمُشۡرِكِينَ
lil'mush'rikina
for the polytheists
أَن
an
that
يَعۡمُرُواْ
ya'muru
they maintain
مَسَٰجِدَ
masajida
(the) masajid of Allah
ٱللَّهِ
al-lahi
(the) masajid of Allah
شَٰهِدِينَ
shahidina
(while) witnessing
عَلَىٰٓ
ala
against
أَنفُسِهِم
anfusihim
themselves
بِٱلۡكُفۡرِۚ
bil-kuf'ri
[with] disbelief
أُوْلَٰٓئِكَ
ulaika
(For) those
حَبِطَتۡ
habitat
worthless
أَعۡمَٰلُهُمۡ
a'maluhum
(are) their deeds
وَفِي
wafi
and in
ٱلنَّارِ
al-nari
the Fire
هُمۡ
hum
they
خَٰلِدُونَ
khaliduna
(will) abide forever
١٧
9:18
إِنَّمَا
innama
Only
يَعۡمُرُ
ya'muru
will maintain
مَسَٰجِدَ
masajida
(the) masajid of Allah
ٱللَّهِ
al-lahi
(the) masajid of Allah
مَنۡ
man
(the one) who
ءَامَنَ
amana
believes
بِٱللَّهِ
bil-lahi
in Allah
وَٱلۡيَوۡمِ
wal-yawmi
and the Day
ٱلۡأٓخِرِ
al-akhiri
the Last
وَأَقَامَ
wa-aqama
and establishes
ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ
al-salata
the prayer
وَءَاتَى
waata
and gives
ٱلزَّكَوٰةَ
al-zakata
the zakah
وَلَمۡ
walam
and not
يَخۡشَ
yakhsha
fear
إِلَّا
illa
except
ٱللَّهَۖ
al-laha
Allah
فَعَسَىٰٓ
fa'asa
Then perhaps
أُوْلَٰٓئِكَ
ulaika
those
أَن
an
[that]
يَكُونُواْ
yakunu
they are
مِنَ
mina
of
ٱلۡمُهۡتَدِينَ
al-muh'tadina
the guided ones
١٨
9:19
۞أَجَعَلۡتُمۡ
aja'altum
Do you make
سِقَايَةَ
siqayata
the providing of water
ٱلۡحَآجِّ
al-haji
(to) the pilgrims
وَعِمَارَةَ
wa'imarata
and (the) maintenance
ٱلۡمَسۡجِدِ
al-masjidi
(of) Al-Masjid Al-Haraam
ٱلۡحَرَامِ
al-harami
(of) Al-Masjid Al-Haraam
كَمَنۡ
kaman
like (the one) who
ءَامَنَ
amana
believes
بِٱللَّهِ
bil-lahi
in Allah
وَٱلۡيَوۡمِ
wal-yawmi
and the Day
ٱلۡأٓخِرِ
al-akhiri
the Last
وَجَٰهَدَ
wajahada
and strives
فِي
fi
in
سَبِيلِ
sabili
(the) way
ٱللَّهِۚ
al-lahi
(of) Allah
لَا
la
They are not equal
يَسۡتَوُۥنَ
yastawuna
They are not equal
عِندَ
inda
near
ٱللَّهِۗ
al-lahi
Allah
وَٱللَّهُ
wal-lahu
And Allah
لَا
la
(does) not
يَهۡدِي
yahdi
guide
ٱلۡقَوۡمَ
al-qawma
the people
ٱلظَّٰلِمِينَ
al-zalimina
the wrongdoers
١٩
9:20
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhina
Those who
ءَامَنُواْ
amanu
believed
وَهَاجَرُواْ
wahajaru
and emigrated
وَجَٰهَدُواْ
wajahadu
and strove
فِي
fi
in
سَبِيلِ
sabili
(the) way
ٱللَّهِ
al-lahi
(of) Allah
بِأَمۡوَٰلِهِمۡ
bi-amwalihim
with their wealth
وَأَنفُسِهِمۡ
wa-anfusihim
and their lives
أَعۡظَمُ
a'zamu
(are) greater
دَرَجَةً
darajatan
(in) rank
عِندَ
inda
near
ٱللَّهِۚ
al-lahi
Allah
وَأُوْلَٰٓئِكَ
wa-ulaika
And those
هُمُ
humu
they
ٱلۡفَآئِزُونَ
al-faizuna
(are) the successful
٢٠

يُبَشِّرُهُمۡ
yubashiruhum
Their Lord gives them glad tidings
رَبُّهُم
rabbuhum
Their Lord gives them glad tidings
بِرَحۡمَةٖ
birahmatin
of Mercy
مِّنۡهُ
min'hu
from Him
وَرِضۡوَٰنٖ
warid'wanin
and Pleasure
وَجَنَّٰتٖ
wajannatin
and Gardens
لَّهُمۡ
lahum
for them
فِيهَا
fiha
in it
نَعِيمٞ
na'imun
(is) bliss
مُّقِيمٌ
muqimun
enduring
٢١
9:22
خَٰلِدِينَ
khalidina
(They will) abide
فِيهَآ
fiha
in it
أَبَدًاۚ
abadan
forever
إِنَّ
inna
Indeed
ٱللَّهَ
al-laha
Allah
عِندَهُۥٓ
indahu
with Him
أَجۡرٌ
ajrun
(is) a reward
عَظِيمٞ
azimun
great
٢٢
9:23
يَٰٓأَيُّهَا
yaayyuha
O you
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhina
who
ءَامَنُواْ
amanu
believe
لَا
la
(Do) not
تَتَّخِذُوٓاْ
tattakhidhu
take
ءَابَآءَكُمۡ
abaakum
your fathers
وَإِخۡوَٰنَكُمۡ
wa-ikh'wanakum
and your brothers
أَوۡلِيَآءَ
awliyaa
(as) allies
إِنِ
ini
if
ٱسۡتَحَبُّواْ
is'tahabbu
they prefer
ٱلۡكُفۡرَ
al-kuf'ra
[the] disbelief
عَلَى
ala
over
ٱلۡإِيمَٰنِۚ
al-imani
[the] belief
وَمَن
waman
And whoever
يَتَوَلَّهُم
yatawallahum
takes them as allies
مِّنكُمۡ
minkum
among you
فَأُوْلَٰٓئِكَ
fa-ulaika
then those
هُمُ
humu
[they]
ٱلظَّٰلِمُونَ
al-zalimuna
(are) the wrongdoers
٢٣
9:24
قُلۡ
qul
Say
إِن
in
If
كَانَ
kana
are
ءَابَآؤُكُمۡ
abaukum
your fathers
وَأَبۡنَآؤُكُمۡ
wa-abnaukum
and your sons
وَإِخۡوَٰنُكُمۡ
wa-ikh'wanukum
and your brothers
وَأَزۡوَٰجُكُمۡ
wa-azwajukum
and your spouses
وَعَشِيرَتُكُمۡ
wa'ashiratukum
and your relatives
وَأَمۡوَٰلٌ
wa-amwalun
and wealth
ٱقۡتَرَفۡتُمُوهَا
iq'taraftumuha
that you have acquired
وَتِجَٰرَةٞ
watijaratun
and the commerce
تَخۡشَوۡنَ
takhshawna
you fear
كَسَادَهَا
kasadaha
a decline (in) it
وَمَسَٰكِنُ
wamasakinu
and the dwellings
تَرۡضَوۡنَهَآ
tardawnaha
you delight (in) it
أَحَبَّ
ahabba
(are) more beloved
إِلَيۡكُم
ilaykum
to you
مِّنَ
mina
than
ٱللَّهِ
al-lahi
Allah
وَرَسُولِهِۦ
warasulihi
and His Messenger
وَجِهَادٖ
wajihadin
and striving
فِي
fi
in
سَبِيلِهِۦ
sabilihi
His way
فَتَرَبَّصُواْ
fatarabbasu
then wait
حَتَّىٰ
hatta
until
يَأۡتِيَ
yatiya
Allah brings
ٱللَّهُ
al-lahu
Allah brings
بِأَمۡرِهِۦۗ
bi-amrihi
His Command
وَٱللَّهُ
wal-lahu
And Allah
لَا
la
(does) not
يَهۡدِي
yahdi
guide
ٱلۡقَوۡمَ
al-qawma
the people
ٱلۡفَٰسِقِينَ
al-fasiqina
the defiantly disobedient
٢٤
9:25
لَقَدۡ
laqad
Verily
نَصَرَكُمُ
nasarakumu
Allah helped you
ٱللَّهُ
al-lahu
Allah helped you
فِي
fi
in
مَوَاطِنَ
mawatina
regions
كَثِيرَةٖ
kathiratin
many
وَيَوۡمَ
wayawma
and (on the) day
حُنَيۡنٍ
hunaynin
(of) Hunain
إِذۡ
idh
when
أَعۡجَبَتۡكُمۡ
a'jabatkum
pleased you
كَثۡرَتُكُمۡ
kathratukum
your multitude
فَلَمۡ
falam
but not
تُغۡنِ
tugh'ni
availed
عَنكُمۡ
ankum
you
شَيۡـٔٗا
shayan
anything
وَضَاقَتۡ
wadaqat
and (was) straitened
عَلَيۡكُمُ
alaykumu
for you
ٱلۡأَرۡضُ
al-ardu
the earth
بِمَا
bima
(in spite) of its vastness
رَحُبَتۡ
rahubat
(in spite) of its vastness
ثُمَّ
thumma
then

ثُمَّ
thumma
Then
أَنزَلَ
anzala
Allah sent down
ٱللَّهُ
al-lahu
Allah sent down
سَكِينَتَهُۥ
sakinatahu
His tranquility
عَلَىٰ
ala
on
رَسُولِهِۦ
rasulihi
His Messenger
وَعَلَى
wa'ala
and on
ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِينَ
al-mu'minina
the believers
وَأَنزَلَ
wa-anzala
and sent down
جُنُودٗا
junudan
forces
لَّمۡ
lam
which you did not see
تَرَوۡهَا
tarawha
which you did not see
وَعَذَّبَ
wa'adhaba
and He punished
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhina
those who
كَفَرُواْۚ
kafaru
disbelieved
وَذَٰلِكَ
wadhalika
And that
جَزَآءُ
jazau
(is) the recompense
ٱلۡكَٰفِرِينَ
al-kafirina
(of) the disbelievers

ثُمَّ
thumma
Then
يَتُوبُ
yatubu
Allah accepts repentance
ٱللَّهُ
al-lahu
Allah accepts repentance
مِنۢ
min
after
بَعۡدِ
ba'di
after
ذَٰلِكَ
dhalika
that
عَلَىٰ
ala
for
مَن
man
whom
يَشَآءُۗ
yashau
He wills
وَٱللَّهُ
wal-lahu
And Allah
غَفُورٞ
ghafurun
(is) Oft-Forgiving
رَّحِيمٞ
rahimun
Most Merciful
٢٧
9:28
يَٰٓأَيُّهَا
yaayyuha
O you who believe
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhina
O you who believe
ءَامَنُوٓاْ
amanu
O you who believe
إِنَّمَا
innama
Indeed
ٱلۡمُشۡرِكُونَ
al-mush'rikuna
the polytheists
نَجَسٞ
najasun
(are) unclean
فَلَا
fala
so let them not come near
يَقۡرَبُواْ
yaqrabu
so let them not come near
ٱلۡمَسۡجِدَ
al-masjida
Al-Masjid Al-Haraam
ٱلۡحَرَامَ
al-harama
Al-Masjid Al-Haraam
بَعۡدَ
ba'da
after
عَامِهِمۡ
amihim
this their (final) year
هَٰذَاۚ
hadha
this their (final) year
وَإِنۡ
wa-in
And if
خِفۡتُمۡ
khif'tum
you fear
عَيۡلَةٗ
aylatan
poverty
فَسَوۡفَ
fasawfa
then soon
يُغۡنِيكُمُ
yugh'nikumu
Allah will enrich you
ٱللَّهُ
al-lahu
Allah will enrich you
مِن
min
from
فَضۡلِهِۦٓ
fadlihi
His Bounty
إِن
in
if
شَآءَۚ
shaa
He wills
إِنَّ
inna
Indeed
ٱللَّهَ
al-laha
Allah
عَلِيمٌ
alimun
(is) All-Knower
حَكِيمٞ
hakimun
All-Wise
٢٨
9:29
قَٰتِلُواْ
qatilu
Fight
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhina
those who
لَا
la
(do) not
يُؤۡمِنُونَ
yu'minuna
believe
بِٱللَّهِ
bil-lahi
in Allah
وَلَا
wala
and not
بِٱلۡيَوۡمِ
bil-yawmi
in the Day
ٱلۡأٓخِرِ
al-akhiri
the Last
وَلَا
wala
and not
يُحَرِّمُونَ
yuharrimuna
they make unlawful
مَا
ma
what
حَرَّمَ
harrama
Allah has made unlawful
ٱللَّهُ
al-lahu
Allah has made unlawful
وَرَسُولُهُۥ
warasuluhu
and His Messenger
وَلَا
wala
and not
يَدِينُونَ
yadinuna
they acknowledge
دِينَ
dina
(the) religion
ٱلۡحَقِّ
al-haqi
(of) the truth
مِنَ
mina
from
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhina
those who
أُوتُواْ
utu
were given
ٱلۡكِتَٰبَ
al-kitaba
the Scripture
حَتَّىٰ
hatta
until
يُعۡطُواْ
yu'tu
they pay
ٱلۡجِزۡيَةَ
al-jiz'yata
the jizyah
عَن
an
willingly
يَدٖ
yadin
willingly
وَهُمۡ
wahum
while they
صَٰغِرُونَ
saghiruna
(are) subdued
٢٩
9:30
وَقَالَتِ
waqalati
And said
ٱلۡيَهُودُ
al-yahudu
the Jews
عُزَيۡرٌ
uzayrun
Uzair
ٱبۡنُ
ub'nu
(is) son
ٱللَّهِ
al-lahi
(of) Allah
وَقَالَتِ
waqalati
And said
ٱلنَّصَٰرَى
al-nasara
the Christians
ٱلۡمَسِيحُ
al-masihu
Messiah
ٱبۡنُ
ub'nu
(is) son
ٱللَّهِۖ
al-lahi
(of) Allah
ذَٰلِكَ
dhalika
That
قَوۡلُهُم
qawluhum
(is) their saying
بِأَفۡوَٰهِهِمۡۖ
bi-afwahihim
with their mouths
يُضَٰهِـُٔونَ
yudahiuna
they imitate
قَوۡلَ
qawla
the saying
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhina
(of) those who
كَفَرُواْ
kafaru
disbelieved
مِن
min
before
قَبۡلُۚ
qablu
before
قَٰتَلَهُمُ
qatalahumu
(May) Allah destroy them
ٱللَّهُۖ
al-lahu
(May) Allah destroy them
أَنَّىٰ
anna
How
يُؤۡفَكُونَ
yu'fakuna
deluded are they
٣٠
9:31
ٱتَّخَذُوٓاْ
ittakhadhu
They have taken
أَحۡبَارَهُمۡ
ahbarahum
their rabbis
وَرُهۡبَٰنَهُمۡ
waruh'banahum
and their monks
أَرۡبَابٗا
arbaban
(as) Lords
مِّن
min
besides
دُونِ
duni
besides
ٱللَّهِ
al-lahi
Allah
وَٱلۡمَسِيحَ
wal-masiha
and the Messiah
ٱبۡنَ
ib'na
son
مَرۡيَمَ
maryama
(of) Maryam
وَمَآ
wama
And not
أُمِرُوٓاْ
umiru
they were commanded
إِلَّا
illa
except
لِيَعۡبُدُوٓاْ
liya'budu
that they worship
إِلَٰهٗا
ilahan
One God
وَٰحِدٗاۖ
wahidan
One God
لَّآ
la
(There) is no
إِلَٰهَ
ilaha
god
إِلَّا
illa
except
هُوَۚ
huwa
Him
سُبۡحَٰنَهُۥ
sub'hanahu
Glory be to Him
عَمَّا
amma
from what
يُشۡرِكُونَ
yush'rikuna
they associate (with Him)

يُرِيدُونَ
yuriduna
They want
أَن
an
to
يُطۡفِـُٔواْ
yut'fiu
extinguish
نُورَ
nura
Allah's light
ٱللَّهِ
al-lahi
Allah's light
بِأَفۡوَٰهِهِمۡ
bi-afwahihim
with their mouths
وَيَأۡبَى
wayaba
but Allah refuses
ٱللَّهُ
al-lahu
but Allah refuses
إِلَّآ
illa
except
أَن
an
to
يُتِمَّ
yutimma
perfect
نُورَهُۥ
nurahu
His Light
وَلَوۡ
walaw
even if
كَرِهَ
kariha
the disbelievers dislike (it)
ٱلۡكَٰفِرُونَ
al-kafiruna
the disbelievers dislike (it)

9:33
هُوَ
huwa
He
ٱلَّذِيٓ
alladhi
(is) the One Who
أَرۡسَلَ
arsala
has sent
رَسُولَهُۥ
rasulahu
His Messenger
بِٱلۡهُدَىٰ
bil-huda
with the guidance
وَدِينِ
wadini
and the religion
ٱلۡحَقِّ
al-haqi
(of) [the] truth
لِيُظۡهِرَهُۥ
liyuz'hirahu
to manifest it
عَلَى
ala
over
ٱلدِّينِ
al-dini
all religions
كُلِّهِۦ
kullihi
all religions
وَلَوۡ
walaw
Even if
كَرِهَ
kariha
dislike (it)
ٱلۡمُشۡرِكُونَ
al-mush'rikuna
the polytheists
٣٣
9:34
۞يَٰٓأَيُّهَا
yaayyuha
O you who believe
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhina
O you who believe
ءَامَنُوٓاْ
amanu
O you who believe
إِنَّ
inna
Indeed
كَثِيرٗا
kathiran
many
مِّنَ
mina
of
ٱلۡأَحۡبَارِ
al-ahbari
the rabbis
وَٱلرُّهۡبَانِ
wal-ruh'bani
and the monks
لَيَأۡكُلُونَ
layakuluna
surely eat
أَمۡوَٰلَ
amwala
(the) wealth
ٱلنَّاسِ
al-nasi
(of) the people
بِٱلۡبَٰطِلِ
bil-batili
in falsehood
وَيَصُدُّونَ
wayasudduna
and hinder
عَن
an
from
سَبِيلِ
sabili
(the) way
ٱللَّهِۗ
al-lahi
(of) Allah
وَٱلَّذِينَ
wa-alladhina
And those who
يَكۡنِزُونَ
yaknizuna
hoard
ٱلذَّهَبَ
al-dhahaba
the gold
وَٱلۡفِضَّةَ
wal-fidata
and the silver
وَلَا
wala
and (do) not
يُنفِقُونَهَا
yunfiqunaha
spend it
فِي
fi
in
سَبِيلِ
sabili
(the) way
ٱللَّهِ
al-lahi
(of) Allah
فَبَشِّرۡهُم
fabashir'hum
[so] give them tidings
بِعَذَابٍ
bi'adhabin
of a punishment
أَلِيمٖ
alimin
painful
٣٤
9:35
يَوۡمَ
yawma
(The) Day
يُحۡمَىٰ
yuh'ma
it will be heated [on it]
عَلَيۡهَا
alayha
it will be heated [on it]
فِي
fi
in
نَارِ
nari
the Fire
جَهَنَّمَ
jahannama
(of) Hell
فَتُكۡوَىٰ
fatuk'wa
and will be branded
بِهَا
biha
with it
جِبَاهُهُمۡ
jibahuhum
their foreheads
وَجُنُوبُهُمۡ
wajunubuhum
and their flanks
وَظُهُورُهُمۡۖ
wazuhuruhum
and their backs
هَٰذَا
hadha
This
مَا
ma
(is) what
كَنَزۡتُمۡ
kanaztum
you hoarded
لِأَنفُسِكُمۡ
li-anfusikum
for yourselves
فَذُوقُواْ
fadhuqu
so taste
مَا
ma
what
كُنتُمۡ
kuntum
you used to
تَكۡنِزُونَ
taknizuna
hoard
٣٥
9:36
إِنَّ
inna
Indeed
عِدَّةَ
iddata
(the) number
ٱلشُّهُورِ
al-shuhuri
(of) the months
عِندَ
inda
with
ٱللَّهِ
al-lahi
Allah
ٱثۡنَا
ith'na
(is) twelve
عَشَرَ
ashara
(is) twelve
شَهۡرٗا
shahran
months
فِي
fi
in
كِتَٰبِ
kitabi
(the) ordinance
ٱللَّهِ
al-lahi
(of) Allah
يَوۡمَ
yawma
(from the) Day
خَلَقَ
khalaqa
He created
ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ
al-samawati
the heavens
وَٱلۡأَرۡضَ
wal-arda
and the earth
مِنۡهَآ
min'ha
of them
أَرۡبَعَةٌ
arba'atun
four
حُرُمٞۚ
hurumun
(are) sacred
ذَٰلِكَ
dhalika
That
ٱلدِّينُ
al-dinu
(is) the religion
ٱلۡقَيِّمُۚ
al-qayimu
the upright
فَلَا
fala
so (do) not
تَظۡلِمُواْ
tazlimu
wrong
فِيهِنَّ
fihinna
therein
أَنفُسَكُمۡۚ
anfusakum
yourselves
وَقَٰتِلُواْ
waqatilu
And fight
ٱلۡمُشۡرِكِينَ
al-mush'rikina
the polytheists
كَآفَّةٗ
kaffatan
all together
كَمَا
kama
as
يُقَٰتِلُونَكُمۡ
yuqatilunakum
they fight you
كَآفَّةٗۚ
kaffatan
all together
وَٱعۡلَمُوٓاْ
wa-i'lamu
And know
أَنَّ
anna
that
ٱللَّهَ
al-laha
Allah
مَعَ
ma'a
(is) with
ٱلۡمُتَّقِينَ
al-mutaqina
the righteous

إِنَّمَا
innama
Indeed
ٱلنَّسِيٓءُ
al-nasiu
the postponing
زِيَادَةٞ
ziyadatun
(is) an increase
فِي
fi
in
ٱلۡكُفۡرِۖ
al-kuf'ri
the disbelief
يُضَلُّ
yudallu
are led astray
بِهِ
bihi
by it
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhina
those who
كَفَرُواْ
kafaru
disbelieve
يُحِلُّونَهُۥ
yuhillunahu
They make it lawful
عَامٗا
aman
one year
وَيُحَرِّمُونَهُۥ
wayuharrimunahu
and make it unlawful
عَامٗا
aman
(another) year
لِّيُوَاطِـُٔواْ
liyuwatiu
to adjust
عِدَّةَ
iddata
the number
مَا
ma
which
حَرَّمَ
harrama
Allah has made unlawful
ٱللَّهُ
al-lahu
Allah has made unlawful
فَيُحِلُّواْ
fayuhillu
and making lawful
مَا
ma
what
حَرَّمَ
harrama
Allah has made unlawful
ٱللَّهُۚ
al-lahu
Allah has made unlawful
زُيِّنَ
zuyyina
Is made fair-seeming
لَهُمۡ
lahum
to them
سُوٓءُ
suu
(the) evil
أَعۡمَٰلِهِمۡۗ
a'malihim
(of) their deeds
وَٱللَّهُ
wal-lahu
And Allah
لَا
la
(does) not
يَهۡدِي
yahdi
guide
ٱلۡقَوۡمَ
al-qawma
the people
ٱلۡكَٰفِرِينَ
al-kafirina
the disbelievers
٣٧
9:38
يَٰٓأَيُّهَا
yaayyuha
O you who believe
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhina
O you who believe
ءَامَنُواْ
amanu
O you who believe
مَا
ma
What
لَكُمۡ
lakum
(is the matter) with you
إِذَا
idha
when
قِيلَ
qila
it is said
لَكُمُ
lakumu
to you
ٱنفِرُواْ
infiru
go forth
فِي
fi
in
سَبِيلِ
sabili
(the) way
ٱللَّهِ
al-lahi
(of) Allah
ٱثَّاقَلۡتُمۡ
ithaqaltum
you cling heavily
إِلَى
ila
to
ٱلۡأَرۡضِۚ
al-ardi
the earth
أَرَضِيتُم
araditum
Are you pleased
بِٱلۡحَيَوٰةِ
bil-hayati
with the life
ٱلدُّنۡيَا
al-dun'ya
(of) the world
مِنَ
mina
(rather) than
ٱلۡأٓخِرَةِۚ
al-akhirati
the Hereafter
فَمَا
fama
But what
مَتَٰعُ
mata'u
(is the) enjoyment
ٱلۡحَيَوٰةِ
al-hayati
(of) the life
ٱلدُّنۡيَا
al-dun'ya
(of) the world
فِي
fi
in (comparison to)
ٱلۡأٓخِرَةِ
al-akhirati
the hereafter
إِلَّا
illa
except
قَلِيلٌ
qalilun
a little
٣٨
9:39
إِلَّا
illa
If not
تَنفِرُواْ
tanfiru
you go forth
يُعَذِّبۡكُمۡ
yu'adhib'kum
He will punish you
عَذَابًا
adhaban
(with) a painful punishment
أَلِيمٗا
aliman
(with) a painful punishment
وَيَسۡتَبۡدِلۡ
wayastabdil
and will replace you
قَوۡمًا
qawman
(with) a people
غَيۡرَكُمۡ
ghayrakum
other than you
وَلَا
wala
and not
تَضُرُّوهُ
tadurruhu
you can harm Him
شَيۡـٔٗاۗ
shayan
(in) anything
وَٱللَّهُ
wal-lahu
And Allah
عَلَىٰ
ala
(is) on
كُلِّ
kulli
every
شَيۡءٖ
shayin
thing
قَدِيرٌ
qadirun
All-Powerful
٣٩
9:40
إِلَّا
illa
If not
تَنصُرُوهُ
tansuruhu
you help him
فَقَدۡ
faqad
certainly
نَصَرَهُ
nasarahu
Allah helped him
ٱللَّهُ
al-lahu
Allah helped him
إِذۡ
idh
when
أَخۡرَجَهُ
akhrajahu
drove him out
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhina
those who
كَفَرُواْ
kafaru
disbelieved
ثَانِيَ
thaniya
the second
ٱثۡنَيۡنِ
ith'nayni
(of) the two
إِذۡ
idh
when
هُمَا
huma
they both
فِي
fi
(were) in
ٱلۡغَارِ
al-ghari
the cave
إِذۡ
idh
when
يَقُولُ
yaqulu
he said
لِصَٰحِبِهِۦ
lisahibihi
to his companion
لَا
la
(Do) not
تَحۡزَنۡ
tahzan
grieve
إِنَّ
inna
indeed
ٱللَّهَ
al-laha
Allah
مَعَنَاۖ
ma'ana
(is) with us
فَأَنزَلَ
fa-anzala
Then Allah sent down
ٱللَّهُ
al-lahu
Then Allah sent down
سَكِينَتَهُۥ
sakinatahu
His tranquility
عَلَيۡهِ
alayhi
upon him
وَأَيَّدَهُۥ
wa-ayyadahu
and supported him
بِجُنُودٖ
bijunudin
with forces
لَّمۡ
lam
which you did not see
تَرَوۡهَا
tarawha
which you did not see
وَجَعَلَ
waja'ala
and made
كَلِمَةَ
kalimata
(the) word
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhina
(of) those who
كَفَرُواْ
kafaru
disbelieved
ٱلسُّفۡلَىٰۗ
al-suf'la
the lowest
وَكَلِمَةُ
wakalimatu
while (the) Word
ٱللَّهِ
al-lahi
(of) Allah
هِيَ
hiya
it (is)
ٱلۡعُلۡيَاۗ
al-'ul'ya
the highest
وَٱللَّهُ
wal-lahu
And Allah
عَزِيزٌ
azizun
(is) All-Mighty
حَكِيمٌ
hakimun
All-Wise

ٱنفِرُواْ
infiru
Go forth
خِفَافٗا
khifafan
light
وَثِقَالٗا
wathiqalan
or heavy
وَجَٰهِدُواْ
wajahidu
and strive
بِأَمۡوَٰلِكُمۡ
bi-amwalikum
with your wealth
وَأَنفُسِكُمۡ
wa-anfusikum
and your lives
فِي
fi
in
سَبِيلِ
sabili
(the) way
ٱللَّهِۚ
al-lahi
(of) Allah
ذَٰلِكُمۡ
dhalikum
That
خَيۡرٞ
khayrun
(is) better
لَّكُمۡ
lakum
for you
إِن
in
if
كُنتُمۡ
kuntum
you
تَعۡلَمُونَ
ta'lamuna
know
٤١
9:42
لَوۡ
law
If
كَانَ
kana
it had been
عَرَضٗا
aradan
a gain
قَرِيبٗا
qariban
near
وَسَفَرٗا
wasafaran
and a journey
قَاصِدٗا
qasidan
easy
لَّٱتَّبَعُوكَ
la-ittaba'uka
surely they (would) have followed you
وَلَٰكِنۢ
walakin
but
بَعُدَتۡ
ba'udat
was long
عَلَيۡهِمُ
alayhimu
for them
ٱلشُّقَّةُۚ
al-shuqatu
the distance
وَسَيَحۡلِفُونَ
wasayahlifuna
And they will swear
بِٱللَّهِ
bil-lahi
by Allah
لَوِ
lawi
If
ٱسۡتَطَعۡنَا
is'tata'na
we were able
لَخَرَجۡنَا
lakharajna
certainly we (would) have come forth
مَعَكُمۡ
ma'akum
with you
يُهۡلِكُونَ
yuh'likuna
They destroy
أَنفُسَهُمۡ
anfusahum
their own selves
وَٱللَّهُ
wal-lahu
and Allah
يَعۡلَمُ
ya'lamu
knows
إِنَّهُمۡ
innahum
(that) indeed they
لَكَٰذِبُونَ
lakadhibuna
(are) surely liars
٤٢
9:43
عَفَا
afa
(May) Allah forgive
ٱللَّهُ
al-lahu
(May) Allah forgive
عَنكَ
anka
you
لِمَ
lima
Why (did)
أَذِنتَ
adhinta
you grant leave
لَهُمۡ
lahum
to them
حَتَّىٰ
hatta
until
يَتَبَيَّنَ
yatabayyana
(became) evident
لَكَ
laka
to you
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhina
those who
صَدَقُواْ
sadaqu
were truthful
وَتَعۡلَمَ
wata'lama
and you knew
ٱلۡكَٰذِبِينَ
al-kadhibina
the liars
٤٣
9:44
لَا
la
(Would) not ask your permission
يَسۡتَـٔۡذِنُكَ
yastadhinuka
(Would) not ask your permission
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhina
those who
يُؤۡمِنُونَ
yu'minuna
believe
بِٱللَّهِ
bil-lahi
in Allah
وَٱلۡيَوۡمِ
wal-yawmi
and the Day
ٱلۡأٓخِرِ
al-akhiri
the Last
أَن
an
that
يُجَٰهِدُواْ
yujahidu
they strive
بِأَمۡوَٰلِهِمۡ
bi-amwalihim
with their wealth
وَأَنفُسِهِمۡۗ
wa-anfusihim
and their lives
وَٱللَّهُ
wal-lahu
And Allah
عَلِيمُۢ
alimun
(is) All-Knower
بِٱلۡمُتَّقِينَ
bil-mutaqina
of the righteous
٤٤
9:45
إِنَّمَا
innama
Only
يَسۡتَـٔۡذِنُكَ
yastadhinuka
ask your leave
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhina
those who
لَا
la
(do) not
يُؤۡمِنُونَ
yu'minuna
believe
بِٱللَّهِ
bil-lahi
in Allah
وَٱلۡيَوۡمِ
wal-yawmi
and the Day
ٱلۡأٓخِرِ
al-akhiri
the Last
وَٱرۡتَابَتۡ
wa-ir'tabat
and (are in) doubts
قُلُوبُهُمۡ
qulubuhum
their hearts
فَهُمۡ
fahum
so they
فِي
fi
in
رَيۡبِهِمۡ
raybihim
their doubts
يَتَرَدَّدُونَ
yataraddaduna
they waver
٤٥
9:46
۞وَلَوۡ
walaw
And if
أَرَادُواْ
aradu
they had wished
ٱلۡخُرُوجَ
al-khuruja
(to) go forth
لَأَعَدُّواْ
la-a'addu
surely they (would) have prepared
لَهُۥ
lahu
for it
عُدَّةٗ
uddatan
(some) preparation
وَلَٰكِن
walakin
But
كَرِهَ
kariha
Allah disliked
ٱللَّهُ
al-lahu
Allah disliked
ٱنۢبِعَاثَهُمۡ
inbi'athahum
their being sent
فَثَبَّطَهُمۡ
fathabbatahum
so He made them lag behind
وَقِيلَ
waqila
and it was said
ٱقۡعُدُواْ
uq'udu
Sit
مَعَ
ma'a
with
ٱلۡقَٰعِدِينَ
al-qa'idina
those who sit
٤٦
9:47
لَوۡ
law
If
خَرَجُواْ
kharaju
they (had) gone forth
فِيكُم
fikum
with you
مَّا
ma
not
زَادُوكُمۡ
zadukum
they (would) have increased you
إِلَّا
illa
except
خَبَالٗا
khabalan
(in) confusion
وَلَأَوۡضَعُواْ
wala-awda'u
and would have been active
خِلَٰلَكُمۡ
khilalakum
in your midst
يَبۡغُونَكُمُ
yabghunakumu
seeking (for) you
ٱلۡفِتۡنَةَ
al-fit'nata
dissension
وَفِيكُمۡ
wafikum
And among you (are some)
سَمَّٰعُونَ
samma'una
who would have listened
لَهُمۡۗ
lahum
to them
وَٱللَّهُ
wal-lahu
And Allah
عَلِيمُۢ
alimun
(is) All-Knower
بِٱلظَّٰلِمِينَ
bil-zalimina
of the wrongdoers

لَقَدِ
laqadi
Verily
ٱبۡتَغَوُاْ
ib'taghawu
they had sought
ٱلۡفِتۡنَةَ
al-fit'nata
dissension
مِن
min
before
قَبۡلُ
qablu
before
وَقَلَّبُواْ
waqallabu
and had upset
لَكَ
laka
for you
ٱلۡأُمُورَ
al-umura
the matters
حَتَّىٰ
hatta
until
جَآءَ
jaa
came
ٱلۡحَقُّ
al-haqu
the truth
وَظَهَرَ
wazahara
and became manifest
أَمۡرُ
amru
(the) Order of Allah
ٱللَّهِ
al-lahi
(the) Order of Allah
وَهُمۡ
wahum
while they
كَٰرِهُونَ
karihuna
disliked (it)
٤٨
9:49
وَمِنۡهُم
wamin'hum
And among them
مَّن
man
(is he) who
يَقُولُ
yaqulu
says
ٱئۡذَن
i'dhan
Grant me leave
لِّي
li
Grant me leave
وَلَا
wala
and (do) not
تَفۡتِنِّيٓۚ
taftinni
put me to trial
أَلَا
ala
Surely
فِي
fi
in
ٱلۡفِتۡنَةِ
al-fit'nati
the trial
سَقَطُواْۗ
saqatu
they have fallen
وَإِنَّ
wa-inna
And indeed
جَهَنَّمَ
jahannama
Hell
لَمُحِيطَةُۢ
lamuhitatun
(will) surely surround
بِٱلۡكَٰفِرِينَ
bil-kafirina
the disbelievers
٤٩
9:50
إِن
in
If
تُصِبۡكَ
tusib'ka
befalls you
حَسَنَةٞ
hasanatun
good
تَسُؤۡهُمۡۖ
tasu'hum
it distresses them
وَإِن
wa-in
but if
تُصِبۡكَ
tusib'ka
befalls you
مُصِيبَةٞ
musibatun
a calamity
يَقُولُواْ
yaqulu
they say
قَدۡ
qad
Verily
أَخَذۡنَآ
akhadhna
we took
أَمۡرَنَا
amrana
our matter
مِن
min
before
قَبۡلُ
qablu
before
وَيَتَوَلَّواْ
wayatawallaw
And they turn away
وَّهُمۡ
wahum
while they
فَرِحُونَ
farihuna
(are) rejoicing
